I honestly did not expect this to happen – I figured the old bastard would stick forever.
But, man, does this look rushed – the announcement just popped up on X with no advance warning. No prep for a televised address (which is how you’d normally do such a thing)…and the initial post “forgot” to endorse Harris. This was taken care of a few minutes later when they realized they forgot that detail.
I can only figure that someone got to Biden’s people on Sunday morning and said words to the effect of “He’s out. He’s out right now. If he refuses then a whole bunch of really horrible things will be exposed.”
In the end, the mechanics of it, aside from Biden being senile, is that the money had run out – he’s still got about $200 million but he burned through $50 million in June and no more was coming in. That’s not enough for a Fall campaign which just gets more expensive day by day. Harris gets to use that money – and my bet is that she’ll get the nod. Pretty confident that Team Obama (which probably presented the hemlock to Biden) is already working the phones lining up first-ballot delegates for Harris. If nobody big jumps in, it’ll just be hers by default. But there is always that chance that the far Left will want to make some noise and so will find a stalking horse to deny her a first ballot majority – and then it all just gets more fun from there!
Who’s the Veep? Shapiro would be best and would actually cause some trouble for Trump in Pennsylvania but he’s only been governor for two years and he’s got his own ambitions…and those ambitions might not be helped by joining a losing effort. I doubt they’ll go with a woman – so, look for a term-limited Democrat governor or a Senator who isn’t going anywhere.
Right now, the race remains Lean-R; it was about to tip Likely-R but this does throw the race into a bit of chaos. And Harris will now benefit from some glowing MSM coverage – she might get a boost in the polls.
I don’t think Trump should debate her – why give the Democrats any air?
Trump’s PAC already has an ad out condemning Harris for her part in the cover-up of Biden’s condition and the failed border. This is good – and I’m sure Team Trump has already made lots of prep to face her. Democrats, lacking the least sense of shame, are already attacking Trump as the old guy…and this, my friends, is why Trump did that 90 minute acceptance speech. He could already see what might happened and he needed to prove after the attempt that he’s physically and mentally up to it, regardless of who he winds up against.
Main thing for the GOP is that until the DNC, the Democrats don’t even really have a candidate and they are still in disarray…a lot of people are going to be burned up about this and Biden people will be…unhelpful.
UPDATE: I read that wrong! So far, the Clinton’s have endorsed Harris but Obama didn’t – his post on it talks of having an open nominating process. That surprises me. My bet: they’ll come together on this but there is now a non-zero chance that the Obama and Clinton camps get into a pissing match over the nominee.
Well Folks, if want to know anything just me my opinion on the subject and the opposite will turn out true!
😛
LOL – this caught us all by surprise
ask ^
Proof reading is not my thing. I own my mistakes.
🙂
I just came in from mowing the grass, checked emails and saw the announcement. I was shocked as well. If the Dems had a really good replacement it would make a lot more sense, but they don’t. As you note, Trump talked coherently for 90 minutes, much of the time without the teleprompter. Harris can’t talk coherently for even a couple of minutes without a teleprompter, plus her record of accomplishment as VP is abysmal + HER ANCESTORS OWNED SLAVES!!!!
Look for repeated attempts to assassinate Trump until they either succeed or it’s tied to someone on the Left who really matters, ie., not a 20-year-old loser.
There’s also now the gloom-and-doomers on the Right – “OMG! Harris is young and she’ll have the system behind her! We’re finished!”.
Irritating as heck – she’s still Harris. She’s an idiot. She owns Biden’s total failure. And Trump will hit her with “what did she know, when did she know it?” She had to have known that Biden was senile…and she was out there lying about it just before Biden dropped out.
I do expect her to get a bump in the polls…but at the end of the day, Trump was winning before the debate because things are bad…Harris is the owner of the bad and won’t be able to shake it, even if she ran the brilliant campaign she’s totally incapable of.
I was a little surprised, but as long as the rest of the party falls in line for Harris, this will be a good thing. The biggest problem will be if some of the donors try to bring in another candidate. If the party unifies behind Harris, Trump will have a much tougher time.
Now you come back?
Only now? When you can say nice things about a Democrat?
You’re nothing if not consistent.
Are you saying you missed me?
Like a case of Herpes.
It was kind of funny, knowing casper was huddled in the fetal position waiting to be told what he thinks. And now he knows. He thinks that the First Indian Senator, the First Indian California District Attorney, who suddenly decided to be black due to a Jamaican grandfather who might have had some African blood, whose work as DA caused thousands of young black men to be sentenced to long prison terms for relatively minor drug offenses, whose ancestors owned slaves, and whose DEI appointment as VP showed her to be the most incompetent, incoherent and unpopular VP in the last century or so, is a wonderful candidate for his party.
