Newt Beats Obama in New Poll

A new Rasmussen poll show Newt Gingrich beating Obama with Likely Voters.

The Newt Gingrich surge has moved him to the top of the polls in Iowa, big gains in New Hampshire and now a two-point edge over President Obama in a hypothetical general election match-up.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Voters finds Gingrich attracting 45% of the vote while President Obama earns support from 43%. Six percent (6%) prefer some other candidate, and six percent (6%) are undecided.

And for those of you still on the fence, here’s 11 reasons why Newt will be the GOP nominee.

Newt gets destroyed by Obama in the general election. Newt has no charisma, no good will, lots of baggage considering an electorate which spends more time worrying about how to vote for American Idol than who should be president.

If you want elect-ability the best bet is Romney. If you want a slim chance of winning but at least a fiscal conservative you go with Ron Paul.

Do you think that the big economic news today, right before Christmas, right before the campaign season is coincidence? Wall street has appropriately chastised Obama and now they can help him win. Better the dupe you already control than the one you don’t yet control.

A pile of doggy doo doo has more charisma than Newt and bams combined. A pile of doggy doo doo will beat bams in 2012.

Now if we could just find a pile of doggy doo doo interested in being potus.

You might want to look at Christie’s recent ban on hydraulic fracturing before getting too excited about him. It was a craven submission to the anti-drilling crowd.

        Amazona,
As you know I’m still not sold on Gingrich and may never be. Regardless of that all of the candidates currently in the Republican race are infinitely superior to the dimocrats.

I’m also not convinced that Obama is going to run; no candidate that was serious about running for president would be as detached and aloof as Obama. He didn’t even bother to make a show of supporting the Super Committee; he’s made a spectacle of himself with conspicuous consumption at taxpayer expense; he has made no effort to muzzle the First Mooch in her daily hypocrisies and his class-warfare has not been a successful strategy for a national politician in years. Notice I wrote “successful” since dimocrats still play this with regularity but the poor results indicate that it’s a strategy best left to subordinates and not heralded from the party head.

Some have proffered that the president’s boorish behavior is that he is so convinced of his own infallibility he doesn’t believe that he needs to groom for the interview; he believes he’s entitled to the job so why try to impress anyone? He has his loyal brain-dead minions (like our trolls) that believe they can win by demonstrating who the biggest ass is. (Notice how “james” entirely misses the fact that Rasmussen is the most current poll?)

Oh, and I just love the George HW “Bush had more charisma than …” Really? George HW Bush demonstrated charisma ??? Oh, and Nixon was a terribly charismatic fellow as well! And carter and LBJ, people just couldn’t stay away when George and Jimmah and Dick and Lyndon were at a party! This ain’t a s t r e a c h at all, is it?

        Count of stupidity,

. (Notice how “james” entirely misses the fact that Rasmussen is the most current poll?)

notice how you forget to mention that the results are AVERAGED and that’s what the table is showing. you forget to mention that the rasmussen poll is of LIKELY voters, NOT registered voters.

I take it that you will stay home if Romney wins the nomination as he is bound to do….??? At least have a little dignity like GMB does and stick to your beliefs….if you have any.

Well, dolf, the left-leaning lemmings may go for charisma two times in a row, but I wouldn’t bet on fooling as many people as got suckered in last time by fluff and platitudes.

And Barry’s so-called ‘charisma’ has proved to be as much an illusion, or fabrication, as his much-vaunted eloquence. Both are wearing thin, with the reality, charisma-wise, of an arrogant, petulant, surly, manchild with a massive sense of entitlement and an overblown ego.

Obama had more charisma than McCain.
Bush had more charisma than Gore or Kerrey.
Clinton had more charisma Bush Sr. or Dole.
Bush Sr. had more charisma than Dukakis.
Reagan had more charisma than Carter or Mondale.
Arguably, Carter had more charisma than Ford.

    Amazona,

I don’t know the reason Christie banned fracking in NJ, but I would be surprised if it was kow towing to a special interest group. I would like to hear his reasons though, and then would like to show him what’s going on in ND. Outside of that, I still haven’t heard any plausible reason why anyone would vote for Obama again. Like Count said, Obama seems so detached lately, that I sometime wonders if he even cares. I would still like to hear from Obama, or one of his minions, on what his plan is for a second term, or does policy matter anymore in liberal circles.

      GMB,

Boehner is doing what any adult, rational moderate GOP member does….COMPROMISE and move the country forward. It’s about time he ignored the rookies in the house GOP caucus, they are a cancer to our society.

On another note, what does it mean when you say one of ours? Are you claiming that you are more of an American than me? or Boehner? or anyone else who disagrees with you?

I’d like an explanation on that egotistical point.

      • Green Mountain Boy's avatar Green Mountain Boy December 1, 2011 / 10:43 am

What was meant that boener casts himself as a conservative republican. He is not. Compromise when you lock one idealogical wing out of negotiations? LOL

        You are stretching again.

      • James's avatar James December 1, 2011 / 11:16 am

on the contrary. Boehners record speaks for itself.

and he is locking out the teaparty wing because they aren’t interested in compromising.

how many times have YOU said the time for compromise is over? well that’s exactly why Boehner decided to “lock” them out. to me, its more like putting them in timeout and teaching them who is a rookie, and who is the speaker!

are you planning on voting in the general election GMB?

  21. Green Mountain Boy's avatar Green Mountain Boy December 1, 2011 / 10:40 am

I have voted in every election since I turned 18. That does not mean I have cast a ballot for every office though. Both in 2004 and 2008 I skipped the presidential ballots and will do so again if the the repubs nominate another progressive. Never again will I vote for the lesser of two evils as they say and I do not expect anyone else to do so.

Which has caused me just a little bit of trouble with a couple of other so called conservatives on this blog. Unlike you, I attack repubs and donkyrats almost equally here. I have yet to see you say anything bad about a donkyrat. Despite loads of evidence of cronyism, corruption, and outright criminality, the donks get a pass in your book.

Despite 8 years of GWB being called every name in the book, you get outraged when bams is called Ochimpy.

Yes, I do plan plan on voting in 2012. And yes I will probably skip the presidential slot once again. Unless either Ron Paul or Michelle Bachman is on the ballot. Or maybe the conservatives can hold the repub convention hostage and broker a true conservative like Sarah Palin or Scott Walker as the candidate.

Here I agree and disagree as I have voted ever since I turned 18 but I will take the lesser of two evils and try to get any advantage in the House and Senate to make the PotUS lean towards my direction.

The thing I do not understand is why everyone thinks Conservatives need to compromise to get elected as it is not the whishy-washy “Independents” that elects people based on moderate or centralized beliefs–it is the positions of the candidates that do not try to be something to everyone–those that actually believe in what they say.

Here is a good read by someone I really like & trust in this arena–Thomas Sowell: http://rightwingnews.com/column-2/lessons-of-history/

I can not bring myself to vote Ron Paul (but he would be great in dismantling the Fed) and I really hope Cain is not toast after a scorched earth series of attacks (with the first 4 directly linked to Axelrod and the last with a track record of this kind of attacks) because Cain and/or Bachman are the two in the race I am hoping survive. That and wondering if Palin would join back in.

        DB

Cain is burned toast, and Bachman is poling @ 3% so not a chance.
        which is sad.
the marxist press is indeed a dangerous lot.
