Otherwise known as The American Left:
A 20-year-old woman who was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield was also maimed by her attacker, police said.
Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard tells Channel 4 Action News that the victim was robbed at knifepoint on Wednesday night outside of a Citizens Bank near Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street just before 9 p.m.
Richard said the robber took $60 from the woman, then became angry when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the victim’s car. The attacker then punched and kicked the victim, before using the knife to scratch the letter “B” into her face, Richard said.
“I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face,” he said.

I am not being dramatic… The story above is hardly unique. I am merely responding to the truth that is very much in plain sight. I am dead serious.
God help us if Obama wins.
UPDATE: There are doubts being raised in the blogosphere about the legitimacy of the woman’s claim. The questions are certainly fair, and we will see what the investigation finds. Of course, as the victim of a politically motivated assault back in 2004, I find the premise of the story plausible. Even if it turns out to be a hoax, it still doesn’t change the fact that the American Left has become more extreme, violent, and intolerant. Mark informed me the other day that tires were slashed at a Sarah Palin rally in Las Vegas this past week. And there have been stories of vandalized cars and homes. There is even a story of a house being shot at for having McCain signs.
UPDATE, by Mark Noonan: As for me, I believe the story - it was reported out here in Las Vegas that some of the people who attended the Palin rally and had McCain/Palin stickers on their cars suffered tire-slashing. The left’s MO has long been this sort of thuggish intimidation - they want people to be afraid to speak their minds and openly proclaim their views in the public square. This sort of situation tends to make people doubt their own views - feeling isolated and surrounded by people who loudly proclaim the other side, it is easy for a person to think, “perhaps I’m just out of step?”. Its why the left also wants to excise all mention of God from the public square - they want that square reserved entirely for the leftwing party line so they no longer have to deal with those troublesome people who dare to disagree.
I’d like to believe that Obama would put a stop to this sort of thing but the pupil of Ayers will only view this as first-rate “community organizing”. We have a real big fight on our hands, and we must win - but, also, keep in mind that if we do win and Obama and his minions are in shell-shocked defeat on November 5th, it won’t be the end of it. These leftists and acolytes of Obama have convinced themselves the he’s already won, and it will be impossible to unconvince them - if they’ll perpetrate violence pre-election when they think they’re winning, imagine what they may do post-election if they are convinced the election was stolen from them.

LONGWOOD, Fla. — The home of a Central Florida Republican headquarters manager was shot up and damaged over his support of Sen. John McCain, the man told police.
Rog Coverely said several pellets pierced his Longwood home. Coverely showed several spiderwebbed-holes in the front windows of his home.
The Republican manager said he is convinced he was targeted because of new McCain signs he added around his home.
“All I can tell you is this, I have a very good relationship with my neighbors,” Coverely said. “I mow my lawn. The only thing that has changed is I have two McCain signs in my front yard.”
Coverely said he has taken about 300 calls concerning stolen or vandalized McCain signs in the area.
“It says this campaign is getting vicious,” Coverely said.
Coverely said it appears Democrats are becoming more aggressive in the county.
“I wouldn’t say slipping, but I would say the Democrats have become far more aggressive in Seminole County because it is such a heavy Republican area,” Coverely said.

“The Tribune reported that Todd, who isn’t familiar with the area, drove to a friend’s house and together the pair located the Citizens Bank ATM at Liberty and Pearl where the attack happened and called police.
Todd declined to comment to the Tribune. Friends said she is in Pittsburgh volunteering for the McCain-Palin campaign.
Richard said the woman refused medical treatment after the assault, which happened outside the view of the bank’s surveillance cameras.
The robber is described as a dark-skinned black man, 6 feet 4 inches tall, 200 pounds with a medium build, short black hair and brown eyes. The man was wearing dark colored jeans, a black undershirt and black shoes.
The Obama-Biden campaign released a statement, commenting on the attack. The statement said “Our thoughts and prayers are with the young woman for her to make a speedy recovery, and we hope that the person who perpetrated this crime is swiftly apprehended and brought to justice.”

