Obama Royally Snubbed

So, what happened to that whole mantra that Obama would make our country more respected around the Globe?

President Obama and his wife Michelle will not be invited to Prince William’s wedding next year.

Because Prince William is not yet heir to the throne, his wedding to Kate Middleton is not classed as a ‘state occasion’ – and the couple feel under no pressure to fill the 2,000-strong guest list with heads of state, the Mail understands.

They are more eager to ask ordinary citizens and charity workers than foreign dignitaries and VIPs to what will be the first royal ‘people’s wedding’, courtiers suggested.

A handful of heads of state are likely to be invited in line with previous royal weddings, possibly including France’s President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni.

But the decision to exclude the American premier and his wife Michelle from the celebrations marks a break from tradition.

Perhaps part of the issue is that Obama has insulted British heads of state and the Royal Family with some rather lame ass gifts.

Federal Judge: Obamacare Unconstitutional

Victory!

A federal judge in Virginia has declared the Obama administration’s health care reform law unconstitutional.

U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson is the first judge to rule against the law, which has been upheld by two others in Virginia and Michigan.

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli filed the lawsuit challenging the law’s requirement that citizens buy health insurance or pay a penalty starting in 2014.

He argues the federal government doesn’t have the constitutional authority to impose the requirement.

Other lawsuits are pending, including one filed by 20 states in a Florida court. Virginia is not part of that lawsuit.

The U.S. Justice Department and opponents of the health care law agree that the U.S. Supreme Court will have the final word.

Discuss.

Wikileaks Documents Show WMD Were Found In Iraq

Unfortunately, this information hasn’t made it on the media’s radar.

The release by Julian Assange’s web site Wikileaks of classified documents reveals that U.S. military intelligence discovered chemical weapons labs, encountered insurgents who were specialists in the creation of toxins, and uncovered weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. However, Washington, DC officials and the news media have ignored this information.

One of the WikiLeaks document dumps reveals that as late as 2008, American troops continued to find WMD in the region.

There are numerous mentions of chemical and biological weapons in the WikiLeaks documents, however the U.S. media appear only interested in those portions of the leaked material that highlight actions that are viewed as embarrassing for the U.S. military such as the accusation that U.S. commanders were aware of abuse and “torture” of prisoners by Iraqi soldiers and police officers.

[…]

According to the latest WikiLeaks document “dump,” Saddam’s toxic arsenal, significantly reduced after the Gulf War, remained intact. Jihadists, insurgents and foreign (possibly Iranian) agitators turned to these stockpiles during the Iraq conflict and may have brewed up their own deadly agents, according to the WikiLeaks web site.

During that time, former Iraqi General Georges Sada, Saddam’s top commander, detailed the transfers of Iraq’s WMD. “There [were] weapons of mass destruction gone out from Iraq to Syria, and they must be found and returned to safe hands,” Mr. Sada said. “I am confident they were taken over.”

So, it appears that our intelligence agencies were correct. So were the intelligence agencies of England, Germany, France, etc. who all concluded that Saddam had WMD. Of course, the reason why the media isn’t reporting this information is that this means that Bush was right, too.

Gallup: Bush Approval Higher Than Obama's

What can I say? Awesome.

George W. Bush’s job approval rating as president has spiked to 47 percent, according to a Gallup poll released Monday.

That’s 1 point higher than President Barack Obama’s job approval rating in a poll taken the same week.

This is the first time Gallup asked Americans to retrospectively rate Bush’s job performance. And it was a stunning turnaround from his low point of 25 percent in November 2008. The 47 percent number is 13 points higher than the last Gallup poll taken before Bush left office in 2009 and the highest rating for him since before Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Obama has been doing wonders for Bush’s legacy. While the media conspired to take down Bush during his eight years as President, the truth has a longer shelf  life than spin.

New Plame Movie: File Under Liberal Fantasy

Even the Washington Post recognizes that the new movie about Plamegate ignores the facts of the true story.

In fact, “Fair Game,” based on books by Mr. Wilson and his wife, is full of distortions – not to mention outright inventions. To start with the most sensational: The movie portrays Ms. Plame as having cultivated a group of Iraqi scientists and arranged for them to leave the country, and it suggests that once her cover was blown, the operation was aborted and the scientists were abandoned. This is simply false. In reality, as The Post’s Walter Pincus and Richard Leiby reported, Ms. Plame did not work directly on the program, and it was not shut down because of her identification.

