The Maine caucus is finally over. Some 5000 votes cast. Mr. Romney beats Mr. Paul by 194 votes. Not exactly a ringing endorsement given his competition. Can you imagine how close this election in November would be if the GOP would have found and ran a good solid conservative?

A conservative would win in a landslide. The moderate compromiser, listener to the will of people type is going to have a very hard time indeed.

It’s my turn!! I’m more electable!!

    Yeah, sure, whatever.

The magic color is puce, though an apple green accent trim is acceptable.

The magic state is Denial, upon which all belief in Leftist ideology depends.

The magic car is the Volt, though if you want to go more than 40 miles you’re a racist, and it is recommended that seat belts not be fastened, to facilitate a quick exit in case of fire.

The magic phrase is Hope and Change, though the smoke and mirrors are less and less effective as time goes on,

The magic word used to be racist but it is so threadbare and tired, and with such a backlash, only the laggards are still trying to use it,

Catholic organizations don’t have to provide health insurance for their employees that offer free contraception, they just have to offer health insurance for their employees that gives them free contraception.

Religious folks can’t help but approve of this obviously Messiac solution.

I do not feel sorry for the Katolischers at all. They were more than willing to give away my rights as long as it did not apply to them. Suffer. katolics. Buck up and do what your masters tell you to do.

    • bozo's avatar bozo February 12, 2012 / 7:07 am

Since you don’t have to be Catholic to work for a Catholic organization, why should Catholics be allowed to impose their hocus-pocus on non-believers?

Besides, if religion really was a better way to manage your life, you could offer free hookers and blow, and your followers, seeing the wisdom of your holy greatness, wouldn’t take you up on the offer. No one is cramming birth control pills down anyone’s throat. Those poor delusionals who choose to follow the men in big hats don’t have to use contraception. They can just get pregnant, be fiercely protected while pregnant, and then be abandoned and ignored by religious conservatives the moment the baby is born until your child reaches military age.

Its called freedom of association bozo. There might even be some Supreme Court descions based on that. You might want to look it up. However, since you are a liberal and the constitution only means what you want it to mean, when you want it to meanit.

      • amazona's avatar amazona February 12, 2012 / 1:51 pm

Since you don’t have to be a Lefty to have your property confiscated and handed over to others, why should the Left be allowed to impose its hocus-pocus on non believers?

If collectivism really is a better way to manage your life, you could offer free housing, food, medicine, cell phones, and so on and the system would work, not collapse as it always has and always will. You wouldn’t have to cram it down people’s throats. Those poor delusionals who follow the men with the jackboots and big clubs would be able to point to a history of success, liberty and prosperity, and would not be so threatened by a belief system that is not centered on the State.

While you sneer at one belief system, smug in your foolish denial of what you cannot understand, evidently because it has not yet been ‘proven’ to you, you simultaneously show a slavish devotion to one which h as repeatedly been disproved.

And the only way you can frame an argument is to invent straw men, create ridiculous parodies, and duck and dodge the real issue.

In this case the symbol of the effort to repress religious freedom is that of contraception. But it is only the current stalking horse for encroachment upon the 1st Amendment. Your focus on it is proof of either your supidity or your belief that deception in the defense of Leftist agendas is justified.

        bozo,

Try and wrap your clown like, religious bigoted mind around the fact that people don’t have to work for Catholic institutions. If you opposed abortion then landed a job at planned parenthood, would that person have the right to complain and force planned parenthood to not offer that coverage now that she works for them?

Aside from that, Catholics do pay income taxes, and from those income taxes, money is given to planned parenthood, and other county health clinics wherein those contraception products are widely available to everyone. See how that works clown? Shouldn’t you now be thanking the Catholics for their generosity?

In regards to voter ID – do you know that many unions require ID to vote in their internal elections? So if ID is required, and obviously deemed acceptable, in union elections, don’t you think it might be a good idea to have that requirement when much more important elections are held? Your thoughts.

