That sure is a dog of an immigration bill, isn’t it? I mean, if we really want to call it that. Its also got $60 billion for Ukraine, $14 billion for Israel in her hour of need…and $10 billion for the Palestinians so they can pay more people to murder Jews. Insane doesn’t really begin to cover this.
I mean, this thing is just horrible. And the talking points they’re using show that either they’re stupid or think you are. Just one for-instance, they’re saying “at 5,000 crossing in a day, the border automatically closes!”. As if 5,000 is ok…and as if there’s some magic counter along the border which trips at 5,000 and seals the border. Rather than as it actually is – Team Pudding Brain gets to decide if 5,000 or more have crossed and they get to decide if they’ll issue an order to close the border. Oh, and if you want to sue them about it, all cases will head to the Democrat-dominated DC federal court to make certain your case has no chance. And GOPers are saying this is the compromise position! Geesh – what was it to begin with? 10,000 a day and a free foot massage? There is not one aspect of this bill that actually secures the border but provision after provision ratifies the last 3 years and locks it in place until 2029 to tie Trump’s hands should he win in November.
This is our Ruling Class spitting on us.
My view is that we don’t need any immigrants. Our population is more than large enough that we can find people to take care of every task we have – yes, including picking our crops if they’re just paid an American wage rather than slave wages of which a portion is kicked back to the Cartels. But supposing you can make the argument that a certain level of immigration is acceptable and beneficial. Fine. But that’s easy: we set the criteria for immigrating (including the criteria for asylum seekers) and anyone who presents themselves at a legal point of entry is judged by the pre-set criteria. If you fit the bill, welcome! If you don’t, back you go.
But if you cross illegally then I don’t care if your oppressors are waiting for you on the other side of the border…back you go. We have ports of entry all along the border. There are US embassies and consulates all over the world. There is every opportunity to avail yourself of legal entry. If you are illegally crossing then you are, point blank, not an asylum seeker nor an immigrant…you are a criminal up to no good, or the victim of criminals up to no good. In neither case can I afford to let you in.
What we have now is complex, clunky and really outside of any one person’s control because that is what the Ruling Class wants. For two reasons:
- They’re making bank off it. Rely on it, the Cartels are shoveling money at people in the US government and NGO’s to keep things going.
- The Ruling Class hates us.
The second point is actually more important than the first. Run of the mill corruption can get very bad and cause all sorts of trouble, but you can also stop it very quickly. As soon as you are willing – like Bukele was in El Salvador – you just take or kill all the criminals. It really isn’t at all difficult; we’re not dealing with smart people. Criminals are monumentally stupid. If they weren’t stupid, they wouldn’t be criminals. Rounding them up and jailing them…or even having a series of terrible and unexplained accidents with them…is easy. Just takes the will to do it. But when your Ruling Class hates you, that becomes a problem.
When your boss hates you, he’s going to do everything he can to thwart you and if a combination of bribes and threats can no longer keep you in line, he’s going to get rid of you. Since before WWII – but massively accelerated after it – our Ruling Class has done everything it could to make certain the people don’t rule. Lies, bribes, conflict (foreign and domestic) have been used to keep us bewildered but mostly calm – the bribes were the big part of it. Welfare! Social Security! Medicare! They were stealing our money via inflation but until the 1970’s only a very little at a time. But that part of it couldn’t keep going – because when you keep giving out goodies financed by stealing the money of the recipients, you eventually provoke a financial crisis. The one that started in the 70’s and has really never ended, just masked by money printing at an ever more furious rate since then. Even the prosperity of the 80’s and 90’s was built on a house of (fake) cards. What the deepening financial crisis means, though, is that after a while the people you’re bribing start to lose fast enough to notice.
That really started after the 2008 financial crisis with only the briefest interruption under Trump. More and more inflation, fewer and fewer jobs…and more and more immigrants. To replace those who were being screwed. It works because while what is bad for you, an American, is a dream come true for the Indian.
Now, they’re going to screw the Indian guy, too…but they hope that he’ll vote Democrat long enough to see us into the hereafter. The most important thing is to get rid of us…with our silly notions about God and family and owning property and Rule of Law and having rights and all that drivel. That is what they’re trying to burn out of America…by teaching the kiddies that it’s all racist and importing enough people to outvote the adults who know better.
It is us or them, guys. Either we get rid of the whole Ruling Class – especially the GOP part of it – or they’ll get rid of us. And I mean we’ve got to want these people in jail. At a minimum. It isn’t enough to outvote them…we’ve got to uproot them. Take their money, take their positions, take their freedom.
Or they’ll take all ours.
This is what the Border Patrol Union says.
“Since Joe Biden has been in office, CBP has averaged over 6,700 apprehensions per day, and the vast majority have been released under a policy known as catch-and-release. Approximately 60% of all border apprehensions are single adults, a good number of whom are men of military age. The Border Act of 2024 will codify into law authorities that U.S. Border Patrol agents never had in the past. This will allow us to remove single adults expeditiously and without a lengthy judicial review, which historically has required the release of these individuals into the interior of the U.S. This alone will drop illegal border crossings nationwide and will allow a great many of our agents to get back to detecting and apprehending those who want to cross our borders illegally and evade apprehension. While not perfect, the Border Act of 2024 is a step in the right direction and is far better than the status quo, which is why the National Border Patrol Council endorses this bill and hopes for a quick passage.”
