Connie Hair on Human Events reports:
The bill certified for “reconciliation” is the Ways & Means version of H.R. 3200 that was passed out of committee before the August break, and before it was read aloud at town hall meetings across the country and blasted by voters across the country. It contains all of the horrors previously exposed: federal funding of abortion, coverage for illegal aliens, comparative effectiveness, healthcare rationing, deep cuts to Medicare. Everything the American people overwhelmingly reject.
No amendments were allowed at the hearing and no debate. Rangel told Rep. Dave Camp (R-Mich.), the ranking Republican on the committee, that he would not have preferred to do it this way, but leadership — i.e., Speaker Pelosi — forced his hand.
Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead. By so obviously thwarting the will of a vast majority of the American people, It would appear to that the democrats are quite willing to relegate themselves into a permanent minority, if it will advance America’s downward spiral into the bowels of their great socialist experiment.
They want it that bad.
The ends, after all, justify the means.

And anyone is surprised?
One more step towards socialism. We may as well scrap the dollar and join the EU…
I recommend you find a higher quality of news source.
The nuclear option involves changing the Senate’s rules to make a filibuster impossible. It is permanent (though of course the rules may be changed back in a separate action, as happened in 1975) and applies only to the Senate.
Additionally, today was the deadline for sending the reconciliation letter. (What letter, you ask? Well, this is why you need to find a better news source.) This means that the democrats are keeping reconciliation on the table, not that they have decided to use it.
That’s because they were sending a letter to the Senate Budget Committee. How would they have amended it? Changing the font?
It is almost certain that he won’t. Remember, the Dems have 60 votes. Unless Majority Whip Dick Durbin fials epically at his job, reconciliation will be unnecessary.
It cleared the Ways and Means Committee on July 17.
If there was a straight party-line vote, the filibuster would not be a problem.
No, comment.
I hope everyone realizes that a reconciliation effort is an admission by the dems that they can’t even get 100% of their own party votes. Which clearly means the liberals are circling the wagons around their shrinking coalition, and passing bills that the majority oppose.
Ought to serve them well in 2010
