Meanwhile, In the Liberal Alternate Universe

Michelle Obama goes Orwellian on the abortion issue:

Speaking of her husband, Michelle Obama said: “He’ll protect a woman’s freedom of choice, because government should have no say in whether or when a woman embraces the sacred responsibility of parenthood.”

So, parenthood is a “sacred responsibilty”, but if you decide to kill your unborn child you’re not violating anything sacred nor denigrating the status of parenthood? Only in the weird and depressing world of the left could anyone apply the word “sacred” to a defense of killing unborn children…

If you read further into the linked news story, you’ll also see how the gathered pro-abortion fanatics listening to Mrs. Obama were angered over President Bush making it possible for medical professionals to abstain from abortion on matters of conscience - to the pro-abortion fanatics, this denies the right of women to obtain an abortion…which means, of course, that the pro-abortion people believe that medical professions have an obligation to perform a task for another human being. Only in the Left’s alternate universe could a human right (which they claim abortion is) require the participation of other people against their will.

Words to describe this: Stupid. Hateful. Anti-Human. Insane.

Michelle Obama’s Stimulus Check

Rob at Say Anything brought my attention to Michelle Obama’s criticism of the the recent economic stimulus checks that went out, since $600 apparently can only buy you a pair of earrings.

Amanda Carpenter adds to this

She made these remarks at a “working women’s roundtable discussion.”

Although Mrs. Obama has been praised by fashionable outlets like Vogue magazine for her sense of style, her comments about $600 earrings reinforces an unflattering image of the Ivy-league educated Obama lawyers. They’ve both been called “elitist” several times though the course of the presidential campaign season.

Mr. Obama’s former Democratic rival Hillary Clinton called him at “elitist” for telling donors at a private fundraiser in San Francisco that “bitter” Americans in places like Pennsylvania “cling to guns or religion.”

I recently got my stimulus check, and ended up using it very quickly to purchase a number of things. It certainly helped, but more tax cuts would help even more.

When the Chicago Sun-Times Defends Rush Limbaugh

Then you know the Democrat has told a pretty brazen lie:

Is Obama smearing Rush?

News item: Barack Obama campaign starts new Web site to fight smears from political opponents at www.fightthesmears.com.

The first smear mentioned:

“LIE: Rush Limbaugh says a tape exists of Michelle Obama using the word ‘whitey’ from the pulpit of Trinity United.”

Well. No. This is what Limbaugh said:

“The rumor is — and we don’t like dealing with rumors here — but the rumor is that Michelle Obama from the pulpit of this church used the term ‘whitey.’ Some are saying be very careful with this because she might have said ‘why’d he,’ why did he, the contraction ‘why’d he’ instead of ‘whitey.’ ”

He added: “I can’t find anybody who’s seen it.”

So while Limbaugh was happy to wallow in the rumor, he was careful not to claim the tape exists.

More on this when someone gets around to creating www.clarifyfightthesmears.com.

I have to figure that Team Obama is going to be pretty ticked off at this - for 20 years now the left’s primary means of slamming Rush has been to misquote and/or take him out of context. Usually, whenever someone on the left makes an accusation like this against Rush, the MSM gleefully joins in…but someone at the Sun-Times (no doubt now at risk of being transferred to the obituaries page) caught the lie (well, “catch” is too strong a word when you’re speaking of figuring out that a Democrat has lied…usually it involves no more effort than noticing that their lips are moving) and then actually did the right thing and pointed it out.

I get lots of rumors in my in-box, too - probably not as many as Rush as I’m just a little blogger, but in the attempt to smear an opponent, no stone - or little blog - is left unturned in the attempt to get the smear out there. So, someone started this rumor of Michelle Obama and “whitey” - is it true? Who the heck knows? But given that the Obama’s sat for 20 years in the pews of a racist, anti-American church, protestations from the Obama’s about accusations of “whitey” ring rather hollow…the Obama’s should have thought about this thing oh, the second or third time Wright went off on a racist rant…little late to clean that muck off themselves in time for November, 2008.

Obama: The truth hurts.

The list of what we can no longer criticize about Barack Hussein– (oops) — Obama continues. Even if it’s the truth. Now it just so happens that whatever his wife says is beyond reproach:

Earlier, Obama told critics in an interview aired on ABC’s “Good Morning America” to “lay off my wife.”