Seriously, Casper, do you think we’re stupid?
That’s just Administration talking points.
The guys who actually work the border have different things to say.
The above statement is from the guys who work the border. It is a step in the right direction. It isn’t going to make anyone 100% happy.
Casper, why did none of this happen under Trump? Why did Biden and Mayorkas tell Americans for three years the border was secure? Why is it all of a sudden a crisis now? Casper, you have the most dormant mind of anyone I have ever encountered. Just a few years back, Jeh Johnson, Obama’s guy, said that 1,000 illegal migrants a day was a crisis, yet now Democrats are saying 5,000 is acceptable.
Please don’t post here anymore, you just embarrass yourself.
Several rank-and-file Border Patrol agents criticized the Senate funding bill released late Sunday, telling the Daily Caller News Foundation that the legislation would allow the illegal immigration crisis to continue.
The Emergency National Security Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2024 allocates funding toward adding more personnel to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), detention beds to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities, expelling certain illegal migrants, and enhancing fentanyl interdiction. Four rank-and-file Border Patrol agents told the DCNF that the “Catch and Release” of illegal immigrants will continue if the bill is implemented because it allows for the release of family units and single adults who show a credible fear of persecution should they return home.
“Now that I’ve seen more of it, they can respectfully go f*ck themselves. The more I’m seeing the more it just puts what they’ve been doing in writing. You want to shut this down, it’s real easy. Team up DoD with DHS and let them enforce like we were supposed to be,” one agent told the DCNF.
“I feel like we are the only nation in the world that is this dumb about the border. Maybe it’s because we haven’t,” the agent added.
The Border Patrol union has endorsed the portion of the deal providing funding for border security, saying it’s “not perfect, but far better than the status quo.
”Andrew “Art” Arthur, who serves as a resident fellow in law and policy for the Center for Immigration Studies, told the DCNF that migrants will be released if they claim to have a fear of returning to their home country without seeing an immigration judge.
“’Catch and Release’ is absolutely happening,” Arthur said.
In recent years, the Border Patrol has recorded high levels of illegal immigration. Agents recorded more than 2.2 million encounters of migrants crossing the southern border illegally in fiscal year 2022, a new record, more than 2 million in fiscal year 2023, and more than 629,000 between October and January, according to federal data.
“It’s a load of bullsh*t,” a second agent told the DCNF. “We don’t need a border bill, we need to enforce the laws on the books.”
“Unaccompanied minors and families released, that’s unacceptable. They need to be removed,” the second agent added.
The bill also allocates funding for the construction of a “steel bollard pedestrian barrier” along the southern border but fails to mandate erecting a wall.
A third agent described the bill as “horsesh*t,” in a statement to the DCNF.
A fourth agent described the release of families and certain single adults with credible fear claims as “BS.”
“Another loophole that aliens are going to abuse,” the fourth agent said.
Some “steel bollard pedestrian barrier” images.

The bill builds a border wall, expands deportation flights, expands ICE officers, Border Patrol officers, detention beds. How it creates a faster process for deportation. It’s a start.
It does NOTHING. FFS: every provision on enforcement is if Biden’s handlers give the order…every provision on amnesty is locked in to 2029.
We can read, Casper.
This dog of a bill was just a fig leaf for Ukraine aid, anyway…they hoped they could sucker us with the bogus enforcement aspects so we’d allow more money laundering in Ukraine. But people read the bill. It is right there.
Here is a link to the bill incase you want to read it yourself. The Border part started on page 62.
https://www.appropriations.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/emergency_national_security_supplemental_bill_text.pdf
Did you read it?
As I said, it is mostly about pouring money down the Ukraine rathole…but it does eventually get to the border.
$36 million to pay for lawyers for the illegals…so they can work our legal system to stay in the USA.
$30 million to study illegal immigration; basically a hand out to pro open borders groups to “prove” that mass illegal immigration is great.
$1.4 billion for more shelters for illegals (this isn’t the free hotel rooms).
$260 million for “border security technology”…ie, a slush fund to pay pro open borders groups to develop technology which won’t actually stop anyone from crossing.
$3.2 billion for “increased detention capacity”…which apparently isn’t shelters but I guess they didn’t want to say we’re spending $4.6 billion to build shelters for illegals before they are processed into the interior.
$3.3 billion to hire new bureaucrats to manage the flow of illegals.
On and on it goes like that; one boondoggle of spending after another. Payoffs to cronies and people who will just speed the illegals into the USA.
But in the nuts and bolts, the new asylum officers we’re going to hire will have the authority on their own, no oversight of appeals process, to decide if someone merits protected status…and if the person merits protected status, green card.
The 5,000 a day trigger is controlled by the Administration; they decide if we’ve breached it.
And if anyone complains, the case is heard in DC on a Federal court controlled by Democrats.
And for crying out loud, will you at last think for a moment? We have a very generous asylum program as is. All you have to do is present yourself at legal border crossings and ask. Benefit of the doubt is already given to the person making the claim. There is no need to cross illegally if you have any sort of claim to asylum.
So, ask yourself: WHY ARE THEY CROSSING ILLEGALLY?
