If you were a brain washed citizen of country X, which hadn’t attacked another country in 200 years, had it’s democratically elected leader removed in a coup and replaced by a puppet, were within missile range of a religious nation that has atomic weapons and where female soldiers are called whores for not sitting in the back of the bus, had 100000 of your people killed by WMD of Saddam, had your economy threatened by embargo, has your scientists killed in the middle of the street, would you be paranoid?
Those poor Iranians. I can’t tell you how bad I feel barstool, you nearly brought a tear to my eye. If only Neda was around to read your drivel.
Mosaddegh was installed by the legislature serving the ruling Pahlavi family, which ruled Iran going back to 1919. When Mosaddegh acted outside the interests of the Pahlavi family, he was removed by the Iranian army with the help of US and Britain.
Just a few facts to counter your hyper drama. Carry on.
legislature = parliament in this case. Now, carry on.
Mohammad Reza Pahlavi replaced his father on the throne on September 16, 1941.
Despite his vow to act as a constitutional monarch who would defer to the power of the parliamentary government, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi increasingly involved himself in governmental affairs. He concentrated on reviving the army and ensuring that it would remain under royal control as the monarchy’s main power base. In 1949 an assassination attempt on the Shah, attributed to the pro-Soviet Tudeh Party, resulted in the banning of that party and the expansion of the Shah’s constitutional powers.
In 1951, the Majlis (Parliament of Iran) named Mohammad Mossadegh as new prime minister by a vote of 79–12, who shortly after nationalized the British-owned oil industry (see Abadan Crisis). Mossadegh was opposed by the Shah who feared a resulting oil embargo imposed by the West would leave Iran in economic ruin. The Shah fled Iran but returned when the United Kingdom and United States staged a coup against Mossadegh in August 1953 (see Operation Ajax). Mossadegh was then arrested by pro-Shah army forces.
You are a moron. The Queen of England in your worldview would actually be the leader of England. Of course you didn’t even try to see the situation in Iran from an Iranians point of view. When oil prices skyrocket you’ll be paying at the pump and blaming Obama.
barstool, just admit that you over sensationalized the issue and move on.
Clueless
Admit you don’t understand the difference between a prime minister and a president. The US overthrew the popularly elected government of Iran.
Of course you’d be against the American revolution if you were around in the 1700’s.
Ahmadinejad, is that you?
its so much easier for the mental midgets to cleave to a fantasy when its end brings “justice” and to the underdog…
“A man can marry a girl younger than nine years of age, even if the girl is still a baby being breastfed. A man, however is prohibited from having intercourse with a girl younger than nine, other sexual acts such as foreplay, rubbing, kissing and sodomy is allowed. A man having intercourse with a girl younger than nine years of age has not committed a crime, but only an infraction, if the girl is not permanently damaged. If the girl, however, is permanently damaged, the man must provide for her all her life. But this girl will not count as one of the man’s four permanent wives. He also is not permitted to marry the girl’s sister.”

“its so much easier for the mental midgets to cleave to a fantasy when its end brings “justice” and to the underdog.” js69
js wants the young males in his family to die in a war against Iran because he read a website which quotes a religious nut who came to power because a couple generations ago the US had secret coup d’etat of a secular, democratically elected leader who thought the resources of his country belonged to the people of his country

Iran =islam=MURDER

Neoconehead
China =Communism=BIG MURDER
Good thing Clinton,Bush and Obama are unanimous in their opinion of most favored nation status huh? And Matt endorsed Gingrich!
House Speaker Newt Gingrich welcomed Clintons recommendation for renewing MFN status for China, and vowed to work in a bipartisan manner to ensure that China receives it from Congress.
Gingrich voted for NAFTA and the WTO; loan guarantees for China; most favored nation status for China; $1.2 billion in aid to the United Nations; and the creation of the Department of Education.
It would be nice if we had more reality based people on this planet. On one side we have the liberals like James, who voted for a man who promised to heal the planet, stem the rise of the seas, and foster unity and tranquility, all the while having the thinnest of resumes, showing not a single shred of evidence that he actually could do anything with the exception of writing his own biography. On the other hand, we have the GMB’s and his reluctance to engage in the process, absent the perfect candidate that will fully support his idea of the utopian conservative model on all fronts, no exception, with the inclusion of never having wavered on any single issue
Both extremes will be obstacles that rational people will have to overcome this year in finding the right solutions to the tax and entitlement reforms this country so desperately needs.