Aw yes the “real” conservative is what GMB wanted. Only if some divine conservative could have appeared through the clouds and blessed us with their presence, absent a single blemish of compromise, or nary a second thought of an alternate position on any issue that GMB would have disapproved of. The reality is of course that candidate does not exist, with the possible exception of a former governor who seems more content on promoting herself and doing her hair rather than do the heavy lifting of governing. But let’s just continue to tear other people to shreds until we are in the presence of that divine candidate – that makes a lot of sense.

was out last night having a (to die for ) hamburger and a few brewskies with four other couples. Two of the couples lifelong democrats and Catholics from the NY/NJ area.
They all voted for Ubomba but now they are up in the air on who they could back. The question was posed to me who would I vote for if the election were held tomorrow and the choice was Ubomba or one of the present GOP field.
I really had to think for a few minutes, the fig? nah.
Santorum? not with this crowd he would never fly. RuPaul? Pfffftttt.

So I presented mittens as my choice as anybody but Ubomba. (sorry GMB ) they ALL sat there for a minute then nodded their heads and said they could vote for mit.
These are the very cross over voters we need to crush the POtuS in nov.and I am beginning to believe that mitt can be the one alternative that people will cross over for.
Is he my real choice? NO
but can he attract these people? YES
We need to win the battle before us we worry about the winning the war.

PS funny thing they ALL love the idea of term limits, they ALL hate that 47% of Americans pay no federal income taxes yet suck up trillions of THEIR tax dollars.

My kind of Gal………Palin On Obama: “WTF”

Washington, D.C. — A few protesters mic-checked Sarah Palin’s keynote speech at CPAC today but didn’t last long. Nothing could touch Palin, who had the crowd on their feet for large portions of her speech.

The protesters in the back of the room yelled “Mic-check!” and were immediately greeted with a standing crowd — and Palin herself — chanting “USA, USA.” Security quickly whisked them out of the room.

“We just won — see how easy that is,” Palin said after they’d gone.

Very well said. Is Mitt my favorite conservative? – hell no, BUT he is conservative enough, and he can win, so he gets my vote. As I have said before, conservatives need to think in terms of multiple wins, not just this one, and we have a lot of work to do so let’s focus on the economy this time around, of which Mitt is a great candidate, then let’s spend the next four years reshaping the national dialogue and grooming the next great conservative POTUS, whom I think will be Rubio. It will take Mittens nearly his entire first term to bring about regulatory, entitlement and economic reform, if not longer so let’s just stay focused on that task and worry about the other battles later.

There would also be agreement, Rawls adds, on a second principle of justice (called “the difference principle,” see Chapter II) that would allow inequalities of wealth in society only if they maximized the minimum benefit to its least advantaged members.

Kloppenberg explains on page 93 that “alignment” between Rawls and Obama (and Alinsky) designates action and not merely theory:

It might seem jarring to find Rawls’ principles of justice hashed out in the church basements of Chicago’s far south side. But according to Kruglik, that is what he, Kellman, Galuzzo, and Obama knew they were doing.

On page 25, Kloppenberg identifies Obama’s associates as follows:

Obama was recruited by Gerald Kellman, called Marty in Dreams [of My Father] to work in the Developing Communities Project, an offshoot of the Calumet Community Religious Conference. From Kellman, from [community organizer] Mike Kruglik, and from Gregory Galuzzo of the Gamaliel Foundation, Obama learned the techniques of community organizing by being thrown into the deep end of the pool.

On page 93, Kloppenberg claims consistency between Rawls and Alinsky’s book Rules for Radicals (1971), adding bluntly: “Community organizers, at least from Kruglik’s perspective, work to enact Rawls’ theory of justice.”

Now, Democrats routinely portray Republicans as greedy, heartless, unprincipled Gordon Gekko clones. Conservatives can paint over this caricature by refusing to concede big philosophical ideas just because the left has appropriated them. Thus, Romney and Gingrich can call Obama’s bluff that he alone is entitled to claim (Rawlsian) fairness on behalf of his policies by pointing to compatibility between Rawls’ principles of justice and conservative tenets.

