And this is a Data for Progress poll – they are a pretty good polling outfit but the name gives it away: they are a Leftwing outfit. They always put out the most rosy picture for the Left. In this poll one in five Democrats are more worried about Biden’s senility. One in five! If half of that number just stays home in November it’ll be a political meltdown.
Team Pudding Brain got him to shout semi-coherently in North Carolina for a few minutes the day after the debate and they are presenting this as proof that Biden can, at times, be lucid. They’re seriously running with this: he’s not a complete wreck! The other half of this effort is to sell people on the idea that they aren’t voting for a man but for an Administration – it is “Dr” Jill and Kamala and the Whole Team who have done such wonderful things…we don’t really need Joe to be there all the time.
I have my doubts that this is going to work – voters don’t vote for a team. And the actual crucial consideration here is that in an emergency there is one person vested with Executive authority in the United States and if he’s gaga at the moment, no legitimate, legal order can be issued…but some order would emerge from a shadowy group which does not bear the legal power to issue an order. Honestly, Biden should resign.
But, he ain’t going anywhere. It is my view that the Democrat Powers That Be did press for him to step aside after the debate – it was catastrophically bad, after all. But my guess is that Team Pudding Brain flatly rejected it. And without their active cooperation, there’s no really effective means to force Biden out. Sure, Kamala could try to 25th him but the Cabinet is Joe’s, not hers…very doubtful she can get a majority of them to sign on. And even if she did, Pudding Brain’s people retain under the Constitution the means to fight back against such a 25th action. Unless he dies, he’s their guy. Of course, the thing about Biden’s condition is that it will only get worse – each day that passes brings us closer to the inevitable complete mental breakdown, shortly thereafter followed by death. Think of it like this: if today there is a 5% chance Biden finally loses it, then tomorrow there is a 5.1% chance…and so on. Depending on how far along he already is, we might be pretty close to the absolute certainty that he’s gone. Sure, people like this can have temporary bounce backs: my mother in law came back to us for a couple weeks shortly before she died. We treasure that time and the memories we got out of it before she finally went. But here we’re talking about the guy with his hand on the button. Bit of a different set of concerns.
One thing we’ve seen on the Left since Thursday is the “hey, Joe is a good man but its time for him to go”. This is infuriating a lot of people because Joe is not a good man. Since he entered public life during the Nixon Administration (!) he’s been a liar, a grifter and a bully. He’s never once done a thing which was for the United States or the people – it has all been a continual calculation about how it could advance Biden and his vile family in power and wealth. Do remember that “Scranton Joe” didn’t try to become a Senator from Pennsylvania – a purple State where holding State-wide office requires widespread appeal and a vigorous fight each time around. Nope: Joe shook the dust of Scranton from his feet and went to Delaware – because in Delaware you only need about 225k votes in a Democrat-heavy State while in Pennsylvania you need 2.7 million votes in a purple State now trending GOP in voter registration. It was pure cynicism – it is easier to obtain and retain office in Delaware than just about anywhere else. And then he used this seat just to advance his power and wealth.
The Democrats are gonna try. Biden in his lucid moments will lie. The MSM will continue to be in the bag. But right now, at this moment, if the election were held today, Trump would win – and both popular and electoral votes. The Democrats are the desperate, thrashing people right now. Anything can happen! Keeping in mind that “anything” includes the geezer keeling over (something I rate about 50/50). But I’ve never been more confident about the result…a thoroughly bad man in his dotage is the Democrat flag bearer for 2024 against an increasingly united and enthusiastic GOP. Let the games begin!
UPDATE: Rumors abound this Saturday evening that Biden and team will confab at Camp David tomorrow about the future of the campaign.
First take: he won’t quit. He has too much pride and First Lady Macbeth wouldn’t let him anyway.
Second take: It has been repeated in lots of news outfits.
Third take: At least part of Team Pudding Brain is denying it.
Fourth take: there is now a crescendo of MSM editorials calling on Biden to quit.
So, what’s happening? I’m still in the “I’ll believe it when I see it” camp…but there is clearly an internal war among Democrats right now. There was a DNC call earlier today and we’re getting different reads on it: some Democrats saying it was excruciating and others saying it was all rah-rah for Biden. They’re being pulled every which way. This, by the way, is proof positive that Biden isn’t in charge – if he was, the rumors never would have emerged and if they did they’d be immediately squashed and those responsible for floating the rumors sent into political exile. Can you imagine what Obama or Clinton would have done to any staffers who floated something like this? Democrats have not at this moment decided what to do but there is clearly pressure being exerted on Team Pudding Brain to bow out.