The movie portrays Mr. Wilson as a whistle-blower who debunked a Bush administration claim that Iraq had tried to purchase uranium from the African country of Niger. In fact, an investigation by the Senate intelligence committee found that Mr. Wilson’s reporting did not affect the intelligence community’s view on the matter, and an official British investigation found that President George W. Bush’s statement in a State of the Union address that Britain believed that Iraq had sought uranium in Niger was well-founded.

“Fair Game” also resells the couple’s story that Ms. Plame’s exposure was the result of a White House conspiracy. A lengthy and wasteful investigation by a special prosecutor found no such conspiracy – but it did confirm that the prime source of a newspaper column identifying Ms. Plame was a State Department official, not a White House political operative.

This just goes to show you how the left need Hollywood to distort history in their favor. The left’s version of Plamegate has been debunked so many times, and yet, even now, in 2010, they are trying to sell their version, and hoping the public will pay money to see it on a big screen.

'Decision Points' Sales "Booming"

Some great news to report to my fellow Bush fans: Decision Points is flying off the shelves!

The Decider has written a blockbuster.

Random House Inc. says former President George W. Bush’s “Decision Points” sold 775,000 copies through its first week of publication. Random House made the announcement Tuesday.

In the book, the two-term president discusses the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, his decisions to send troops to Afghanistan and Iraq and the response to Hurricane Katrina.

An initial print run of 1.5 million copies has been increased to 1.85 million. E-book sales alone are 100,000.

If you haven’t got your copy yet, I urge you to order it now.  If you need more convincing, you can read my review, posted here.

Review: 'Decision Points' by George W. Bush

Most of you probably know that my claim to fame in the blogosphere was starting Blogs For Bush back in 2003. In less than a year the site became one of the most highly referenced and highly visited political blogs of the 2004 presidential campaign season. My support for George W. Bush hasn’t waned, even though I haven’t always agree with the decisions he’s made. Since he left office I have been looking forward to the eventual publication of his memoirs. So, you can imagine how excited I was to finally start reading Decision Points when it was published last week.

Decision Points, unlike traditional memoirs chronicle the more consequential decisions he made during his life and presidency. As a supporter who didn’t always agree with his decisions, I was glad he chose to structure his memoir that way. I wasn’t expecting his words to change my mind, but it did offer fresh glimpses into the process he went through to reach the conclusions he did. Because of this memoir is even more important for his critics to read the book, and I highly suggest they do.

Decision Points also ties in stories from Bush’s personal life which would influence consequential decisions. When you learn about how his sister’s death, and his mother’s miscarriage during his youth built the foundation for his pro-life views, you understand more about his his position on stem cell research and abortion.

There are lots of interesting new facts that have been revealed in this book, and I certainly don’t want to spoil the experience of reading them yourself to learn them. But there are a few things I want to talk about.

Reading Chapter 5, “Day of Fire” gave me chills. And President Bush goes into a lot detail about the events of and following 9/11, from his initial reaction sitting in the classroom at Emma Booker Elementary School, to believing that Flight 93 had been shot down on his orders, his infamous visit to Ground Zero, and so on. You can’t help remembering that day, and what it was like for you. To get President’s Bush’s story was not only enlightening, but crucial to understanding so many decisions that followed that would ultimately define his presidency. In some ways, in was frustrating to continue reading how so many in Washington DC were slowly losing their resolve to do everything necessary to defeat terrorism. Often times, Bush had to make what would become unpopular decisions. But his resolve never wavered. When you read his account of 9/11, and understand the unique burden he had being President when the nation was under attack.

After nearly two years of waiting, Decision Points does not disappoint. It reinforced my feelings that we should be grateful as nation to have had the right leader in charge during such a consequential period in our country’s history.

I hope one day to meet George W. Bush. I hope I one day get to thank him in person for his leadership during a turbulent time for our country. After reading Decision Points you’ll have a better understanding of how turbulent they were, because while we all had opinions about what was going on and what should or shouldn’t be done, George W. Bush had the responsibility to act on behalf of a country moving into uncharted territory.

Reading Bush's Memoir

As of a few minutes ago, I am midway through chapter 10 in Decision Points, by President Bush. I’m not gonna talk much about my thoughts on the memoir until I have finished, but I will say it’s a great read, and I encourage our readers (even the liberal ones) to read it. Even Bill Clinton has praised the memoir.

While an in depth review is coming soon, I would like to hear from those of you who are in the process of reading it, and to give your initial thoughts.
