What Media Bias? Part 161

They’re not even trying to fake it, anymore:

As Drudge points out, CNN blasted inboxes this morning with its new poll numbers, claiming a “14-point gain” in support for President Obama’s health-care plan among speech-watchers. However, CNN’s methods are questionable. As CNN writes at the bottom of its report:

The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll was conducted just before and just after the president’s speech, with 427 adult Americans questioned by telephone. The survey’s sampling error is plus or minus 5 percentage points.

The sample of speech-watchers in this poll was 45 percent Democratic and 18 percent Republican. Our best estimate of the number of Democrats in the voting age population as a whole indicates that the sample is about 8-10 points more Democratic than the population as a whole.

CNN’s sloppy poll, not its numbers, is the real news story here.

Why did they do it? Because they wanted to be able to puff up Obama’s speech – and they probably did it at the direction or at least strong urging of the White House. Rush has taken to calling the MSM our “State-run” media. He’s right.

Excellent point, neocon—let’s keep an eye on the Complicit Agenda Media to see how much outrage they exhibit.

I don’t agree with Rush in his assessment of the media as “state-run” as I don’t see financial and/or management control of the media by the state.

I do, however, refer to them as the Complicit Agenda Media, as they clearly show an agenda which is pro-Democrat, pro-Obama, and oblivious to the former standards of professional journalism, and they are clearly complicit in the dissemination of state propaganda. But so far at least this is just due to the personal bias of those who produce the “news” and, possibly, some political pressure to assist the Left in its efforts, rather than outright control.

    So far.

Two of the cable stations, MSNBC and CNN, are even more blatant than the network channels in their determination to do whatever they can to promote the side they have chosen.

The Left’s hatred of Fox News comes, I think, from two emotional sources. One is that they have the temerity to actually present news which has been ignored by the Agenda Media, but more than that I think they simply do not grasp the difference between reporting and opinion. On Fox, there are clearly opinion shows which are clearly leaning toward the Right—and they are identified as such—but the news itself is objective. This happened, that happened, he said this, she said that. The fact that so many on the Far Left react so hysterically to this is proof that the other news sources are biased—evidently Fox is the only news show that presents this news, allowing the hysterics to assume that the news would not exist if Fox had not presented it, and is therefore not true. As usual, they start with a theory and work backwards to an explanation.

The problem with the Agenda Media is that they present opinion as fact, as news, and never bother to tell anyone that they are merely talking about what they believe, not necessarily what is true.

The media may not be “state run”, but it’s voluntarily acting as if it is state run. Especially ABC. They are the official Hussein mouthpiece.

Can you imagine if the media lashed out at Hussein like they did Bush? Hussein’s numbers are already tanking, and the MSM lives and breathes to build him up to be some kind of Messiah, here to deliver us all from the GOP.

I wish Hussein had just half of the opposition from the MSM that Bush had. I would crumble, and wife would screaming “racists” at the top of her lungs every time she spoke in public.

That was a typo. I meant to say:

He would crumble, and his wife would be screaming “racists” at the top of her lungs every time she spoke in public.

    Neocon1,

The pro-life man’s name was Jim Pouillon. He was shot four times in the chest, by a 33 year old man…without a doubt, an atheist liberal.

Life is cheap to a liberal atheist, and is what they are taught to be in our schools, liberal atheists who will also think life is cheap.