Law enforcement officials say the intense public interest and historic nature of the vote could lead to violent outbreaks if people are unhappy with the results, encounter problems casting their ballots or suspect voting irregularities.
Police departments say they cannot rule out disorder and are mobilising extra forces and putting SWAT teams on standby.
In Oakland, near San Francisco, police will have tactical squads, SWAT teams and officers trained in riot control on standby.
“We always try to prepare for the worst,” said Oakland police department spokesman Jeff Thomason.
“This election is going to mark in history a change in the presidency: you’re going to have a woman in the presidency or an African American as president. I think everybody around here is voting for Obama, so if he gets in the White House everybody’s going to be happy.
“But we’ll have our SWAT teams on standby and traffic teams here, so if something goes off we’ll organise and take care of the problem.”
There have also been internet rumours about plans for protests or civil disobedience by supporters of Democratic candidate Barack Obama if he is beaten by Republican rival John McCain on November 4.
He said Oakland was prepared to deal with unrest as Oakland Raiders fans rioted in 2003 following their Super Bowl loss.
Other cities that have experienced unrest include Detroit, Chicago and Philadelphia and are also planning to deploy extra officers on election day.
James Carville, a strategist for former President Bill Clinton and advisor to his wife Hillary’s 2008 presidential campaign, hinted Democrat supporters could be angry if Mr Obama lost, given his lead in the polls.
“If Obama goes in and he has a consistent five-point lead and loses the election, it would be very, very, very dramatic out there,” he told CNN.
James Tate, of Detroit’s police department, which dealt with violent celebrations after the Detroit Tigers won the baseball World Series in 1984, told congressional newspaper The Hill that problems could flare whichever candidate wins.
“Either party will make history and we want to prepare for celebrations that will be on a larger scale than for our sports teams,” he said. “The worst-case scenario could be a situation that requires law enforcement.”
In Chicago, where Mr Obama will hold a rally on November 4, the police department has been meeting to discuss security plans for the night. Law enforcement departments in Philadelphia and Cincinnati are also making preparations in case of problems.
Commentators point to the surge in voter registration and large turnout in the primaries as reasons why there could be problems on election day, questioning whether the system will be able to handle so many extra voters.
Election officials in Virginia are stepping up security at polling booths amid concerns over long waits and issues such as voter registration and identity verification.
Despite efforts to improve voting systems after the problems of 2000 and 2004, the Pew Research Centre has warned high turnout could again cause problems such as lengthy delays at the polls. Unexpectedly high number of voters in states with early voting such as Florida have already encountered long waits.
Hilary Shelton, director of the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People’s (NAACP) Washington bureau, said there could be a repeat of problems witnessed in some black inner cities in 2004, where voters waited for up to eight hours to cast their ballots.
In response to the expected high turnout among racial and ethnic minority voters, intense interest in the election and online rumours about unrest, the NAACP has written to election officials in every state asking them to try to prevent any problems that could lead to voters being “stymied” or “disenfranchised” such as too few voting machines or staff.
He was also concerned about the possibility of extra police presence causing intimidation.
“Our antennas go up in terms of what happens when law enforcement moves to provide additional security and support and what happens on election day and how that comes across.
“The issue we’re raising now is are they being sensitive to the issues and the possibilities of intimidation and disenfranchisement, which could very well come out of them being too heavy handed. (Sometimes) the wrong strategy by law enforcement can actually create a problem rather than prevent one and it is our hope that we don’t see those kinds of problems on election day and people are able to enjoy the security of our democracy.”
Right-wing websites and blogs have been fuelling speculation about election unrest with unconfirmed reports of an online petition that pledges “civil disobedience” if Mr McCain wins.
Meanwhile, in a blog posting entitled ‘A McCain “Win” Will Be Theft, Resistance Is Planned’, David Swanson, Washington director of Democrats.com and a board member of Progressive Democrats of America, writes: “If your television declares John McCain the president elect on the evening of November 4th, your television will be lying.
“You should immediately pick up your pre-packed bags and head straight to the White House in Washington, DC, which we will surround and shut down until this attempt at a third illegitimate presidency is reversed.
“We may be there for days or weeks or months. But we must be there. We must be there by the millions. We must show each other, and the nation, and the world that we have had enough, that we will not stand for one more stolen election, that we will not give in to fear, lies, theft, and intimidation.”
Mr Carville told The Hill that “a lot of Democrats would have a great deal of angst and anger,” if Mr Obama lost. He predicted that on November 4, “the voting system all around the country is going to be very stressed because there’s going to be enormous turnout.”>>>

