The Weekly Standard links to a new Rasmussen poll that shows Newt not only uniting the Tea Party, but also independent voters.
Moreover, Gingrich is winning not only among Republicans but also among those independents who are likely to vote in a Republican primary — in both cases by a margin of about 2 to 1. Among Republicans, he’s winning by a tally of 40 to 18 percent (over Romney). Among those independents who are likely to vote in a Republican primary, he’s winning by a tally of 30 to 17 percent (over Ron Paul).
Are you ready to stand with Newt?
Newt is a great candidate for modern conservatism. Not only is Newt entirely full of it, he also knows that conservatives are idiots. He lies straight to your stupid faces and you all just nod along.

How long do you let people lie right to your face about something totally, provably false without it starting to make you think.
“How long do you let people lie right to your face about something totally, provably false without it starting to make you think.”
Wow, stumpy, I see that irony is lost on you.
You should be asking yourself and your fellow mindless drones this question concerning the pResident, obAMATEUR.
“$69 million in California welfare money drawn out of state.
Las Vegas tops the list with $11.8 million spent at casinos or taken from ATMs, but transactions in Hawaii, Miami, Guam and elsewhere also raise questions. Officials say budget cuts hinder investigations.
Reporting from Sacramento — More than $69 million in California welfare money, meant to help the needy pay their rent and clothe their children, has been spent or withdrawn outside the state in recent years, including millions in Las Vegas, hundreds of thousands in Hawaii and thousands on cruise ships sailing from Miami.”
State-issued aid cards have been used at hotels, shops, restaurants, ATMs and other places in 49 other states, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam, according to data obtained by The Times from the California Department of Social Services. Las Vegas drew $11.8 million of the cash benefits, far more than any other destination. The money was accessed from January 2007 through May 2010.”
Newt’s mistake was referring to the welfare as “food stamps.” It’s clear he was correct in what he stated, only wrong on the specific form of welfare used in the egregious abuses.
How about demonstrating that ability to think …. Never mind, I expect too much from the troll creeps.
Well
If Newt hadn’t said Obama = food stamp president 1000000 times we might believe he meant welfare.
His statistics and anecdotes were truthful.
Although it is a federal government program, it is run by state or local agencies. In California the food stamp program is administered via “Dignity Cards” and aren’t called “stamps” anymore. The very cards used in the fraud I cited.
In spite of Politifacts obvious agenda, Newt was correct that funds from the Federal Food Stamp program intended for food were used for Hawaiian vacations and Las Vegas restaurants.
Seriously though, fraud in the welfare system and Obama as the Food Stamp President are self-evident; aren’t we picking fly $hit out of the pepper?
Count
If you can show that fraud (as a percentage) has increased with the Obama administration you’d have a point. If most of the rest of the Western world was not in a recession and the US was in one you might have a point about Obama economic policies causing the increase in food stamp use.
Politifacts agenda aside, it is plausible that military families on food stamps are using them in Hawaii because that is the latest place they have been stationed. Unless you think serving in the military in Hawaii is a vacation you are grasping at straws.
How about fiscal conservatives stopping out of control government spending before worrying about more tax cuts?
” you might have a point about Obama economic policies causing the increase in food stamp use.
Actually ~ I didn’t say that. Obama is President; the largest % and # of Food Stamp recipients have exist during his Presidency. The Food Stamp President characterization is accurate.
California “Dignity Cards” were used in Hawaii, California military don’t receive California “Dignity Cards” in Hawaii, they do receive Hawaiian Food Stamps.
“How about fiscal conservatives stopping out of control government spending before worrying about more tax cuts?”
Where the hell did that come from?
How about school teachers stopping entrance exam cheating before worrying about grade inflation?
How about parents stopping Gwen Stefani handbags before worrying about Lady GaGa meat dresses?

I’m really, really sorry. It’s Friday.
You’ve raised valid points. 🙂
If we don’t worry about the shape of these things, who will?