Doesn’t that for a moment strike you as odd? Why do that if you’re fleeing crime, war and oppression? Your life is at stake…here is America, the red white and blue proudly flying…just ask. If you’ve got any sort of case to make, you’ll be let in.
Because the asylum claim is bullsh*t. You know it. I know it. They know it. Everyone knows it. They’re being trafficked. They’re slaves. You think that when they get a job at the meat packing plant they get to keep all their pay? Oh, heck no – the Cartel still has their hand out. Remember, even if you hire an illegal you can’t get around the minimum wage laws…that would show up if you were paying them below minimum wage. But they aren’t making minimum wage. None of them are. Where is the rest of the money going, Casper?
Do you even think, ever, about the amount of human suffering you are complicit in just because you won’t go, “hey, nobody is allowed to cross illegally”?
The bill actually makes it harder to claim asylum and provides resources for returning people to their countries. It gives the Border patrol more resources and will allow immigrants to be processed at a much higher rate. It adds resources for stopping the flow of drugs and catching criminals who have already entered the country. it’s endorsed by the Border Patrol Union which endorsed Trump in 2020 and really doesn’t like Biden. It is also bipartisan which is something a lot of voters like. It is far stronger than anything we have now.
Republicans have been clamoring for laws making it harder for immigrants to come into the country and have demanded that the law be bipartisan. This law is a start.
I’m not sure why you are all of a sudden concerned about the border. Less than a year ago, Mayorkas testified in front of Congress that the border was secure. Did you believe him? Can you tell us what happened in the last few months that makes it a crisis now? And please explain why a “border” bill, never closes the border.
Why did Nancy Pelosi deny Trump $4 billion for border security, yet now Democrats say they need twice that? Do you even remember that? If you wanted a secure border, you should have voted for Trump
It doesn’t make it harder to claim asylum. Did you not read it? The asylum officers will have complete discretion in the matter…and they’ll be hired by Team Pudding Brain. What sort of people do you expect them to hire?
All enforcement is contingent upon the Executive deciding to do it.
All amnesty is locked in from day one.
All provisions are set in stone until the end of 2029.
Ah, forget it – the Ruling Class has spoken, Casper hears and obeys.
This bill codifies illegal immigration which is strange because Democrats have been telling us for three years now that the border is secure.
Casper obediently parrots what he has been told.
The bill actually makes it harder to claim asylum and provides resources for returning people to their countries. Where does it do this? There are a lot of words about asylum but nowhere does it point out that asylum is exclusively for people in danger due to persecution in their home countries based on their politics, religion or ethnicity or race. Prior to the Biden Regime, asylum seekers had to apply before they got to the border, and remain in Mexico or another country while their applications were being reviewed. This sent the message that anyone claiming asylum had to have good reasons and documentation of persecution to even bother, as opposed to the Open Borders approach of “walk on in, sit right down and enjoy a year or more of being supported by American dollars while you wait, if you even decide to show up for a hearing”. The biggest thing about the current plan is that it gives people an excuse to come here, knowing that once they are here it will be almost impossible to make them leave.
In other words, with the old way you had to have your evidence in order to even get into the country. Under the Biden way, you just claim to have proof and are trusted to show up, some day, and show that proof—-but i reality you just got in the door and can do whatever you want to now that you are here.
Casper says to read the bill. Okey-dokey.
For an additional amount for ‘‘Executive Office for Immigration Review’’, $440,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2026: Provided, That of the total amounts provided under this heading in this Act, $404,000,000 shall be for Immigration Judge Teams, including appropriate attorneys, law clerks, paralegals, court administrators, and other support staff, as well as necessary court and adjudicatory costs, and $36,000,000
shall be for representation for certain incompetent adults pursuant to section 240(e) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1229a(e)): Provided further, That not more than 3 percent of the funds available for representation for certain incompetent adults in the preceding
proviso shall be available for necessary administrative expenses:
Breaking this down, this says that 404 million dollars shall be available until September 20, 2026, to hire more people ((attorneys, law clerks, paralegals, court administrators, and other support staff) and that 36 million dollars be set aside to pay for MORE lawyers, etc., for “certain incompetent adults” but allowing more than an additional million dollars for “necessary administrative expenses”. In other words, 404 million dollars PLUS another million, more or less, allotted to pay people to do what people are already being paid to do. (This, by the way, would also pad the numbers of “newly created jobs” for Biden to brag about.)
That with the exception of immigration judges appointed pursuant to section 1003.10 of title 8, Code of Federal Regulations, amounts provided
under this heading in this Act for Immigration Judge Teams may not be used to increase the number of permanent positions: Somehow the term “permanent” is not defined or specified. How many federal positions are eliminated once established?
What’s missing here? Well, for starters it never addresses the issue of having millions and millions of new “asylum seekers” who are allowed into the country on a wholly unsubstantiated claim with no supporting evidence, just on a say-so, flooding the system with people who are quite unlikely to ever be able to provide any proof of persecution in their native lands due to their politics, religion, race or ethnicity.
Who is running the laboratories? Because the bill calls for $204,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2026, for expenses related to the analysis of DNA samples including those samples collected from migrants detained by the United States Border Patrol and of ????? as well as another $23,200,000, to remain available until September 30, 2026, to enhance laboratory analysis of illicit fentanyl samples to trace illicit fentanyl supplies back to manufacturers.
