Pretty much everything I have to say about the matter is here.

mission accomplished
It is truly sad that the only way to remove a corrupt liberal politician is often through death.
My prayers go to his family in their time of loss.
Nothing shows the kind of POS Jack Murtha was any better than this video clip.
AMF “Cold Blooded” Murtha
Johnny joined Teddy, today.
Thank you, Jeremiah, for demonstrating that there are still real Christians out there. What has become of our nation that neither side can at least grieve in peace? No matter what your opinion of Murtha, or Kennedy, or Falwell, or Reagan, they were still all children of God who returned from whence they came. They have received just recompense for their deeds, and only God is the judge. Even if you set the religious element aside, we still should all mourn, for either the world has lost a great person, or a person has lost the chance to become great.
This exultation over death sickens me.
He capitalized on the death of innocent civilians, irreparably damaged the reputations of a few marines, made our military a little more vulnerable in a time of war, and profited handsomely from military contracts doled out to friends, and all for political gain. He’s despicable. Spare me the crocodile tears.
And Falwell also had his faults. They were both still human beings.
Uh, Sergei, get a grip, OK? Jeremiah made the comment that two American politicians who have recently died have met in the afterlife.
Even if you choose to infer that his intent was to imply that they met in Hell, it is still only a comment on the fact that two people who shared so much of the same ideology are likely to end up in the same place after they die.
“Exultation over death”? When you spin into silliness, you spin all the way.
There is no obligation to suddenly pretend that a bad person was a good person simply because he has died. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging the facts of his character. And to do so is far from celebrating his death.
It is a far cry from, for example, the ongoing serial posts from an RRL poster here who went on and on wishing a lengthy and elaborately and lovingly described sadistic death on another poster, merely for disagreeing with her(?). THAT would be an “exultation of death” and I didn’t see you rushing in to excoriate her.
Sergei Andropov,
I am much appreciative of your kind sentiments.
I must say, however, unfortunate as it may be, that I would want to assume as to whether this man was a “child of God.” Either man, for that matter. Needless to say, both men made some controversial decisions. Only Mr. Murtha knew in his heart before he died whether or not he was a child of the King, that is, living wholely in service to Jesus Christ, Our King.
Indeed, I don’t like to squabble over the death of any individual, because it takes a part of someone else’s life away that that individual gave so much joy and comfort to…and for that, it is replaced with much sorrow and sadness. It always hurts when we lose a grandparent, parent, aunt, uncle, spouse or sibling.
We must never forget, however, that death is a fact of life, it will take us all from this world one day. That was the curse that was placed upon mankind for his sin, you see. “Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,” Hebrews 9:27
All that matters then, is that we lived to serve Jesus Christ. As apart from Him, there is no life!
My apologies. A correction is in order: I would not want to assume. Please add that where appropriate.
By “child of God”, I meant one who has been created by God, regardless of whether that one has been saved. After all, the prodigal son was still the son of the father, even when he was gallivanting about the countryside, and the father still loved him, even though he was saddened by the great distance between them.
As for the rest, you said well what I said poorly.

GET over it!!
AMF murtha!
A retired USMC Gunnery Sergeant who goes by the name GunnyG has a scathing column at his blog today, and it involves someone in Congress who faked his Purple Hearts…and he’s not talking about John Kerry!

