I can’t really celebrate Thanksgiving because of what all those evil pilgrims did–they came over here and finished the job Christopher Columbus started. When the pilgrims were finished, they turned to task over to the poineers who settled the west.

I also would like to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving but I don’t want to offend the Native Americans, nor do I want to ostracize Muslims, Kwanziaans, Buddhists, or any other people of different faiths that might not recognize this holiday. Then of course there are the vegetarians whom I am sure object to this day, so although I would like to wish everyone a joyful day, it just doesn’t seem right in light of the diverse group of people we live amongst.

I don’t know how I got talked into it, but I got up at 4:30 to start a turkey in the smoker (actually, I wasn’t talked into it — it was a nice morning, and our daughter and son-in-law loved the turkey last weekend, so I took it upon myself to do it). Then I went down to the Mission to do some prep work for them for a few hours. Now we’re headed off to Camp Pendleton with our travelling kitchen to cook for the AG, daughter, son-in-law, and (at last count) 8 of his jar head buddies. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! Ooorah!

May we appreciate and thank the Lord Jesus Christ for His Blessings for Jesus Christ opening the Curtain to our Heavenly Father so that All May Come unto the throne of Grace. The Old Testament Laws and Rituals and Priests forever gone and a New and Blessed Covenant We have.

As a follow-up, this Thanksgiving was the BEST EVER! Especially the trip down to the daughter/son-in-law AG’s house. The last count turned out to be accurate: 8 jar heads, plus my SIL. For a lot of them this was the first TG they spent away from their families. Likewise for a lot of them, they are scheduled to be deployed in about a month. So it was a great honor to be a part of the festivities. We were only familiar with a couple of them (one of those we’ve seen so often we’re thinking about adopting him, lol!), but they were all great guys. And all the food turned out great, I’m happy to say. Apparently they thought so too, because they ate like pigs, lol!
When it came to the main dinner, one guy stayed at the table for over TWO HOURS shoveling food into his mouth. He looked like he thought he had gone to heaven. It was a very impressive display. And they totally devoured ALL of Mrs. Rico’s hors d’ouvres. Even the ceviche. Actually, ESPECIALLY the ceviche. That was a particular hit with everyone: no matter their race or place of origin, they loved the stuff! That was a bit of a surprise. Then again, Mrs. Rico makes some killer ceviche.
What a great day! Except for the traffic going down (it took us 1.5 hrs to traverse what should have taken us 20 min), it was as close to perfect as humanly possible.