Maybe we should see if Hunter or a Pelosi is suddenly investing in laboratories. $227,200,000 for two and a half years to test the DNA of migrants and some unidentified presumably humans and to analyze fentanyl samples to find out where it is made—sounds like a money machine to me.
You gotta love this one:
For an additional amount for ‘‘Office of the Secretary and Executive Management—Operations and Support’’, $33,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2026, of which $30,000,000 shall be for necessary expenses relating to monitoring, recording, analyzing, public reporting on, and projecting migration flows and the impacts policy changes and funding have on flows and related resource requirements for border security, immigration enforcement, and immigration services and of which $3,000,000 shall be for the Office of the Immigration Detention Ombudsman for reporting and oversight relating to expanded detention capacity:
Translation: After essentially inviting people to cross our border illegally, resulting many millions of illegal aliens scattered around the country, and subsidizing them with housing, food, health care, education for their children, cell phones and prepaid credit cards, we now need $30,000,000 to study the effects of this policy. Oh, and some of it can be spent on ‘related resource requirements for border security, immigration enforcement, and immigration services” although these are also addressed in other allotments of our tax money.
How about sending out questionnaires to governors and mayors asking them about the impacts of illegal aliens on their communities, and how about a quick Treasury audit to see how many dollars we have handed out? Just for starters, of course. I’m pretty sure we could do that for a little less than thirty million dollars. “Migration flows” can be predicted to a great degree by a combination of closing the border and starting deportation of every single person here without prior documented authority to enter the country. What this statement blithely ignores is that LEGAL “migration flows” should be one-way, out of the country.
Then we get into the Big Bucks:
For an additional amount for ‘‘U.S. Customs and Border Protection—Operations and Support’’, $6,008,479,000 (that is, for people in Rio Linda and for Casper, SIX BILLION EIGHT AND A HALF MILLION DOLLARS) to remain available until September 30,
9 2026: Provided, That of the total amount provided under this heading in this Act, $3,860,363,000 shall be for operational requirements relating to migration surges along the southwest border, counter-fentanyl activities, necessary expenses at ports of entry, reimbursement to the Department of Defense for border operations support, and other related expenses, of which $3,148,262,000 shall remain available until September 30, 2024; $584,116,000 shall be for the hiring of U.S. Customs and Border Protection personnel; $139,000,000 shall be for overtime costs for U.S. Border
Patrol; $25,000,000 shall be for familial DNA testing; and $1,400,000,000 shall be transferred to ‘‘Federal Emergency Management Agency—Federal Assistance’’ to support sheltering and related activities provided by non-Federal entities through the Shelter and Services Program:
$3,860,363,000 shall be for operational requirements relating to migration surges along the southwest border Funny how most if not all of these “migration surges along the southwest border” would stop if the border were secured with a wall and/or other barriers and anyone caught crossing would be immediately returned to Mexico. Too obvious? Clearly. Notice that not one penny of this nearly FOUR BILLION DOLLARS is designated for any such barrier/return program. There is a nod to unspecified “counter-fentanyl activities” and another to vague and unspecified “expenses at ports of entry” and some money allotted here for “reimbursement to the Department of Defense for “border operations support, and other related expenses” though requirements for border security, immigration enforcement are also part of that $30,000,000 outlined in Title II line 12. So you get a few million here, you get a few million there, but who’s doing the math?
Actually, there IS no “math” as the set-asides for actual border enforcement often seem to be, for some reason, unspecified and just part of a general figure, of which SOME can be used for “border operations support, and other related expenses” .
Then the bill allows for “$584,116,000 shall be for the hiring of U.S. Customs and Border Protection personnel; $139,000,000 shall be for overtime costs for U.S. Border Patrol”. $139,000,000 sounds like a lot for overtime. I’d like to see that supported and then audited.
$25,000,000 shall be for familial DNA testing Uh, didn’t we just cover that on Page 64, lines 14-18? I even cited it half an hour ago: Who is running the laboratories? Because the bill calls for $204,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2026, for expenses related to the analysis of DNA samples including those samples collected from migrants detained by the United States Border Patrol and of ????? as well as another $23,200,000, to remain available until September 30, 2026, to enhance laboratory analysis of illicit fentanyl samples to trace illicit fentanyl supplies back to manufacturers. $204 million for DNA testing of migrants plus another $25 million for more (?) DNA testing of migrants–who knew DNA testing was such a lucrative field?
And then we get nearly ONE AND A HALF BILLION DOLLARS for sheltering and related activities provided by non-Federal entities through the Shelter and Services Program
So this fancy-shmancy bill that allegedly addresses the open border crisis is really just a way to shuffle a few billion dollars into programs to pay people to do things that may or may not be important but at highly inflated costs, while overtly subsidizing the problem with billions of dollars for shelter and for legal assistance, in addition to the billions of dollars being poured into these subsidies through other programs not included in this bill.
Here’s my suggested bill, with figures obviously a matter of pure guesswork (making me, no doubt, qualified to write official Congressional bills)
A billion dollars to build barriers along our southern border.