It is terrible to say that Obama is bad because a supporter is. If you could name me a long - and I do mean long - list of Obama supporters who engaged in violent activities for Obamas cause, then maybe I will be convinced that Obama somehow supports violence. Did he tell that woman to “get up in their faces?” Did he? Undoubtedly, some McCain supporter somewhere did something terribly violent for the sake of McCains campaign, but I strongly doubt that it was, in some way, McCain’s fault.

We know its bad for conservatives when we see posts such as this. I don’t know whether to be disgusted or if I should just pity you people. You need to open a book that doesn’t have Rush, Savage, or Coulter on the cover. I used to stop by this site often to see what people on “the other side of the aisle” were saying. Now I remember why I stopped visiting. It’s just pathetic now, not to mention just plain crazy.

This smells very weird to me. Michelle Malkin has written on her blog that she believes the wounds were self inflicted, many commenters on her site agree, including a police officer. A few questions:
How much of a coincidence is it that this person was a McCain volunteer? There are millions of people driving around with McCain bumper stickers in America but the one gets her face slashed happens to be a committed volunteer and a member of republican groups at her university. Coincidence?
Secondly, the entire incident, both the mugging and the face carving occurred off camera despite the fact that there were several CCTV cameras around the bank. Again, is this just a convenient coincidence?
Thirdly, why didn’t she agree to have medical treatment last night after the attack occurred? In cases of knife violence where the skin is broken the victim is always strongly encouraged by the police to go to the hospital in order to at least have a tetanus shot and have the wound disinfected and dressed. Again, isn’t that a little strange?
Fourthly, and most significantly in my opinion, if this woman was violently attacked by just one person, how come the application of the carving on her face is so perfect? Any normal person would struggle wildly while something like this was happening to them, yet the attacker has managed to carve a perfect B in her cheek and seemingly did it without cutting too deep into her flesh. To do that the victim would have to be keeping very still (contrary to all human instinct) and the attacker would have to be using a great deal of care. Also, the B is carved backwards, as if it was done in a mirror. The only way an assilant would have done it like this would be if her face was upside down to his, ie perhaps he had her on the ground holding her down with her head between his legs - again very unlikely. Remember, this was a sole attacker, how was he restraining her while he did this?
I hate to doubt anyone’s word and the injuries the woman in the above photo received look real enough but here is my opinion 0f what happened. I believe she actually was mugged by someone last night and quite badly beaten, for all we know her attacker may well have been a 6′2″ male. After the attack I believe she became enraged and decided to make some political capital from the incident by carving the initial ‘B’ in her face and fabricating the story she told to the police. I believe that she refused to have medical treatment because she felt that the doctors would not find her injuries consistent with those one would receive during a struggle. I would also not be surprised if they discovered scars and cut marks on her arms where she has self-wounded herself on previous occasions. Self-harm of this kind is surprisingly common among young women of a depressive nature, I frequently see marks such as these on the arms of girls when riding on the subway train in New York.
I know that many will say I have no evidence for my opinion and it’s true that I don’t have anything concrete. But I think the above four circumstantial points, taken together, show the veracity of this incident as it was reported by the victim to be highly questionable.
It’s also worth noting that there have been many such hoaxes in the past, the most famous in recent times being the case of the Jewish woman in Paris who claimed she was brutally attacked and taunted by arab men on a crowded subway train. That incident was widely reported in the international news, yet turned out to be a complete fabrication - the victim was a fantasist.

More has come to light about the victim in this attack. She took an entire year off to work for McCain’s campaign, demonstrating that she is, to say the least, an extremely fervent supporter of him.

