Trump and the incoming House Democrats are (surprise!) at a bit of an impasse over border wall funding. Meaning, Trump wants it funded and Democrats really don’t. Some are saying that it was the GOP’s focus on immigration rather than the booming economy which cost the GOP the House…but sounds to me like Chamber of Commerce Republicans desperate to convince us that we have to get on board with open border. We know that the Democrats victory wasn’t as big as advertised. I’m thinking that Trump may be doing the right thing here – if the Democrats want a government shut down over the issue of border security, that might prove a winner for Trump and the GOP.
We might have misjudged Mexico’s new President. He’s passing out awards to Kushner and making trade and border deals with Trump…and now seems determined to really crack down on Mexico’s criminal violence. We’ll have to see how this comes out – but, hey, if he’s a genuine Mexican patriot, then good things will follow. And we’ll be able to work with him even if we disagree.
Tumlbr says it is banning naughty pictures – so, it’ll now be the go-to place for feminist screeds.
Democrats seem to have decided that going on a witch hunt against Trump is what they were elected to do. Funny, we had some hotly contested House and Senate races here during the campaign and I don’t remember a single Democrat candidate saying, “elect me and I’ll investigate Trump”. But, hey, maybe I missed those ads. My thinking: if they don’t swiftly come up with indisputable evidence of Trump malfeasance, the American people will swiftly grow weary of continuing investigations. Either you got the goods on Trump, or you don’t.
Suggestion to the GOP: lower the beer drinking age back to 18. It was raised in 1984 to 21. And it is absurd – if you’re old enough to vote and be drafted, you’re old enough to drink a beer. But, still, I think we should also annul student loan debt in arrears and make such loans subject to bankruptcy laws. There’s lots we can do to get the youngsters to take a look at our side.
Title IX is a reign of terror. Remember, it is never about justice – in fact, leftists hate justice in all its forms. It is about power – the left wants it.

After he personally made the decision to not fully verify the papers she presented, he went on to hire her. It’s right there in the story.
Oh, it’s not? Oh well, this is the NYT, so we don’t expect a lot in the way of integrity or accuracy in their “reporting”. He’s just implicated by reference, in a typical NYT hit piece, exactly the kind of slime Fielding slurps up with his morning coffee and then scurries off to post and forward because he just can’t get enough of this kind of crap.
But it gets worse. Trump was described as “demanding but kind, sometimes offering hefty tips.” The pig!

The Times, probably choking on the need to actually inject a note, however small, of reality and fairness, did admit that There is no evidence that Mr. Trump or Trump Organization executives knew of their immigration status.
That had to sting.
So—this woman breaks our laws in several ways, from entering the country illegally to using forged papers and falsifying employment applications. She gets a good job—a great job, in fact—where she is treated with kindness and respect by a very powerful man even after he is elected President of the United States. He compliments her on her work. He thanks her for doing a good job. He tips her rather lavishly. And she responds by rushing to join the Victimhood Brigade, whining that she “is tired of the abuse and insults”.
Abuse? OK, so there was no abuse. Insults? She is ticked off because he pointed out that a lot of criminals come from Central America. She claims that some other employee was mean to her, but the hit piece was not about a bullying supervisor—where’s the fun in identifying the real bad guy, when the goal is to slime Trump?
She sounds like a conniving, dishonest person betraying the trust of someone who treated her with respect, angling for some kind of big payout, a more ugly version of #metoo. In other words, to the Left, what’s not to like about her?
He wants to stop illegals as much as he wants to drain the swamp. Which is really not at all. He uses those issues rile up the rubes.