A billion dollars to establish a registration program for illegals who have been here at least five years, have not been arrested and have been employed and paying taxes–this would mean being fingerprinted, having retinal scans done, and then qualifying for PROVISIONAL visas while being investigated for permanent residency
A billion dollars for rounding up and returning anyone who crossed illegally in the past five years, paying for apprehension and plane tickets back across the border.
How to pay for these programs:
Stop all federal money going to states and cities which are declared to be “sanctuary cities” and thereby violating federal laws
Stop all subsidizing of the lives of illegals, aside from organized soup kitchen type feeding while they are waiting for their flights home
Enact a bill that guts the IRS by implementing a Fair Tax, which is a consumption tax ONLY, releasing hundreds of thousands of
GestapoIRS agents to deal with the backlog of immigration paperwork. (The IRS FY 2023 budget request is $14.1 billion, $2.2 billion (18.3 percent) more than the FY 2022 annualized continuing resolution level of $11.92 billion. )Just found out that one of the provisions of the bill is that people who aren’t from Mexico or Canada aren’t counted towards the 5,000. Seriously, it is right in there: encounters with people from nations not contiguous with the USA don’t count. In other words, the actual problem DOESN’T COUNT.
Not surprised you guys don’t like the bill. Frankly, I would have been shocked if you had. That said, it took a bipartisan effort over several months to come up with this particular bill and includes a number of things conservatives have been asking for for years. If Conservatives are really serious about border security, they should at least consider the bill. Part of the process is negotiating to get the best deal each side wants and rejecting the bill outright takes away any high ground Republicans might have had on border security. Biden can now say that any problems at the border are on Republicans now.
One squish Liberal “Republican” who no longer supports the bill is all it takes for the Sillies to claim this hot mess is “bipartisan”. It tosses in a nugget here and there that superficially resembles something serious and then sends its media minions out to tell the puppets what to think and what to say about it. Hence Casper suddenly driven to repeatedly post about its super duper marvy peachy keen special attributes.
This is one of my favorite “defenses” of the bill: DHS could close the border if Border Patrol encountered 4,000 or more migrants on average over seven days Really? Now DHS has the ability to “close the border”? Then why in hell hasn’t it CLOSED THE BORDER? How often have we been told it’s not possible to close the border? How often have we been told that there is no way to close the border? And now Nothing But Crap is telling us that yes, it can be done, and what’s more can be done any day that DHS decides enough people have come into the country.
This is the kind of vapid nonsense that impressed the heck out of vapid absorbers of whatever the Left chooses to feed them. That is, the caspers of the country. Casper would never think “Hmmm. How would they do this?” No, Casper would just waddle over to his computer and type out a post ‘splaining to us how wonderful this bill is because it would only allow 28,000 (OR MORE) “migrants” to cross in a week and then, by golly, they would just CLOSE THE BORDER! Is that a cumulative figure for the whole border, or for every border crossing? Does it include river crossers and fence climbers and desert hikers? Does it include people dropped off on San Diego beaches by boats?
It gives the Right NOTHING.
As I’ve said – repeatedly – all enforcement is dependent upon Biden’s puppet masters giving the order, which won’t be given. He could have the border secured tomorrow if he just gives the order. What makes you think we’re stupid enough to believe that he’ll issue the order after we’ve just legalized the millions he’s allowed in since 2021?
And now we find out that the 5,000 only includes citizens of Mexico and Canada. If you’re from any other nation, you don’t count towards the 5,000 trigger.
Here’s the funny thing: the Left probably wants to keep Mexicans out. Mexicans are our close neighbors. Americans and Mexicans know each other and largely respect each other. And Mexicans and their immediate descendants in the USA are shifting Right. But guys from Columbia? Not so much; aliens who have nothing but contempt for the USA and will do anything asked to get in and stay in.
Ask most Mexicans what they think of abortion. Ask them if they think men can become women. Ask them how they feel about socialist dictators. Ask them how they feel about disrespecting God and religion. Ask them how they feel about family.
I was talking with some people from South America not long ago—young college-educated—who thought I was putting them on when I told them any female of any age can get an abortion in the United States at any time, and many want the government to pay for it. When they realized I was telling them the truth they were horrified. And two of them had families that were forced to flee Leftist dictators to save their lives, after having their homes and businesses taken over. So the idea that “refugees” from south of the border will fall in line with Leftist policies might be a fantasy. Voting for free stuff, maybe—up to a point.
The thing is, the president does not have the authority to actually legalize anyone. He can sign his Executive Orders that don’t really legalize anyone, just stop enforcing the law, which has the practical effect of legalizing but doesn’t really do anything permanent.
And visas can be canceled. I may have missed it, but I thought the legalizing of these millions of illegal aliens was in the form of temporary visas pending adjudication. Give us a few months and it may all be moot, because so far anyway there has been no real legislation legalizing illegal aliens, just a lot of manipulating of definitions and shell games of legal actions.
As far as “securing the border tomorrow” it might take a while to install those majorly serious barriers of steel bollard pedestrian slower-downers.
Casper, the country is in the mess solely because of the decisions of Joe Biden, which he can reverse any time he wants. He doesn’t need any new laws to secure the border, and more importantly, what makes anyone think he would enforce new laws when he doesn’t enforce the existing ones? Additionally he could simply follow the lead of Greg Abbott in Texas who, without any help from Congress, has shut down illegal crossings at Eagle Pass. This bill codifies illegal immigration and continues to fund the money laundering operation in Ukraine.
