Debate Night Open Thread

I admit to having a sense of dread about the debate. Been gnawing at me all week. After thinking it over, I realized why: the concept of seeing and hearing Biden for 90 minutes utterly disgusts me. He is such a thoroughly bad man and such an egregious liar. The thought that he was installed into office is an outrage against all decency.

Like many, I do think it was a mistake for Trump to agree to a debate on such unfriendly grounds. Rely on it, both Biden and CNN will be working from a script they’ve both had for the past week. The questions are known. The signals for where the moderators should jump in to help. Plans already in place to cut away from Biden if he glitches out. If they need Trump’s microphone to “malfunction” it is all set up. The questions will be dishonest and all designed to work against Trump no matter what direction he goes. It is a mistake because it allows liars a platform to lie to the American people.

But, it is what it is. Trump wanted this. Presumably he’s got a plan here. Hope it works!

I doubt, though, that the debate will move the needle much either way. Don’t get me wrong, the MSM already had instant and other polls ready to show a Biden bounce. Regardless of how Biden does, they will straight face announce that all questions of his physical and mental capacity has been answered by his vigorous and scrappy debate performance (and I mean this literally: Biden could pee himself on stage and these pre-set talking points will be used). Meanwhile, Trump will be Trump: the good and the bad. He’s not a very good debater. Biden allegedly is but that is only because the MSM lies for him – he’s actually a quite stupid man who tells the most fabulous lies. But it is up to Trump to make some lemonade here – to place a garnish on the poop sandwich. We’ll see if he’s able to do it.

Whatever the talking points and polling shows, observe the iron-clad Ten Day Rule when dealing with Trump. If in ten days polling is roughly where it is now, then the debate did nothing. My bet is that it’ll be roughly where it is now. And this is especially true if Trump does very well – the better he does, in fact, the more the MSM will cook the polling books to show otherwise. The very last thing the DNC will let the MSM do is show Trump pulling away. As I’ve mentioned before, if in October the reality is Trump heading for a Reaganesque win, the stats will still show it close – perhaps even a Biden lead. This election will be decided by the voters…and it all hangs on whether or not Trump can, as he has before, bring to the polls people who don’t normally show up. If he does, he wins. It is as simple as that. What the Establishment will be doing is trying to drive down turnout…to make it appear as if Biden has this in the bag so don’t bother.

One thing: they might hop Biden up on drugs so much he gets all shouty. That would be a catastrophe for him. Worse than him glitching out for a minute or two. Nobody likes to see old men shouting. It is cringe.

UPDATE: Good, lord that was terrible! I knew Biden was senile and physically decayed but I didn’t realize how badly until tonight! Is this guy even going to be alive in November?

Trump kept pretty solidly to message discipline – the muting of the microphone may have unintentionally helped in here. He was still able to get his Trumpist digs in but he wasn’t able to fly off on weird tangents as he’s prone to do at times. He landed several very telling blows on Biden’s record. As for Biden? His few coherent statements were just lies.

If I were Trump, I would ignore every single question from the moderators, which you know will be loaded, and I would politely say, thank you for the question but I want to talk to the American people about this … and use the entire time to address important issues and what he would do. Also, Trump can not take the bait of being called a convicted felon and insurrectionist. Just ignore all of them. The three other people in the room are completely unimportant. It’s the American people who are are the only worthy audience.

That is actually a pretty darned good idea.

Twenty minutes in – hoooooolllly shit – hand Biden a shovel.

    • Amazona June 27, 2024 / 9:26 pm

I know. I’d be embarrassed for him if I didn’t loathe him so much. This is really a hoot.

      • Amazona June 27, 2024 / 10:49 pm

It’s always easier to think of things from home, but when Biden was carrying on about Trump’s alleged affairs and called him an “alleycat” it would have been fun to come back with “are you pretending you weren’t having an affair with your children’s married babysitter? And what about the woman who made a credible accusation that you raped her, who was so persecuted by your own administration that she had to go to RUSSIA and ask for political asylum? Has any other American sought political asylum in Russia because the United States was acting like the old USSR?”

      • Amazona June 27, 2024 / 11:02 pm

Of course, this would have ended, in my dream response, with “At least the women I was accused of fooling around with were adults, not little girls getting groped and having their hair sniffed. Or my daughter.”

