Obamunism! GM Failing, Again

From Bloomberg:

General Motors Co. (GM) stocked Jim Ellis Chevrolet in Atlanta with plenty of Silverado full-size pickups in early 2011, part of a wager on a strong economic recovery. The strategy is backfiring.

“We thought that this year would bring back the kind of economic activity that would translate into us selling more trucks,” Mark Frost, the dealership’s general manager, said in a phone interview. “It’s not happening.”…

…After GM’s truck inventory swelled to 122 days worth of average sales, the company said 100 to 110 will be normal going forward for such a large and complex line of vehicles, compared with 60 to 70 days for most models. Peter Nesvold, a Jefferies & Co. analyst, isn’t convinced. Ford Motor Co. (F), which makes similar trucks, is running at 79 days, and Nesvold says GM averaged 78 days on hand at year end from 2002 to 2010…

That first bit is nonsense – GM didn’t pile vehicles in to the dealership in anticipation of an economic rebound, but merely to have vehicles “sold” on the books.  From what I understand, GM counts a vehicle as sold when it is sent to the dealership.  If you want to fake your numbers and make it look like your taxpayer bailed out corporation is recovering, this is how you do it…”stuff” the dealerships with vehicles, call them “sold” and allow President Obama to state that we’re heading in the right direction.  Zero Hedge, though, has been on this since last December, and had an update on July 1st – here’s the chart:

Up and up and up goes the inventory – more and more cars being produced, with taxpayer subsidies, which no one has any money to buy.  A very large amount of our GDP “growth” over the past two years has been this sort of thing – inventory build up. Part of this is just corruption – as in GM’s case where they are trying to make a major Obama policy look like a success – while another part is just idiocy – a blinding faith in Keynesian economics which infects our entire economy.  Including in corporate board rooms where economists have received the same sort of Keynesian indoctrination that government and academic economists have received:  if government spends money, it will fix the economy.

This is Obamunism, good people – the final test that Keynes was wrong; that spending doesn’t make you rich.  The only thing which can make us rich is a free market economy based upon hard work, savings and careful investment.  Government’s only functions are to ensure a sound money supply, a balanced budget and that no one is using fraud to get ahead.  Once we get to that happy state of affairs, we’ll have a real economic recovery…until then, we’ll just wallow in the doldrums with a complete collapse possibly literally at any time.

So the tax payers lost $14 billion propping up the UAW at GM, and now inventories of unsold vehicles are piling up? I am shocked that government meddling in the private markets hasn’t worked out. Or maybe liberals do consider this a success.

If this is blocked by a court appeal, etc., what would that mean?

To the kneepadder Left, it would mean nothing. But to the real world?

so then do you believe that the BC produced was a fake? or a forgery?

seriously, will you ever admit, or accept that he was elected, was born in the US, and is a NATURAL born citizen.

I know, I know, amy will come back and say that natural born has not been defined, and that we don’t know, and that’s why Rubio and Jindal won’t run, because they respect the constitution…blah blah blah…in reality, those two won’t run because they can’t win, and natural born as of right now means born in the UNITED STATES.

Js, time to give up the “fight” buddy, the man’s an American, natural born American. admit it, move on.

so then do you believe that the BC produced was a fake? or a forgery?

it matters not what bloggers “believe” there is evidence it is a fake.
The courts will force them to reveal the original,, which they cant of course.
he was a bastard kenyan kid born to a minor.
possibly an anchor baby hardly a natural born citizen.

        hillary 2012?

        js,

you do realize that minor v happersett had nothing to do with natural born citizen right? it was decided under the 14th amendment.

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minor_v._Happersett

you really believe that this nutty lawyer taitz will win don’t you? It’s all part of a big conspiracy isn’t it? Liberals groomed this guy from 1960 to now to be a President? and everyone is in on it except for well….300 million people?

Seriously, at what point are you going to admit that it’s reaching a little to far. You’d have to believe an awful lot of things to believe in the manchurian candidate theory.

Well, here goes thomas, lying again.

No one has claimed that “…Rubio and Jindal won’t run, because they respect the constitution…..” I have suggested that:

        1. They are in a unique position to petition the courts to rule and establish a firm definition for “natural born citizen” and that I think it is important to remove confusion and ambiguity related to this phrase.

        2. If they were to run without first getting this established the claims that Obama’s father’s UK citizenship disqualified Obama from “natural born citizen” status would be, rightly, used against them.

        3. We need to be consistent and cannot simply pick and choose when we will pay attention to what laws. If the attention paid to the “natural born citizen” definition and requirement is valid, then it is valid no matter to whom it may apply.

You didn’t recognize # 3 because it is about ethics and honesty and therefore alien to you.
        u.

oooh, amy is throwing lightweight insults around a blog and thinks she is tough.

the fact is that you and js are birthers. Nothing this man does or doesn’t do will convince you that hie is eligible to be President.

Even if the SC were to say that natural born simply means being born in this nation….you’d still come up with another excuse.

You’re simply pathetic and a sideshow to the real issues facing this nation.

good luck in your battle to prove he isn’t a natural born citizen amy.

ps. don’t be so smug next time, is unbecoming of someone whose friends are on forbes and who lives among millionaires. HA!

tommy, do not assume that I share your disdain for the truth. If the Supreme Court rules on the definition of “natural born citizen” I will accept that ruling. The problem is, there is now no contemporaneous definition of the term, which I think needs to be corrected.