And I’ll remind you again, just last Fall, Mayorkas told Congress that the border was secure, so really there’s no need to do anything.
“And I’ll remind you again, just last Fall, Mayorkas told Congress that the border was secure, so really there’s no need to do anything.”
And apparently Republicans agree with him as they don’t want to do anything to help secure the border. BTW, Republicans are the ones who wanted to include funding for the Ukraine in this deal.
Meanwhile Abbott is spending millions of dollars defending a few miles of border from unarmed refugees.
So now a criterion for stopping illegal entry is whether or not the people trying to break our laws are armed? And who knows if they are armed or not? Who invented this silly theme? We can see that Silly Casper is regurgitating it, but who came up with it and thought it made so much sense it should be quoted?
And “refugees” from what? From persecution for political beliefs, religion, ethnicity or race? No, little meat puppet, one is not a “refugee” if he decides he wants to live in another country and comes up with ten thousand dollars to pay someone to sneak him in.
I should write a sci-fi movie in which no words could be redefined. Of course, that would mean that there were no Liberals. You people live on invented definitions that support your fantasies.
Anyone who claims “Republicans don’t want to do anything to secure the border” is admitting to levels of stupidity and delusion that are truly astounding. Life is too short to get sucked into the unending vortex of explaining to Casper how wrong he is and how he is wrong.
BTW, Republicans are the ones who wanted to include funding for the Ukraine in this deal.
To say this implies that there are Republicans who support the bill. Who?
“So now a criterion for stopping illegal entry is whether or not the people trying to break our laws are armed?”
Did I say any of them are armed or that was a criteria. Haven’t seen a lot of stories of armed refugees coming across the border so I’m assuming most of them aren’t. I also have read that most of them have claimed refugee status.
You sneered about the effort to stop “unarmed refugees”. So don’t start sniveling when someone points out how stupid that comment is. It sounded as if you thought only armed illegals should be stopped.
As for being “refugees” of course they IDENTIFY as “refugees”—why not, after learning that this is the magic word that means free food, free housing, free phones, free everything, with at least a year and probably more to just hang out and suck up the goodies? “Refugee” from what?
When we see tens/hundreds of thousands of obviously well-fed, clean, well-dressed people who have paid tens of thousands of dollars to cartels to get to and across the border it’s hard to tell just what dangers they are fleeing. It doesn’t appear to be abject poverty. As usual, the Left trivializes once-important words for political purposes. And as most of these “refugees” are young able-bodied men of military age it looks like the conditions they are fleeing must not be too bad, too dangerous, if they left families behind.
If you were only gullible it might not be so bad, but you put a lot of effort into buying into every cockamamie story and lie fed to you by your Leftist masters and it’s quite annoying because then you rush over here to vomit it up on the blog.
“or that was a criteria”
Hey, Mr. Teacher-man so smug in your assumed superior education and intellect—it’s not “A criteria”. Criteria is the plural of criterion. Just as “media” is the plural of “medium” though now everyone uses the plural form as if it were singular, another example of the dumbing down of America.
“You sneered about the effort to stop “unarmed refugees”. So don’t start sniveling when someone points out how stupid that comment is. It sounded as if you thought only armed illegals should be stopped.”
Actually, I was sneering at the fact that Abbott is spending millions of dollars having troops defend a few miles of border, which is obviously a political stunt.
I think we all can agree that something needs to done at the border. It’s also obvious that neither party has the votes to push their own bill through. it will take a combined effort to get something done.
Abbott is the governor of Texas.
Abbott is keeping illegals from crossing the border into Texas.
Abbott is doing his job.
Now enforcing federal law is just a “political stunt”—actually, to a Lefty it probably is—but refusing to enforce that law is NOT a “political stunt”?
How many millions of dollars is it costing to keep those people from crossing? How do you know? Why do you care? Oh, that’s right—you are told it matters.
It’s also obvious that neither party has the votes (IN CONGRESS) to push their own bill through
Let’s just see how the Dems treat a Republican bill, and why.
“Let’s just see how the Dems treat a Republican bill, and why.”
The current bill is bipartisan. If Republicans want to put through a bill they will have to work with Democrats.
I’ve addressed the “bipartisan” claim. It takes more than one or two squishes to make something “bipartisan” but the narrative seems to depend on the constant regurgitation of that word.
Republicans rejected the bill on its merits, or rather lack of same. My prediction is that Dems will reject anything Republicans come up with because it came from Republicans. Same old same old Identity Politics.
And here’s another question for you Cap. Why should Americans trust Biden to enforce new laws, when he doesn’t enforce existing laws?
Rest in peace Toby Keith.
Great singer/songwriter … sad news today
This is the kind of dialogue I encourage because I think it will often have the same kind of outcome. When I see a reasonable-appearing Democrat I always wish I could visit with this person to ask a few questions:
It is interesting because I had a similar experience on my flight back to Florida Sunday night. My seatmate asked what I think of Ron DeSantis and I replied that I love him. She doesn’t. As the four hour conversation went on, she asked me questions and I answered them and she repeatedly said she appreciated the fact that I did, and that she was learning a lot. We ended up exchanging contact info and talking about getting together with her and some of her friends to talk more about politics. She was particularly drawn to the concept of discussing different political structures and the best format for addressing issues instead of arguing about the issues themselves.