My bet is that its the Money which wants him out – the chances that Biden wins are low and falling. But even if he wins, there’s very little chance he lives deep into a second term. Money buys influence, not a nice thank you letter. The people who provide the cash want someone they can call for favors…and Biden isn’t that guy any longer or, at best, he won’t be very soon regardless of how November comes out. But for the Electeds it is a whole different ball of wax…jump ship on Biden too soon and he takes revenge. Wait too long and the New Guy snubs you. And who is the New Guy? Harris? She’s despised. But she’s also black and female. Newsom? He’s white and male. They likely haven’t the foggiest notion of who it would be if Biden goes. This means that various factions in the Democrat party will be saying this, that and the other thing, often flat contradictory.
So, in other words, this will be a lot of fun.
The next couple of weeks are going to be interesting. With Biden’s near total loss of cognitive ability on display for the whole world to see on Thursday night, this would be a perfect time for one or more global adversaries to test our resolve. And the longer the Biden team resists having him voluntarily step down, the harder it’s going to be affect a change. This year’s Democrat Convention could be one for the history books, in more ways than one.
I am far more concerned about the left bringing in Michelle Obama at the last minute than I am about living with Biden as president. “At the last minute” would dramatically reduce the amount of time she would have to campaign, and as we learned in 2020 Democrats don’t even have to campaign. I don’t do social media as such but I am on Nextdoor.com because it’s a little neighborhood chat room where people post about finding lost dogs, asking where they can find fresh farm eggs or things like that. And in the last 3-4 days there have been many political posts, which is very unusual for that website and usually not tolerated. And they are all rabidly Liberal. They tend to use words from the script, most of them referring to their topic as being “scary, whether it’s about either of the two most recent Supreme Court decisions or Donald Trump destroying democracy.
Naturally, me being me, I read the tea leaves as saying that the left is so panicky that they have their minions out there beating the bushes and stirring people up and generating these posts. I bet that the exact same posts about Trump, Biden, and Michelle have been posted on Nextdoor.com sites all over the country. They theoretically have to be posted by people who have signed up to join as residents of a specific neighborhood or community. And theoretically this is followed up with the confirming email but we know here how easy it is to fake credentials like ISP addresses.
To me the move now so far ahead of the conventions is telegraphing a sense of panic and the need to start stirring things up and generating as much emotional. chaos as possible. There is suddenly a big push against Loren Bobert, in the most vile and salacious terminology. She stirred up a lot of people on the Western Slope of Colorado, which she represented, and there was some organized resistance to her resulting in several Republicans running in the primary. The sense most of us got in the rest of the state and probably in her own district as well was that these were left-leaning “Republicans” And she did make some really stupid mistakes in her personal life, making it easier for people to attack her on a personal basis. Her voting record was great. Her political positions are great. But she’s not a politician. She ran a little restaurant in a little town along Interstate 70 between Denver and Utah and she got in over her head, I think, when she went to DC, and did some silly stuff, and didn’t realize that she had sacrificed any hope of personal privacy.
Anyway, she kind of outsmarted the Rino Resistance. She decided to run in Ken Buck’s old district now that he has turned tail and run after finding out that turning on Trump and stabbing him in the back does not play well in the conservative parts of Colorado. This has let the Democrats in the Denver Boulder area rally really hateful attacks on her on a personal level, which just started this last week. I’m often annoyed by her, but I think she’s been politically immature and is getting beat up for it and is basically a decent person and will come out of it bruised and battered and smarter and a good representative of the party for a constituency that wants a solid conservative representative.
So now suddenly there’s all this really nasty attacking of Lauren Bobert surfacing on this non-political website, and at the same time several people parroting nearly identical narratives about how “scary” certain developments are. I think the heat has been turned up, by the rise in Trump’s popularity in the polls, by the Supreme Court decisions, by the refusal of people to freak out about his felony convictions and then the debate just threw gasoline on the fire. And suddenly in the last 2 days there’s been a flurry of support for Michelle Obama as the savior of the party and the savior of the country and exactly what we need to preserve democracy blah blah blah. And there’s been an effort to promote Newsom because after all he does run this huge wonderful state.