    • Amazona June 27, 2024 / 10:00 pm

He’s 1/3 of the way through and I haven’t seen a single win for him except for the hard-core radicals who slurp up the lies, the more blatant the better. But even the lies are not delivered well. Biden is pumped up enough to stand but looks weak and slurs his words and every now and then gets incoherent again but I think his script was written by Joe Scarborough

      • Mark Noonan June 27, 2024 / 10:50 pm

Left X is melting down right now…furious with Tapper and Bash for not “fact checking” Trump.

That tells us all we need to know about how it went.

      • Amazona June 27, 2024 / 10:54 pm

Town Hall did a good live blog on the debate. And the last thing Dems want is fact checking Biden. He actually confirmed the old saying that you can tell when he’s lying because his lips move.

The thing is, we know he was prepped, so his team either thought it was a good strategy to go from one blatant lie to another, all of them either already debunked or easily researched, or he just went out on his own to wing it because lying is his wheelhouse.

  3. Amazona June 27, 2024 / 9:25 pm

Within five minutes Joe started to fall apart, and told his first lie. Between lies and simple misunderstanding of the Constitution he hasn’t been right yet. He’s now babbling about Roe and trimesters which he has hilariously mangled. But Trump is getting sucked into that. There is no reason to argue Roe but this is Biden’s argument. He is very much against state sovereignty. Trump is calm and collected and more focused than usual, but Joe has already had a brain freeze where he had to abandon a thought, and his voice sounds awful.

OMG Joe just went to “babies in cages”. Trump started his rebuttal with “I don’t even know what he said there at the end of his sentence and I don’t think he does either”.

  4. Amazona June 27, 2024 / 9:31 pm

I hope there is a transcript because there is no way to keep up with the insanity of Biden’s mumblings and bizarre stories. He just said (I think) that only three murders have been attributed to illegals. Oooh! he just said everything Trump said about veterans was a lie and then he cited the lie that Trump said the fallen in the cemetery were “suckers and losers” and Trump nailed him on it. He’s really getting under Joe’s thin skin, and it’s funny.

    • Amazona June 27, 2024 / 9:54 pm

So far Bash and Tapper are behaving themselves, though Tapper is hitting January 6. But Trump is not doing a good job with it. Joe just pulled a casper with “convicted felon”. Joe just tried to drag in the claims of Trump having affairs, and I wish Trump had pointed out that the woman who accused Joe of rape has been so persecuted by the Biden administration that she has had to flee to Russia and ask for political asylum. He just dragged out the lie about “very fine people” with lots of embellishments.

I wonder why the Dems thought it would be a good idea to make a big deal out of Nazis chanting anti semitic slogans to attack Trump now that his own party has become the American Nazi Party.

  5. Cluster June 27, 2024 / 10:23 pm

I think Tapper and Bash did a good job. Biden is monotone and his thoughts drift. Trump is doing well but he got too wrapped up in previous dialogue towards the end and wasn’t answering the questions. Biden has clearly shown me he can not finish another 4 year term.

    • Retired Spook June 27, 2024 / 10:35 pm

Given who was asking them, I thought the questions were pretty fair, kind of surprising actually.

      • Mark Noonan June 27, 2024 / 10:49 pm

Agreed – they played it 75% straight; the questions were still obviously designed to allow Biden to give good answers…and it is very likely that he was rehearsed prior…but he’s just so senile he couldn’t even make a half good showing.

  6. Retired Spook June 27, 2024 / 10:41 pm

It was tough to watch. If I didn’t think so little of Joe Biden, I would be embarrassed for him.

    • Mark Noonan June 27, 2024 / 10:48 pm

I admit to feeling a little sympathy – it is cruel what Jill and staff are doing to this clown.

      • Amazona June 27, 2024 / 10:56 pm

I feel none, because this desiccated old weasel is as mean as a rattlesnake. If there was a hint of decency about him it might be a little different, but he is truly a vile creature. Trump actually came across as likable.

      • Mark Noonan June 28, 2024 / 9:18 am

I do wonder who in Team Pudding Brain thought this would be a good idea? They’re with him all the time – they know even better than we do what his condition is. How did anyone close to him think this guy would come across as remotely Presidential?