Newt’s plan for poor children is exactly what needs to take place, and is far more compassionate than anything a liberal has ever offered. We need to teach these kids the value of a dollar, and a work ethic, which will serve them well as they progress through life. Work builds character and self esteem, and these kids are not getting that from their parents, nor from their schools and certainly not from Democrats.
Go Newt!
Cluster,
Many of “Newt’s Plan(s)” would be popular were they to ever get a fair hearing. But toadstools like that penguin-Obscenity or that Sunny-fool will continue to misrepresent in self-righteous superiority and mock Newt or anyone that dares expose their nefarious orthodoxy.
will continue to misrepresent in self-righteous superiority and mock Newt or anyone that dares expose their nefarious orthodoxy.
And therein lies the problem. Their lack of critical thought is an obstacle, but we can, and must, overcome it.
“Really poor children, in really poor neighborhoods have no habits of working and have nobody around them who works so they have no habit of showing up on Monday,” he insisted. “They have no habit of staying all day, they have no habit of I do this and you give me cash, unless it is illegal.”
Cluster states “. . .and certainly not from Democrats”. So, if a person is a Democrat, apparently they are lazy, have no parenting skills and fail to teach our children the value of a dollar. What a bigoted statement to make. It is this kind of thinking and spouting nonsense that keeps the two parties so far apart. The superiority attitude of conservatives is such a turn off for so many people – and you wonder why ethnic groups, different religious groups, those that are considered by conservatives as unacceptable – refuse to vote for Republicans. The truth of the matter is – many of us who identify ourselves as Democrats or Independents are fiscally responsible, hard working, church going people who nurture our children and grandchildren and raise them to be productive adults. With the attitude of so many conservatives that “you are better than the rest of us” – is such a turn off. You have no soul, no humanity. And you deserve to lose to Democrats even if you have better ideas because of your superiority attitude. You really need to rethink how you state things. You are insulting and as a result, people come to resent you and your party even though we have many of the same interests and same policies. To make a blanket statement that Democrats are bad, bad, bad and Republicans (conservatives) are the good guys does nothing bring unity and do what is best for our country.
scummy
do some research on demographics …say on welfare, prison, crime, drug addiction, long term unemployed, on disability, section 8 housing, food stamps, etc etc etc.
May be an eye opener for you drone.
Velma = self-righteous superiority
Does anyone suppose Velma sees the irony in her sweeping hypercritical diatribe and blanket generalizations?
Well, capt, you certainly do not recognize your own superiority blather you spout everyday. It would be impossible for someone with your superior attitude to recognize that both sides could come together on many issues, but the name calling and attitude from the right does not give one much incentive to even try.
WOW Velma!
You really put me in my place!
Do you think someday i can be as perfectly wonderful and non-judgmental as you?
“Work builds character and self esteem, and these kids are not getting that from their parents,”
Yes we need our country to be more like a third world hellhole, repeal all those child labor laws, that will help as much as repealing all those banking regulations.
Yes we need our country to be more like a third world hellhole, repeal all those child labor laws, that will help as much as repealing all those banking regulations.
Not just a straw man but a drooling, moronic, Village Idiot straw man.
I wonder, is stumpy really arguing that working is bad, or just too invested in snarling at everything any conservative says that looking like an abject fool while doing it is OK with him?
As the statement is that work builds character, and he finds that statement so offensive he has to stoop to pretty much any ludicrous effort to respond to it, it appears that he finds character to be irrelevant—-which we have already gleaned from his posts.
The frantic comments from @bloodypenquinstump is the proof that Newt is the nominee the contemptible Left fears most. Let’s make sure their fears are realized.

“Because the Only Good Progressive is a Failed Progressive”
“Newt’s mistake was referring to the welfare as “food stamps.”
Ah one of those old ‘mistakes’ that happen to be gigantic lies that conservavites make over and over and over and over. You know that type of ‘accident’ where you claim 50 percent of people pay no taxes, then when you get called on your bs you pretend everyone knew what you really meant and you weren’t just lying your ass off. Those types of mistakes seem to make up the majority of conservative talking points. Do you feel strange that the only way you can make a point is to lie?