Don Winslow wrote a book I just read about an arson investigator and it went into excruciating detail about what arson investigators have to know and how they investigate fires. And one of the things is the necessity to track a fire back to its point of origin to understand how, when, and why it started. If we try to apply the same standards, looking at the sudden flurry of shrill hyper-emotional hyperbole from the Left, I think we can find our point of origin, probably in the courtroom when the jury produced its verdict against Trump AND NOBODY CARED. The accelerants, to continue the analogy, have been the rising polls favoring Trump, and the Supreme Court decisions and the debate would be the barrels of explosives recently reached by the flames.
I hope it’s true that the Democrats can’t get rid of Biden if he doesn’t voluntarily step down unless they invoke the 25th Amendment, and that decision is rife with so many potential landmines that it’s dangerous in and of itself. Their recklessness really has created a lot of corners and they have managed to back themselves into every one of them. Can’t keep Kammy, can’t get rid of her. Can’t keep Joe, can’t get rid of him. Lawfare is backfiring on them, highlighting the rapid lurch to the Left and Stalinism, and the “worse than Hitler meme” is a little less effective when your own party is doing its best to recreate Hitler’s party and revive the Permanent Solution. Pandering to trans athletes is getting them crossways with Title Nine feminists as well as athletes, parents, and normal people who can see the absurdity of it all. The best they have, as far as name recognition, is Newsom, but he’s white, and male, and the campaign slogan of Let’s Make America more Like California probably wouldn’t be the most effective. Michelle is the only black woman they have who isn’t firmly established in the public eye as an insane raving racist lunatic. They’ve only got one normal moderate successful governor in the wings and he is also male and also white and has a Jewish name—–and most people have never heard of him.
See the Update – man, this is a ball to watch! On social media various Democrat factions are getting at each other’s throats over what to do about Biden.
Now THIS is something I had not heard about.
Aside from the fact that Glenn needs a homonym dictionary (the correct word is “unfazed”) that’s interesting. Not surprising, but interesting. Biden has enough money to just settle down and make payments on his houses, and every refi costs money in fees so it’s hard to imagine what would justify going through this 35 times.
Yep; if so, definitely something crooked going on – and absolutely no surprise
It’s a version of the observation that you can tell that some people are lying if their lips are moving. In this case, it’s that you can tell if it’s corrupt if the Bidens are doing it.
I saw a comment on another site last night about the Biden camp’s excuse that he just had a cold. “yeah, it was that rare cold virus that causes you to lie.”
Shouldn’t the American people be furious at the media and democrats for lying once again? They act as if they had no idea Joe Biden was this bad … just a few weeks ago, Joe Scarborough was saying that this was the best version of Joe Biden he has ever seen. KJP has been at the podium several times over the last few weeks saying that she and her staff have trouble keeping up with the Biden, with several other Democrats saying he is “sharp as a tack” behind closed doors. This is all reminiscent of them telling us the Covid vaccine was safe and effective. THEY LIE, and are never held to account. I am exhausted by this. I feel like the last 4 years has been one huge Orwellian psyop perpetrated on the American people by a cabal of globalists in their never ending quest to “fundamentally transform” America. Never forget what the Kenyan said.
I will add that these same people are accusing Trump of lying throughout the debate, but I have yet to hear what those lies were.
It’s as if they thought they would never get caught in those lies. For Scarborough, well, his already tenuous relationship with reality has been eroding pretty quickly, so there is no way of knowing what he really believes and what he knows is caca but just throws it out there as raw red meat for the slavering morons who eat that crap up. I’m guessing the others knew it was all lies but really thought they could cover it up. Somehow.
