So Much for Equal Time at the Health Care Summit

I don’t know if you are watching the Health Care Reform Summit today…  But, just to show you how much of a sham it is, I’d like to bring up how Obama suggested he cut Republicans “some slack” by allowing  Senator Alexander to apparently go over his allotted time for his opening remarks. Obama said, “Both I and Lamar went a little bit over our original allocated time. I — not wanting to be a hypocrite — wanted to give you some slack.”

Let’s see just how much of a hypocrite Obama is…

Senator Alexander’s opening remarks lasted 13 mins, 10 seconds
Barack Obama’s lasted 14 mins, 36 seconds
Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s lasted 7 mins, 57 seconds
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s  lasted 8 mins, 13 seconds

So Democrats’ opening remarks lasted 30 mins, 46 seconds compared to the GOP’s 13 minutes, 10 seconds. Democrats needed more than double the time to grandstand about a bill that the American people don’t want.

For Lamar Alexander’s remarks, see the extended entry: Continue reading

What's Really In The CBO Report on the Stimulus?

Before Democrats and Obamabots start claiming that the latest CBO Report, which claims as many as 2.1 million jobs were “created” because of the stimulus, one has to look beyond the headlines and at the actual text of the report.

p. 1

First, some of the reported jobs might have existed in the absence of the stimulus package.

p. 3

One factor that could make the reported figure too high is that recipients’ reports may include some employment that would have occurred without ARRA.

Perhaps the most telling thing is a footnote  on page one.

The number of jobs and other information compiled from recipients’ reports are shown at http://www.recovery.gov. A year of full-time-equivalent employment is 40 hours of employment per week for one year.

Oh really? Recovery.gov? The same site that has been criticized for being full of inaccurate data? The same site that reports on phantom jobs in phantom districts? Back in November, ABC NEws reported the following:

The White House’s Web site claims that more than 640,000 jobs have already been saved and created by the ” $787 billion stimulus program.

The reports used to come up with that number are riddled with errors. In addition to the jobs in non-existent congressional districts reported Monday by ABC News, in real congressional districts, there are also problems, lots of them.

Moore’s Shoes in Campbellsville, Ky., claims nine jobs were created from an $890 grant for nine pairs of work boots for the Army Corps of Engineers.

Head Start of Augusta, Ga., claimed 317 jobs with a $790,000 grant, but it was really just a one-time raise to its 317 employees.

So it’s no wonder the CBO Report doesn’t exactly reflect any confidence in the accuracy of it’s findings.  By it’s own admission data was limited, and there’s no way to tell how the economy would have performed without the stimulus. Of course, the biggest factor, I think, is that the source of their data, recovery.gov, is full of false figures designed to make the stimulus appear to be producing positive effects on the economy.

Dick Cheney Hospitalized

Fox News has the breaking story.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney has been hospitalized with chest pains, Fox News confirms.

The 69-year-old Republican, who served as Vice President from 2001 to 2009 in the administration of George W. Bush, was said to be resting comfortably Monday at George Washington Hospital, Washington D.C.

“His doctors are evaluating the situation,” a statement from his office said.

We at Blogs For Victory offer our prayers for Dick Cheney’s health. We will keep you posted.

IRS Attack Proves Biden Was Dead Wrong

Joe Biden recently said that a another 9-11-type attack was unlikely.

Well, yesterday’s incident in Austin where nut-job Joseph Stack flew into a building targeting the IRS proves just how wrong Biden was.

If one desperate man can do such a thing, even posting up hi s suicide note online prior to his actions, are we supposed to believe that Islamic extremists, more dedicated to attacking America and in much larger numbers can’t pull enough another attack if we let our guard down?

Biden’s attitude is what the terrorists need to succeed. Our complacency paves the way for vulnerability.

BHO Outspends FDR As He Talks About Fiscal Responsibility

We all expected this explosion of spending under Obama, but could we really have predicted that he’d spend away the future while simultaneously pontificating about fiscal responsibility?

After he signed a law last week authorizing the U.S. Treasury to borrow an additional $1.9 trillion, President Barack Obama delivered a characteristically sanctimonious speech. It was about his deep commitment to frugality.

“After a decade of profligacy, the American people are tired of politicians who talk the talk but don’t walk the walk when it comes to fiscal responsibility,” he said. “It’s easy to get up in front of the cameras and rant against exploding deficits. What’s hard is actually getting deficits under control. But that’s what we must do. Like families across the country, we have to take responsibility for every dollar we spend.”

To put Obama’s Olympian hypocrisy in perspective, one need only examine the federal budget tables posted on the White House website by Obama’s own Office of Management and Budget.

They reveal these startling facts: When calculated by the average annual percentage of the Gross Domestic Product that he will spend during his presidency, Obama is on track to become the biggest-spending president since 1930, the earliest year reported on the OMB’s historical chart of spending as a percentage of GDP. When calculated by the average annual percentage of GDP he will borrow during his presidency, Obama is on track to become the greatest debter president since Franklin Roosevelt.

It’s amazing, isn’t it? How can someone so blatantly say one and do another and get away with it? One has to conclude that either Obama is a pathological liar, or insane.

52 Percent Say Obama Doesn't Deserve A Second Term

Hell, I say he never deserved a first.

52 percent of Americans said President Barack Obama doesn’t deserve reelection in 2012, according to a new poll.

44 percent of all Americans said they would vote to reelect the president in two and a half years, less than the slight majority who said they would prefer to elect someone else.

Obama faces a 44-52 deficit among both all Americans and registered voters, according to a CNN/Opinion Research poll released Tuesday. Four percent had no opinion.

It is unfortunate that he ever got to where he is in the first place. But it is somewhat comforting that American realize that Obama is just another fraud who talked the talk during the campaign, but has zero leadership skills, no bipartisan bones in his body, and an unpopular agenda.

November Keeps Looking Better

Senator Evan Bayh is retiring

Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh will not seek re-election this year, a decision that hands Republicans a prime pickup opportunity in the middle of the country.

“After all these years, my passion for service to my fellow citizens is undiminished, but my desire to do so by serving in Congress has waned,” Bayh will say, according to prepared remarks obtained by the Fix. He will make the decision formal at a press conference later today.

Bayh was first elected to the Senate in 1998 and was re-elected easily in 2004. National Republicans had recruited former Sen. Dan Coats to challenge Bayh in 2010 although polling suggested Bayh began the race with a 20-point edge. He also had $13 million in the bank at the end of the year.

Oh, and there’s this.

The Cook Political Report, one of the nation’s leading handicappers of congressional elections, now carries 10 Democratic-held seats in its most competitive categories — meaning that if Republicans sweep those race (and lose none of their own vulnerable seats), they will have a 51-seat majority. Cook, incidentally, moved Indiana from a lean Democratic seat to a lean Republican seat in the wake of the Bayh news.

2010 is going to be a good year indeed.
