Obama’s Fat Cat Donors Come Through

The Billion Dollar Man is making his way – and selling himself completely.  From Politico:

About 40 percent of President Barack Obama’s record-breaking $86 million second-quarter fundraising haul came from big-money bundlers, according to a POLITICO analysis of donors listed on Obama’s campaign web site.

No fewer than 27 mega-bundlers managed to collect at least $500,000 for a joint account run by Obama’s 2012 campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

That exclusive circle included marquee fundraisers like Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, Hollywood titan Jeffrey Katzenberg, DNC treasurer/personal finance guru Andrew Tobias and former New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine, who was CEO of Goldman Sachs before entering politics.

That group chipped in a minimum of $13.5 million, according to records. In addition, $21.4 million was bundled in amounts of between $50,000 and $499,000…

Thank goodness Obama is fighting for the poor and middle class; if that weren’t the case, all this millionaire and billionaire money would be worrisome.  And we know he’s going after the millionaires and billionaires because he says so – whenever he talks taxes, he’s sure to mention that millionaires and billionaires must pay their fair share.  So, it is amazing that the millionaires and billionaires keep coming through for him…I mean, after all, Obama is promising to tax them more.  In fact, his proposals for taxation always call for hitting those millionaires and billionaires who make more than $250,000.00 per year….

Hey, wait a minute…how many years would you have to work to become a millionaire at $250,000.00 a year?  Four years…if you didn’t spend a dime on anything.  And how many to become a billionaire?  Four thousand years…  You know, now that I think about it, it seems kind of strange that Obama would say a millionaire makes $250,000.00 a year…and downright stupid to think that a billionaire makes that much.  Could it be…?  No!  It couldn’t be that!  It couldn’t be that all Obama is doing is talking about taxing the rich while really taxing the middle class and that is why the millionaires and billionaires are pouring money in to his campaign.  That couldn’t be the case, could it?

yet there are those who buy into this class warfare

    Black America vs. Obama?
    ://news.yahoo ^ | Jul 11 2011 | By Patrick J. Buchanan

“The Disappearing Black Middle Class” ran the headline over the Chicago Sun-Times story. And the statistics from the Economic Policy Institute were indeed sobering.

Not only in Wisconsin, Ohio and New Jersey, run by Republicans, is this so, but in liberal mega-states like New York and California. There, Govs. Andrew Cuomo and Jerry Brown run the show, and government payrolls are also being slashed and government pensions pared back.

From Greece to Portugal to Ireland to Italy, an age of austerity has begun. And now that age is about to begin in Barack Obama’s Washington.

Why should this adversely affect black America?

Because not only are African-Americans disproportionately the beneficiaries of federal programs, from the Earned Income Tax Credit to aid for education and student loans, they are even more over-represented in the federal workforce than they are on state payrolls.

Though 10 percent of the U.S. civilian labor force, African-Americans are 18 percent of U.S. government workers. They are 25 percent of the employees at Treasury and Veterans Affairs, 31 percent of the State Department, 37 percent of Department of Education employees and 38 percent of Housing and Urban Development. They are 42 percent of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp., 55 percent of the employees at the Government Printing Office and 82 percent at the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency.

When the Obama administration suggested shutting down Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the mortgage giants whose losses of $150 billion have had to be made up by taxpayers, The Washington Post warned, in a story headlined, “Winding Down Fannie and Freddie Could Put Minority Careers at Risk,” that 44 percent of Fannie employees and 50 percent of Freddie’s were persons of color.

H1: Obama is a Marxist and wants to redistribute the $$$ from rich to poor
H2: Billionaires have lots of $$$ and want to keep it
H3: Quite a few billionaires are giving big $$$ to Obama
Conclusion 1: Those billionaires are dupes who made their $$$ without much smarts

Or maybe hypothesis 1 is wrong and really Obama is a suck up to the wealthy just like Clinton.

No reason to show class envy there Mark.

John 3; 17-21 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. F9 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

    • js's avatar js July 16, 2011 / 8:12 pm

you can see what they do…when they hide from the light…but only if you love the light…more than you love the darkness…because those who cleave to the darkness dont know what the light is…so they cannot understand the light…and in thier hearts…the darkness cannot be reproved…they hate the light…and that is why obama was elected…and that is why obama garners so much worldly wealth…not because he righteous…but the opposite…he serves the darkness…in this world

SO Bardolf. . are you saying that Obama did, in fact, not say these things and doesn’t constantly talk about Wealth redistribution, as if the government owned the wealth and should decide who gets it?