We need a strong coherent voice on the Right who can and will put this all together in a coherent narrative that is fun and interesting to hear, not a ponderous lecture, and figure out how to get it out there, over and over again. The other day I saw an old SNL skit about the way the United States uses different measures than the rest of the world. That doesn’t sound like riveting entertainment, and the skit was a little rough in places, but it was funny and it made several points. If I were in charge, I would immediately cut a deal with Glenn Beck to use his studio in Dallas, hire a couple of really good writers and some talented people and put together skits like this and buy a LOT of time on one or two of the biggest TV shopping stations and start running them over and over again. So what if they are on on weird times? Word would get out. It would be better to run them on YouTube but I’m not sure YouTube would do it. Conservatives would love them and talk about them and recommend them, independents would be interested because they are always looking for something to move them from one lane to another, and the Left would watch and talk about them in shrill strident outrage, which would be great advertising. They would be linked on every online news outlet, either to praise or complain. Ridicule is one of the most devastating weapons out there and we are pathetically inept at using it.
The Left can’t because it is so humor-impaired it doesn’t recognize humor or enjoy it and its efforts tend to be so heavy-handed and clumsy they are not very funny. Again, look at SNL—in its early years the funny people tended to lean left socially but were not ideologues, so they could be deft and clever. Later they tried too hard and it was awful.
LOL
Democrats have no one else to blame for their political turmoil than themselves. This is what happens when you have party elites pick the candidates rather than the voters. Joe Biden was not the first choice for Democrat primary voters, but he became that guy when James Clyburn stepped in and told Democrats how to vote. And then Biden and the elites boxed themselves into another corner by pandering to identity politics and promising to name a “black woman” as the VP, and they even screwed that up. Val Demmings and Susan Rice would have been much better VP picks, but I guess they weren’t “pretty enough”. The entire Democrat party has become one huge “Astro turfed” party with manufactured candidates, manufactured grievances, and a manufactured agenda. None of it is real, organic, or truthful. And we are watching the whole thing slowly implode before our eyes. Let’s get out of the way and not screw this up.
If you don’t mind your text being accompanied by photos of a nearly nude woman you might like to check out these cogent observations on phrases used and mostly misused in today’s political discourse.
(Cluster, if you prefer I can copy and paste just the text for you.)
I suddenly have this strong desire to go pick flowers lol ….
Good article and something conservatives really need to learn …. Words and language matters. Don’t let the Left get away with redefining terms.
LOL
An old radio talk show host in Denver, whom I credit for helping me get out of the Dark Side and into the light, used (and maybe coined) the phrase “semantic infiltration” for the hatchet job the Left does on our language. They invent a new definition for a term and then flood the country with it till everyone—even conservatives—unthinkingly use it. The best example is “abortion rights”. Even a conservative article about abortion will say the argument is about abortion rights. Look at how hard they worked to get the word “insurrection” a part of the day to day discourse, till it even started to appear in articles written by people who should know better.
Life without memes would be a lot less interesting.
Got this from a mutual friend of Amazona’s and mine.
Biden brought this up during the debate, and although Trump responded he didn’t do so very forcefully. I would have said something like “you despicable creep, you dishonor all the men and women who have fought and died for this country when you repeat that repugnant lie that was repudiated by everyone in the room.”
Your link is broken
That’s weird – it works from my screen. It’s a photo of Trump embracing a wounded veteran in a wheel chair with the caption: “Another photo of Trump hating the suckers and losers who fought for us.”
I did see that somewhere else. Clicking on the link, my computer give me a white page that says “GONE” and an error code.
I have no doubt that there have been people who Trump has called suckers and losers, ie., just about anyone who still supports the Democrat Party. I just can’t imagine him describing those who died for this country that way, and especially not to a general.
No, that story never passed the smell test even before everyone present (but the general) swore he never said it. It would have been a stupid thing to say because it was just so—-stupid. Getting killed for your country in a world war means you are a sucker or a loser? Occam’s Razor always comes in with things like this, and the most obvious answer, regarding a man whose entire history (political history at least) has been one of respect and support for our military, is that the story was a lie.
But it was like a magnet to a certain mentality, the same kind of mentality that focuses on “convicted felon” with no concern at all about what the *trial says about our country, the same kind of mentality still obsessed with the “fine people” lie. Things like this are litmus tests to identify a pathology and low intellect.
I just saw a cartoon that said something about how now Democrats might be thinking RFK looks pretty good, and it struck me that moving from Biden to Kennedy might actually be a good move for the Dems.