It would be nice if there were fewer sheeple in the world. On the one side you have Gorons who believe in the nanny state controlling everything and on the other hand you have clueless who thinks the market is God on days 1-6 of creation.
Clueless would approve if Abraham Lincoln had told the slave masters they could keep things as is, as long as taxes were at the right rate to encourage investment and a general prosperity for white people. Millions of abortions per year are A OK as long as Clueless gets a tax cut or as long as tax rates are fixed long enough that he can do long term planning. At least Amy can content herself with the slaughter by repeating to herself that the president can do almost nothing about abortion.
Once the race card is dropped, I know that barstool has lost all rationality.
Clueless
I know the unborn don’t represent a vulnerable class of people for you. Just as long as you get your tax breaks.
if only the stooges were removed…we would have no more wars…poverty would disappear…disease would be erradicated…and utopia would ensue…
alas…we of moral conscience are barred from the destitute acts that violate our heartfelt values…otherwise it would be done…
life itself is an unalienable right…we protect them all…even stooges…
There is a whole list of freedoms that could fall under the states rights category. Repubs like Romney have shown a willingness to give them away. Fine for you I guess. Again I’ll pass onrinos that continue to compromise in order to bring this country closer to the left.
Romney brought his state a lot closer to a left wing haven and will do the same to United States as a whole.
All in the name of compromise.
“GMB, I know that was aimed at Cluster, but that’s offensive. Hopefully you’re just confusing “money” with fiscal policy.”
“Fiscal Poicy”? Think about it. In other words money policy? How money is spent. I will let you two define it. You tell me why it is offensive to question this sort of statement.
What is more important? The manner in which this country spends money or the manner in which this country has allowed 55 million of it’s own citizens not to be born?
The republican party could not find the courage to defund planned parenthood last year. They found the courage to extend the Bush tax rate cuts. You tell me what was more important and why it is offensive.
baldork
you get the pot and crack bags mixed up boy?
Neoconehead
Do you believe that the war on drugs has worked?
You like to waste national treasure keeping a guy away from the bong because you think he is polluting his body- sounds like you’re a nanny state supporter.
once the name bardolf appears I know we will be treated to inanity and outright lies, so why bother?
After all, it takes a bardolf to come up with a concept like claiming I content myself with the slaughter of the unborn because, and you need to work really hard to try to follow this, because my understanding of the role of the president allows me to be “content” with butchering babies.
Yes, folks, this is the quality of reasoning from bardolf—when it’s not just a lie it’s a freakin’ crazy lie.
But then the only reason my father took a better job was because some nuns had decided they hated me and kicked me out of school.
And if you change the words in a book, it will mean something different.
I would have to disagree. I am not looking for the perfect candidate. I am looking for someone mildly exceptable. I am not looking for someone who will take this country closer to the leftwing ideology which is morally and monetarily bankrupting this country.
When you can find a candidte or a republican party for that matter that will force the leftys to compromise towards the right come and get me. Until then, enjoy your moral high ground and heavy lifting.
How many more of our freedoms will the repub party compromise away? Patriot Act, NDAA, SOPA, Anyone care to guess?
romny….the guy that instituted medical socialism in Mass….thats NOT a mildly acceptable candidate…
its more of the same ole same ole…
ya cant get good fruit from a rotten tree…it just dont work out that way
The question you need to ask yourself is – do states have the right to put into place and administer health care if the citizens of that state so desire? The answer is yes, and there are far more examples of that paradigm all over the country. For example in my state of AZ, which is pretty conservative, we have a program called ACCESS, and works pretty well and I support it for those in need.
So to dismiss this fact, and chide someone who acted on the desires of his constituents, is to be just a bit naive.
So, legislating freedom away is ok as long as the state does it and not the fed? I’ll pass. Again I ask, How many more of our freedoms are the repubs willing to to legislate away in the name of compromise?
I can’t wait until the TSA decides you need to go through one of thier “security checks” just to drive on an Interstate or some other such nonsense.
You folks wonder why a lunatic like Ron Paul is becoming more popular? Look in a mirror.
Drama much? How does the Mass. program step on your freedoms? If the people of Mass. don’t like the program that the majority of Mass. voted for, then they can move, so again, no restriction of freedom.
Next.
And the TSA is a completely different animal than Mass. health care. Please stay focused.