    • Cluster June 28, 2024 / 9:11 am

      I feel none

      LMAO me too !!!

  7. Retired Spook June 27, 2024 / 10:49 pm

If there was any doubt why the Dems wanted this debate BEFORE the convention, that’s been pretty well laid to rest.

    • Amazona June 27, 2024 / 11:47 pm

I doubt it will be a Trump versus Biden race. I think now the only two questions are what will they do with Kamala and who will they run for the presidency?

    • Cluster June 28, 2024 / 9:17 am

I hope the RNC points out that Biden’s ability is just another thing Democrats have been lying to the American people about, and if they have lied about that, what else have they lied about?

      • Mark Noonan June 28, 2024 / 9:20 am

It is a catastrophe for them on every level.

I mean, I guess I still have to say there’s a chance Biden can win…but do any of us really think that will happen now? That something will happen to make us go, “sure, he’s obviously mentally incompetent but I just can’t go Trump?” This will start to infect downballot as well. And I don’t think they can swap him out this late. He’d have to die.

Which is why I think we’re now entering a time of maximum physical danger for both men.

      • Amazona June 28, 2024 / 9:54 am

I guess I still have to say there’s a chance Biden can win

I would have to rephrase that to “I guess I still have to say there’s a chance Biden can be put back in the White House” because there is a big difference between that and actually “winning”—as we saw four years ago

      • Cluster June 28, 2024 / 10:17 am

Should Democrats now be required to apologize to Robert Hur? Remember how they eviscerated him for no reason, which we know now. How about apologizing to Brett Kavanaugh, which they still haven’t done.

The good news is … we are watching the final moments of a dying identity political party who put power and personal agendas ahead of the American people. Much like the GOP did in the 90’s.

      • Amazona June 28, 2024 / 11:03 am

I’ve been complaining for years that the Republican party was committing slow suicide by demanding of its membership that they have commitments to rigid ideologies that had far less to do with actual governance and more to do with social issues. I’ve been insisting that the GOP return to its old identity of being the Big Tent party where everyone who shares our concept of the best way to govern the nation is welcome even if we don’t all share the same beliefs about social and cultural issues.

Now we’re seeing the Democrat Party going down that same self-destructive road but the beliefs that It demands are far more radical and isolating, and it is far more dogmatic in demanding absolute fealty to its social and cultural issues. I think it’s probably going to continue. to keep contracting in on itself as more people are excluded because they simply don’t share those radical and too often disturbing beliefs. And it has depended almost exclusively on propaganda, on keeping people in line by swamping them with media representations of its alleged superiority and the evils of the other side. The problem with that is that at some point it’s inevitable that the lies will become evident as lies, and that’s when the whole system starts to collapse.

I’ve often referred to my conviction that the bulk of what passes for Democrat ideology is really nothing more than a blind hatred of an Invented Other, a fictional creation which embodies all that is evil and which is presented to Democrats as a “typical Republican”, and that’s pretty effective for a while. We’ve all noticed, I’m sure—- I know I’ve commented on it countless times—- that what passes for Democrat ideology never includes any actual political ideology but consists wholly of emotion-based hatred and fear of an entity that has been Invented. The problem with this is that it is so vulnerable to reality When the propaganda is compared to reality, as it inevitably will be, the foundation of allegiance to the party is weakened and eventually shattered.

We might be watching this happen now to the Democrat Party, prompted by the fact that so many were encouraged to watch the debate last night, convinced that it would validate all of their perceptions and beliefs about both Joe Biden and Donald Trump, only to have the opposite occur.

I hope the Republican Party learns from this and starts focusing more on the nuts and bolts of the best way to govern the nation and less on Insisting that we all share the same cultural and social “values”. Although Trump did not articulate it in so many words, his core message was about the best way to govern the country and nearly devoid of dependence on cultural and social issues, and I think that more than anything else is what will start to resonate among people who have been resistant to Trump as a person without considering the outcome of specific political ideologies.