And right on cue; proven wrong (again) so the libiots resort to projection and changing the subject. You are truly a predictable and contemptible little maggot.
a Maggot and a LIAR….Yuuup
Newt said NOTHING about “repealing” child labor laws, when asked about that he said It was a LIE!!!!
he said they should be able to work after school AT school, the library, or do some light janitorial work like emptying waste baskets for some extra money, and to learn work ethics.
I have worked since I was 10 yo, paper routes, shoveling driveways, mowing lawns, cleaning garages, basements etc…….
THAT is what Newt was referring to too bad the Moron drones do not have the mental abilities to understand that.
lets see the beginning of the month, the soros and media matters checks must have arrived.
lots of O’s flying monkey brigades here last two days, flinging their favorite crap.
Why do liberals have to make up lies about any opposing candidate? We have velma right on cue regurgitating these lies first with the “divorce papers on the deathbed” and now the “child labor laws repeal”.
Well, what can we expect from someone who, right on cue, regurgitates the GOP wants dirty air and dirty water, nonsense.
Look up “mindless” and “drone” in the dictionary and you will see her picture next to them.
Pathetic.
I addressed Velma’s squealing about those “deathbed divorce papers” but as usual, facts get in the way of her toxic spewing. She is really a vile creature, isn’t she, so overflowing with hatred and vitriol that she is careful to never let any of it get replaced with fact, truth, reality or fairness.
Are food stamps at an all time high? And why are you opposed to children working? Are you afraid they might learn how to be independent? And escape the death drip of democrats?
Clueless
Is there any evidence that Newt worked as a teenager?
His biography seems to be
1. Dad worked for the government.
2. Spent a decade in college.
3. Government job (University) where he was fired.
4. Bigger government job where he was fined $300,000 and essentially fired.
5. Used influence from government job to sell books and influence.
baldork
you just described Ochimpy to a tee except you forgot the AA in front of everything.
‘dolf,
Really? He went to college for 10 years?
Right, that’s the problem with Gingrich.
His “dad” was his Stepfather who was a military officer (is that your idea of “worked for the government”?)
Attacking his personal history is a strategy best left to the leftists and other assorted trolls; why not post some policy disagreements instead of this childish romp through his personal dirty laundry?
Count
His ‘dad’ was his ‘dad’. Adopting a child makes you the real ‘dad’ unless you want to play lefty politics. The military is a government job last I checked.
You’ve cleaned horse stalls, I’ve bagged ice in 6 day 12 hour shift work weeks as a teen. I see no evidence of Newt having the same formative experience.
Soooo, on what personal basis does Newt get to lecture people about hard work building character for teenagers?
Soooo, on what personal basis does Newt get to lecture people about hard work building character for teenagers? – stool
Do you have to have played football, to be a coach?
why not post some policy disagreements instead of this childish romp through his personal dirty laundry?
Count, I think you know the answer to that. It’s what you have been teaching me lately.
I had my first “job” when I was 12. I cleaned out houses under construction. It taught me responsibility and gave me the ability to save money for what I wanted.
Why are liberals so afraid of children working at small easy jobs? Perhaps it will teach them they don’t have to depend on government for their survival and livelihood.
GASP! – reducing the dependent class, the death knell of “progressives”.
“The frantic comments from @bloodypenquinstump is the proof that Newt is the nominee the contemptible Left fears most.”
Not really, I don’t think any of them would win. So I don’t have much fear of them collectively, I do think it would be more entertaining and destructive to the republican brand if one of the kooks were to get the nomination. Newt is on the sleazy end of the teetertotter farther away from the kooky end than some. The kooky end provides more humorous gaffs, the sleazy end may provide more ammunition against them. The kooks can claim they are being picked on for their stupid beliefs by big mean bullies who use facts and logic, the sleazeballs can only claim that their personal lives and sleazy money deals should be off limits this time around.

the sleazeballs can only claim that their personal lives and sleazy money deals should be off limits this time around.