But not in say 1934 or 1935. Two of Hitlers first acts was to confiscate all the guns and to seize control of the press AND the entertainment industry in Germany. Then, he started the propaganda machine going.
So, you could draw a valid analogy that since the left is trying to outlaw guns and ammunition (clever that part) and already control most of the news media and entertainment industry that THOSE parallels are flat out directly provable. Then we examine what the left does with this power.
Yesterday, I was protester outside a rally where Obama spoke. I can say first hand what they are doing. The vile language and gestures were thick. Threats? Yah there were some. McCain signs all over town were destroyed.
Now did I personally feel threatened? No. Honestly I did not. But I was in a well lit public area. And it would take more than one person to take me down.

There’s a lot of things I’d do for McCain, but taking a hit like that to the eye and having anything scratched into my face would go beyond the call of duty. If you on the left really want to believe that the story is a hoax, then that is your business - the thuggery from the left is well documented and very widespread. After all, even your Obamessiah was mentored by a guy who did, after all, set off terrorist bombs.

Just thought I’d say a quick goodbye for awhile.
I think my blood pressure and general mental health need a break from the craziness on this site. Unfortunately, coming here sometimes affects my faith in the world, as I see so many people (like Mark, Jeremiah, FmrMarine, JS, etc..) who care only to destroy Liberals and will never seem to see how their mindset harms others. (I wonder how Mark’s supposedly Liberal best friend feels after a good night of being put down by Mark and told he is “wrong all the time and about everything.”
I wonder if he thinks “Wow, Mark is some best friend, huh? He will never acknowledge that my opinions have any merit and that the way I feel about life is inferior and my buddy Mark is always right about everything all the time. Man, I think that guy is swell. I just love to be insulted and told my values are no good. I just love to be treated like dirt.” How’s it feel to kick your best friend around like a dog, Mark? Does it feel powerful to you?)
Anyway, I digress.
I think that America in general is getting sick of this Liberal Vs. Conservative BS. I think that REAL Americans - good people out there with families and bills and intelligence and compassion and jobs where they are trying to make a difference in others’ lives - these people are sick of the polarization that people like Mark try to breed.
These people are going to let their hearts guide them to come together with people of differing beliefs to say -”Hey, we ALL need each other and even though you and I feel differently, let’s help each other to make a better future for our children.”
Unfortunately, people like Mark and Jeremiah, JS and FmrMarine won’t be there. They will be sitting alone in their rooms on their computers, still hating Liberals and wondering what went wrong - where oh where did all our supporters go? Oh, maybe they left us because we are insane and hateful. I bet that’s it!

He had little leadership experience. He was an accomplished orator. The title of his book was not the Audacity of Hope and his name was not Obama, though many would come to consider him quite audacious. However, his economic agenda was socialist and he let out a call to rebuild his nation. He too had interesting friends who made outlandish statements about America and those who honor the Torah. His people voted him in during times of economic and moral crisis, with the hope that the could “save” them.
His book was titled My Struggles and he was, in the end not what his people expected or are proud of. The books title by the way translates into that leaders language as Mein Kampf. Now you know why sometimes the well spoken author is worth worrying about.

The Central Scruitinizer asserts that the important thing to this story is that while it doesn’t appear to be true, it could have been true. That’s the important thing.
While Obama cannot be blamed for this particular attack (the Police have him in Virginia at the time), who else can be blamed for making the political climate so toxic that even the most preposterous stories are believable. To put it another way, if we believe that Obama is ushering in “Naziism 2.0″, it follows that Obama is at fault, and if he is at fault, he must be a Nazi.

Okay, perhaps the most obvious point involved in this story is the one that is least appreciated. And that is this: At no time was it ever implied that the alleged perpetrator had any affiliation with Obama’s campaign. Whatever else could be said about the incident (and apparently there’s plenty), I think we should all appreciate that missing element — all of us, on whatever side we’re on.
There are crazies out there. But it’s important to distinguish between organized crazies and crazies that act on their own. On that level alone the “Naziism 2.0″ title was irresponsible and totally out of line.

bongoman, for starters, think back to the UNC lacrosse team story. If anything, this is just the latest example of overreaction. Sometimes it happens on one side, sometimes the other. But even so there are (or should be) guidelines involved in evaluating even the initial data. In this case, given nothing more than the initial presenting evidence, the implication that Obama’s organization was somehow involved in some sort of Fasciism 2.0 conspiracy is so far-fetched, and so irresponsible that on that basis alone an apology is called for.
Period.
The fact that later evidence confirms the absurdity even more is almost beside the point.