Tonight I realized that there’s a very good chance that we’re going to have a few months of a President Harris. They’ll have to convince her not to run as the incumbent president in exchange for getting to play president for 4 or 5 months but I think after tonight the Dems are going to have a hard time even trying to keep Biden in office till the election. Face it, most of us who have commented on the little old man shuffle and the freezing and the staring off into space and having to be led off the stage are people who see this on conservative news sites. Tonight a lot more people got to see it. He wasn’t even as bad as he usually is and it’s still freaking people out.

I think they will probably have to give Harris some time in the Oval Office to keep her happy and bring in somebody else as the vice president who can then be at the top of the ticket while she goes back to California. Maybe she and Gruesome can trade places and she could be the new governor. Whatever happens I think tonight really shook up a lot of Dems and surprised very few on the Right. We’re all sitting here going “Yeah, that’s what we’ve been talking about!”

But Joe won’t withdraw and the Dems won’t kick him out. There’s going to be some excuse like he had a stroke or a heart attack as a result of the stress from the way mean Donald Trump treated him or some such nonsense. It’s going to be something like “Joe Biden was so strong and vibrant and on top of his game until this bad thing happened to him” so he could go out as a hero and a martyr. Then we can see how hard Kammy has dug in, while Hillary is clawing at the windows begging to be let in.

I see a distinct lack of Casper.

    • Amazona June 28, 2024 / 9:54 am

For a while. And then the voices in his head will take over again

    • Retired Spook June 29, 2024 / 8:33 am

Or, it’s entirely possible that the people who give Casper his marching orders have seen the handwriting on the wall and realize they can no longer defend the cadaver that we saw on stage Thursday night. Kind of a tough position to be in to realize that the lies have finally caught up with you. It’s one thing to admit when you’ve been wrong about something. It’s an entirely different story when you have to admit that you’ve been lying about something for 3 years. It takes a pretty big person to do so, and most Democrats are not BIG people

      • Amazona June 29, 2024 / 10:06 am

I think you’ve got a pretty good point there. Casper seems to check in with his choice of sources onwhat to think so he can obediently trot out here to parrot the same narrative, and his sources these days are either very quiet or they’re admitting things that he isn’t handling very well.

Which reminds me—I saw an ad for a t-shirt the other day with the caption
        I’m a teecher
        teashur
        teechur
        I work in a school

I don’t think casper actually lies so much as chooses the narratives that make him feel good, even with the gnawing realization in the back of his head that there is something wrong with them, and then is permanently attached to them (like “convicted felon”) because they are simple-minded, are petty little insults that are easy to remember, and he hasn’t been told to say anything else. We’ve noticed that he, like the other blog troll(s) here, gravitates to the mean-spirited, ugly and insulting, and avoids anything like actual political analysis or discourse. Ask him to explain his understanding of something and all he can say is “I posted a link”.

But even casper, in his intellectual haze, had to realize that Joe was lying the other night, and that had to shake the already unstable foundations of what he probably thinks is his political belief system (though it has so little with actual politics and is really just fawning over people he likes and snarling about those he doesn’t).

But he’ll be back. His attention span is so short he will forget Thursday night, especially after his masters have concocted a new narrative and spoon-fed it to him. They’ve been market-testing a few, with no luck (“he had a cold” and “it was just a bad debate night” and “what he said was brilliant but it didn’t come across because his delivery was bad” -circle back to “he had a cold”—and so on.) Let’s face it, it is going to take a while, like a very very very long while, to come up with anything that impresses any but a few at the bottom of the Left’s barrel. We can be sure that casper will be among them, but maybe with a little less certainty. He’s probably already working on spinning the debate to how it means Lieden will only win by nine and a half million votes.

      • Amazona June 29, 2024 / 10:21 am

most Democrats are not BIG people

I don’t know about that. Casper is definitely on the husky side.

  12. Amazona June 28, 2024 / 10:14 am

A couple of commenters on other sites have said that at one time Trump called Joe “Brandon”. If so, I missed it. Did anyone catch that? I know he slipped in a couple of sly zingers I didn’t get written down but I would have loved hearing that.

    • Cluster June 28, 2024 / 10:20 am

I don’t remember hearing that. I think Trump did well for 90% of the debate, but he let his hatred of Biden distract him towards the end. One thing that surprised me was how well Trump handled the abortion question. He nailed it and had a far better answer to it than Biden.

