Senator Reid’s Wife and Daughter Injured

Terrible news:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s wife and daughter were hospitalized Thursday — the wife with a broken back and neck — after their minivan was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer truck on an interstate highway in suburban Virginia, authorities said.

Reid’s wife, Landra, 69, and the couple’s daughter, Lana Barringer, 49, were taken by ambulance to Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va. Neither woman’s injuries appeared to be life-threatening, and the daughter was expected to be released from the hospital Thursday night, Reid aides said. Mrs. Reid was listed in serious condition, an aide said, but she was not expected to require surgery.

Our prayers for Senator Reid, his wife and daughter and our hope for a speedy recovery.

It’s no secret that I hold Senator Reid at about the same level as whale sh*t in the ocean, but, having been rear-ended by a semi, I can empathize with his wife and daughter. I wish them a speedy recovery.

I certainly hope the senator’s wife recovers fully and quickly. We will pray for her. It is not her fault that Harry is such a rotten person.

As an EMT, I can’t help but believe that she was not wearing her seat and shoulder belts, i.e. broken neck, back, and nose. Not a good example.

According to the report, everyone involved was properly restrained. Bear in mind, the Reid’s had multiple impacts; one from the rig behind her, one from the car she was forced to rear-end, and then the car in front of that one.

I don’t doubt your knowledge as an EMT, but given this and the fact that she’s nearly seventy, I can believe that she could have gotten those injuries while wearing a seat belt. I imagine it would have been far worse had she not been wearing it.

As much as I dislike Reid for what he’s trying to do to our country, the only fault I find with his wife is a poor choice in husbands. I find no fault with the daughter, as she had no say in her lineage. I’m glad they weren’t hurt any worse, and I hope for their speedy recovery.