A party for which he cannot even define a core ideology.
Oh, he has also adopted the theme that when Biden froze, when he said Trump was his Vice President, when he said he was a woman, when he couldn’t remember the name of his SecDef, etc. those were not signs of dementia—they were merely “gaffes”. Of course, he also wrote off Biden’s incoherent babbling as “stuttering”.
Democracy Institute has an insta-poll out with 61% of voters (and 51% of Democrats) figuring Biden’s ouster is “undemocratic”.
“Saving Our Democracy” just got ended as an issue.
But worse for Democrats: Indy’s aren’t going to buy this bullsh**.
Joe was senile and Democrats and the MSM covered it up. And now they’ve engineered an undemocratic coup because their cover up failed.
Biden made the final decision. He would have probably still gotten the nomination if he stayed in, but with the press focusing on every gaffe he made, it would have made it difficult for him to win. Now the focus will be on Trump, his age, his policies, and his past. I voted for Biden/Harris. If I still get Harris I’m happy.
Biden hasn’t made a decision more complicated than “ice cream or pudding?” It was made for him.
They can go after Trump’s age, but that will be a hard call given his vitality. His past? Hint: that was a long long time ago, though I agree that the fact you mentioned it means it has been a topic on MSNBC.
His policies? Since when? His policies were popular, they led to no more wars and a booming economy and lower taxes and stronger national security and more secure borders. As opposed to importing murderers and rapists and terrorists and supporting them with prepaid credit cards and cell phones and luxury hotel rooms, issuing edicts demanding that people inject experimental drugs or lose their jobs and the ability to travel freely, hiring based on skin color or transient gender identities, massively increasing national debt and debilitating national security.
You people never campaign on policies, or when you do you adopt conservative policies till you get elected and then revert to Stalin Lite. (Though it is less “lite” all the time.) It’s Identity Politics all the time. There is literally only one reason to vote for any Democrat–s/he is not Trump. That’s all you got.
If “pasts” are considered relevant, there is always the past that has earned Kamala Harris so many nicknames referring to her path to promotion being on her back or her knees, servicing a married man who then used his influence to get her better jobs and recognition in his political world.
While Trump’s sexual history appears to have been recreational, Kamala’s was transactional, and she has been vice president to a man who had an adulterous affair with the woman who not only babysat his children but was married to a friend. That was a double cuckolding—Biden not only boinked his friend’s wife, he drove his Corvette. So for the past almost-four years we have had an adulterer president, an adulteress First Lady and a Vice President who provided sexual favors in return for special treatment in politics.
And the casperish scolds of the Left want to clutch their pearls about Trump. What hypocrites.
They haven’t told him yet. He’s still on that fake set they mocked up signing EOs and pardons.
If I still get Harris I’m happy.
You deserve each other.
If I still get Harris I’m happy.
What a brilliant summary of casper’s political IQ
“Saving Our Democracy” just got ended as an issue. We’ll see. I thought that “Nazi” got ended as a theme once the party came out for genocide of Jews, but it still resonates in the bowels of the party, along with “Hitler”.
Trump’s policies led to record unemployment and the most Covid deaths in the world. Then there were the record record deficits and releasing 5000 Taliban.
Looks like Democrats are rallying around Harris rather quickly. That’s good for us and bad for you. Now we can get back to Project 2025 and how Trump is too old to run for president.
When you read something like this you think “huh?” Then you realize that it is merely brain-dead puppet regurgitation of toxic Leftist nonsense, though “nonsense” is a benign word for the sheer malevolence it represents.
It only takes a second or two to realize that this “record unemployment” and “the most Covid deaths in the world” had absolutely nothing to do with “Trump’s policies”. Nothing. And every single thinking, honest, fair-minded person knows this. (This clearly eliminates casper.)
When Covid hit, Trump acted like the leader he is. He consulted with the “experts” in a field where he was not, admittedly, well-versed. And the top “expert” in the field, in the country, allegedly in the whole world, advised him on how to deal with the problem. One of the things he was told was that the real need was a vaccine, and he used his leadership skills to push through an unprecedented rapid development of such a vaccine. In the meantime he did his research and tried to reassure the people that this was a disease that could be beaten, that there were treatments that had been successful.