    • bardolf's avatar bardolf July 17, 2011 / 10:15 am

I don’t care what Obummer SAYS. He SAYS a lot of things but he delivers zippo. He SAID he would close GITMO. He SAID he would end the wars. Actually, I’m not even sure he talks about wealth distribution at all much the less constantly. Care to back that up?

I’ll add you to the billionaires are dupes list along with Neoconehead.

I don’t care what Obummer SAYS. He SAYS a lot of things but he delivers zippo.

I need to remind you stool that it was Obama who said that words matter. And he really doesn’t need to speak about wealth redistribution anymore because his policies now do the talking. Obamacare is the mother of all redistribution laws.

However, this money is coming via the stimulus, through union coffers. The stimulus was simply a money laundering scheme for union bosses and democrat politicians, of which the tax payer will pick up the tab.

      • bardolf's avatar bardolf July 17, 2011 / 11:27 am

        Clueless

You’re also on the list of ‘billionaires are dupes’. Obama said that what Obama says matters LOL.

        1. Obamacare might be undone in any manner of ways
        2. The people who make money in the health care world are doctors and pharmacists which is why there is no increased competition in the form of a government option and large handouts to the pharmaceutical industry

Money laundering, union bosses, coffers … probably happening on the Jersey shore no doubt. In the real world Obama and Boehner just go to Wall Street, give speeches and pass around the collection plate. In last weeks news:

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington conducted a study that estimated more than 25,000 U.S. jobs were at risk because of Mexican tariffs imposed because the trucking unions in the US were against allowing NAFTA legislation allowing Mexican truckers to drive into the interior of the US.

Obama cleared that up, upset the evil unions and saved the 25,000 jobs! Hooray!!! The typical looter response was predictable—

“This program will jeopardize the livelihoods of tens of thousands of U.S.-based small-business truckers and professional truck drivers and undermine the standard of living for the rest of the driver community,” said Todd Spencer, association executive vice president.

    Stool,

It’s impossible to determine what your point is here, as your post is really just a compilation of incoherent statements. How can I be a dupe for billionaires? When I never said that I believe billionaires are the ones contributing? This is a line I think you’ve latched onto, to use as a club, but really don’t apply appropriately. And what is so wrong with Wall Street contributing to campaigns? Are they not Americans? Is Wall Street not simply comprised of American corporations that employ your neighbors, employ many union members, pay a lot in taxes, and provide goods and services to the entire nation? Or do you just see them as a bunch of white, old guys sitting around smoking cigars and counting their money?

      cluster

Or do you just see them as a bunch of white, old guys sitting around smoking cigars and counting their money?

      you have baldork pegged.

    • bardolf's avatar bardolf July 17, 2011 / 3:21 pm

I stated 3 hypotheses, the last 2 of which are self evident namely fat-cats want to keep their money and many are also donating to Obama. The first hypothesis is a right-wing talking point of Obama as a redistributionist.

The logical conclusion to be drawn by accepting all 3 hypotheses is that those giving $$$ to Obama are working against their own self interest, i.e. ‘billionaires are dupes’.

Far more plausible is that the rich are not working against their own interest and hence Obama is not a redistributionist.

As for white guys, sitting around counting their money, snort. There is a lot of talk about class envy on this blog, a closer examination reveals an envy of union workers and the lower class ‘looters’. The envy of union workers is thinly disguised as disliking the ‘bosses’.

Aren’t the heads of the unions just ordinary Americans? Aren’t they simply a group of people trying to maintain a reasonable standard of living for the middle class? Or do you just see them as a bunch of mafiosos, fat old guys sitting around smoking cigars and deciding which Democrat politician to make into a king?

working against whose interests…the economy is really crazy…the cost of rent has risen two fold in the last 6 years…while the price of housing has declined…the cost of food has more than doubled…while the farmers are being paid no more today than they were…6 years ago…the cost of clothing has doubled…the costs of just about everything has sharply increased…do the very rich really want to keep this trend up…absolutely…

all they gotta do…is keep the DNC in power…or we should actually call it…CPUSA…socialist democrats…liberals…or…marxist…bottom line…they want to keep the power…thats why obieOne has already taken in so much money

      • bardolf's avatar bardolf July 18, 2011 / 4:49 am

Can you connect some dots? Where in the USA have food prices doubles, rent doubled, clothing prices doubled … in the past 6 years and how is the GOP less responsible for the economy than the Democrats?
