This is getting common enough for us to get very worried about it:
President Obama isn’t taking kindly to a television ad that criticizes his opposition to a popular scholarship program for poor children, and his administration wants the ad pulled.
Former D.C. Councilmember Kevin Chavous of D.C. Children First said October 16 that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder had recently approached him and told him to kill the ad.
The 30-second ad, which has been airing on FOX News, CNN, MSNBC, and News Channel 8 to viewers in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, urges the president to reauthorize the federally-funded D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program that provides vouchers of up to $7,500 for D.C. students to attend private schools.
The ad features Chavous and a young boy–one of 216 students whose scholarships were rescinded by the Department of Education earlier this year when the agency announced no new students would be allowed into the program. The ad also includes an excerpt taken from one of Obama’s campaign statements.
“I saw [Holder] at an event,” said Chavous. “He did ask me in front of others to pull the ad. My response was, ‘No, and I tell you what, if the president does the right thing, not only will we pull it but we will celebrate him.’ ”
Alas! To do the right thing would anger powerful, well-heeled special interests. In this case, the teacher’s unions – Obama might very much want poor, DC kids to get a good education, but not at the cost of campaign donations. I mean, come on – there’s a limit to a liberal’s bleeding heart, ya know?
More worrisome than Obama’s devotion to corrupt, special interests is the fact that his people have repeatedly tried to get anti-Obama messages off the air. I don’t think its because they are afraid of dissent so much as they just don’t want to deal with it. Its much better, for the Obamaniacs, if they can just ram everything through without any pesky dissidents mucking up the works, you see?
If any of you liberals still wonder why we’re more and more often calling you fascists, here is your answer.

Mark,
You should know that liberals only support choice, when that choice includes killing babies.
From the article:
Yeah, Serg, that’s what they all say.
Next, Chavous will modify the ad to excuse the Appeaser in Chief, and to say that no funds are available due to the “Republican economic policies” of President Bush.
See, Serg, we can blame Bush…
I’d better be careful what I say about your messiah, Serg. I don’t want Holder’s thugs knocking on my door.
Hey, we’re nearing the end of the deadliest month since the war in Afghanistan began. When’s the Chamberlain in Chief gonna stop playing politics with soldier’s lives and do the right thing?
What an idiot. Opps, sorry Mr. Holder…
NEA Chairman Rooco Landesman called the Appeaser in Chief “the most powerful writer since Julius Caesar.”
Sooo, is he gonna win another award for this? And could someone please tell me what’s so powerful about anything Earbama wrote, since I refuse to pay money for any of his books?
called the Appeaser in Chief “the most powerful writer since Julius Caesar.
Yeah, I heard that quote, I think on Glen Beck last night. My first thought was, aha, can a Pulitzer be very far away.
The fawning adoration for this guy is laughably juvenile, and is purely centered around his being a minority (half of one at that). He’s not accomplished a damn thing with the exception of unemploying more people, driving us further into debt and giving the green light to Iran to develop nukes.
If I were a black man, I’d be very encouraged. Evidently, all that is required to be very successful is to appear thoughtful, and have the ability to string together a coherent sentence wherein you blame America for all the ills in the world.
keef
please tell me what’s so powerful about anything Earbama wrote, since I refuse to pay money for any of his books?
The real JOKE he didnt write anything……Ayers wrote everything.
this guy is a fraud, fake, liar, empty suit, sock puppett,
heck he isnt even a real black.
At CPAC in February, we heard an excellent speech by a very passionate woman who was deeply involved in the scholarship program. A middle-aged black woman, she was deeply distressed by the proposed actions of Obama, saying she simply could not understand how he could fail to see the value in this program. She talked about the students who had participated in the program, about how this was the only mechanism for lifting them out of the poverty and abject failures of the DC school system, how it was a life-changing event for all of them, and mourned the possibility of this hope being taken away from them.
It was a powerful and moving declaration of the desperate need of these mostly black students to have at least the POSSIBILITY of a real education, a real chance to leave the ghetto and participate in the American Dream.
And it left us all wondering how this president could possibly justify stripping this HOPE for CHANGE from these children. (We thought it probably had something to do with appeasing the teachers’ unions.)
Sergei,
Nice try – but Holder shouldn’t have asked…that Chavous isn’t burning his bridges means he cares more about the kids than about the bare knuckle, Obama Administration politics…but the fact remains: again and again Obama’s Administration has attempted to suppress dissent.
The Obama regime is putting a lot of people in a bind. I remember the discomfort of the women interviewed by Glenn Beck about the fraud and corruption within ACORN. They truly believed in what they thought ACORN stands for, yet knew they could not support the corruption they had witnessed, and while saying they thought not one tax dollar should go to ACORN till it had been thoroughly audited and cleaned up, they defended the group because of their loyalty to what they thought it represented when it was formed.
Now Chavous is in the position of speaking out against something he knows is wrong—being approached by the AG and asked to stop ’speaking truth to power’—while still being loyal to a friendship.
The ATTORNEY GENERAL used for political threats?
Kevin Chavous of D.C. Children First said October 16 that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder had recently approached him and told him to kill the ad.
What next burn them out as in Waco ?
or shoot the women and kids with FBI snipers like Ruby Ridge. OR maybe just send in the jack booted thugs with auto weapons to kidnap a frightened 12 yo to send him back to a ruthless dictator….OOOH HAPPY DAYS are HERRRRRRE AGAIN!!! MMM MMM MMM
Hey, neo, give Holder a break. It’s not as if he comes down hard on everybody.
Remember, he did give a pass to the New Black Panther thugs who tried to intimidate voters by standing at the polling places armed with Assault Bats.
(I wonder if they would have gotten the same treatment if they had not been New BLACK Panthers…)
Sure they want to keep this stuff off the air.
He knows what the DNC did to Bush.
He should be afraid.
Amazona

Think about this
The same thing done in 2008 by the KKK, in Birmingham?
same ho hum result?
‘Cept the KKK is history, dragged out as a distraction. It’s a handy diversion tactic, but inconvenient, what with Byrd being a Grand Kleagle and all.
We all know that the race card is owned exclusively by the Left, and is played only when they need a distraction from a legitimate objective political objection.
“The Earth has not gained in temperature in the past decade”.
…’You only say that because you can’t stand having a black man in the White House…’
“I think lower taxes stimulate the economy”
…..”RACIST!!”!…