He has the magical Kennedy name and history of the whole family being Democrats, and I don’t think RFK’s core POLITICAL values differ much from the Dems. He is still a Leftist. His vaxx positions are not that radical and could be finessed. While not ideal, it would solve some of their technical problems, like laws governing when a candidate can be replaced, because Kennedy already has a campaign going, and perhaps if he just agreed to put a D after his name and tone down some of his rhetoric they could do a lateral move and just have the Biden ticket disappear. While far from ideal, it would solve the Kamala problem and the Newsom-has-destroyed-California problem and provide plausible deniability for dumping Harris and not having a black person, or woman, on the ticket—“Hey, we had to work with the existing campaign laws about substituting candidates and rather than deal with the inevitable lawsuits and problems of Biden withdrawing and replacing him we chose to shift our campaign to support a man who has been a reliable Democrat in a family of reliable Democrats”. It’s weird, but it might actually be easier to change parties than change candidates.
In May Mr. Kennedy then issued a statement saying abortion should be unrestricted until “the baby is viable outside the womb. Therefore I would allow appropriate restrictions on abortion in the final months of pregnancy.” His campaign spokeswoman, Stefanie Spear, said Mr. Kennedy believed states should be able to enact limits after the point of viability. Not incompatible with the Dems if downplaying that unacceptable idea of states having any independent authority.
Mr. Kennedy has said he would “seal” the southern border, as well as expand opportunities for legal immigration — what his campaign calls “high walls, wide gates.” Can be finessed to be compatible with what Joe has been claiming about tightening the border and he’s already modified his stance a little bit.
Mr. Kennedy, a longtime environmental lawyer who helped found a global clean water organization, has pledged to be “the greatest environmental president in American history.”
He calls for the elimination of subsidies for fossil fuels, tougher enforcement of laws including the Clean Water Act and the Clean Air Act and an array of regulations on plastics and chemicals. He also urges more protection of wildlife, lands and waters. His stance on AGW is less definitive: He believes that greenhouse gases are the cause of global warming and He has endorsed what he calls a “free market” solution that would involve eliminating subsidies for polluters, but also tighten government regulations but he’s also said that “This crisis is being used as a pretext for clamping down totalitarian controls the same way that the Covid crisis was,” which is not going to endear him to the totalitarians trying to do this.
His positions on taxes and the economy should be fine with the Dems. Mr. Kennedy claims he would be “the strongest pro-labor president since the 1960s,” often rails against corporations and laments the number of Americans who report having to work multiple jobs.
He has proposed a laundry list of ideas to achieve “higher pay and lower bills,” from raising the minimum wage to $15 to expanding access to free child care and making student debt dischargeable in bankruptcy. (These are similar to proposals that Mr. Biden has tried to enact as president, with mixed results.)
According to the campaign’s website, Mr. Kennedy proposes paying for his agenda through sharp cuts to military spending and raising taxes on corporations, as well as by ending “the corporate giveaways, the boondoggles, the bailouts of the too-big-to-fail.”
His campaign platform proposes a “revenue-neutral plan” paid for not by raising rates on individuals but by closing loopholes and eliminating deductions that benefit the wealthy. He also proposes increasing child tax credits. He’s got all the buzzwords like “corporate giveaways, the boondoggles, the bailouts of the too-big-to-fail” plus higher minimum wage and other Dem favorites.
He’s toned down his vaxx rhetoric, though he has never been against all vaccines, and has put together a reasonable-sounding approach: Mr. Kennedy has said that in his first week in office, he would “declare a major shift in priorities” at the National Institutes of Health, refocusing its research budget toward chronic disease prevention, including examining toxic chemicals, microplastics, “electromagnetic pollution,” processed foods and pharmaceutical products.
He says he would ban advertising by pharmaceutical companies on television and remove restrictions that protect vaccine makers from lawsuits.
Basically, aside from his rather isolationist foreign policy views and support for Israel he would be fairly acceptable to Dems with a little tweaking, and might be a landing spot for a party desperate to get out of a collapsing campaign. I have a feeling that there is some concern about Newsom in the higher levels of the party—California is just too big and too easy a target and would be an indefensible argument against his competence and political acumen. For all the buzz about Michelle, none of it is coming from the party, at least that I have seen, and it seems to be a media effort more than anything, and merely replacing one black woman with another is kind of a version of “all blacks look alike” and are therefor interchangeable.
But the main and maybe only argument I could make about a lateral shift to supporting Kennedy in exchange for him returning to the party is that it would solve the Harris problem as well as the getting-on-the-ballot issues related to withdrawing from a campaign.