Interesting article in the New York Times yesterday, titled “Even Critics of Safety Net Increasingly Depend on It.”

It talks about how the government safety net was “created to keep Americans from abject poverty, but the poorest households no longer receive a majority of government benefits. A secondary mission has gradually become primary: maintaining the middle class from childhood through retirement.”

The article interviews a number of people in Chisago County in Minnesota. Chisago County is 97.21% white, with a median household income of $52,012. Only 3.2% of families live below the poverty line. And yet, half of these folks are getting government handouts. Every man, woman and child in reasonably affluent, lilly white Chisago County is drawing an average of $6,583 in benefits from the federal government.

Nationally, nearly half of all Americans live in households that receive government benefits. I know you folks like to deride black people and illegal immigrants as “moochers,” but that doesn’t account for half of US households, nor the people of Chisago County. We have met the moochers and they are you.

Meanwhile, the federal government continues to spend more than it takes in. So what to do about it? You folks constantly complain that no one offers solutions, so here are some proposals.

    1. Medicare. Over the next 10 years, medical benefits will account for a larger projected increase in the federal budget than any other kind of spending except interest payments on the federal debt. We’re talking about all of you retired B4V folks. Obviously, with the government in debt and all, we simply can’t afford to continue to subsidize your health care costs, so I propose that Medicare benefits be means tested. I would say that wealthy people like NeoClown immediately begin paying a $500 per month premium back to the government, or $6,000 a year. It would be more for people of higher means (if such people exist), less for people of lower means.

    2. Social Security. Beginning immediately, benefits would be means tested. For wealthy people like NeoClown, with substantial additional forms of income from multiple pensions, I’d say a 50% reduction in benefits would be in order. The amount of reduction would be based on other forms of income.

    3. Federal retirement benefits. The government obviously can’t afford the pay retirement benefits at the current rate, so I propose an across the board 10% reduction in all federal retirement benefits. That includes military retirements, spook.

    4. Alternative Minimum Tax. The ATM was meant to impose a nearly flat tax rate on people with substantial income so that they can’t dodge federal income taxes. The tax rates are in the range of 26-28%, depending on your filing status, 25% for capital gains, and 20% for corporations. Some people get hit with this, but obviously, it doesn’t quite work entirely, or why else would someone like Mitt Romney, with more than $20 million in income in a single year, pay less than 15% in federal income taxes? So I would fix the ATM to take into account all of a person’s income, not just certain kinds, and force people like Mitt Romney to pay 28% of his income in federal income tax.

Neocon just because you were lucky enough to be born white doesn’t make everyone who wants to level America’s playing field a commie. That was two wars ago brother. Time to jump on the new bandwagon– the war on the elderly. You’ve owned your own business but I bet you’ve never taken more than 50 an hour in salary in your life. If you worked at that job for 40 years at 50 dollars an hour you would earn 4,160,000 yet you somehow support those who make more than that in a year and wish to pay less than you do in taxes. If you want tax cuts I’ll give you one. When you’ve used up what you paid in to Social Security you’re cut off. If the government doesn’t owe welfare benefits to poor women who have made bad choices then it doesn’t owe middle class white people anything either because they chose to be consumers instead of savers. Now calculate how many dollars you’ve contributed to the system over the years and see if you or any of the rest of the soon to be walker brigade here at B4V can live on that for the next 25 years.

Redistribute wealth before it’s too late.

But neo, what can you say to someone who is simply too profoundly stupid to understand the difference between earned income and income from investments? If he can’t grasp the simple fact that the investment money has already been taxed, when it was earned, most likely at the highest tax rate, and that the tax on return on investment is really a double tax, raising the overall tax rate to over 50 %, then explaining it, AGAIN, won’t make a difference.

Or there is the recurring question…..profoundly stupid or just dishonest? It’s the same question we all have when reading

    Watson,

Your reference to Chicago county being “lily white” was extremely racist but that being said, why shouldn’t those folks receive benefits? Haven’t they paid into the system their entire life? And if you could for just one minute open your mind to something other than what the progressive agenda tells you to think, you would realize that conservatives want reform of entitlements – not the dismantling thereof. Means testing is an excellent start and so is adjusting retirement ages, benefits offered, etc.. If most liberals weren’t such mindless children, we might be able to have that conversation.