Just because your knee-pad fawning over All That Is Obama is based on nothing more than emotion does not mean that everyone else is so mindless. Some of us base our opinions on fact and not giddy swings of FEELINGS.

And do try to avoid this constant lying thing, which has come to be an identifying feature of your posts. I never said I am FRIENDS with people who appear in Forbes. I merely said I share fence lines with them. And I do. This is the real world, where grownups discuss real issues, and we share many interests and concerns relating to business. If you were not so ignorant of the reality of Wyoming ranch real estate and its appeal to the very rich, you might not insist on making such clear statements of your cluelessness.

On the other hand, given your general dismissive attitude toward facts and the truth, you would probably continue to make false statements just because this is what you do.

But——-since you brought it up, what do YOU think are “the real issues facing this nation”? Are you really finally ready to discuss POLITICS? Are you really finally ready to outline your ideas for the best format for governing the country? Or are you too addicted to your tabloid version of politics, and to your spite and malice, to let reality intrude?

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona July 7, 2011 / 11:47 am

tommy, has it occurred to you that my non-millionaire neighbors might put ME in that “millionaire” category?

Or that even my non-Forbes-level neighbors are, due to their real estate holdings, also “millionaires” if you go by their net worth and not their incomes?

Your life is just too small and mean to be able to comprehend life outside your teeny tiny little bubble of hate and resentment.

        Sucks to be you, eh?

It’s kind of heartening to see that birthers never give up the fight. Few things in this world remain as unwavering as birther idiocy.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona July 7, 2011 / 8:43 pm

Few things in this world remain as predictable as the inability of the Loony Left to define “birther”.

It seems to mean people who think Obama was born outside the US, people who think he was born in Hawaii, people who want to define the term “natural born citizen”, people who think he is probably eligible but wonder why he is so determined to withhold proof, people who think he was probably born in Hawaii but think the state is insane for having one document which can mean either of two completely opposite things, and people who think he was born in Hawaii but are smart enough to understand that the subsequent hodgepodge of various and often conflicting stories do not mean there is suspicion of a conspiracy.

What is fascinating is that there are actually some people who think that constantly babbling a meaningless word is supposed to be an insult.

      • MontyBurns's avatar MontyBurns July 8, 2011 / 2:06 am

You’re the one who’s so insulted by the term, Amazona. Yet you can’t seem to leave the subject alone. Now why is that?

  3. Amazona's avatar Amazona July 7, 2011 / 11:27 am

tommy clumsily tries an old Lefty tactic of reductio ad absurdum or trying to dismiss an argument by restating it in exaggerated (though false) terms to make it appear that the argument itself is foolish.

No one has ever claimed that “the Left” or space aliens or talking monkeys or any other entity ever realized that Stanley Ann’s in utero child could be guided from birth to the White House if only certain deceptions were practiced beginning at his birth.

The problem is that, due exclusively to the deceptions and antics of the Dems (“the Left”) in recent years, the truth of young Barry’s birth has not been readily available, and in the absence of proof there will always be questions and speculation.

It’s not hard to imagine a relatively benign explanation for the recorded information, such as it is or was or whatever, at the time of Barry’s birth. Example: Young Stanley Ann was a smart girl, and probably aware of the advantages of U.S. citizenship. You may not know this, but women tend to be emotional near and at and after the birth of their children, especially when there are other factors leading to emotional distress, so it is not hard to imagine her becoming quite agitated at being told that she could not return to the United States, to her home and friends and family, for the birth of her first child, but would have to give birth in a strange nation, among strangers. It does not require any belief in any Manchurian Candidate scenario, or conspiracy, to imagine her older “husband” assuring her that they could establish the baby’s citizenship credentials by applying for a COLB, stating that the birth had taken place in Honolulu, and no one would be the wiser. He, also, was bright, and seemed to know his way around and through bureaucracies, having managed to get several grants to support his studies, and after all the law regarding the COLB was quite clear—no investigation could be mounted regarding any information given other than that of the actual RESIDENCY of the parents. It would be safe to claim Hawaiian birth—after all, who would ever check up on it, once there was an official record on file?

So far, this possible explanation has to do with nothing more sinister than the desire of a young girl for her child to be a U.S. citizen and her older husband trying to make up for taking her away from her native land so her child would not be born in the United States.

No serious dishonesty has to be considered until young Barry comes to the attention of Leftist policy makers, which could be as early as his years at Occidental or Columbia. It appears that he had a godfather appear during this general time frame, as he then had no problem getting accepted to Harvard Law, having adequate income, being head of the Law Review, getting his records sealed, and achieving much that has never been explained. By this time young Barry was a well-known Leftist radical who could have been seen as having great promise.

But no one has ever tried to claim that some vast conspiracy began at Barry’s birth. It is just considered, for some bizarre reason, to be a devastating rebuttal to questions about later events surrounding his birth records to pretend that this is claimed, so it can be identified as foolish. The fact is, the foolish thing is the frantic need of the RRL and its dedicated little foot soldiers to go to any lengths to ridicule and dismiss questions instead of answering them.