Because of a quirk in Ohio law which had required all candidates to be legally certified by Aug. 7—more than a week ahead of Biden’s scheduled nomination at the convention that opens in Chicago on Aug. 19—Democrats are set to formally nominate Biden in a virtual roll call weeks before the convention.
So it seems to me that “weeks before the convention”—that is, weeks before August 19—-Biden will be formally nominated in a “virtual roll call”. That’s in about four weeks. Four weeks to ditch Biden, agree on a replacement, and get the proper paperwork and filings done and so on before this “virtual roll call”.
Biden may choose to reject the virtual nomination, which was meant to be a formality, setting up delegates to select a new nominee at the Democratic Party’s in-person convention, where delegates will still participate in a traditional roll call. But it seems to me that if Biden were to reject the virtual roll call he would also be rejecting the only opportunity to be on the Ohio ballot, because the purpose of the virtual roll call is to do an end run around the Ohio law to get him “formally nominated” before August 7.
Then what? Once the nomination is decided at the convention, though, only the nominee can choose to bail. The party can’t do it. The party may have second thoughts about their nominee, but if Biden refuses to drop out, there’s little to be done other than perhaps applying extraordinary pressures like cutting off the DNC’s bankroll and other resources to urge him to change his mind. Once the gavel falls, Democrats are stuck with Biden if he still has a pulse. And if he did resign after being formally nominated, it gets complicated and time consuming. After all, this would all be taking place at or after the end of August, leaving only about 60 days till the election.
Then “the National Chairperson of the Democratic National Committee shall confer with the Democratic leadership of the United States Congress and the Democratic Governors Association and shall report to the Democratic National Committee, which is authorized to fill the vacancy or vacancies.”
In other words, the clock is ferociously ticking, with about 30 days to find and approve of a replacement if Joe drops out now, and then get that ticket approved by the virtual roll call (to get the ticket on the ballot in Ohio) and then formalized in the convention, OR go through the convention and nominate Joe and then if he withdraws have 60 days or less to go through that process outlined above, and that would still not get the new ticket on the ballots but just let a vote for Biden apply to the new candidate, or at least that is how I have heard it explained.
It seems so much easier to go to Kennedy and say “Change your affiliation to D and tweak a couple of your positions and we’ll slot you right into Joe’s position and throw our entire machine behind you and tell our voters all to vote for you” in time to get him on the virtual roll call, and then take a deep breath and hope you dodged a bullet. It would be a move easier to explain/rationalize/justify than dumping Harris, or running Harris, along with finding someone else to be on the ticket.
Just my tinfoil hat theory, but one evidently considered by at least a couple of other people. And no crazier than anything else on the Dem side in this cockamamie election cycle.
The Rumor Mill is in full swing – on the extremes are O’Reilly saying he’s got it confirmed that Joe will drop out, other end NY Times report saying Hunter is pushing for dad to stay in. It is all very much in flux – and it won’t really be Joe making the call; it is Hunter and Jill that have to be convinced. Other rumors have them both naming high prices.
But for Hunter the problem is a bit different – he’s convicted but only of the relatively lesser charges he’s vulnerable to. Dear old dad can pardon him for his conviction and, technically, from all federal crimes (like Ford did with Nixon) but it would be odd…and it might not stand up in Court (Nixon’s pardon was never really tested – that is, can you pardon someone for something they haven’t even been charged with yet?). Presidential pardon power is almost unlimited…but Hunter faces huge numbers of very serious penalties if the AG doesn’t work for his dad…or isn’t committed to protecting him. And if Joe does issue a blanket pardon, then even that doesn’t resolve all issues…because he committed crimes that are both federal and State. The bottom line is that Biden’s family is extremely vulnerable unless there’s a Democrat or a RINO in office…if Trump gets in, they probably figure they’re cooked.
OTOH, even keeping Joe on the ticket might not do the trick. So, Hunter might just be looking for the best assurances he can get (plus cash).
You make a good point–pardon or no pardon, without Daddy in the White House Hunter is facing a long and miserable couple of years with nearly guaranteed prison time, and you’re right about the pardons. Not to mention the really big—well, not elephant, but donkey—in the room, which is what Joe himself will face, and his brother, and maybe even Jill, without him there to control the law enforcement agencies and DOJ. Their futures hang on Joe being president, which I had not been considering. And it’s not as if Garland is capable of shame for being labeled as a dishonest sneak.
