In Congress, July 4 1776

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness…

…We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these united Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States, that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. — And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.

    I’m curious as to whether any of our resident Liberals feel strongly enough about their political beliefs that they would be willing to make that same pledge today. From what I’ve seen on this blog over the course of the last 8 years, I doubt we’ll get any takers, as most of the Lefties who’ve frequented this blog don’t even have a firm grasp of what they think they know or believe, much less the inclination and dedication to defend it. If and/or when we have the societal collapse that many of us believe is inevitable, the principles of honor, duty and sacrifice, so ingrained in the Right and so foreign to the Left, are going to spell the difference between the opposing sides, just as it did between a bunch of rag-tag colonists and the Red Coats 236 years ago. And when the smoke clears, I wouldn’t want to be a Bozo, or Mitch, or Dave Bowman, or Dennis, or Watson, assuming any of them survive.

    I think the answer to your question lies in the favorite liberal motto: Move On. They don’t care to fight, they just recoil and continue to screech even more loudly. Just as they are trying to convince conservatives to do the same thing in regards to healthcare, but on this fabulous day that our country celebrates 236 years of freedom from a government centered, oppressive society – I say let’s continue the battle and long live the Tea Party!

      Happy Independence day…….July 4, 2012 All.

      just got back from Matts neck of the woods Buffalo, had a great time with all my relatives and attended my sisters 70th B day.
      Hope all enjoy our countries festivities today.

      On a side note;
      most of my and the Princesses family in WNY are democrats, most voted for the POS usurper, all of them said they will be voting for Romney this time.
      I see a land slide from my porch this nov.

    Hello friends,

    Running a little bit on the slow side tonight. But do have some power by generator. Power is still out, but crews are working feverishly to fix the damaged lines and many substations. We had 58 substations that got hit pretty hard. As many of you may know, we had a terrific storm move through last Friday evening. Millions were affected by the storm. No FEMA here, but everyone has pulled together…and the good part, it has helped to mend a lot of once broken relationships.

    My account of the storm – had just gotten home from work for the evening, and the power was flickering on and off, and I kept telling the brother that I thought there was a tornado somewhere, I saw dark clouds moving in, I waited about twenty minutes and went to the back deck, when I look to see the sky like night over the mountain…our little dog was there with me when I see a cloud of brown dust and debris flying over the mountain, I knew it was going to be bad, so I picked up “cody” our little cocker spaniel, and headed for the basement. And the next thing that happens a “freight train” rolls through for half n hour.

    Have been cutting fallen trees and helping neighbors n friends ever since.

    Estimated time for return of power is 2 days to 2 weeks.
    I look for it to be soon, crews are doing a fine job.
    I highly commend them and the work they are doing.
