Hillary Leads…. in the “Anti-” Vote

December 18th, 2007 at 12:19pm Matt Margolis

And that’s not a good thing for her

Forty percent of Americans say they would vote to keep Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton from winning the presidency, more than twice the total for their No. 2 “anti-” pick, former New York Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani.

In a new Fox 5-The Washington Times-Rasmussen Reports survey, 64 percent of Republicans, 42 percent of third-party or independent voters, and 17 percent of Democrats said the candidate they most want to keep from the White House is Mrs. Clinton.

“Hillary Clinton is better known than any [other] presidential candidate on either side. She has a lot of people who love her and a lot of people who hate her,” said Scott Rasmussen, who conducted the poll.

Clearly, this is more of concern for Hillary and for Democrats if she makes it to the General Election… which I still suspect she will. However, if electability — or at least the perception of electability — is important to primary voters, Hillary may have a tough battle ahead of her to secure her party’s nomination.

If 36% of Republicans are okay with Senator Clinton moving back into the White House, and President Bush job approval rating among Republicans is 33.2%, this means Senator Clinton is more popular with Republicans than President Bush is. This does not bode well for Republicans in 2008.

I hope the democrats realize that the only way for the republicans to get really enregized for the 2008 election is to nominate Clinton. For the most part republicans are not all that excited about their candidates, there are exceptions of course, but by and large there is only one unfiying candidte for republicans and it is Clinton.

I like Obama, and hope he is nominated. We need a post babyboomer candidate who doesn’t have to refight the cultural battle that has been going on since 1969 in this country. Finally, democrats, if Clinton is some how elected president just think of how bad the 90’s were with all the innuendo, rumor and fact of the Clinton years. It will be 10x worse if she resides in the WH again.

    Obama/Webb ‘08

If she does get the nomination though I will vote for her thighness.

    Neoclown,

Talk about twisting the numbers… Sheesh.

Where in the world does it say 36% of Republicans are okay with Senator Clinton moving back into the white house?

I mean only 40% of democRATS want her to win so do you not think you are being more than a little disingenuous?

All I know is, I haven’t donated to the GOP in over 2 years. Now that primary season is almost upon us and I see Hilary’s UGLY mug on the TV all the time now, I have recently wrote my first check to the GOP. See sleepygene’s note above…

Trust me, the best thing you could do for the GOP is to nominate that bitch and her philandering “husband”.

Should be recently written by the way. Sorry for my awful grammar.

Also, W’s approval numbers are at 38% not 33.

If any Democrat believes they can be elected to the WH, they had better rethink their position on ILLEGAL immigration. Because of that issue alone I will not vote for any Democrat.

    Sunny-

I think you are in the minority regarding illegals. I think most people would have been happy with the bill pushed by Bush earlier this year. Even Marky Mark here agreed with Bush, as did I. The reason it was scuttled was the base of the gop and talk radio raised hell.

    Check out this polling

    http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/25/us/25poll.html

Besides, I think all the tough on immigration talk by the gopers is going hurt them for decades to come. We need to close the borders, account for who is already here, background check’em, make sure they are learning english, working and not receiving welfare, pay a fine and be productive members of our society for 10 years then they can become citizens. That seems resaonable to me.

sorry sleepy - they have broken our laws. No other country would put up with this. It is costing Americans billions to take care the illegals - medical, education, housing etc. The only ones really benefiting from the influx of illegal are the employers hiring them who are likewise breaking our laws. We are a country of laws - and that is where this needs to end! You break the law by illegally crossing our border- you go back where you came from. I do not get to pick and choose which laws I want to obey and those I choose to break. Gosh - I sure would love to not have to pay taxes this year!

    Sunny-

I understand that argument and it is a valid one. We shold all obey the law. But practically speaking deporting the 10+ million illegals is not feasible in my opinion. Also, don’t think employers are the only ones benefiting from illegals. Sunny do you enjoy lettuce or strawberries or any number of frutis and vegetables? They are reasonablly priced because of cheap labor. Again I am not saying it is right but it is reality.

  • 9. GOP4ME  |  December 18th, 2007 at 4:51 pm

    Sleepy,

The costs imposed on our country are FAR exceeded by the economic benefit derived from the illegals being here. Of that there is no argument.

Fruits and vegetables may be reasonably priced but have you been to an emergency room or classroom lately in LA County? My hunch is your answer will most certainly be no.

Deporting all of them? Of course not. Addressing the issue head on and enforcing the laws? Why not? Cut off the stream and then address the ones already here.

I am a legal resident alien. How can you justify to me why I should have had to play by the rules (and pay by the rules) when others do not?

    I agree with Sunny 100%!

  • 10. sleepygene  |  December 18th, 2007 at 4:57 pm

    Gop 4U-

Wasn’t Bush trying address the issues by passing reform? I know it is not fair for you to play be the rules and others not so much. Guess what life isn’t fair and sometimes cirumstances trump fairness. But this has nothing to do with Clinton’s negatives. Gop 4U I am sure you want Clinton as the candidate, correct?

Illegal immigration is just that - illegal. They should be deported and banned. They are decaying our health care system and costing us billions. Their education is costing us a bundle too. I remember when hops and grapes both depended on migrants to pick them - guess what they invented machines to do the job and they are just fine now.. so don’t think that there is not a solution for the stoop labor we still use.

If they want to be American citizens they should go through the legal process or suffer for it.

I think people are going to be real surprised when the Silent Majority turn out and vote their Christian values.

I think the Arizona Sherriff should run for president - he’d beat McCain hands down -in AZ too!.