Speaking of sleazy. Did you see that Rezko went to prison? Which President did he have close ties to?
By “close ties” do you mean “helping buy a very expensive house”? THAT kind of “close”–as opposed, for example, to his kids playing with Obama’s kids?
(Referencing, of course, the claim that this explained Obama’s relationship with Ayers, though Ayers’ children are adults. Yecchh.)
And speaking of Ayers, I note that everyone is verrrry careful to only refer to Bill, and not the lovely MRS Ayers, whose domestic terrorist activities DID kill people (while Bill was still just trying…) and whose real claim to adoration by the Left was her using her fingers to imitate the fork jabbed repeatedly into the unborn child in the womb of butchered Sharon Tate.
Sunny, bloody & Wallace (sounds like an S&M bar), are simply hyper sensitive drama queen liberals, who are lashing out at folks that are unlike them, and at ideas they can not comprehend. It’s very scary for them to be confronted by folks who have a different ideology. To them, this world would work best if everyone was the same.
Cluster
they are PAID agents provocateur Trolls.
and like them LOSERS who cant make with out big BRO and OPM.
“you are in the minority in this country”
Hahahahahah, Oh, STOP, yer killin me Smalls!
Cluster,
I hope you learned something here; Velma has demonstrated exactly how we can all get along without name calling, being judgmental, self-absorbed, self-righteous or condescending you pompous little prick!
Sunny. I have read your argument and after pondering it for some time have come to the conclusion that you are full of one hundred percent pure gorilla dust. 🙂
h/t J. Carney
Sunny,
Thank you for proving my drama queen point. I wasn’t attacking every individual democrat Sunny, I am saying that the democrat platform, as a party, has never really championed hard work, individual responsibility, drive, or initiative.
I think you read way too much into that comment, especially with the part about Obama. Relax.
“One of the reasons so many right wing conservatives hate President Obama is because he is different from their idea of what an American president should be.”
And, just like the mindless drone she truly is, velma brings up race! All the other minutia is just a bunch of BS.
No velma, we don’t hate him. We attack HIS POLICIES AND IDEOLOGY and not the PERSONALITY as you liberals love to do with non-liberal candidate.
“How dare our president have an understanding of what it is like to live in a different country, to have an understanding that the world is so different from American and be able to communicate with those people without being an idiot. But we do love our idiot presidents in this country, ”
wow, the whole string of mindless talking points. Yes, obAMATEUR is such the learned individual and has communicated until the world oozes with love for the U.S. unlike the other President. The love so readily on display, we have Egyptians burning him in effigy, hanging him from lamp posts, Russian journalists flipping him off during their broadcasts, etc. etc.
BTW, obAMATEUR only sounds intelligent as long as his teleprompter is functioning. Otherwise, he sounds like a blithering idiot. We will see how long he dodges Newt/Romney in the debates before he gives into one or two carefully moderated with plenty of prep time for the “genius” in the White House.
Yes you do love your idiot pResident.
Scummy = Arctic Faux
No, the Fox was not semi-literate. Sunny is Velma, the how-the-HELL-did-she-get-through-law-school contract lawyer for an aerospace company in Tulsa.

Keep typing TROLLS……
To make the average annual US income of $60,000, you need to make $34 an hour. If you are paid $5 a blog post, you would have to write 12,000 blog posts. At $25 a blog post, you would have to publish 2,400. For $50 per post, that’s 1200 posts. At $100 per blog post, you would have to generate 600 posts.
Hmmmmmm
OMG….
Obama “wields all the power of a substitute teacher at night school.”
(and NOT as qualified)
ROTFLMAO
WooHoo!!! Princess Lisa endorses Darth Mittens. Maybe those those two should shack up! LOL
I am going to go ahead and predict it. Neither Romney nor Newt is going to be the repub nominee. All the conventional wisdom out there says I am wrong. Thats why I am right.
At this time in 2008 all the convetional wisdom said Rudi had it locked up. Well he ended up with one whole delagate.