“Fielding” you are really giving that old Crystal Ball a workout. Of course, after you determine what a man is really thinking, in spite of what he says and does, you then have to run it through your Hate Filter to make sure it doesn’t, you know, run up against anything inconvenient like reason or sanity.
And then, when the result is satisfyingly spiteful and stupid and unrelated to reality, you rush over here to share it.
What is funny about your latest effort at a jibe is that it is really about you. You, and your kind, are the only ones “riled up” about what Trump says and does. Reasonable people just stand back and pay attention to what is really going on, and evaluate the results objectively, without having to have everything pre-digested for them by the Complicit Agenda Media so they know what they are supposed to “think”. You seem to be pretty riled up about Trump’s immigration stance and his efforts to clean up government, indicating that this is how you are told you are supposed to feel. You just kind of lost track of your messaging there for a moment, first getting riled up by Trump and then claiming that getting riled up by Trump is a mark of “rubes”.
That’s what happens when people are trying to remember what narrative they are supposed to be touting on which day, instead of actually thinking for themselves. We watch you guys do this all the time. It’s really rather entertaining.

And gee, what could send a better message than the double whammy of “we are so desperate we will buy your support” and “screw personal responsibility for bad decisions, we’ll bail you out if you’ll just promise to respect us afterward”.
Yes, young people got snookered. It happens. So the 21st Century snake oil salesman was a university, peddling useless degrees and appealing to the desire to legitimize nonsense because it is easy and sounds good. Whether it is time shares or treasure maps or Nigerian princes, people will always be gulled into making really stupid decisions.
Your “solution” doesn’t penalize the institutions that invented these bogus and useless programs and convinced immature people to pay outrageous prices for them. The institutions have their money. You are saying that the people who should bear the weight of foolish decisions are not those who made them, or those who sold the snake oil, but the financial institutions that acted in good faith. And that is just wrong.
Find a way to make the schools responsible for their chicanery and I might listen. But letting them off the hook with all that money in the bank for essentially useless pieces of paper along with the ability to fill young minds with toxic nonsense just doesn’t make sense.
Oh, that’s implied! I want at least 25% of the defaulted loans to be charged-back to the university.
This, to me, isn’t about mere feel-goodism. Most of the money in default will never be repaid, anyway…the kids will just never make enough money, at least in the next decade or two, to pay it back. And I don’t want to provide a bonanza for bankruptcy attorneys. So, annul it. Just make the stuff in arrears go away. Step two is to make such loans dischargable (with a five year wait period – to see if the kid does make enough money to pay back). Step three would be to end the program, completely.
As a side benefit, it would get the kiddies at least looking our way…remember, they’re the most relentlessly propagandized generation in American history. They know very little history, and what they know is spliced with fabrications. They have lived very fat, easy lives (most of them). Getting them on board – getting them to look at the side which wants Rule of Law and personal responsibility – will take some doing. Once we have power for 20 years, then we can slowly change things in the direction we want.
Nah, you’re still pandering to “youth” by telling them their problems aren’t really their fault and no, they don’t have to live with the consequences of their bad decisions and yes, Big Brother will rush in and pat them on their empty little heads and make those bad old problems go away.
I don’t agree with a plan that purports to want to bring young people over to understanding the Rule of Law, and personal responsibility, by telling them “you’re not responsible for what you do and we’re just going to help you ignore that legal contract you signed”, in hopes that once you have bribed them into, hopefully, LIKING you, then somehow for some reason they will start to respect you.
Start with the most important thing—ending student loans. If they are deemed necessary, they are made BY the schools, payable TO the schools, so if the student defaults the school is on the hook.
At the same time, cut back, wayyy back, on federal funding of colleges and universities, or at least don’t allow federal funding for silly, superficial, pseudo-education. That would mean “studies” courses.
If there is a demand that the feds continue to subsidize education, make it only for real education—-that is, for a course of study that includes real history of the United States, what we used to call “civics” classes to educate about the founding of the nation and how it is governed, classes to teach English as a real language and not just a hodgepodge of words and apostrophes, and at least two years of foreign language study, along with math and science classes.
You, Mark, are clearly a very smart man—yet you still say “reign in” instead of “rein in”. Why? Because you never had English classes that taught the structure of the language, including homonyms. That’s the kind of thing we used to learn in about third grade.
The glue that holds a society together is language, yet our language is so loosely structured and abused these days it can’t unify anyone or anything. We are no longer bound together by a shared language, a shared history or a shared culture. All we share these days is geography.
A few years ago I was talking with a man who grew up in a tiny village in the Andes, reached only by walking nearly a full day after getting off the once-weekly bus. He was telling me about Miquita, the concubine of a Spanish viceroy, a relationship that nearly cost him his career, who was the inspiration for an opera called the Italian version of the name by which she was known, La Perrachola, or The Half-Breed Bitch (literally “bitch” as “perra” is a female dog). He also had a better grasp of English grammar than most Americans, knowing for example that when comparing more than two things the word is “among”, not “between”, and that “less” refers to volume while “fewer” refers to number. Do you know a 40-year-old man or woman, product of American education, who can converse about the grammar of a foreign language and the origins of an Italian opera based on knowledge of his or her nation’s history? I don’t. And this was from an educational system we would scorn as primitive.
We are a nation which elects a president who doesn’t know how many states there are in the Union and a member of Congress who doesn’t know the difference between the branches of government and the houses of Congress. We can’t speak properly, we can’t write properly, we are ignorant of history as we adamantly insist that Columbus only went exploring so he could find new populations to destroy, we think rap is music, etc.
Trying to buy love from a bunch of silly, superficial, ignorant snowflakes in hopes that this will somehow bring them to a better acceptance and understanding of political reality is working backwards. Let them fall, let them fail, let them deal with the problem or not deal with it. Instead of trying to bribe them into political sanity, change the desperately broken system that let them get so deep in the hole.
BUT….if you really want to give them an option. let them trade $10,000 in student loan debt for every year of honorable and productive military service—kind of a reverse GI Bill.