This is a STATES RIGHTS issue people. If the state of Mass. wants gay marriage and wants state run health care the more power to them. I would not live in that state, but some people would, and that’s freedom. We need 50 sovereign states. We don’t need people who think they know best for everyone. That’s what Obama does, so please try and distance yourself.
Here’s your buddy barstool with the most asinine statement I have ever read.
I know the unborn don’t represent a vulnerable class of people for you. Just as long as you get your tax breaks.
Here’s your buddy barstool with the most asinine statement I have ever read.
I know the unborn don’t represent a vulnerable class of people for you. Just as long as you get your tax breaks.
Why is it assinine? You have said many times that money is your focus and the social issues are not very important to you.
What would you have us believe?
Simple minds.
Why is the question not valid? You have said in it your own words.
It is no never mind to me anyway. As we get closer to the November election it is getting clear that Romney is going to have the toughest time against barky. The repubs are intent on this.
Good luck.
Why is the question not valid? You have said in it your own words.
Really genius? Please regale me with “my own words” wherein I stated that a tax break supersedes the rights of the unborn.
You have said many times in the year and half I have been reading this blog blog that monetary issues are more important to you than social issues.
Do I really have to search the archives and find these posts where you have said that? I will if I have to.
If monetary issues are more important to you then why is it a reach to assume with you that money is more important than life?
If monetary issues are more important to you then why is it a reach to assume with you that money is more important than life?
GMB, I know that was aimed at Cluster, but that’s offensive. Hopefully you’re just confusing “money” with fiscal policy.
You and I have had a cordial relationship in the time you’ve been here. I agree with you on some issues, not on others. I’ve always considered myself pro-life, but I also recognize that there are forces at work that have the full intention of destroying our economy and our way of life. If we don’t get our fiscal house in order, none of the social issues you care about so deeply will matter. Does that mean I value money over life? Of course not, and, having known Cluster for 3 times as long as I’ve known you, I’d be surprised if he doesn’t feel exactly the same way.
GMB,
Money isn’t even a close second to life. And is quite a reach to conflate fiscal concerns for those of protecting the unborn. I have never, and will never do that. I detest the practice of abortion and consider it to be manslaughter at the very least. I think it is a practice that should be stigmatized in our society, but that being said, I do support a women’s right to an abortion in the event of rape, incest, etc.
” I’ve always considered myself pro-life, but I also recognize that there are forces at work that have the full intention of destroying our economy and our way of life.” – Spook
That is just crazy fear mongering. If you drive a few miles to Canada you see that our “way of life” isn’t any different than their “way of life” even though they have socialized medicine.
Even the average poor person has indoor plumbing, heating, has so many calories he is overweight, has enough entertainment for eternity, has access to reasonable free education, communication devices … It seems you imagine a Mad Max beyond Thunder-dome scenario, but NOTHING is in so short of supply. Though slightly more expensive, the bakken oil fields are enough to keep energy prices from exponential growth which would contain food prices etc.
The MAIN problem of today is not how to make sure everyone has the basics+ in life, but how to meaningfully employ all of them in constructive pursuits. That is the source of why we so many students are in college even though they might not want to be there, why we have such a large military even though the world is safer than during the cold war.
Going back to Clueless’ quote out of context. If we compare the standard of living in 2012 for even the lowest 10% of the population with the top 10% in the North during the civil war there would be no contest. So why should life issues take a back seat to economic issues again?
The MAIN problem of today is not how to make sure everyone has the basics+ in life, but how to meaningfully employ all of them in constructive pursuits. – barstool
Wow. You and I are on completely different planets. I thought the MAIN problem of today was to reform our entitlements to help prevent the impending economic collapse so that we can hopefully get back to a smaller more effective government which in turn will present opportunities for individuals to pursue their rights to life, liberty and happiness, which would include finding their own employment and supplying the basics+ for themselves. I think most people would prefer that rather than have someone like you or Obama do that for them.
Just saying
Even the average poor person has indoor plumbing, heating, has so many calories he is overweight, has enough entertainment for eternity, has access to reasonable free education, communication devices – barstool
Well what more do they want? Those ungrateful Americans.
It seems you imagine a Mad Max beyond Thunder-dome scenario,
Geez, hyperbole much!
“Wow. You and I are on completely different planets. I thought the MAIN problem of today was to reform our entitlements to help prevent the impending economic collapse.” – Clueless
reform OUR entitlements but don’t 1. Cut the military 2. Touch health care for the elderly the top top costs in the budget.
