Obama Administration, Meet Accountability

Hoo-ah!

Rep. Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, sent a subpoena Wednesday to Attorney General Eric Holder as part of his investigation into the gun trafficking operation known as “Fast and Furious.”

“Top Justice Department officials, including Attorney General Holder, know more about Operation Fast and Furious than they have publicly acknowledged,” the California Republican said in a statement. “The documents this subpoena demands will provide answers to questions that Justice officials have tried to avoid since this investigation began eight months ago. It’s time we know the whole truth.”

I hope Issa hangs tough with this corrupt regime, and Forces them to come up with the truth. They are used to ‘bullying, lying and cheating, in order to do what they Want-laws be damned”. They should be in jail for the things they’ve done, and Issa needs to not ‘roll over and just go away’. They are used to ‘rolling over their enemies’-aka Saul Alinsky style, and NOT be held accountable. That has to END.

Does Issa’s committee have the power to order a Federal Marshall to serve an arrest warrant on Holder if he fails to comply (which he almost certainly will) with the subpoena?

BTW, does ANYONE believe that there are ANY pertinent documents that have not been shredded at this point?

      I certainly hope not!

That would certainly put the issue of separation of powers and co-equal governance in a headlong race toward a Constitutional crises.

        CE

I think only a special prosecutor could do that.

      • Retired Spook's avatar RetiredSpook October 12, 2011 / 1:55 pm

Maybe not a Federal Marshall, but (and I haven’t read all the cases) it appears that the Senate Sergeant at Arms may be able to arrest the Attorney General. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. The extent to which this administration is a criminal enterprise may be end up being one of the foremost 2012 campaign issues.

      Spook,

A subpoena carries the weight of the court.

Do you remember any case when the Bush Administration failed to comply with a subpoena?

I could not remember, so I looked it up.

Article XXVII of the Articles of Impeachment filed against President George W. Bush by Congressmen Kucinich and Wexler listed 9 subpoenas that the Bush Administration failed to comply with.

    Let’s see ….

Arming Nicaraguan rebels to fight communists….really raelly bad. Endless coverage in the media and many hours of Congressional hearings.

Arming drug cartels to kill border guards …not so bad. Media coverage scant to non-existent and liberals are very hesitant to call for Congressional hearings.

    Another typical liberal double standard.

As more evidence emerges, it appears more and more likely that high-ranking administration officials in both the Justice and State Departments not only lied to the American people, but also conspired to increase the number of US firearms being smuggled into Mexico. This week Wikileaks (certainly not a pro-gun group) released diplomatic cables exposing a whole other side to the scandal.

Shortly after President Obama took office in January 2009, Attorney General Eric Holder and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton launched a coordinated effort to pass more gun control laws here in the U.S.. The justification? 90% of military style semi-automatic rifles used in the cartel wars in Mexico were bought in U.S. gun stores and smuggled across the boarder.

There was only one problem: It was all a big lie. We now know that not only did the Justice Department know that the 90% figure was inaccurate, the State Department knew where the bulk of the rifles were actually coming from: Central America and U.S. sales to the Mexican Military.

December 28th 2010: The first whistle-blowing agent makes contact with gun rights media reporters David Codrea and Mike Vanderboegh.

This first agent states that the program’s purpose was to increase the number of US guns recovered in Mexico in order to justify further gun control laws in the US and increase ATF’s budget.

high crimes & misdemeanors and TREASON.

You won’t find liberals standing up for Holder. If it takes Issa to force a resignation, GOOD! Holder has done nothing, and I mean NOTHING during his tenure but incarcerate a whistleblower without due process, pardon a guilty conviction against Ted Stevens and play a lot of solitaire. He was a huge disappointment from the start, and he has fulfilled liberal expectations (i.e. do-nothing corporate poser) since.