Even if the story had been true, it was irresponsible for Matt and Mark to paint Obama as Hitler and Democrats as Nazis. The fact that it was a hoax makes it twice as bad. Matt and Mark owes their readers and the Obama campaign an apology. The question now is: Will they man up to their mistake?
That said, it should be remembered that it’s doubtful that McCain and the Republican party had anything to do with this sorry mess. I have to say that Michelle Malkin and The Weekly Standard gained some respect from me and others for the way they handled this situation. Let’s hope Matt and Mark can learn from their example.

The news story came across from credible sources and it is an action entirely in line with normal leftwing tactics - and, indeed, tactics we have seen used in this very election. That this poor woman is suffering from a mental defect doesn’t get your side off the hook for your persistent thuggishness against political opponents. I would have entirely discounted this if I didn’t have scores of examples at my finger tips of leftwingers using violence and intimidation just over the past 8 years or so - and volumes of examples over the past 50 years.

If you’re not going to apologise, you could at least update the story to indicate that the McCain supporter is a liar and is facing charges.
Margolis could apologise for his ‘dystopian vision’ line given that the incident says way more about McCain supporters than it does about Obama supporters now that it has been shown to be a hoax.
You could apologise for being so quick to paint a picture of what this says about Obama supporters even though the McCain supporter was the one engaging in criminal conduct.
You could apologise for being a smug, self-righteous asshole while you’re at it.

I have hundreds of examples at my finger tips of rightwingers using violence and intimidation over the past 8 years, but I don’t label McCain or Bush as Hitler and the Republicans as Nazis because of them. Both sides have people that do things they shouldn’t.
As to what you should to apologize for? How about jumping to conclusions and slimming millions of your fellow Americans over a bogus story. It was on your BLOG. YOU ADDED TO THE STORY. It’s called taking responsibility. Something that Republicans believed in at one time. There have been times in my life when I’ve screwed up. And while it has never been easy, I’m proud to say, I have always owned up to my mistakes. Maybe someday you will get to that point.

Mark: What have I to apologize for? The news story came across from credible sources and it is an action entirely in line with normal leftwing tactics - and, indeed, tactics we have seen used in this very election.
Apart from the fact that it turned out not be true. Apart from the fact that even if it turned out to be true, it would not have been representative an exclusively “leftwing tactic”, but a tactic engaged in by crazy individuals with perceived affinities on both sides.
Apart from those things… the thing I think needs an apology most is the insinuation of guilt by association. By tying Obama to Hitler the implication is that the Obama campaign conspires, condones and/or directs such attacks. That is what is most loathsome.
Additionally, not once was there any inclination by the proprietors of this site to do the Christian thing — to speak out against the violence, any violence, for whatever reason. Instead, what you and Matt did was propagate more fear and hostility. God help us indeed.

To lie one has to knowingly transmit a falsehood - something along the lines of claiming that Bush tricked us into going into Iraq; that is a lie and if you say it once you know it is a lie, then you have lied and may be called a liar. But if you say Bush tricked us into Iraq and by some bizarre set of circumstances you still don’t have the facts, then you have just transmitted an error and don’t need to apologize to anyone. You transmitted the story within an hour of it appearing on Drudge (is that what you call a credible source?), you presented it as FACT when it was still under investigation. The incident had happened only the night before and it was obvious to anyone with an ounce of healthy scepticism that it looked extremely fishy (hence Malkin and many other right wing blogger questioned it).
However you gleefully pounced on it, massively extrapolating it to proclaim that all Obama supporters have fascist tendencies, that more of this was what we have to look forward to if he is elected, etc., etc.

I wrote a post admitting I made a mistake. I didn’t bring up other information supporting my case (and there was other information out there). I admitted my mistake and went on. It’s how I was raised. Apparently it’s not how you were raised.
