There’s really too much to talk about! Future historians are going to have to spend chapters just on the first week – and keep referencing back to it as they discuss future developments from the initial actions. We’re definitely getting what we voted for!
The capper came on Sunday when the far-left President of Colombia tried to stop Trump from deporting Colombians back to Colombia (think about that for a second). Trump immediately hit back, hard, and Colombia had to cave. It must always be remembered as we engage in our foreign affairs that any nation we deal with needs us far more than we need them. And it is also useful to remember that as ragged as we are at the moment – with all our monumental problems – we are still, by far, the most powerful nation on Earth.
People tend to forget that when the Germans threw in the towel in May of 1945, American power was waxing. We had millions of soldiers in the USA still in training – they never even got out of the country. We had 12 field armies. A Navy of 4,200 combat ships. 43,000 combat aircraft. And we were still building flat out. Latent in the USA is still that power. We still are a young country. We haven’t really begun to tap the resources in and on our own soil. But more importantly than that, access to the US market is a live or die need for other nations…if they can’t sell to us, they can’t sell their products and their economies will shrivel up and die. For Latin America it is even more than that – the remittances from legal and illegal immigrants in the USA is a gigantic part of their national income. We’ve been treated like garbage because we’ve allowed ourselves to be treated like garbage…like Colombia or nations like that should be taking any other tone than polite request with us.
Look, I don’t want conflict with other nations. I have become an America First Isolationist. Foreign wars, aside from being just generally bad, are bad for the USA. We can have a National Security State or we can be free and prosperous. I want good relations and reciprocal trade with other nations. I wish nothing but goodwill to all. But, dang it, we must be treated fairly and with respect. We’re not the world’s garbage can, nor the world’s piggy bank. If we give, we must get. If they want us to treat them with respect, that goes both ways. You ask us if we will agree – you don’t demand.
And that is what Trump is trying to do – to rebalance the world. To make it real. And the real world is that you’re not allowed to walk all over us.
We’re also not allowed to walk all over ourselves. Plenty of people in the Deep State tried right off to find a way to resist Trump – playing word games with job titles and basically saying that they were going to do to Trump in 2025 what they had done in 2017. Ain’t happening. Hegseth is already laying down the law at Defense. Rubio is doing it at State. Lots of people are being fired, reassigned or simply being told not to bother coming back in. Per Civil Service rules, Trump can’t just fire all these people…but he probably does have power to find them surplus to needs and then can them (and having them sit at home for a month and nobody notices would kinda prove the point). Also, we don’t want these people screwing around while Trump tries to get his nominees confirmed…we need to get our people in charge, have them learn the lay of the land and then we can start seeing who stays and who goes. Remember, in Trump’s first term, the bureaucrats would just flat out lie to Trump’s appointees about what they could legally do…that isn’t happening this time. Trump’s Chief of Staff is making sure all i’s are dotted and t’s crossed.
It has been a heck of a lot of fun! Now, do keep in mind: the sugar high will wear off. There will be bumps along the road. There will even be failures and defeats. But the course is set – and right now Trump has the Left on the ropes…and the Democrats seem determined to hold to their 2024 program.
Does anyone know if the ill-gotten gains from criminal activity can be taken away form anyone who received a presidential pardon? It seems a pardon protects a person from incarceration or loss of certain privileges that apply to felons. But suppose it can be proven that person received millions of dollars in cash and/or goods through their illegal activity. Can the government confiscate it? Could for example any of the Biden family members be forced to be stripped of the money acquired from their crime syndicate? Or could illegal profits Fauci may have acquired from the COVID scam be stripped?
Not quite sure on that – it has probably never been tested before but what Biden’s interns did with the pardons is unprecedented. Never have so many been pardoned so fast nor have so many pardons been issued to people who were never even charged with a crime. One of the people pardoned is a drug lord who murdered two people (including a child) to get rid of a witness. How the heck did that guy get into the mix? Someone paid to get him in there…who? Why? Unraveling this will take some time.
Wouldn’t the money be a civil suit and thus not a pardon, potentially?
Now that Radcliffe has confirmed that Covid came from Wuhan and is a product of gain of function funded by Dr. Fauci and the NIH, what can be done? Can Fauci still be held liable. And what about all the propaganda? People’s lives were ruined for even suggesting Covid was manufactured so I hope people are held accountable on this issue, particularly Fauci and Peter Dzasik.
Mark,
Some are saying that the Nostradamus predictions for 2025 are economic collapse and World War III and also the assassination of President Trump in December 2025.
Myself, I don’t put too much stock in such starry eyed predictions, but just wanted to get your take on it…
if it’s as accurate as his average position I’m not worried,
The Christian take on it, of course!
Be ready, for He comes like a thief in the night.
Prepare yourself for a massive fear campaign in the next few years. It’s the only thing Democrats know how to run on ….
As greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise, scientists reveal many of the world’s cities will be plunged underwater in just 75 years.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-14329927/Shocking-images-cities-flood-2100-sea-levels.html
Wow – 75 years. Remember when John F’n Scary predicted all of that calamity happening in just 20-25 years (which has already passed). Seems they realized this fear tactic requires a long game so they had to push it out past the point when most everyone alive today would already be dead.
weren’t we told it was already ‘too late’?
Various players on the alarmist side have said we only have 10 years left to save the planet, before we reach the point of no return. They’ve been saying this periodically since the early to mid 80s. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me 5 times, shame on me.
Coffee & Covid is an absolute must-read today.
And this is why they tried to kill Trump.
Sure, maybe it wasn’t a conspiracy where orders were issued directly…but the events around Butler clearly show a Ruling Class hoping that someone takes their anti-Trump propaganda at face value while they set the “security” into place where it is bound to fail.