Sure, a deal could be cut wherein a replacement would get the nod in exchange for promising the protection. After all, Joe is an old hand at quid pro quo. But that would be iffy and it would actually constitute a bribe, which is such a no-no for a president.
This train of thought really does lead away from replacing him, doesn’t it?
Every country in the world respects and admires Joe Biden. No joke.

This parody site has been doing this videos for some months now. Always spot on and always worth a laugh or two.
🙂
Really? For MONTHS now? Surely you are not implying/saying that the great and highly respected President Joe Biden has been inspiring such commentaries for a long time! I wonder if this influenced Giorgia Meloni’s decision to keep a close eye on Joe so he wouldn’t wander too far off.
I’m clearly going to have to keep an eye on this site.
Not sure how many of the primary contributors of this blogs are Catholics, but I’d greatly value your opinion on this article. I suspect it could be a major turning point affecting the whole world – or not.
Archbishop Viganò: I accuse Bergoglio of heresy and schism
https://www.lifesitenews.com/opinion/archbishop-vigano-i-accuse-bergoglio-of-heresy-and-schism/?utm_source=daily-usa-2024-06-29&utm_medium=email
I admit that I am far from being a scholar of the Church. I left the Church for many years, partly due to youthful arrogance but to a great extent because it had become so less Catholic to one who had grown up in the traditional faith. When I would attend a Mass over the years I never really felt that I was attending a Catholic Mass. But a few years ago I decided to accept the Church as I had to find it, and although I still find some of it jarring I looked for parishes where I felt more at home. And in that search I started driving an hour and a half on many Sundays to attend a Tridentine Mass in Denver. I bought a Missal and relearned the pageantry of the old Mass. And the homily, in the first of these I attended, amazed me. I missed part of it due to a screaming child (and a mother who would not use the cry room) but I did hear enough to hear the priest tell us we should read the writings of the current Pope, we should keep up with what he is saying, and that in doing so we should not worry that we are committing heresy because it is important to know what is happening in the Church. I nearly fell out of my pew. A Catholic priest had basically accused the Pope of being a heretic!
I was not offended, just relieved to hear that people within the Church felt the same way I did. I certainly did not base my very superficial opinion, more of an impression than an actual opinion, on the kind of learned study shown in your linked article. But I knew that a great deal, most if not nearly all, of my antipathy to the Church was due to the direction in which it had gone. I have always said it all started with the abrupt lurch to the Left of Vatican Two. When I became politically aware and involved, I would read comments and articles by Jesuits and wonder how the former warriors of the Faith had become such spineless advocates of the Left. I had a friend who had dated a young man in college who had returned to college after leaving the seminary not because there were some homosexuals in the seminary but because it was dominated by them, and also that they were predatory on the straight men, and then I saw the Church dragged into the sewer by the increasing examples of these men becoming priests and then preying on the young, barely post-pubescent boys in their trust. (Naturally, the anti-Church Agenda Media always referred to this as “pedophilia” to imply that the Church was full of, and defending, dirty old men molesting sweet young girls, but it was always homosexual priests using their role and authority to take advantage of their access to boys reaching adolescence and their trust in their priests.)
I saw priests and bishops scold priests who withheld the sacraments from those who promoted, advocated and enabled abortions, and felt absolute disgust at seeing the Pope not only grant the special privilege of private audiences with such as Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden, whose abortion stances and votes have led to the killing of untold babies, but then proudly pose for photo ops with them.
So I am not surprised to see an open rebellion in the higher ranks of the Church. I have to assume that Vigario has some support and is not alone in his observations of the Pope, who has increasingly appeared to me not only as a heretic but as a political operator as well, in his support of and promotion of Leftism around the world.
Dagnabbit! I get put in farmland instead of Guns and Fundamentalist land.
I have a sadz.
😦
Well, I got put for half a year in the Land of Bland, where if it had a spice it would be flour.
Allow me to say something that just may be universally slammed, but you all know me and that’s who I am … I want to know why in the hell a 30 ish year old woman is running the NYFD????? How many buildings has she ran into? How many people has she pulled out of fire ravaged homes? How many years of experience could she possibly have?? This DEI bullshit is how confidence and comradery erodes in our institutions. American needs to return to appointing leaders based on meritocracy and experience if we are ever to recover.

