President Bush Vastly Outclasses His Critics

As usual:

Former President George W. Bush addressed a capacity crowd Wednesday night at the Wilderness Resort and Convention Center in Sevierville.

Bush wowed a crowd of more than 9,000 that attended a three-day conference of the Phil Waldrep Ministries based in Decatur, Ala.

Bush gave the enthusiastic crowd a patriotic message of joy, hope and faith in our families…

…The former president shied away from any political stance and said each U.S. leader must surround themselves with people they can trust.

“Always surround yourself with people that you’re not afraid to listen to,” he said.

“Base your decisions on your values that are steadfast and don’t change with the times. It’s essential that when you look in the mirror you can be proud of what you see. Never compromise your values for popularity. Take a stand and defend it.”

Bush said he was proud to represent the United States during his eight-year tenure.

“The institution of president is so much more important than the person,” he said. “I tried to bring honor to the office for eight years.”

Obama and Co can’t go a day, it seems, without using President Bush as a whipping boy – President Bush simply cannot bring himself to offer criticism, even of those who hate him. A Christian and a gentleman, its just not in him to match his critics’ invective.

I said back in 2008 that we’re going to miss him – I certainly do: I’d give my right arm to have him back in the White House for just a week, in order to make the decisions necessary to carry Afghanistan through.

Sure Obama makes sure he hears from “all points of view”.

He just makes d*m sure he doesn’t have anyone he doesn’t agree with-especially conservatives-in his meetings.

    Waaaaay above yours or mine.

Always surround yourself with people that you’re not afraid to listen to,” he said.

In other words, never let your views be challenged. Never listen to counterarguments, or possible downsides. Simply put, never learn.

“Base your decisions on your values that are steadfast and don’t change with the times. It’s essential that when you look in the mirror you can be proud of what you see. Never compromise your values for popularity. Take a stand and defend it.”

In other words, believe the same thing you always did, blindly and with no regard to circumstances. Don’t listen to what the people want, even when only a scant 25% of them support you, because YOU and ONLY YOU know better. Choose to believe something, and believe it till hell freezes over.

The one thing that astonished me about Bush was his lack of intellectual curiosity– not that he’s necessarily a dumb person, he’s just not that interested.

God bless you President George W. Bush, the greatest president in american history.

  6. 4moreyears says:

    jam,

    Really? How old are you?

  7. cluster says:

    4moreyears,

    Really? How stupid are you?

    Cheers

  8. fr00tn00b says:

No, 4moreyears and cluster, jam was clearly being sarcastic and ironic. Right? Please tell me you don’t actually believe that, jam….

  9. cluster says:

Why does jam have to tell you that fr00tn00b? Would someone not believing what you do threaten your worldview, or scare you in anyway? Do you prefer people to all walk in lockstep?

  10. cluster says:

    fr00tn00b,

Will it make you more comfortable if we all just believe what you do? You can be honest.

  11. fr00tn00b says:

It would kinda weird me out, actually, if suddenly everybody were to start believing what I do.

However, in rooms that I have found myself in where the people are educated and intelligent and curious, the world makes a lot more sense, and I certainly feel more comfortable, so I guess you could be right.

  12. cluster says:

Again fr00tn00b, how do you know that those people are more educated and enlightened? Is that what your Mom, or professor, told you? Or is it just a self deluded assumption?

Why do you have such an absolute belief in science, when science can not fully explain the origins? Isn’t that a sign of intellectual incuriosity?

  13. fr00tn00b says:

OK, first off, I don’t see the church making any progress. Honestly, they’re preaching the same thing they did more than a thousand years ago. Science, on the other hand, has observed and refined its hypotheses. That people observe, question, study, experiment, answer is more a sign of intellectual curiosity than preaching (again, without much change in tone over the past thousand years) that some higher being is and always has been the cause. Religion argues that we don’t need to understand, indeed we can’t understand, because it’s just how God works, whereas science tries to understand.

Really, if you look at the timeline, the last significant event in the Christian religion– the last event that really redefined its dogma– was Jesus Christ. In other words, Christianity hasn’t made ANY significant progress in its understandings of the world since its founding.

Science, on the other hand, is continually searching for ways to redefine its principles– indeed, that is what science is. Yesterday, for example, NASA crashed a rocket into the moon.

Now, which demonstrates more intellectual curiosity? Sitting down once a week, every week, and praying the same prayers that have been prayed for the last thousand years to a God, or going out every day and trying to explain as yet inexplicable phenomena?
