CNN GOP Debate

Are you watching? What do you think?

UPDATE: I got home late and missed a big chunk of the debate, but from what I saw, I found Rick Perry to be a mediocre debater. Mitt Romney was polished, but isn’t as smart or well spoken as Newt Gingrich was. Herman Cain’s foreign policy weakness’s came through a bit as well.

In the end, I was impressed the most by Newt Gingrich, he’s smart, and he doesn’t allow himself to throw mud. He’s substance, style, and class. Mitt and Perry going at each other bothers me. Republicans shouldn’t attack each other like they are fighting a Democrat.

My thoughts are that Anderson Cooper was enjoying it when the Republicans fought amongst themselves. I think that Rick Perry had more energy but he may be finished because it just wasn’t enough.

It’s a very interesting split – Herman Cain, Ron Paul or Mitt Romney. I may say that I am in very strong agreement with Ron Paul on cutting off all foreign aid to other countries. I, personally, am very isolationist, but Ron Paul gets us moving in that direction and for that I am pleased. Isolationism, cultural identity, free market and small government = the key to strength.

On December 7, 1940, The United States was very isolated, had a very strong cultural identity, a very free market, and a government a lot smaller than we have now.

One year later we were involved in a war that consumed 20 million lives.

      Fun stuff eh?

I can see why my favorite, Newt Gingrich, is moving up in the polls. When all is said and done, Newt is the only one that looks and sounds presidential. I would love to see Gingrich in a debate with Obama. It would be lights out for the chosen one! I think Gingrich brings a whole lot more more of a Reagan conservatism to the debate table than any of the other candidates. I agree with much of what Ron Paul stands for; I just don’t think he or Michelle Bachman could beat Obama. Romney came across pretty strong but I’m not convinced he would be the best representative of the conservative branch of the republican party. Gingich (president) and Cain (VP) would make for an interesting ticket!.

Santorum – articulate, sanctimonious preppie; comes across as an ankle-biter.

Paul – principled, persistent and courageous, also a bit peevish (maybe due to being the lone ranger on so many important issues).

Cain – homespun, unpretentious and decent. Totally clueless on foreign policy, not ready for prime time.

Mitt – the big dog. Like it or not he’s got the mojo – even if he squandered some of his dignity sparring with Perry he’s got more in his suitcase.

Perry – strident, cocky and intellectually hollow. He’s the male version of Sarah Palin only meaner and way less perky.

Newt – the undisputed brains of the group. His suggestion for debates was spot on – unfortunately he carries way too much baggage to be nominee of the current GOP.

Bachmann – bizarre dual loyalty to Israel and U.S. – why would anyone choose a double agent for high office? However she’s far more disciplined and articulate than Palin, and her evangelical creds make her attractive to many GOPers. A likely VP choice.

Realizing that we are not electing the Pope, Gingrich was the smartest politician on the stage, and maybe the smartest politician currently in politics, and I am glad to see others here who agree. Gingrich has the right ideas, has the right experience, and would absolutely wipe the floor with Obama during any debate they would have. I only hope other conservatives can get past their delicate sensitivities to consider him.

I lost all faith in Perry last night, agreed with Paul on a lot, and realized that Bachmann, Santorum, and Cain are not ready. I still lean towards Romney, but if Newt can get some momentum, I would definitely become a supporter.

Perry: Mitt, you hired someone who hired illegal immigrants years ago.
Mitt: You have a whole state full of illegal immigrants.
I’m sure with a little investigation someone could say that Perry continues to eat food that was raised by farmers who hire illegal immigrants and Perry refuses to stop eating that food.

Newt should have pointed that out and told Perry to leave the stage and come back in four years when he grows up.

replace chavez with Obamama, and Venezuela with the US.
and cuba with commie donks. that is where we are at today.

        =====================================================

To date, however, Chávez has no credible successor.
But he does have his fanatic supporters, Chavistas, along with plenty of help from Cuba. Large numbers of Cuban intelligence agents now operate in Venezuela in support of Chávez’s regime.

Venezuela has provided Cuba with economic largess and regular shipments of oil; accordingly, Cuba can be counted on to do all it can to make sure Venezuela remains an ideological and economic alley.

Unfortunately, Chávez has so completely polarized his country that it will be difficult for Venezuelans to repair the damage he has done. He has taken three bad ideas from Venezuela’s past — statism, authoritarianism, and populism — and taken them to epic levels. Anti-Americanism has become more prevalent than ever. And large swaths of Venezuela’s economy have been nationalized.

The opposition will have much work to do to find a candidate to appeal to Venezuela’s poor majority; and even if an opposition candidate prevails, a new government will face an epic task to undo Chávez’s damage — soaring levels of corruption, crime, and dysfunctional governance. Venezuela’s state oil company, critical to government revenues, is a shadow of itself thanks to Chávez’s mismanagement.

Even without Chávez (or a Chávez clone), Venezuela will take years to recover from the damage Chávez has done with his leftist and anti-American agenda.

