Remember that census worker found hanged with the word “fed” scrawled on him? Remember how our liberal friends were hinting darkly at the growth of evil, mean, wicked, racist, knuckle-dragging conservatives out to get Obama? Well, it wasn’t quite like that:

Investigators probing the death of a Kentucky census worker found hanging from a tree with the word “fed” scrawled on his chest increasingly doubt he was killed because of his government job and are pursuing the possibility he committed suicide, law enforcement officials told The Associated Press.

Two officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case, said no final conclusions have been made in the case. In recent weeks, however, investigators have grown more skeptical that 51-year-old Bill Sparkman died at the hands of someone angry at the federal government.

But, hey, why let something like facts get in the way of a good story?

  2. Mark Noonan says:

    Neocon,

Where are our liberals? They were all over the alleged hate crime aspects of this story…why aren’t they here to admit error?

  3. I’m sure all the same Lefties who blame TEA Parties, right wing extremists, etc, will make retractions on liberal blogs and in the comments of this post, right? Right?

So far, none of them have touched it.

  4. Amazona says:

No, they have not touched it, and they won’t, any more than they have decried the claims of voter intimidation because some voters “had” to drive past policemen investigating a crime a mile away from the voting site and felt this was a code for “don’t you dare vote”. Or the black professor who claimed racial intimidation after painting racial slurs on her own car. Or…..well, the hoaxes go on and on, and the efforts to create victims goes on and on, and when an effort is revealed for the hoax it is, the silence is deafening………

Waiting to be told this has been “taken out of context…”

park rangers are increasingly vocal about this danger.

  7. Shocker. Ohio can’t acknowledge.

Nice link Mark. No conclusions in that article and yet you seem to know better than those providing the information on the case.

Mark: our “error”? They haven’t finished the investigation.

BTW, I never flaunted this news story, I simply thought it was disgusting that somebody would kill this guy for politics.

Oh, and btw, his hands were duct-taped together, he was gagged, and “FED” was scrawled across his chest. And he was hanged. I’m sorry, but I don’t see how somebody could do that to themselves without leaving evidence (say, a roll of duct tape tossed to the side, or a chair kicked over after he put the noose around his neck).

    Please enlighten me.

    froot,
That dude was way ahead of you. He was so fed up with life he decided to kill himself. Yet, at the same time, he didn’t want anyone to think he may have killed himself. First he pulled off just the right amount of duct tape from the roll he kept hanging in his garage, got in his car and drove to the point where his car was found, all the while carefully holding the duct so that it would not stick to itself. When he got to the tree he climbed up the tree, still carefully holding that tape. When he got up off the ground, he pulled the rope that he had put in his pocket earlier in the day, cut exactly to the length needed to fall just far enough to come into contact with the ground, tied it around his neck and then wrapped up his wrists with the duct tape. Then he jumped out of the tree.

Simple. No roll of duct tape, no chair. That dude was definitely way ahead of you.

  12. fr00tn00b says:

Cam: you forgot that, before doing all this, he cut the word “FED” into his chest, very carefully, and left the knife where it would not be found.

The irony in the title of this thread is unmistakable.

“Ready-fire-aim” anyone? I mean come on… the pathway to reclaiming the title of “the party of facts and logic” is not to butcher the latter.