Considering your side is STILL chortling over Reagan’s death, you’ve got NO room to criticize, Sergei.
I am currently having two conversations about this, one here and one at my regular haunt where I am criticizing people for taking umbrage at the people dancing on Murtha’s grave when they themselves danced on Falwell’s grave.
Réquiem ætérnam dona eis Dómine; et lux perpétua lúceat eis. Requiéscant in pace. Fidelium animae, per misericordiam Dei, requiescant in pace. Amen.
Looks like Leo will have to find someone else to vent his hatred about now.
Funny how flexible our liberal trolls are with defining what is “hate speech”
Basically, Leo disagreed with a US Senator with a D by his name, nothing more.
Arctic Fox– you utilize the word ‘hate’ so casually–it comes trippingly off your tongue, much like racist, homophobe, bigot, etc.,.
You and yours spew invectives and utilize those invectives as some sort of twisted substitute for debate in the arena of ideas.
When you do so, you broadcast just how vapid you are with regard to the level of substance you bring to the table.
I took umbrage with Murtha after on national TV he played judge, jury & executioner toward the Marines in the Haditha incident, even before being formally briefed on the matter. He did this to endear himself to the likes of you and your ilk, since he felt it was his only avenue to his higher ambition, that being the House Majority Leader.
My son was in Iraq at the time, and yeah, I did take it personally, because if he had been in Haditha that day, his honor, too, would have been besmirched by Murtha.
When Murtha committed that despicable act, I knew that he did not deserve the place of honor he held in public office; that he had committed treason against American soldiers by giving their enemies aid and comfort during a time of war. Thus, I made it my mission to de-throne him.
Unfortunately, God got to him before the ballot box did.
Leo
He started his treasonous ways in Viet Nam when as a REMF he fraudently obtained a Purple Heart a la john Fn kerry.
good riddance.
Murtha was never a man of honor, principals, or integrity.
.
He was a natrual born Democrat!
.
I mourn his passing as much as did the passing of Ted Kennedy.
.
I can still respect a person, even when I disagree with them. But Murtha was not worthy of respect in life, and he is not worthy of respect in death.
RIP & taps to a fellow vet.
God’s speed.
00
just because someone is a “fellow vet” does not mean he was not a POS.
The military brigs are full of “fellow vets” who are criminals.
Leave it to a REMF like you to eulogize a FAKE “bandaid hero” who accused his fellow Marines of the worst crimes while wearing fraudulently obtained medals. AMF…POS!
neo – r u aware of the murtha’s valor awards? his actions saved american lives.
u dont like him simply becuse he changed his view that the iraq invasion was justified. takes a stand-up person to admit they were wrong.
the 9/11 commission drew the same conclusions; no nukes & no 9/11 connection.
murtha deserves
oo
neo – r u aware of the murtha’s valor awards? his actions saved american lives.
BULL CRAP, just like kerry he was in the position to award himself Purple Hearts for a couple of band aid scratches,
was a First Marine Regiment intelligence officer in 1966 and 1967.
When Saylor died in 1973, Fox attempted to succeed his boss in Congress, but was narrowly defeated by Murtha in a 1974 special election.
“Pretending to be a big war hero and boasting about having medals is a slap in the face to our veterans who were seriously wounded or killed in action,” Fox was quoted as telling the Uniontown Herald-Standard in the newspaper’s Nov. 1, 1996 edition. “He campaigned as a war hero and I’ve never seen any documentation that he earned any of these honors,” Fox reportedly stated.
” Fox told the Herald-Standard in 1996. “We were amazed that Mr. Murtha was asking for Purple Hearts for superficial lacerations,” he added.
nice – besmirch a decorated war vet who saved american lives based on HIS CAMPAIGN OPPOENENT’S COMMENTS.
again, u dont like him cause he realized, as did many of us, that the iraq invasion was unjustified.
dont confuse bush’s failed legacy w murtha calling him out on the truth like the 9/11 commission also did.
RIP john murtha.
ignore these ungrateful fools.
It appears that Palin disagrees with your assessment of Murtha, neocon.
Sarah says:-
Condolences to the Murtha Family
Todd and I would like to express our condolences to the Murtha family on the passing of Rep. John Murtha. Rep. Murtha served his country honorably as a Marine in Vietnam and later became the first Vietnam veteran elected to the House of Representatives. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
Choby also challenged the validity of Murtha’s Bronze Star with Combat ‘V’ during the 1996 congressional campaign.
“I find it very curious that Combat ‘V’ doesn’t even exist in any of the materials he had distributed,” Choby was quoted as saying in the Herald-Standard of Oct. 13, 1996. “His military record improves over the years,” he added.
Bleeding hearts unite.
Whatever honorable service he might have had as a Marine was overshadowed by his disgraceful service as a politician.
He was the King of Pork with a total disregard for his wasteful spending of American tax dollars. Most egregious was his outspoken tirade of the Haditha Marines. Absolutely disgraceful. It’s too bad he didn’t have some of that wrath for the enemies of America.
This will be his dishonorable legacy.
RIP & God’s speed John Murtha!
