Harry Reid is Really, Really Unpopular

Click here to get Caucus of Corruption: The Truth About The New Democratic Majority by Matt Margolis and Mark Noonan.

Can’t get much worse than this:

As you may know, Harry Reid is up for re-election in 2010. Do you think he should be the Democratic nominee again or is it time for someone new to represent Democrats?

26% He should be the nominee, 39% Time for someone new

That’s gonna leave a mark – now, the problem is that the two best-known GOPers in the race (Lowden and Tarkanian) only poll 47% and 46%, respectively, against Harry Reid. This is good in that they both beat Reid in the polling, bad that they aren’t 10-20 percentage points ahead. Reid is the most beatable Democrat out there – but the relative weakness of the two leading GOPers shows the need for a fresh approach. Better for an outsider to be the nominee – someone not tied to the old politics.

    Mark,

Several years ago a reader at The StrataSphere blog did a complete expose of Reid’s illegal land deals in the comments section, but I think A.J. Strata must have been afraid to pursue it, and it quickly died. Other than occasional allusions to it here, I never saw it mentioned anywhere else — at least not in the same detail. Are there no law enforcement officials in Nevada who aren’t afraid to take on?

  2. casper says:

Personally, I’d be happy to see Reid go. The guy gets nothing done.

I know that you want to offer the voters a new & unique political agenda, Mark, but are you really prepared to be exposed to the kind of dirty tricks Reid will aim in your direction?

It won’t be pretty and remember, you don’t want to retaliate by using the same methods as he to discredit his pathetic record as Senator for Nevada. You will have to take the high road, put those Christian values to work and run a clean & honest campaign.

Are you sure you are up to the job?

    THANK GOD for that.

running a rough campaign, pointing out failures personal and professional, exposing him and his sleaze is not taking the low road.

the smearing lying, degrading is what you donk marxist do AKA..Rush Palin, Joe the plumbr.

Dingy Harry reminds me of Montgomery Burns from the simpsons. He has no conscience, thinks he rules the world, and is one fugly MOFO……hmmm..sounds like Dingy Harry.
Watching Piglosi diss this cretin when he failed to draw her into his feeble, yet contemptuous arms was indicitive of his chauvinism and was the best laugh I’ve had in a while.
This truly shows the divisional angst within the Donk party.

  8. vandregg says:

I don’t know of many Democrats who would not welcome the departure of Harry Reid. And he can take Nancy Pelosi with him.

  9. vandregg says:

fmrmarine, no one here calls you zer0 – but feel free to go with Reid and Pelosi.

frmmarine, didn’t your mother teach you any manners? If not, I would have thought you would have learned some respect of others as a marine. And if you truly were a marine, you would have the moral courage to admit your true identity – instead you just continue to deny who you really are. I guess you think you are very clever to call me a COW. It just make you look small and petty. Grown-ups have grown-up discussions. The silly name calling usually ends for most at about the 7th grade.
Obama is not my God. I am a Christian and believe in the real God who created this universe. It is a sin to worship another God – and I don’t. So spare me the usual fmrmarine rhetortic. You really need to get in touch with this loving, caring and forgiving God that is full of grace and loves each of us and stop with the immature prattle that you post everyday.

the sooner this blight is gone from our govt. the better.
the same for piglowsey, frank, kerry, murtha rangle, and the rest of the cretins that are the donk party.

  21. tiredoflibbs says:

Reid would not be the first modern liberal Senate Majority leader to be ousted.

Reid did the same bipartisan whines when he was Minority Leader. Now, he is doing the same partisan BS that that his predecessors did when they became Majority leaders. For this, they were ousted.

Maybe he can join Foley and Daschle in whatever they are doing now. Fall into mediocrity and try to recover what they had and lost to utter foolishness.

  22. Mark Noonan says:

    retired,

As I co-wrote the book on Reid, I’ve got that lined up – and it is important. Also, only an outsider can credibly hit Reid on that sort of things. Lowden and Tarkanian won’t be able to do it.

As for law enforcement – you betcha, everyone out here is afraid to cross Reid…its why the front-runners against him are a two-time loser and a near unknown (I’m certain that if Rasmussen would poll my name against Reid, I’d do as well as Lowden does).

  23. Mark Noonan says:

    CO,

I’ve thought about it and I’m prepared for it – of course, it might not be me; there is a host of us “unknowns” who are testing the waters. Whichever of us catches fire will be the nominee. The good news is that while Harry is busying digging up dirt on Lowden and Tarkanian, the rest of us can proceed unhindered…and introduce ourselves to Nevada without the initial filter of a Reid smear. If Lowden and Tarkanian want to have a shot at this, they should be up on the air right now, before Reid gets a chance to define them.

  24. ricorun says:

Mark: Also, only an outsider can credibly hit Reid on that sort of things. Lowden and Tarkanian won’t be able to do it.

That sounds like quite an indictment of Lowden and Tarkanian. Do you know something that others don’t?

  25. Mark Noonan says:

    Ricorun,

Nothing one couldn’t discover by diligence.

  26. ricorun says:

Mark: Ricorun, Nothing one couldn’t discover by diligence.

And maybe a little added (and unsubstantiated) allegation, perhaps?

At any rate, I would hope your “fight picking” involves Harry Reid as opposed to one or another of the other GOP hopefuls. Perhaps that might sink their ship, but it’s also likely to sink your own in the process.

That being said, the NV Senate race is interesting on several levels. For one thing, the incumbent is quite unpopular (according to early opinion polls). For another, he has a huge war chest. For another, he has so far attracted little more than second teir opposition (sorry about that, but by your own admonition, it’s true). For another, it is generally accepted that his political fortunes largely hinge on his ability to deliver a viable health care reform bill. What an interesting concept, huh? No wonder you’re not willing to go “all in” at the present time.
