Obama’s sense of “Patriotism”

“As Mark Twain, that greatest of American satirists and proud son of Missouri, once wrote, Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.” We may hope that our leaders and our government stand up for our ideals, and there are many times in our history when that’s occurred. But when our laws, our leaders or our government are out of alignment with our ideals, then the dissent of ordinary Americans may prove to be one of the truest expression of patriotism.”

-Barack Hussein Obama, in a speech delivered on 30 June, 2008-

So that explains Barack Hussein Obama’s close relationship with one William Ayers, whose patriotic duty (by Obama’s definition) included setting bombs and killing innocent people. Heck, according to Obama’s definition, and by Ayers’ own admission, he just wasn’t patriotic enough.

That also explains Obama’s close relationship with one Rev. “God Damn America!” Wright.

For in Barack Hussein Obama’s world, these men, and others, have demonstrated, according to Obama’s own definition, the “…truest expression of patriotism,” in spades.

An axiom that I have long held is that liberals have no chance of winning a debate in the arena of ideas, unless they are given rein to re-define the terms of that debate.

The heinous practice of killing a baby in what should be the safety of a mother’s womb, heretofore known as abortion, is now known as, “reproductive health.”

The process whereby the government confiscates wealth from productive Americans for redistribution, formerly known as “taxes,” are now known as “contributions” or “investments.”

Today, “the messiah” stated,

“…surely we can agree that no party or political philosophy has a monopoly on patriotism. And surely we can arrive at a definition of patriotism that, however rough and imperfect, captures the best of America’s common spirit.”

If Obama’s sense of ‘patriotism’ embodies his established pattern of associations with “patriotic” individuals, such as Ayers, Wright, Pfleger, and others whom he must consider “…the best of America’s common spirit,” then color me unpatriotic.

Cause I ain’t buying it.

UPDATE, by Mark Noonan: Proving that Democrats are about as dumb as a box of rocks, another Obama surrogate opens mouth and inserts foot:

While Barack Obama was urging supporters not to devalue the military service of rival John McCain, an informal Obama adviser argued Monday that the former POW’s isolation during the Vietnam War has hobbled the Arizona senator’s capacity as a war-time leader.

“Sadly, Sen. McCain was not available during those times, and I say that with all due respect to him,” said informal Obama adviser Rand Beers…

…”So I think,” he continued, “to some extent his national security experience in that regard is sadly limited and I think it is reflected in some of the ways that he thinks about how U.S. forces might be committed to conflicts around the world.”

I wonder if Beers thinks that Obama’s experience is “sadly limited” by the fact that he was just a kid during Vietnam? Or that he didn’t serve at all, in any capacity, this great nation he aspires to govern?

Pull Every Cent of Federal Money out of Berkeley

If the Marines are uninvited, then US tax dollars should also be uninvited:

BERKELEY, Calif. - Hey-hey, ho-ho, the Marines in Berkeley have got to go.

That’s the message from the Berkeley City Council, which voted 8-1 Jan. 29 to tell the Marines that its Shattuck Avenue recruiting station “is not welcome in the city, and if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome intruders.”

In addition, the council voted to explore enforcing its law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation against the Marines, and officially encouraged the women’s peace group Code Pink to impede the work of the Marines in the city by protesting in front of the station.

In a separate council item, the council voted 8-1 to give Code Pink a designated parking space in front of the recruiting station once a week for six months and a free sound permit for protesting once a week from noon to 4 p.m.

This is disgusting and indefensible - all too typical of the hate-America left, however. But if this is the way Berkeley wants it, then we should give it to them - pull the Marines out…but also pull out every other aspect of federal power…which would include the massive amounts of money UC Berkeley gets. Pull out every red cent - Berkeley doesn’t want to be part of America, then let it get by without America…

Thanksgiving is Coming

And we have no one in our world more deserving of our thanks than the magnificent men and women of our armed forces.

So, why haven’t you gone and thanked them, already?

Geesh, someone have to hit you with a 2X4 to get your attention?

Veteran’s Day

It started out, of course, as Armistice Day; the remembrance of the end of the First World War on November 11, 1918. Over the years it changed and evolved and it was only in 1954 that an act of Congress made it official - a day we set aside each year to remember those who have served our country in uniform.

Here in 2007, it is especially important that we remember. Right now, gi\ven the result of the week and some of the political rhetoric which lead up to it, the troops are looking over their shoulder, wondering if we here at home are going to back them to victory, or not. Our very best and bravest are giving their all for the cause of liberty and the United States of America - it is altogether right and fitting that we should carry those brave men and women in our hearts today But, more than that, we should re-assure them at every turn that we won’t let them down - that we won’t let their sacrifices be in vain.

Words can never describe just what it means to be in the service of one’s country, and no benefit of a grateful people can ever repay the debt owed to those who serve - but each of us, as best we can, must do what we can to let those who serve know that we remember them, that we support them, that we pray for them and wish their efforts to be crowned by victory.

Take a little time today to remember them all - past and present. Perhaps go here and see if you can do something to help out; but, mostly, just remember - never break faith with those who have put on your country’s uniform.