Iowa is coming up quick. It will be a shock. I will say Santorum will win with Perry coming in a very very close second. If you have to look at the repub candidates and tell everyone to vote for the lesser of evils those would have to be Santorum or Perry.
I would love to include my gal Michelle but it seems she has turned into Romney Mitts attack dog. Bummer 😦
Poor Ochimpy, worked himself so hard since getting back from marthas. Needs a 17 day recuperation in hawaii. Poor guy. Nobody did so little to need so many days.

Fore!!!!
All hail king putt and queen mooch!!!!
Newt will win … I am positive!!!
I was rooting for Herman Cain … but sadly the Democrats bogus attacks on him, have destroyed his campaign, and candidacy, just like they did Sarah Palin. What a shame!!! Such a good man, made for the job gets shuffled off the deck over lies about him and his character. The people who did this to him need to be smacked down!!!!
Jeremiah,
Use your favorite search engine. Type in “Gingrich third wave” read some of the stuff Newt has written.
If any conservative thinks that Newt is a friend of the Constitution they are sadly mistaken.
“The greatest leaders in fighting for an integrated America in the 20th century were in the Democratic Party. The fact is it was the liberal wing of the Democratic Party that ended segregation. The fact is that it was Franklin Delano Roosevelt who gave hope to a nation that was in despair and could have slid into dictatorship. And the fact is every Republican has much to learn from studying what the Democrats did right.” – Newt Gingrich
Too sensible. Good thing for Newt that the Tea Party prefers spoon-fed Koch brothers propaganda to reading.
bozo, any chance you would like to provide an example of this?
“Good thing for Newt that the Tea Party prefers spoon-fed Koch brothers propaganda to reading.”
You don’t have to give an example but it should at least be interesting.
Gee, freakzo, are you telling us we need to hold out for someone who is never wrong, was never wrong, and therefore will never be wrong?
Got a short list for us?
freakzo, will you please explain how your quote from Gingrich will, or even COULD, affect his stances on things like small central government, state and local authority, and incentivizing effort and productivity?
In other words, is it relevant in any way, or just another freakzoid ‘gotcha’ which you seem to think constitutes political commentary?
Yeah, Romney had nothing to do with it.
And who the hell rings his “mentoree” at 4am? Not very biblical hey Jeremiah? You do realise Cain has virtually admitted to the affair?
Yeah, Romney had nothing to do with it.
Same difference.
And who the hell rings his “mentoree” at 4am?
He who can’t sleep.
Not very biblical hey Jeremiah?
What’s not biblical about it?
You do realise Cain has virtually admitted to the affair?
Realize? No, I didn’t realize he “admitted” to it. When and where did he do so? He has denied the claims leveled against him from day one. So where’s your proof?
I wonder if all those so called “constitutionalist” want to help Newt achieve his new civilization. Flavor of the month indeed.
Instead of the whining, carping and sniping about any potential Republican candidate, I have an idea.
First, develop a clear preference for which kind of government we think would be the best direction for the country. Not based on personality or political affiliation, but just the real definition of the system we can choose.
Then look, not at vague, imaginary, ideal candidates for implementing that system, but just at our actual choices.
If, for example, your ideal political system is one of vast central government and extreme governmental controls, redistribution of wealth, class resentment and divisiveness, racial disharmony, and a collectivist approach to governing, then the Democrat candidate, Obama, is a clear choice.
If your ideal is small and restricted central government, with more power and authority vested in state and local government (the Constitutional model) and incentives for risk-taking, productivity and effort, while there may be some person out there somewhere who would embody every single desirable Conservative characteristic and have absolutely no negatives or questions, we don’t know who that is or how to find him/her within the next few weeks, so you have to look at what we have and if you are unhappy with this you will have a couple of years following this election to find and promote Mr/Mrs/Miss Perfection.
What I see is clueless, ideologically ignorant Pseudo-Lefties carrying on about conservative choices based on their own shallow perspectives, which are personality, identity and scandal, and conservatives dithering about how they are unhappy with anyone who is Less Than Ideal.