But then he ran into the most insane, callous, calculation of the Left, which was that tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, of people should die if the alternative were to have President Trump credited with giving good, life-saving, advice to the people. This brutal application of #RESIST had the complicity of the entire Agenda Media and every partisan Trump hater in the country, resulting in the wholly irrational and inexcusable national hysteria not just questioning or discouraging life-saving treatments but banning them, making them unavailable, and prosecuting doctors who recommended or prescribed them.
We react with horror when we read of Stalin relentlessly starving millions of Ukrainians in his pursuit of power, sending troops in to destroy crops and livestock and even search shoes and hair for hidden bits of food the people had desperately tried to keep to try to survive. Someday an account of the acts of our own state governments and their lackeys in the determined prevention of simple, available and productive treatments for this virus will get the same horrified and disgusted reaction.
Covid’s main danger was, in some people, an overreaction of the immune system to the virus, creating what is called a “cytokine storm” or massive inflammation of the lungs. Doctors are familiar with cytokine storms and other, less, dramatic, examples of autoimmune overreaction. They know, for example, that the first-line defense against inflammation is steroids—yet the narrative was to refuse to administer steroids. Doctors had been successfully treating autoimmune problems like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis for decades, using a drug developed to fight malaria, but when President Trump told the people that the drug hydroxychloroquine might be effective to treat the symptoms of this virus the drug, safely and effectively used for half a century all over the world, was demonized. And worse, it was banned. Pharmacists refused to honor prescriptions. Doctors who prescribed it were threatened with loss of their licenses, and even with imprisonment. Lapdog media obediently ran huge headlines: THIS DRUG WILL KILL YOU !!
This was not a Trump policy. This was an anti-Trump propaganda campaign, sacrificing tens of thousands of human lives in the process. So instead of calmly treating massive inflammation with steroids and then the impulse of the body to overreact to the virus with hydroxychloroquine, people were told they needed to be put on VENTILATORS. They were not told that ventilators have their own inherent problems and dangers. No, the well -publicized hysteria was WE NEED MORE VENTILATORS! and the press was full of examples of the life-threatening tragedy of lack of enough ventilators. Companies were modified to build ventilators. All we heard was VENTILATORSVENTILATORSVENTILATORSVENTILATORSVENTILATORSVENTILATORSVENTILATORS and as people died after being put on ventilators the press was silent, blaming only the virus.
And Trump.
The only Trump “policy” that led to deaths was that of paying attention to the “experts” and agencies entrusted with protecting the health and lives of Americans. The “policies” that led to tens if not hundreds of thousands of deaths were those of political partisans who made the calculation that if enough people were to die, and if every effort Trump made to help the people through this was blocked, demonized and disabled, the political payoff would be worth it.
In the meantime, that same complicit lapdog media, now complicit not just in political propaganda but in murder, continued to publish lies about Trump, claiming he had suggested injecting bleach, for example.
To this day, there is danger to doctors for openly treating Covid with proven successful treatments including steroids, hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin.
What Trump was trying to deal with was unprecedented—a battle not against a disease but against any productive measure taken, or attempted to be taken, by a political opponent.
Trump took the advice of his “experts” and did the impossible—got a new vaccine developed in less than a year. Assured that it had been fully tested and proved to be safe and effective, he made it available to the nation. IN LESS THAN A YEAR.
Then what happened? Well, first of all he lost the presidency. Not the election, mind you, but the presidency. Then his successor took credit for the vaccine, and entered into collusion with the drug companies making it. That is, he allowed them to continue selling the drug as an “experimental” drug, even as severe damages started to appear. The designation of experimental use meant the drug companies were protected from liability for damages from their drugs, and Biden (not Congress, but Biden) allowed this designation to continue for three years, meaning that he was complicit in allowing people to be seriously harmed or even killed, as the problems with this “vaccine” started to develop, with no legal recourse from the companies who knew of the dangers but continued marketing the drug.
This was a Biden POLICY. This was a purposeful act of the Biden presidency. None of the problems of the drug had come out when President Trump had authority, and when he was still president the federal agencies and medical authorities were assuring him, and us, that this drug was safe and effective and would prevent contracting the disease and would save lives. But when the dangers of the drug became evident, and when it was also shown that the drug did not prevent contracting the disease, the Biden POLICY was not just to continue making it available in spite of the dangers but to continue lying to the public about its safety and effectiveness and to force people to take it.