Clearly this is an appointed position, so all we have to know is (1) who appointed her, and (2) why. “Who” was Leftist radical Eric Adams.
The “why” is obvious when we look at what she said to James: “She told her: ‘I haven’t succeeded. I am sorry that we didn’t stop them and that I can’t fix them.’ and “She went on to thank James for teaching her that ‘bullying, threats and lots of booing with grace would be part of the gig if you ever wanted to make big change.”
In other words that she took the job to ” make big change” which includes stopping firemen from expressing themselves and trying to “fix” them. It kind of dealt that she’s going to get a lot of support and loyalty from a fire department that has just been informed that she took the job to change them and judges her success on how much she has been able to “fix them”. She may very well get a chance to practice dealing with lots of booing herself.
And am I the only one who is a little creeped out by the adoring fangirl comment to James: ‘So thank you for that. I care about you and will do anything for you, always,’ she added.
You can almost hear the subtext: “And I loved the pillow fight at our last pajama party—can’t wait to do it again. XXXXOOOO”
I’m creeped out about the whole f***ing thing. BTW, Steve Bannon is going to prison today on a misdemeanor charge, of which many Democrats are guilty of. And then they worry about retribution. LOL. Oh the irony
Stop gloating over the debate! Newsweek had a headline: “Undecided voters say they now support Joe Biden after debate”!
Of course, they didn’t bother to mention that this was the opinion of a focus group of 12 Latinos who had to have subtitles and/or a translator while watching the debate.
They’re not even trying to pretend to be honest.
If they can’t speak English well enough to follow the debate they probably are not citizens. I know people who were naturalized and they had to pass a fairly tough English competency test to be naturalized. Isn’t this focus group really a tacit admission of looking to find out who illegals will support?
And I heard today that Democrats complaining about the time of the “evening” debate, saying that Biden is best between 10a-4p EST. Let’s just hope when China invades Taiwan that it is within that time frame.
Didn’t the Dems lay down the rules for the debate? So what, they want the next one to be a brunch? I still have the chair I bought in April when I broke my patella, which I call my nursing home chair because it’s one of those lift recliners. I could donate it to the debate so Joe could get up more easily.
These people are so amazing.
Another signpost to illustrate the path the Left will be taking.
(and it’s like they are purposely setting up an appeal on so many grounds)
Great post at The Blaze about the pitfalls the Dems face in trying to get rid of Biden.
Do you think we could get a bulk rate on popcorn if we pool our resources?
Might be a good time to buy Orville Reddenbacher’s stock.
I’m still impressed with Mark’s analysis that the Bidens cannot afford to have Joe leave because he’s their only protection. I think he could freak out and decide he wanted to leave and they wouldn’t let him because without him in the Oval Office there is nothing to stop any other president from pursuing investigations and prosecutions of the whole damn family and the more I think about it the more I think that single consideration outweighs everything else and is what will drive a final decision.
Which doesn’t mean it isn’t going to be fun to watch the freak outs and hysteria and general carrying on. The Kamala supporters, all 9 of them, will be happy because of the very good chance that Joe couldn’t make it through all 4 years if he happened to be elected, and that would resolve the “what can we do about Kammy” problem and give the Dems time to come up with somebody better than Newsom and Gretchen. It’s so funny that some people are even keeping Bootyjuice’s name in the mix.
OT I ran across something about Kamala earlier today pointing out that when she got into the Senate all the press buzz was about her being the first Indian senator. I wonder when she decided to be black. Her mother was Indian. Her father was half Afro-Jamaican, which was just a generic term for people from that part of the world who had some African blood but by the time he was born most were mulattos, and half Irish-Jamaican which was not known to be heavily of mixed blood, so he would appear to be only half African, if that. Pictures of him don’t show a man who looked strikingly African looking a lot like an older Barack Obama. She’s probably got a better claim to be black than Fauxchonatas has to be Native American but I still wonder what a DNA analysis would show. All reports are quite coy about when he became a naturalized citizen, just “sometime in the 60s” and Kamala wa born in 1964. Another mystery Democrat with a cloudy history and selective race.