Well, cluster, I have never said I was a liberal, despite your continued assumptions otherwise. And ironically, you seem to agree with some of my suggestions even though you attack me. So maybe I am more open minded that you are.

As for the characterization of Chisago County–it’s Chisago in Minnesota, not Chicago, cluster–as white, it is in fact almost entirely white. We’re not talking about illegal immigrants or other people that NeoClown disparages here on a daily basis in his role of self-appointed B4V chief race baiter. We’re talking about people just like you. If you were offended, then too bad. Maybe you should take offense when race baiting is done by one of your buddies. I’d have more respect for you if you did.

One reason they shouldn’t receive those benefits, cluster, is because we can’t afford it. Or do you disagree that the federal government is overspending and needs to cut back? Are you seriously suggesting that taxpayers should pay for the breakfast and lunch of the children of a man making about $50,000 a year? Did you read the article? It’s all about how people like you and Clown who complain about moochers, and yet live off the government themselves. It’s about people like you. So maybe you could offer up some real conversation for a change.

I offered several ways to cut costs and one way to increase revenue. If you would like to engage in conversation, then go ahead. Otherwise, continue acting like a mindless child.

      • Cluster's avatar Cluster February 13, 2012 / 8:43 am

Maybe you should take offense when race baiting is done by one of your buddies. I’d have more respect for you if you did.

So it’s ok for you to reference people of my race as “lily white” and I have no right to be offended – and if I wasn’t offended you have more respect for me??? watson, I don’t give a f**k what you think, and your double standard in terms of racism exposes you as a fraud, charlatan and actually a racist of the highest order. Your racism is in the form of lowered expectations of others, and is again highly offensive. You may want to take a look in the mirror.

One reason they shouldn’t receive those benefits, cluster, is because we can’t afford it.

WE??? How about they. They were the ones that paid into these programs on the promise that those “paid for” benefits would be available for them. They also didn’t have a choice to pay into those programs, because of people like you, and now those people, like you, are telling them that they are greedy to expect those benefits in return??? You are a real piece of work watson, thankfully people with your low wattage of intelligence aren’t making the big decisions.

And you are a liberal watson, whether you know it or not.

Of course the wattle has never said he is a liberal. That would require a combination of political literacy and honesty, therefore not anything he would be likely to do.

His identification as a Liberal is based on the ‘ walks like a duck, quacks like a duck’ process of narrowing down a person’s political leanings, even when they are incoherent and obviously consist mostly of antipathy toward a misunderstood and largely invented Other.

My thoughts and prayers go to the Whitney Houston family at her passing!
Especially to her daughter who is taking it pretty hard!

    Very sad!

Odd that the liberal here doesn’t cry for a spoiled millionaire hedonistic drug-addled diva, but can’t believe that no one nowhere mentions .Sgt. 1st Class Billy A. Sutton, 42, of Tupelo, Miss., who died Feb. 7 in Uruzgan province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 223rd Engineer Battalion, 168th Engineer Brigade, Mississippi National Guard, West Point, Miss

Thank you Sir for my freedom, may you R.I.P.

        bozo,

Your transparent attempt to come across as one of pure and noble intent, while laying down the class card again, is hilarious. Do you always see people in terms of their financial worth?

This just in: Samuel Jackson is as big of a racist as watson:

In an interview with Ebony magazine, Jackson explained, “I voted for Barack because he was black. ‘Cuz that’s why other folks vote for other people — because they look like them … That’s American politics, pure and simple. [Obama’s] message didn’t mean [bleep] to me.”

Fortunately though bozo has the right to attack Jackson because of his immense wealth, so have at it bozo.

It’s the rich people who are to blame. In fact, did you know Obama is a millionaire? How many poor people did he trample on to get his wealth. Evil bastard.