No, the Biden POLICY was to make injecting this increasingly identified-as-dangerous drug mandatory, if people wanted to keep their jobs or military positions or travel freely. It was to force people to take a dangerous drug, while colluding with the drug companies to protect them from liability for the damages caused by the drug–while funneling billions of dollars (that’s BILLIONS with a B) of taxpayer dollars to these companies.
And the Biden POLICY was to continue having federal government tell the people that this drug was safe, and effective, and would protect them from Covid—without a word about the many dangerous effects of this drug on so many people. It was to build lie upon lie upon lie, lies which the Biden administration continues to this day, with full knowledge that the drug is not only dangerous, it does not protect against Covid.
In the meantime, the Biden POLICY was to continue shutdowns of the business that had been temporarily shut down under Trump policies, as well as to continue the closure of schools.
So spare us your pathetic mewling about Trump’s role in the damages inflicted upon this nation by Covid, and quit lying as you imply that the economic harm was due to Trump POLICIES.
Trump, in negotiating a peace agreement, agreed to a prisoner release trade, in which 1000 prisoners were released in exchange for the release, by Afghanistan, of 5000 Taliban prisoners.
This was an orderly release, and did not include giving the Taliban billions of dollars of military equipment or leaving thousands of Americans and American sympathizers behind at the mercy of the newly-armed and energized Taliban.
The “record” for deficits was quickly shattered when the Left took over the government.
You still haven’t given an example of what you find offensive about Project 2025, or why you seem so determined to believe that this is a Trump policy statement.
Oh, that’s right. You haven’t read Project 2025, or know that it was put together by the Heritage Foundation and is unrelated to the Trump campaign. But why let a few facts interfere with a giddy exhibition of your ignorance?
All you need to “know” is that your masters have told you the very phrase “Project 2025” is enough of a rallying cry for the equally intellectually disabled, and you nod, lick a boot, and scurry off here to repeat it.
The “record” for deficits was quickly shattered when the Left took over the government.
Actually, it wasn’t. Here’s a historic chart of the national debt by fiscal year. The 4 fiscal years for which the Trump Administration was responsible began 10/1/17 and ended 10/1/21. But figures can be deceiving. The rise in the debt during his first two years was negligible. The lion’s share of the increase during Trumps first term was the result of states shutting down, and millions of people being laid off. the only way to avoid a catastrophic depression was for the government to bail out those who had lost their jobs and the thousands of small businesses that were forced to close. Good people can argue over whether or not the government did a good job of this. I would submit that it didn’t, but to blame Trump for the increase in the national debt in fiscal years ’20 and ’21 is not intellectually honest.
Thanks for the correction. As you say to blame Trump for the increase in the national debt in fiscal years ’20 and ’21 is not intellectually honest. which is just another way of saying Democrat deceptive strategy
which is just another way of saying Democrat deceptive strategy
Historically, Democrats have been highly skilled at massive deficit spending and then blaming the resulting increase in the national debt on Republicans.
I too thought Biden would hang in there but don’t think for a minute that he did this for the “good of the party”. He selfishly hung in there until the very end instead passing the torch long before this. Questions now are, will he keep the Presidency? And who will be the sacrificial lamb?
Now we get to watch the bloodletting as one element of his party demands that he resign so they can finally have The First “Black” Woman President and an incumbent, while other branches of the party try to figure out how to finesse dumping the “black” woman for a white man.
She couldn’t even prepare adequately for a phone conference with top Dem donors. Gruesome will have to deal with replaying of his disastrous debate with DeSantis, and the burden of “Do we really want to make America more like California?”
Maybe casper should have waited till Barry told him what he thinks:
So now the old rules might not be in play, as the “democratic process” of the primary system has been junked and now “the leaders of our party will be able to create a process”. AKA make it up as they go along, to find some “outstanding nominee” the leaders of the party decide on.
Yep, back to that Leftist model of consolidation of power in the hands of a few elites.
“Maybe casper should have waited till Barry told him what he thinks:”
Don’t worry. He will psircle back so quick Jen would be proud!
Back after Trump won in 2016 I was frequently asked, mostly by non-believers, how I as a devout Christian could support someone like Trump, and, other than saying that God works in mysterious ways and has, throughout history, used flawed people to do his work, I never really had a good answer. Steve Deace, writing a The Blaze, makes a point that a lot of Christians realized nearly a decade ago but didn’t seem to be able to articulate.
My response to the “how can Christians support Trump” has been that to me Christianity is about redemption, salvation and forgiveness, and from what I understand Trump turned away from the lifestyle and activities that offend so many “Christians” and in his own way has redeemed himself and has earned forgiveness.