The Illinois senator was responding to an online ad run by the Tennessee GOP that, during a four-minute video, replays six times Michelle Obama’s comment that “for the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country.” Michelle Obama has clarified her remark, saying she meant she is proud of the public’s engagement in this year’s political process. Obama called the ad “just low class.”

Obama said that if he wins the nomination, Republicans “can say whatever they want to say about me, my track record. But, he added, “if they think that they’re going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful, because I find unacceptable the notion that you start attacking my wife or my family.”

This would be fair enough if Michelle Obama didn’t insert herself and her words as part and parcel of her husband’s campaign. But in that very same interview, Michele Obama did just that:

In the joint interview, Michelle Obama said, “We’re trusting that the American voters are ready to talk about the issues.” She also denied speculation that she has ruled out a place by Clinton on her husband’s ticket.

“There’s no way that I would say ‘absolutely not’ to one of the most successful and powerful and groundbreaking women on this planet,” Michelle Obama said. Empathizing with her as someone who raised “a phenomenal daughter” while in politics, she said, “I think the world of Hillary Clinton,” and added, “I know how hard, just in the little bit of exposure I’ve had to this, what she’s had to deal with and what she’s accomplished.”

Word to Michelle Obama: If you can’t take the political heat, then get the hell in the kitchen and bake some cookies.

Quoting Michelle Obama

Ah, nothing like the thesis of a liberal (PDF) for intersting items:

…My experiences at Princeton have made me far more aware of my “Blackness” than ever before. I have found that at Princeton no matter how liberal and open minded some of my White professors and classmates try to be toward me, I sometimes feel like a visitor on campus; as if I really don’t belong…

Stokely Carmichael and Charlie Hamilton’s (1967) developed definitions of separationism in their discussion of Black Power which guided me in the forumlation and use this concept in this study:

The concept of Black Power rests of this fundamental premise: Before a group can enter the open society, it must close ranks. By this we mean that group solidarity is necessary before a group can operate effectively from a bargaining position of strength in a pluralistic society.

Thus, Carmichael and Hamilton define separationism as a necessary stage for the development of the Black community before this group integrates into the “open society”.

All really good liberal mental gobblydegook - the sort of “thinking” which you get when you are just repeating back what a leftist told you. Trouble is, this lady might be the person who gets first and last crack at advising the President of the United States every day. I guess Michelle Obama doesn’t have as much pull in 2008 as Hillary had in 1992 in getting her thesis locked away. I wonder, however, what we might find in any thesis written by Barack? Would there be, for instance, anything like Michelle’s assertion that black (errr…I mean Black) politicians are to pretend to be working with Whites when they are actually advancing the Black community?

…They discuss the problems which face these Black officials who must persuade the White community that they are above issues of race and that they are representing all people and not just Black people…

Its going to be a very fun and interesting fall campaign…

Why Democrats Will Always be Hopeless

No matter how much hope Obama generates, miserable, self-absorbed liberals who always look on the dark side of life will, well, always lack real hope - via Victor Davis Hanson over at NRO’s The Corner:

Re: “For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country, because it feels like hope is making a comeback.” — Michelle Obama

I wrote not long ago that Michelle Obama is a loose cannon, and I fear that her latest is not her last. I would have thought that two Ivy-League degrees, a joint income of about a million dollars, exclusive private schools for the kids, and a nice home in the suburbs were not so bad and might suggest that hope had made a comeback well before Barack’s presidential run.

Were Democrats fleeing the self-absorption of the Billary power couple of two Yale-educated lawyers — only to embrace the self-absorption of a power-couple of two Harvard-educated lawyers? Or was it a Yale versus Harvard Law School intramural thing all along?

Liberals live in a very small, very dark alternate universe - peopled with devils called “Christians”, “capitalists”, “Republicans” and “conservatives” who are always out to get them and destroy the world. Bravely they stand against this, but it is mostly a stance of despair - but, sometimes, a bright light breaks through…no, not the light of God Almighty; not even the light of a saint, such as Mother Theresa…but the light of a slick-talking political hack who just says the right things in the right tone of voice.

Pathetic. And Hanson is right, Mrs. Obama is a loose cannon - and if they can’t talk some sense to her, she’s going to be a liability as bad as Theresa was for Kerry in 2004.