It can be done. My transition ( though I am coming to hate that word, another good word hijacked by the Left) from Unexamined Liberal to Hardcore Conservative began with evaluation of my positions, and gentle nudging off those convictions just enough to encourage evaluating them can result in changes.
I think we need to teach all Democrats how to think again. They have been subject to years of propaganda and they’ve simply lost the ability and courage to have their own opinion.
Here you run into the “Cause or Effect” conundrum; Does being a Democrat make you stupid, or do you have to be stupid to become a Democrat?
(Hint: The two are not mutually exclusive)
OTOH, the brilliant Democrat mayor of NYC has figured out how to deal with looting. (OK, now they call it “shoplifting”, like when a teen aged girl lifts a lipstick from the cosmetic counter.)
Anyway, after a rather hilariously failed robot cop experiment and a huge PR effort to extoll the exciting “new” garbage truck pickup system that has been used for years all over the country he was on the spot to come up with something less—-ridiculous. But instead he had this:
Maybe they could have people with clipboards follow looters to their cars and while they are offloading steaks and TV sets into the trunks they could be asked “How does this make you FEEL?”
There may be a silver lining in this rag of a bill: It may be the death knell of McConnell as Senate Minority Leader.
He won’t be GOP Leader come January, if not sooner.
Another win … Ronna McDaniel is stepping down
I see Casper still refuses to engage his brain and simply deflects. Instead of wondering why Biden and Mayorkas lied to the America people for three and half years, he blames Republicans. Instead of wondering why existing laws are not enforced, he blames Republicans for not passing new ones. Instead of applauding Abbott for protecting American citizens (many of them POC’s) in Eagle Pass, TX, he calls it a political stunt.
Biden owns this border disaster and he will continue to own it until American voters have their say in November.
I will expand a little on your comment and say Biden and Biden supporters own this border disaster. Some are finding that reality doesn’t taste as good as that first sweet rush of perceived virtue at parroting the “just want a better life” theme.
Every Lib who refused to lock the border because these people deserve a chance to have a better life still goes through his life locking his car even though a lot of people deserve a better ride and, locking his house in spite of all the people who deserve a better place to live. They always blithely assumed that the problems would be dealt with with OPM.
Its a hive mind and he won’t get out of it – he is Legion! Its why Biden still enjoys 35-40 percent approval in the polls. These people will not think.
Whats really kinda sad is that they don’t realize they are hated as much as we are. They don’t sit back and go, “hey, I’ve been a good liberal all my life. I vote Democrat, I shout my abortion, Diversity is our Strength. So, why are the Democrats I voted for simply unleashing criminals in my neighborhood and why can’t the schools at least produce basic literacy?”. They don’t do that because to ask the question is to immediately realize that it is done on purpose…that no matter how much you say Black Lives Matter, you are still a despised, evil American who has to be destroyed. They don’t want to face up to that…and the primary reason they don’t want to face up to it is because they’d have to admit to us that they were wrong. That the actually caring, kind people are the MAGA folks.
“Hive mind” is an accurate term. The other day I followed an X comment and found myself in the middle of such a hive. Some guy wrote this passionate post extolling the marvelous, wonderful, nearly miraculous economic successes of Regime Biden–unemployment, Dow, etc.—and bemoaning the ignorance of those who simply do not understand it. There were a couple of comments with some of the same content, but a flurry of a couple dozen posts saying “corporate greed”. Some just said “corporate greed”, some said something to the effect of “it’s always about corporate greed” but the echo chamber was in full throat.
When someone posted some facts about the economy, the reality of the unemployment figures and so on, there were a couple of instant “Trump cult” snarls and then it was right back to another round of “corporate greed”. The comment didn’t even really relate to any of the posts, but the pressure inside these people to express their seething resentment or rage without the ability to go beyond parroting some phrase that seemed, somehow, to be profound, drove them to squirt it out into the blog. Any mention of finance in any form seems to trigger that single knee-jerk yet meaningless phrase in the hive.
…their immediate need is to flood the zone for federal aid distribution and Congressional district redrawing purposes.
See, thanks to Democrats, immigrants count in the census, and their status – either being here illegally or legally – has no impact on what our government does with those numbers. Federal aid to cities and states is disbursed by population, not citizen population, so more illegals means more money; it means states get to gerrymander differently to protect Democrat congressional seats. These people are evil, not stupid.
This bill is an embarrassment to anyone interested in securing our border.
A bill without any deportation is unacceptable, in fact, only a bill with only deportation and massive fines for anyone who hires them before they’re found is all we’ll accept. The only funding should be for 100,000 (temporary, but for as long as it takes) deputy ICE agents to identify illegals to ICE itself and for flights out of the country. Where they want to go does not matter, just out of here. Let where they land deal with the rest.
It also needs to eliminate funding for any state that allows illegals to collect any welfare benefits that receive federal tax dollars. States can do what they want with their money, they don’t get the same ability with federal money.