I also remember that the Disciples were deeply flawed men, yet chosen by Christ to follow Him and preach His gospel and build His church. I have always envisioned these scolds as people who, in His time, would have wagged a finger in Christ’s face and told Him how wrong He was to spend time with people like this. Yet His message has always been about forgiveness, redemption and salvation.
Excellent response.
I meant, “he is now the old senile candidate in this campaign.” Gotta love it.
It is not the age but the ability. Your mush melon has none. “Covid” took your guy out. A bullet could not take my guy out.
AS far as Christians supporting him, maybe you should do some research about a guy named Saul that was not the subject of pop culture.
We’ve all commented about what a brain-dead loser Gavin Newsom is. His comments about Biden abandoning the race just confirmed what we already knew. (from Blaze Media)
It doesn’t matter who the Democrat candidate is … the policies, the divisiveness, and the incompetence remain the same. America also learned yesterday that Democrat voters don’t matter to the Democrat Party, which is now controlled by Democrat Elites, Big Media, and Private Equity. It’s a top down, dysfunctional party and that won’t change anytime soon.
It’s always been this. Under the thin veneer of Identity Politics the core structure of the Left is always there, always motivating everything.
Leftist governance is always about the consolidation of power in the hands of a few elites. It always has been and always will be. It is the defining essence of Leftism.
But the mindless supporters of Leftist governance are not just ignorant of this, they are indifferent to it, because all they care about is that surface oil slick of Personality and Identity that hides the ugly truth of Leftist ideology.
Lest there be any doubt why Biden quit, here’s 20 minutes worth of reasons.
I just couldn’t stomach but a few minutes of that. Anyone with even half a brain knows Bidum is NOT running the country. I doubt there more than a small handful of people who do know, which should scare every American citizen and our allies.
This is an infuriating read, but hilarious at the same time, and the single reason why our country is in such chaos. DEI folks will be the end of America if we allow it to continue
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/07/secret-service-recruitment-guide-confirms-that-dei-is/
There’s plenty of room in the Secret Service for small women, just not in positions where they might have to carry a protectee away from a scene. If a woman is a skilled shooter who has passed the evaluation saying she is competent and mentally and emotionally able to fire at other human beings, she can be a valuable asset in a protective detail. For one thing, she is less likely to be identified by a bad guy as being on a protective detail, and can blend in more easily in a crowd. She can provide the same level of observation and defense as a man.
We just have to acknowledge the physical limitations and work within them. It’s just common sense. If a protection detail has to be able to surround a protectee and provide enough cover to hide him from an attacker, clearly the agent has to have the body size to be able to do this.
And Secret Service is not just protection detail, just as protection detail is not just physical protection of a body. Secret Service handles investigations of counterfeiting, for example, and as we recently saw it includes (or should include) perimeter observation and sniper coverage.
We just need leaders (including agency heads) with the common sense and objectivity to match people to the right roles and not be controlled by PC ideology.
Of all of those pictures in the manual only one is a white male, under “Field Office Assignment”. Think they could try a little harder to hide their racism / sexism? Guess they just don’t care because anyone who calls them out will be labeled – racist, sexist. The left ALWAYS projects the crap they pull onto their opposition. There’s absolutely no place for the head of any government agency who’s priority is DEI.
Greg Gutfield often refers to the Democrat Party as the party of AWFUL’s (affluent, white, female, urban, liberals) and this move championed by Jen Psaki would cement that … and I hope this happens
MSNBC anchor Katy Tur pines for a ticket consisting of Vice President Kamala Harris and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, in order to “push back” against the “machismo” displayed at the just-concluded Republican National Convention:
China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea have got to be salivating over the prospect of a Harris/Whitmer Administration.
Well those other world leaders will be required to address them by their pronouns, we can all be assured of that LOL
https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1815193874366640591
Just had a meme texted to me showing Leonardo DiCaprio crying with the caption “Me watching the Left realizing the 100 million ballots they prefilled now have the wrong name.
LOL
We laugh, but I have wondered the same thing, including wondering how much of the DNC support for Biden was based on the logistics of changing the election fraud preparations.
Just to refresh your memory, Kamala Harris lost in the 2020 Democrat primaries to a turnip. Didn’t just lose in a tight race; she came in last.
And so it begins…setting the tone for the 2024 campaign. (Assuming Harris is the nominee.)
Whatever floats your boat. Probably the first time EVER that Casper and I have been happy about the same thing, albeit for opposite reasons.