      • Amazona June 28, 2024 / 10:30 am

He did let himself get sucked into being defensive but then there was a moment where you could see him realize this and he immediately got back on point. I think the subject of Trump’s size and health is a sensitive one for Joe—he sure reacted to that, or tried to, before he lost even that train of thought. That’s when Trump picked up on it and followed up with commenting on his weakness by poking him about his golf game, which Joe really did hate and which Trump OWNED when he said “let’s not act like children” and Joe muttered under his breath, exactly like a 10-year-old, “YOU’RE the child!”

    • Retired Spook June 28, 2024 / 11:56 am

      From CNN’s debate transcript:

      TAPPER: President Trump?

TRUMP: I really don’t know what he said at the end of that sentence. I don’t think he knows what he said either.

Look, we had the safest border in the history of our country. The border – all he had to do was leave it. All he had to do was leave it. He decided to open up our border, open up our country to people that are from prisons, people that are from mental institutions, insane asylum, terrorists.

We have the largest number of terrorists coming into our country right now. All terrorists all over the world, not just in South America, all over the world. They come from the Middle East, everywhere, all over the world. They’re pouring in. And this guy just left it open.

And he didn’t need legislation. Because I didn’t have legislation, I said close the border. We had the safest border in history. In that final couple of months of my presidency, we had, according to Border Patrol, who is great – and, by the way, who endorsed me for president. But I won’t say that. But they endorsed me for president. Brandon, just speak to him.

  13. Amazona June 28, 2024 / 10:22 am

The Biden campaign published a post Wednesday that left many wondering why they were trying to make Donald Trump more popular with voters.

  14. Retired Spook June 28, 2024 / 12:00 pm

As he does so often, Jeff Childers nails it in his opening paragraph this morning:

Joe Biden’s halting debate performance against President Trump last night was a shock and a surprise to a large number of ordinary Americans who just woke up from a coma. As for we unlucky non-coma victims, who’ve had to sit through the entire show, we knew this day was coming sooner or later. NBC ran its version of the Titanic-sized disaster story under the bizarre —but truthful— headline, “‘Babbling’ and ‘hoarse’: Biden’s debate performance sends Democrats into a panic.” Instead of delivering Dark Brandon, the Democrats served up Murky Mr. Magoo.

In other GOOD NEWS, Supreme Court 1, Chevron Deference 0.

    • Mark Noonan June 28, 2024 / 10:24 pm

It was a glorious Supreme Court day, to be sure – Chevron gone and the J6 defendants essentially just had all their felony convictions voided. And that, of course, means that Bragg’s conviction of Trump is based on a false premise…it’ll not just be tossed, it’ll be voided. Like it never happened.

      • Amazona June 28, 2024 / 11:18 pm

I don’t think Bragg based his charade on obstruction of justice, though the entire *trial was so chaotic and littered with red herrings and irrelevant distractions it’s kind of hard to know what it WAS based on given the shell game during the *trial, the bait and switch at the end and the wackadoo jury instructions that told the jury to pick and choose among three different predicate crimes on which to base their verdict that the misdemeanors were really felonies—-none of which were argued in the *trial, two of which would have been tried in federal court and one of which just made no sense at all—that Trump might (or maybe could or would) falsify “other records”. I hope I have missed something important here and that the ruling can be applied to the NY case.

But the verdict was generated by, and designed to appeal to, people whose entire political philosophy is based on false premises so there’s not going to be a lot of consternation there. Their reaction is more likely to be “So???

The ruling ought to knock the J6 convictions right out and free all those people, and it will definitely affect the claims that Trump did something illegal

  16. Retired Spook June 28, 2024 / 12:34 pm

I suspect we’re be dissecting the debate transcript for some time. How about this gem from Biden:

Look, there’s so many young women who have been – including a young woman who just was murdered and he – he went to the funeral. The idea that she was murdered by a – by –by an immigrant coming in, and they talk about that. But here’s the deal, there’s a lot of young women who are being raped by their – by their in-laws, by their – by their spouses, brothers and sisters, by – just – it’s just – it’s just ridiculous. And they can do nothing about it.

