Chris Christie to Announce 2012 Intentions Today

That’s the word. Personally, I don’t see him jumping in. And it wouldn’t matter anyway because once vetted he wouldn’t win the nomination anyway. The only person who would benefit from Christie jumping in the race at this point is Rick Perry.

What do you think? Is he in or out?

UPDATE: Sources say he is NOT running.

Having once been a huge admirer of Christie’s, I think he should stay out. I still like the guy, but have some reservations.

Other than talking tough to some pro-union crowds, I don’t see a whole lot to get excited about with Christie. Let’s look at his record after one or two terms as NJ Governor — then we’ll see.

So who prosecutes the highest law enforcement official in the country?

Article II, Section 2, clause 2 grants the President the power to “appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers…in the President alone.”

The power to appoint “inferior Officers” mentioned in Article II vests in the President only by Congressional approval. While Congress cannot itself exercise the power to make such appointments, Congress may vest this power in the judiciary or in Cabinet officials. In Morrison v. Olson, 487 U.S. 654 (1988), the Supreme Court clarified the line between principal officers and inferior officers, leaving essentially only Cabinet Members, federal judges, and ambassadors in the higher category. One important example of an “inferior Officer” position is that of Independent Counsel (a special prosecutor), which means that Congress may vest the power to appoint Independent Counsel in the judiciary, ensuring impartiality when issues arise concerning the executive branch.

I doubt very much I would ever vote for Mr. Christie but he should run. Then maybe he might explain his stance on the 2nd Amendment, coal power issues, and why he appointed a person with ties to the muslim brotherhood to the NJ Supreme Court, to a wide national audience.

I do admire Mr.Christies stance on certian things like monetary issues. His straight talk is refreshing. There is courage there. But money issues are not my main concern. Money may not be the cause of all evil but it is certainly the root.