And end birthright citizenship, period. It was never meant to be that way and everyone knows it, kill it now and forever.
Washington, DC, can choke on this bill. In fact, they can choke on every bill. Any and all patience or caring about illegal immigrants is gone, the American people are sick of it and all they lying about it. Get the illegals out, or get the politicians who enable it or who are even slightly soft on it, out.
While Libs like Casper are obediently parroting the narratives spoon-fed to them, complete with constant repetition of the buzzword “bipartisan”, a lot of Republicans are peeling away the layers of the Dem onion to get the core of the whole Open Borders mess.
It is a simple strategy: Get a court ruling that during a census everyone is counted, not just citizens. Then open the borders and make sure there is a lot of international publicity about how easy it is to cross without documentation and all the goodies awaiting those who do. Work with drug cartels if necessary. Fund NGOs to pay for transportation to the border. Get as many million people into the country as possible. so at the next census the numbers will call for additional House members to be elected from districts with population numbers padded with those illegal aliens.
During this period, work to make it possible for these non-citizens to vote, legally or not, counting on them voting for continuation of the Goodie Wagon that has been giving them fancy hotel rooms, food, cell phones and even cash as thank yous for taking their bait and paying cartel thugs to transport them here.
While waiting for the census, these imported agents of Leftist destruction of our Constitutional system will be enacting the Cloward and Pivens strategy for undermining that system.
If we see every illegal alien as a bullet fired from a political machine gun at our Constitutional government, it all makes more sense
We have spoken at length about the Uni Party here, so this is just another example of Casper not engaging his brain. Bi Partisan now simply means the Uni Party agrees with it, so any attempt to hang that on MAGA just misses the mark. Fact is, MAGA is the independent third party a lot of Americans have been waiting for and a lot of Americans are seeing that now.
All the LIV needs to babble “bipartisan” is a couple of squishes from the Other Side.
In the House, for example, we have Ken Buck. He is from a rural constituency in NE Colorado, a strong conservative/Trump-supporting area. When he finally came out of the TDS closet and sided with much-hated Liz Cheney, his constituency let him know how they felt about it. After all, they elected him to represent them, not use his position to enact his animosity toward Trump, much less try to help rig the next election to keep him off the ticket. His response has been to indulge in a long and nasty spiteful “up yours” to the people who voted for him, as he has tried to sabotage every single Republican measure and effort ever since. He isn’t running for reelection (showing his only indication of common sense) so he is free to be a total ass, giving the finger to Republicans in general for not going over to the Dark Side with him. It’s been an ugly two-year temper tantrum but that tarnished and no longer relevant “R” pin on his lapel lets people like Casper claim he represents real Republicans.
And then the Casper-types point at Ken Buck as an example of “bipartisanship” though his sudden flip to Left-support is really wholly partisan.
This is what you get when your “politics” are so shallow and superficial that they depend on personality instead of objective analysis of the best political system for governing the country. That describes Buck and most if not all Dems.
I think we underestimate the power of the Uni Party and their donor class, which makes me even prouder of those who eschew the lure of money and entitlements. I’m thinking of Sen. Hawley, Sen. Kennedy, Sen. Cruz, Elise Stefanik, etc. It’s easy to see those who represent their constituents and those who represent the Uni Party
The immigration bill was initiated by Republican leadership in the Senate and both Republicans and Democrats had a hand in writing the bill over a period of months. A number of the sections in the bill were put in at the request of the Republicans working on the bill.
Yes, we know. But just because Republicans had a hand in it doesn’t mean it had anything Republican in it. Latest word is that Lankford was just McConnell’s front man and his people wrote the GOP parts of the bill. As Mitch is very much beholden to Chamber of Commerce interests, that does make a lot of sense…the bill is a CofC dream come true…essentially unlimited illegal immigration with the illegals immediately provided work permits.
You’d think you on the Left would see that as a means of crushing American wages – especially the wages of poorer Americans – but I guess destroying America is more important than looking after the poor.
You just keep clinging to that “bipartisan” meme that seems to be so important to you.
I concede that during the whole process some Republicans probably tried to work on creating a decent bill. That is a very far cry from accepting this one. I know, that is a very complicated distinction for someone like you, and it also contradicts the narrative that you cherish, but then so much of reality is like that.
Why are you are a liar. You know very well non-citizens are counted in the census, so no need for a judicial ruling.. You can delete this so the rest of the dipshits here don’t see it, but you know you are a liar.
What a snarly peevish little troll you are. Liar? Hardly. Just better-informed—though with you that is a very low bar.
There are other court rulings on the issue as well. The counting of non-citizens has repeatedly been challenged, and each challenge has resulted in a judicial ruling. duh.
Sadly, Casper is just one of many who are so foolish, so blinded by Identity Politics, that they routinely expose their lack of a grasp of reality. Here are a few comments from one X thread on Biden’s incoherence:
These people actually believe that the only reason he “sometimes” appears incoherent is because Bad People selectively choose unflattering video clips to show. Of course that doesn’t address the lies, but then Trump has lied so……
“role model for kids throughout the country”? Oh dear Lord pray it isn’t so.

To restate this: Economic reasons are supposedly insufficient to be awarded entry into the U.S.
Economic reasons do not constitute grounds for requesting asylum.