Young women being raped by their sisters? Well, I guess if a brother identifies as a sister. YCMTSU!

    • Cluster June 28, 2024 / 1:16 pm

He is such a train wreck. But Joe Biden is going nowhere. The only person who wants to be President more so than Joe …. is Jill.

      • Amazona June 28, 2024 / 4:02 pm

I described Biden’s side of the debate as a slow-moving train wreck where every train car was carrying a burning dumpster.

    • Amazona June 28, 2024 / 4:01 pm

As you seem to have a transcript, Is there something in Biden’s ramblings about illegal immigrants about how only three people have been killed by an illegal immigrant or some such thing.? He was mumbling and slurring so much and talking so fast trying to cram in all of the talking points he had been rehearsing for a week that I didn’t quite hear what he said.

(It was obvious that he had been rehearsing specific talking points for quite a while but nobody bothered to tell him that he didn’t need to cram them all into one long run-on sentence rattled off at high speed.)

He seems to be trying to say, as far as anyone can figure out, that if we have homegrown American sexual predators, then we might as well import a few million from other countries as well.

      • Retired Spook June 28, 2024 / 4:47 pm

But look, we had the safest border in history. Now we have the worst border in history. There’s never been anything like it. And people are dying all over the place, including the people that are coming up in caravans.

TAPPER: Thank you, President Trump. President Biden?

BIDEN: The only terrorist who has done anything crossing the border is one who came along and killed three under his administration, killed – an al-Qaida person in his administration, killed three American soldiers – killed three American soldiers. That’s the only terrorist that’s there.

I’m not saying no terrorist ever got through. But the idea they’re emptying their prisons, we’re welcoming these people, that’s simply not true. There’s no data to support what he said. Once again, he’s exaggerating. He’s lying.

I have no idea what he was talking about. I don’t think he did either.

      • Amazona June 28, 2024 / 6:18 pm

        Thanks. I found the transcript.

From your post: an al-Qaida person in his administration, killed three American soldiers– killed three American soldiers. That’s the only terrorist that’s there.

It’s rare to see what is supposed to be a declaratory statement of fact so totally devoid of fact, and reason, and sense.

      • Mark Noonan June 28, 2024 / 10:23 pm

He did it in 2008 against Palin when he was pressed to the wall on failure he just spouted off that the USA and France had worked together under Clinton to get Hezbollah out of Lebanon. Totally devoid of fact…but it got him out of the difficult patch because the MSM, as per usual, didn’t call him on it.

I’m not sure which is worse, when you hear the tape or when you read the transcript.

Laugh of the day – Former Vice President Joe Biden at a post debate rally:

“But I know what I do know; I know HOW TO TELL THE TRUTH!!”

    • Amazona June 28, 2024 / 6:14 pm

I wonder how true this is:

For example, we have a thousand trillionaires in America – I mean, billionaires in America. And what’s happening? They’re in a situation where they, in fact, pay 8.2 percent in taxes. If they just paid 24 percent or 25 percent, either one of those numbers, they’d raised $500 million – billion dollars, I should say, in a 10-year period.

      • Retired Spook June 28, 2024 / 9:35 pm

I rarely use Wikipedia, but I can’t imagine why it would not be an accurate source for something like the number of billionaires, so the former Vice President only exaggerated by around 20%. The 8.2% income tax figure was not an exaggeration; it was just a bald-faced lie.

Another bald-faced lie was when Biden claimed that the Border Patrol endorsed him. THE BORDER PATROL HATES HIM.

      • Mark Noonan June 28, 2024 / 10:21 pm

And the Border Patrol was quick on X to point out that they didn’t endorse Biden.

But that is just Biden all over – he’s always just flat out lied when caught. He says the first thing that comes into his head and for his whole political career, the only time its mattered is when he was up against a more favored Democrat.

But now it is also just very obvious he’s making it up…and its kinda sad and pathetic. I think that there is a war going on internally among the Dems and it seems to me that while the elected Dems are grimly willing to stick with him, Money wants him out – and that makes sense. The electeds are the influence to be peddled…while Money is looking at Biden and going, “if I give this guy money, I might as well light it on fire: he won’t be there in January to give me favors in return.”