In an article that I originally missed a few days ago, Kurt Schlichter asks an excellent and appropriate question.
I recall an undercover FBI agent who infiltrated the Weather Underground back in the 70’s who testified that Bill Ayers and his pals figured they might have to eliminate as many as 25 million Americans if their goal of creating a Marxist state could be realized. I suspect there are still more than a few radical Leftists who, while they might not say it publicly, believe the same thing.
The left never wavers at killing – they, naturally, expect others to do it for them. Back in the 70s, the American left was hoping that black Americans would do their killing for them. Now, I suspect, they are hoping recent immigrants will. The Vanguard of the Proletariat never manages to find itself at the front lines of the battle. Macron, in France, is showing the world how the left does things…unlike the American Army, the French Army is raised specifically to enforce the will of the government…as are most European military forces. This is why no one in Europe has a right to own a gun.
Now, I suspect, they are hoping recent immigrants will.
Makes sense since Obama already armed many of them through Fast & Furious. In fact, they’re probably the only ones on the Left who aren’t afraid of guns.
Your comment about the Left being afraid of guns reminded me—-I have a couple of young boys, 11 and 13, who help me out on my farm. They are great kids, well brought up by parents who have somehow kept them from being affected by our cultural rot. They are also shooters, their dad has an FFL and they have been reloading their own ammo since they were about 5.
The other day a teacher of the older boy made the comment that “guns kill people” and he responded, very politely but very firmly, “if guns kill people then I would have been dead years ago”.

Spook, I have read quotes from “environmentalists” who have openly said they would like to see all of humanity eliminated so the planet could go back to being what they believe it should be.
Millions of Muslims (and many believe ALL Muslims) believe that all Jews should be eliminated. There is a clip of a David Horowitz college lecture in which a “moderate” Muslim woman scolds him for claiming Islam is violent and hateful, and he responds with a question, paraphrased here: “Do you agree, or disagree, with the statement by (blank) that he wishes all Jews would return to Israel so they could all be killed in one place and we would not have to hunt them down all around the world to eliminate them”? And her response was “Agree”.
That’s a few million right there—-and anti-Semitism is rising on the Left, to the point of becoming an identifying element.