You might have written the Main problem is to reform YOUR entitlements. Of course I’ve always said if Romney promises to get rid of failed education programs like head start or NCLB or the Dept. of Education I would vote for him.
Maybe you meant the Main problem is to get rid of poor entitlements, but they aren’t really that big.
When the GOP nominates neither a fiscal or social conservative like Mittens, who goes on to lose to Obama and in 2016 there is still no economic collapse you’ll be 4 years older, 4 million more abortions will have come and gone and you will still not realize you live on planet clueless.
“If we don’t get our fiscal house in order, none of the social issues you care about so deeply will matter.”
And again the question is, which fiscal issues would that be? This leads back to my original question. I will put it this way. If you are a Bible believing person which issue is more importatant?
Render unto Ceaser what is Ceaser’s or Thou shalt do no murder?
I will leave the answer to your descision. If you find these questions offinsive then you are more than welcome to ignore them or bring out the ban hammer.
Maybe you will think again before you bring me into a personal attack on another poster.
Not one mention about what is happening in MI where the governor is nullifying local elections. If it was a Democratic governor I doubt that would be the case. So much for the purported affinity for the Constitution.
so what exactly cause it…if the democratically elected gov’ in MI is nullifying elections…there MUST be some obscene law giving him that right…
why the shadow and mirror game?
the MI emergency management law has existed since 76…recently amended, it gives the MI Gov the authority to appoint managers who can fire elected and appointed officials for specific reasons…in order to protect the people…when those elected officials fail to protect the interests of the people…
one example it should be used would be when the local unions have a stooge in an elected position…that agrees to deficit spending to finance union benefits…leaving them literally unfunded until some future date…leaving the burden on the next generation of taxpayers…which is unethical to say the least…
it is a bold step to end the forever debt union backers have been capable of generating in the public coffers…misconduct on the part of elected officials resulted in the failure of cities like Detroit…which is a huge problem for every citizen in the state of MI…
So you are ok with nullifying elections if you do not agree with the outcome? You seem to have justified it by bringing up Detroit. Otherwise, what is your point? Perhaps the reverence for the Constitution is not genuine?
stealhead
proof?
If you make a statement saying thatf iscal issues are more important than social issues, how is that supposed to be taken. Which fiscal issues are more important? Tax rates? Tax cuts? Government spending? You tell me.
I didn’t bring this subject up. Cluster lumped me in with Bardolf in a response. Kind of opened himself up to this line of questioning no?
Really liked the debate the other night. Newt was on fire, and had, at least I think, some of the best answers to the questions, especially the one by Juan Williams. Looking forward to see who comes out on top in the primary there in South Carolina. My gut feeling is that Newt will be come with a good percentage of the vote, if not coming in first place. I like Santorum, but it seems he’s losing ground with the voters, and don’t know if it’s because of his social issue stances, or his fiscal stances. The American people are really having a tough time choosing a candidate that they want for President in this race. I guess because many have questionable records (like Mitty Romney), and others who have some strange ideas (like Ron Paul). I think it’ll be like Neocon said, that Florida will be the decider this year, perhaps Santorum will give us that surprise. Other than that, it’s too early to tell.
Just my two cents worth.
Big day with SOPA. What’s with the deathly silence from both parties about discredited former Democratic Senator Chris Dodd, who is now President and CEO of the MPAA, who is pushing this debacle?
discredited former Democratic
could be the whole damn party.
Bozo, I’ve read a couple articles about SOPA, and I heard a talking head trying to explain it on TV a couple nights ago. Other than it sounds like a noble effort with some possibly bad unintended consequences (actually describes a lot of congressional legislation), I still don’t exactly understand what the big deal is about this bill. Perhaps you could explain it in layman’s terms.
From what they say, and who knows if it’s true, this website could be blocked if I, a casual user, simply posted a description to link to a bootleg movie. By this website hosting my post, even though Matt didn’t write it, Hollywood elites could remove this entire site from the internet in the name of “combating piracy.”
No trial. No courts. Just…gone. Type in blogs4victory.wordpress.com and you’d get “error – not found.”
All someone will have to do to shut down your website is “accuse” you of copyrightrigt infringement. You are guilty unltil/unless you can prove your innocence.
I think righthaven wrote most of the bill and it it was pushed mainly by lamar smith (r) texas.
Thanks gop.