      • Amazona June 28, 2024 / 10:37 pm

I think everyone knew that the 8.2% tax claim was a lie. And he claimed that the richest only pay 1%. When Trump once philosophized that it would be great if there was something like bleach that could disinfect lungs (and BTW, yes there is and it is used all the time) Lieden turned it into Trump saying to inject bleach into our arms. I couldn’t type fast enough to keep up with the lies.

I think the mercifully small casper element is the only one really trying to support him now, and that’s because they have been so verbally worshiping at his feet that they just can’t admit that we were right and they were wrong. The smarter Lefties realize there is no option but to admit this.

Glenn Beck was speculating a day or two before the debate whether or not Biden would repeat the Charlottesville lie about Neo-Nazis being fine people, which even Snopes finally admitted after 7 years was not true. Sure enough:

What got me involved to run in the first place after my son had died, I decided – in Iraq – because of Iraq. I said, I wasn’t going to run again, until I saw what happened in Charlottesville, Virginia. People coming out of the woods carrying swastikas on torches and singing the same anti-Semitic bile they sang back in Germany.

And what did – and the young woman got killed, they spoke to the mother. And she – they asked him, they said, what – well, what do you think of those people? The people who wanted to get killed, the ones who tried to stop it, and the ones who said, I think they’re fine people on both sides.

What American president would ever say, Nazis coming out of fields, carrying torches, singing the same anti-Semitic bile, carrying swastikas, were fine people.

This is a guy who says Hitler’s done some good things. I’d like to know what they are. The good things Hitler’s done, that’s what he said. This guy has no sense of American democracy.

      • Amazona June 29, 2024 / 3:56 pm

When I saw Biden heading down that path I kept thinking no, you’re not really going to go there, are you? Is the head of the new American Nazi party aka the Democrat Party actually going to stand up there and scold other people for “carrying swastikas” and “singing the same anti-Semitic bile”? Has he looked at his base lately? Well, it might not really be his base because they’re mad at him for not also demanding that all Jews die, but they’re still Democrats.

Just curious though—how many of these Nazis were carrying swastikas on torches? Looking at the transcript, I think it’s pretty obvious that part of his debate prep included an effort to memorize a statement that said that the Nazis came out of fields or woods, whatever, and were carrying torches and were carrying swastikas and “singing the same anti-Semitic bile” Because he tried so hard to stick to the script. He got all the keywords in there—fast, tumbling over each other, not making a lot of sense, but he got them all in.

BTW, it sounds like Biden is trying to repeat the lie that his son died in Iraq. He sort of catches himself – sort of. He’s repeated so many lies, long after they’ve been debunked, that I don’t think his brain can distinguish between reality and fantasy. Plus he’s been caught plagiarizing so many times during his life that I think his moral compass is missing a part. Scary to think that he has his finger on the nuclear button. Someone on another site the other day said he sure hoped Biden didn’t mistake the red button for the button he pushes to order ice cream.

      • Amazona June 29, 2024 / 3:49 pm

I know. I really thought he was well on his way to referring to his son Beau who died in Iraq. And he was only a couple of words off of that before he did a switch that was pretty obvious, to “he died because he was next to burning chemicals in Iraq”. He wanted so badly to say that Beau died in Iraq but the fact that he caught himself and changed that at the last minute is proof that he knows perfectly well that it’s a lie. You can almost hear the debate preppers screaming at him over and over for a week “don’t say that Beau died in Iraq”. But he wanted to. He really really wanted to. At least he got Beau’s name in, and that was on the Debate Bingo card.

Fortunately the president cannot make a unilateral decision to start a nuclear war or even start one by accident. There are a couple of fail-safes to prevent that.

“…the bulk of what passes for Democrat ideology is really nothing more than a blind hatred of an Invented Other, a fictional creation which embodies all that is evil and which is presented to Democrats as a “typical Republican”…”

A good percentage of the current group of US citizens who consider themselves Democrats are exactly like the majority of the North Korea citizens. They are fed so much crap, unable to think for themselves much less appeal to logic, they believe the most unbelievable of things. The typical North Korean is taught to hate the US and her people (believing we hate them back), and think they can defeat the US militarily. Likewise, democrats also hate the US and work relentlessly to destroy the US.