OK, no one cares what the clueless and ideologically ignorant Pseudo-Lefties are bleating. They don’t even know, themselves, so why pay any attention to them?
But the conservatives need to come to grips with the very real and looming deadline for making a choice from the choices we have , and we need to stop the quixotic search for the Perfect and learn to deal with what we have at hand.
Amazona, believe me I do agree with you. We do need to deal with what we have at hand. At least right now we have at hand two men who will never lead us back to a more constitutional form of government. Romney Mitt and Newt.
The cure is worse than the disease.
Again, at this time in 2008, the conventional wisdom was way off. It is the same again. Neither Darth Mittens or the Newtster will be the repub nominee.
Chew on that bone. WOOF!!!
GMB
I still believe O wont run and it will be hitlery and chester the molester bill back in the WH.
Amazona, do you have any other solution other than to just slow our countrys descent into progrossivism down? How far do plan to let the communists get before you have had enough? Is there any point where the communists can not cross with you?
Sure it took a hundred years to get here. How many more years do you plan to allow the communists to entrench themselves into every fabric of the American life? How much longer does the list of abuses and usurpations have to be before Amazona has had enough.
It is people like you Amazona, that had no stomach for the fight that allowed our country to get to where we are now. Yes I said it. Go ahead and elect so big government repub like newt or mittens, you will get your penny ante tax break and nothing else.
The communists are laughing at you and rightly so.
It is people like you Amazona, that had no stomach for the fight that allowed our country to get to where we are now.
Wrong – it’s people like you GMB that continue the decline. What in the hell have you done to bring about that “perfect” conservative?? It seems to me that you simply complain from behind the comfort of your keyboard. Why aren’t you running for office? You should be taking matters into your own hands, if in fact you this concerned. Why aren’t you leading the campaign efforts for that vaunted Sarah Palin? Or Rick Santorum?
While you continue your juvenile search for that perfect candidate, Amazona and I will deal with reality, and at least try to curb the decline – no thanks to you.
Cluster, you nailed GMB on his whiny carping about the Less Than Perfect while doing nothing but, well, whining and carping.
He would sit around and watch the nation plunge into irreversible decline, preening over his political purity, while the realists would at the very least try to slow it, stop it, and if not working with the ideal person to reverse it at least create an environment where it could be reversed.
He is so incensed over Romney, and so proud of his silly nickname for him, he has admitted that he would not vote rather than vote for Romney over Obama—and he accuses ME of letting us go to hell in a handbasket.
In many ways I find GMB to be nothing but the flip side of the Pseudo Libs—–content to stand on the sidelines as the race goes by and feeling as if he has contributed something by darting out to try to ram sticks through the spokes of those who are actually PARTICIPATING, excusing this with the whine that the participants aren’t participating exactly the way he thinks they should be.
I have never seen GMB produce a single productive idea, just complaints and stupid nicknames for those he disdains for lacking his own political purity. And while he is fretting, for example, about a President who does not declare he will end abortion, we will be the ones working to elect Senators and Representatives who will support legislation at the state and local levels, we will be working to elect conservative governors who will appoint constitutionalist judges, and we will be laying the fundamental groundwork for a real and significant change, while he is baying at the moon about something that is beyond the power of the president anyway.
But he will be very very smug about his assumed political and moral superiority, which is evidently more important than actual results.
Actually, GMB, you do NOT agree with me, as I am saying we have to deal with the election with the candidates we have.
Mitt—-no
Newt—-with enough conservative pressure I think he can apply his intellect, historical knowledge and legislative expertise to be a decent, if not great, president.
I think it ridiculous to claim “The cure is worse than the disease.” The disease is Obama using the presidency to advance radical Leftist ideology, and even a weak alternative who kind of maybe leans a little Left sometimes is certainly better than THAT.
I like everything I have heard Santorum say but his lack of much government experience does concern me. We have see the problems with on-the-job training in the White House.
oh matt neo