Remember: the Secret Service failed at Butler. Had Trump not turned his head at that moment, he’d be dead.
The US government spends trillions of dollars every year – the money flows out in large and small amounts to all manner of people who would have to get real jobs if it ended. And if anyone thinks that the various global criminal gangs aren’t taking full advantage of this, then I’ve got a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. With that much money at stake, people will do anything to keep it going.
Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest?
But…but…I never actually TOLD anyone to kill him!
Few of us are privy to the costs US taxpayers are stuck with associated to belonging to organizations such as the WHO, that we’ve apparently been a part of since 1948. The With Trump’s EO to withdraw, the WHO has been seeking donations.
As of Friday afternoon, only around $23,000 had been raised toward a $1 billion goal.
It’s a meager fraction of the $706 million shortfall in contributions anticipated from the U.S. for the 2024-2025 two-year budget period — 18 percent of the organization’s revenue.
There are 193 members of the UN, of which the United States remains the largest donor. It contributed more than $18 billion in 2022, accounting for one-third of funding for the body’s collective budget. In 2023, the United Nations assessed the United States’ share of the regular budget at 22 percent and its share of the peacekeeping budget at 27 percent.
There are also massive amounts of money spent on many nations around the world for a variety of reasons. When the democrats are in control of the purse those reasons often include things such as aid for abortion, transgenderism and other leftist ideologies, along with war related aid and expenditures. Just the aid to Ukraine has been in untold billions.
In 2018, federal money made up 14% of all college revenue. About 3.6% of total federal spending went towards higher education investments, according to the US government’s Datalab. Colleges and universities received $1.068 trillion in revenue from federal and non-federal funding sources in 2018. When considering many of these universities have endowments in the BILLIONS, why are we still giving them aid?
How much money does the US spend on grants for absurd things such as the study of the mating habits of some obscure insect, or other equally asinine expenditures? How much money is given for research projects by the US government that the government (US taxpayers) does not benefit from?
We’ve discussed here on this blog how worthless certain departments within the US government are, such as the Department of Education and Department of Energy. Aside from those the US has an untold number of programs that are even more useless. The Heritage Foundation has a noteworthy list of the top 10 obsolete programs https://www.heritage.org/budget-and-spending/commentary/top-10-obsolete-government-programs.
These are only a few of the things the government needs to eliminate. I’m guessing the DOGE’s hope for 2 trillion dollars in reduced government waste isn’t really such a lofty goal.
As of Friday afternoon, only around $23,000 had been raised toward a $1 billion goal.
That right there tells you everything you need to know.
The only country on Earth that really acts as if money grows on trees is the USA…we got into the habit of it in WWII and just never stopped.
And it continues ….

They would not have this impact if not for the Dem demand that they be counted in the census.
Yep. Part of that is just legacy from 1787 – when it took six weeks to sail from the UK to the USA, there just wasn’t much of a need to worry about non-citizens being in the country. There just wouldn’t be many outside of port cities. But just as its obvious we never enacted an Amendment to secure the right of foreigners to enter illegally and give birth to citizens, so we never enacted anything to count either transient foreigners or persons illegally in country for the census. We never intended that our representation would be determined by the number of non-citizens resident in a State.
But we also have the Constitution, itself:
The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct
“As they shall by Law direct”.
Now, I did look up the laws governing the census, and when we get to counting (13 U.S. Code § 141), it says this:
(a) The Secretary shall, in the year 1980 and every 10 years thereafter, take a decennial census of population as of the first day of April of such year, which date shall be known as the “decennial census date”, in such form and content as he may determine, including the use of sampling procedures and special surveys. In connection with any such census, the Secretary is authorized to obtain such other census information as necessary.
(b) The tabulation of total population by States under subsection (a) of this section as required for the apportionment of Representatives in Congress among the several States shall be completed within 9 months after the census date and reported by the Secretary to the President of the United States.
This was last amended in 1976 and there’s nothing in there requiring the counting of illegal immigrants. Some might argue in court that counting them is implied but it is definitely not required. And I think a counter-argument can easily be made – and be accepted by the Supreme Court – that we never intended the census to count illegal immigrants. That if the law was proposed on that basis, it would have gone down to flaming defeat in Congress…even the most Liberal Democrat Congress imaginable. Given that it isn’t commanded by the law, I do believe that (hopefully) President Vance or DeSantis in 2030 can direct the Bureau of the Census to not count illegals (naturally referencing both the Constitution and the law enacted to carry it out: “in such form and content as he may determine”. We’re just saying that the form and content is to not count illegals). Of course they’d be sued…but they can still do the count under the rules established by the President and since it all has to be completed with 9 months of April 1st, even an adverse decision would likely come too late and unless Congress mandates an extraordinary census before 2040 (which would take Presidential approval), everyone is just stuck with the numbers provided (just as we were stuck with the numbers provided after the 2020 Census and this cost us, probably, half a dozen Red State House seats).
It’s so easy to fix this. Go along with the idea that the purpose of the census is to find out the size of the population—that could mean the total population, of citizens and legal residents and illegal aliens. After all, they are all living here and therefore “the population” and I can see the value in knowing exactly how many people live here.
So pass a law saying that only citizens will be counted for the purpose of determining Congressional representation. The final count shall consist of three categories: citizens, legal residents and illegal aliens. This would actually provide us with a more useful census count anyway, and stop the influence of illegal immigration on how our country is run.
US Code can easily be amended: In this case, to read “The tabulation of total population of U.S. citizens by States under subsection (a) of this section as required for the apportionment of Representatives in Congress….”
A legislative fix is the best – but trying to get that past the RINOs and those bribed by the Cartels is going to be tricky! But it is hoped that this is the actual solution.
My son told me tonight; So sad… we only have 3 years and 51 weeks more of President Trump. What an incredible first week.