        J.R.

not only is there no irony in that statement, but the fact that you loonies think our economy will collapse due to the debt is laughable.

if you look at bond rates for our debt, you’d see that they are not only low, but incredibly stable. There is NO hint of inflation at all.

Furthermore, when markets get spooked, where do they run? You betcha, the dollar! why? because we have a reserve currency and our economy is the largest and most diverse of any on earth.

Fear mongers like yourself and neo, are either stupid, or misinformed, or both. The US will never have to default on any debt simply because investors will always buy our bonds due to market volatility and lack of alternatives.

do bother to learn something J.R. maybe you will indulge us and tell us why there hasn’t been an inflationary spike like your side predicted, or a great crash like your side predicted for many years now. (think spook and Mark). ??? Anything?

I like Cain, didnt like his islam or rock missteps. I will rack it up to inexperience.

Cain has all the business, finance, brains to be POTUS.
He lacks foreign experience but what governor does not?

This is going to be a down and out dirty, bloody, nasty, vulgar campaign brought upon us by black racists, union thugs, looters, commies, radicals and anarchists.

Cain has the least baggage, best credentials (my opinion) and he is BLACK, our ace in the hole, trumps the commie left racist card.

I am for now officially for Cain!

SERIOUSLY???? A WEAK field? Say it ain’t SO!

This field is weaker than water.

They’re so weak they make Dennis Kook-spinach look like He Man!

They’re so weak they can’t raise their own expectations.

They’re so weak that one 5 Hour Energy drink could power their brains for a year.

They’re so weak they make the Macarena look jolly.

They’re so weak Carrot Top doesn’t find them funny and Adam Sandler won’t do a movie about them.

They’re so weak a toaster oven could outwit them.

They’re so weak they give up faster than a Frenchman.

They’re so weak they can’t work as many hours as a Greek.

They’re so weak they can’t draw a conclusion, drive home a point, pound sand or break sweat.

        Really really weak!

Neo, thats where I am leaning too. Not all the way there yet but I do believe that if by the time the Illinois primary rolls around in march and it hasn’t been decided yet, I will vote for Cain.

Sorry folks, anybody but bams just doesn’t cut it.

    Live with it.

        PS

Cain is the ONLY candidate to produce a plan to fix the horrid income tax system we are now saddled with, That takes BA!!S to roll this out early during the debates.

Plus the electrified fence, only humor but you get the point where he stands on the border.

Dividing the country along racjal and economic lines

      Union payoffs

How many time does it have to be explained?

I see no difference between a progressive democrat and a progressive republican. In the end, progressivism still wins.

Anyone but bams still is not good enough.

Convince me that rolling back the progressive agenda will be started with your favorite candidate and I will quit being a purist, a radical, a freak, or what ever silly little label you want to put on me.

        Can you do it?

        Yeah, neo.

obAMATEUR cannot run on “Four more years” and “are you better off than before” – the protests prove that.

He has to resort to class warfare because that is the only thing he has left – his “jobs” bill (errrrrr tax bill) and the protests and his support for them prove that.

And what is worse, the dumbed-down, useful idiot, leftist drones don’t get it.

Neo, believe it or not its not really abou religion. Its about the trust worthiness of the folks who run for office. If they have a history of breaking trusts, what makes anyone think they will change thier ways.

If a man stands up in front of an audience and tells the people one thing then proceeds to do another, what does that say about them? What does that say about people that continually vote for them?

The US needs to cut off all foreign aid. The continent of Africa and the caribbean island ‘nation’ of Haiti are hopeless, so let’s start there. When we illustrate the benefits of cutting foreign aid, by cutting aid to those first two areas of the world, then we need to cut off aid to Israel and everywhere else. Then we start cutting all welfare in the United States. A new era shall be ushered in!

I think Herman Cain is the type of Presidential material we are looking for.
He’s strong on both social and financial issues.
I do like Newt Gingrich for his maturity, and he swiftly does away with any myths about his record, as well as debate tactics my moderators that might otherwise go off topic from the more important issues facing the country.
So Newt is also presidential material.

Mitt Romney and Rick Perry seem like two school kids, arguing back and forth about who is “worse”, and who is “better.” Neither qualify in my opinion.

Michelle Bachmann is smart … and seems like a humble person, and she has what it takes, I think, to do the job, but I’m not too sure people are giving her the credit that is due her. So maybe she will have to wait a few years. For some reason people don’t seem too ready for a woman President, when I think a woman could handle the job just as good or better than a man could. I know it’s always been the man that has taken the duty, but I think there’s always room to try it the other way around. And just see how it goes.

But right now, I’m leaning toward Cain!

As I said in the beginning, I think Gingrich and Cain would make a great ticket. Romney is a RINO, republican progressive. We need someone that more closely resembles President Reagan. It was because of Reagan (not Clinton) that we experienced the longest period of economic growth and bull market.Gingrich more closely resembles the type of leadership this country needs.
