Who Is Really To Blame for the Current Economy?

ConservativeGal explains:

Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress, and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democratic Party. They controlled the budget process for FY 2008 and FY 2009, as well as FY 2010 and FY 2011. In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases. For FY 2009, though, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the FY 2009 budgets.

And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete FY 2009

And, if you didn’t know this already, Obama was still a member of the Senate when Congress passed those spending bills… and ultimately signed the omnibus bill after taking office.

The truth hurts sometimes, and the truth is, Obama voted for and signed into law the current deficit, which he continuous to expand to this very day.

Obama Wants To Track You Via Your Phone Calls

because you don’t have a reasonable expectation of privacy.

Even though police are tapping into the locations of mobile phones thousands of times a year, the legal ground rules remain unclear, and federal privacy laws written a generation ago are ambiguous at best. On Friday, the first federal appeals court to consider the topic will hear oral arguments (PDF) in a case that could establish new standards for locating wireless devices.

In that case, the Obama administration has argued that warrantless tracking is permitted because Americans enjoy no “reasonable expectation of privacy” in their–or at least their cell phones’–whereabouts. U.S. Department of Justice lawyers say that “a customer’s Fourth Amendment rights are not violated when the phone company reveals to the government its own records” that show where a mobile device placed and received calls.

So, what do you think? Democrats were up in arms when Bush wanted to tap the calls of terrorists who want to attack our country… Obama wants to track American citizens because we have no “reasonable expectation of privacy.”

Bring Back Bush. Down with Big Brother.

White House Predicts 95K Jobs Per Month in 2010

Yeah, they also said the stimulus would keep the unemployment rate below 8 percent.

The United States is likely to average 95,000 more jobs each month this year, while personal savings will remain high as credit remains tight, according to a White House report released Thursday.

The Council of Economic Advisers also trumpeted the $787 billion economic stimulus package, which it said has saved or created about 2 million jobs.

In a message to Congress, President Obama pointed out that the economy he inherited was losing 700,000 jobs each month.

“I can report that over the past year, this work has begun. In the coming year, this work continues,” Obama said in a letter he sent to the Capitol attached to his economic update to lawmakers. “But to understand where we must go in the next year and beyond, it is important to remember where we began one year ago.”

You know, Obama attacked Republicans by falsely claiming they offered no ideas of their own on health care and saying that opposing everything isn’t leadership. Well, guess what Barry, blaming your predecessor isn’t leadership. It’s passing the buck.  Pushing these ridiculous “jobs saved or created” numbers all the time isn’t leadership, it’s lying to save your ass.

It is time for Obama to start accepting responisible for economy he made worse. With millions of jobs lost on his watch, the people are going to have no interest in saving his job in 2012.

Best. Billboard. Ever.

Gotta love it.

Internet chatter had led to speculation that it might be an urban myth — nothing more than clever digital trickery spreading via the Web.

But our friend Bob Collins at Minnesota Public Radio assures us he’s seen it with his own eyes:

There is a billboard along I-35 near Wyoming, Minn., with a huge photo of former president George W. Bush and this question: “Miss Me Yet?”

Now, the push is on to find out who paid to have it put up.

Bob says there’s no readily apparent claim of ownership on the billboard, so he’s heading back to the scene to see if he can find out who’s behind the message. He’s also got some local politicos looking into it. He’ll keep us posted.

At first glance, it would seem to be from some person or group who isn’t thrilled by President Barack Obama’s performance so far — unless it’s a more ironic message from those who didn’t think too much of Bush and want to remind voters about him.

I wish I could say it was me.

Where Are The Jobs, Barry?

Well, the new numbers are out… Unemployment remains teetering around ten percent — even though Obama said it wouldn’t go above 8 percent — and even the though the unemployment edged down a bit, 20,000 jobs were lost, we’ve still lost 8.4 million jobs in this recession. How many jobs “saved or created” does that come out to?

Is Barry proud of this? Is this a solid B-plus economy? Is 16.5 percent underemployment the best this administration can deliver?

UPDATE: Past Deficits vs. Obama’s Deficits in Pictures

UPDATE, by Mark Noonan: Mish breaks down the job numbers:

In the continuing theater of BLS absurdities, the unemployment rate fell to 9.7% in spite of a 25th consecutive month of job losses. Some stopped counting at 22 months in November. However, I find November questionable.

This month professional services contributed 44,00 jobs to the plus side, but 52,000 of them were part-time jobs. Amazingly a table below shows the number of part-time workers decreased by 849,000 from last month. Go figure.

Moreover, the so-called 64,000 rise in November can be attributed to the seasonally adjusted hiring of 94,000 temporary workers…

Read the whole thing.

Me: I’m doubtful about this 9.7% number – it just doesn’t make sense given that we’re still shedding jobs and I can’t imagine that many people getting discouraged while there was a recent extension of unemployment benefits (once your benefits run out, you’re no longer counted as unemployed, even if you haven’t got a job). There’s always been a bit of BS in the unemployment numbers but it still has been a useful metric because it used the same methodology all the time, and thus you could at least spot the trends (ie, is unemployment going up, or going down?)…but now, I’m not so sure. I wonder if someone is playing around with the number of discouraged workers? The more such there are, the better the official unemployment rate looks…and who really gets to say who is “discouraged”? Given the rank dishonesty of the Obama Administration, its easy to believe they are faking the numbers.

Obama Merch Stops Selling

I love it.

One sign that Washington, D.C., had been home to Obama Mania was the number of independent retailers selling all sorts of Obama merchandise. Every street corner, it seemed, had Obama wares (or Obama wear) for sale
. Now, however, most of the winter caps for sale are not emblazoned with the Obama logo. T-shirts depicting our president as a dunking Michael Jordan, a victorious Muhammad Ali, or saber-baring Luke Skywalker (yes, these shirts all existed) are nowhere to be found.

This time last year, the Obama Store was teeming with customers. Ideally situated in the basement of Washington’s Union Station, the store was filled with consumers eager to buy anything with Obama’s likeness while others took pictures of the life-size cut-outs of the president and first lady. Now, the Obama Store is boarded up.

How quickly things change in a year.

So, we got Democrats in reelection battles distancing themselves from Barry, and now Obama merchandise is becoming dollar store junk items. Hard to believe? Well, given the absolute failure of his administration, it is actually quite understandable. After all, in 2012, when he runs for reelection, his new slogan will have be “No, We Couldn’t” and that just doesn’t have the same appeal as “Yes, We Can.”

Democrats Distancing Themselves From Obama Already

I never expected this to happen… After Obama’s blasphemous victory in 2008, I figured his adoring supporters would never turn on him, and his party would sitck by him loyally as he destroyed the country.

Well, it appears that Democrats are actually distancing themselves from Obama as a they desperately try to cling to their elected positions.

In office only a year, and he’s already a liability. Gotta love it.

A Trip Down Memory Lane

When Blogs For Bush became Blogs For Victory, we switch blogging platforms. Blogs For Bush was Movable Type, while Blogs for Victory, it was decided, would be WordPress. Since then, it has been my intention to migrate the old content from Blogs For Bush into WordPress… but the huge amount of content made the export/import process very cumbersome.

Around mid-December, I tried to give it another shot. Slowly but surely, I managed to import the content, small chunks at a time. As of this now, I have imported all of the content from the launch to the end of 2004. I still have all the archives from 2005-2007 to do, but I am pleased to present to you, for now all that has been restored.

So, for our longtime fans who has stuck with us, and to our new fans that are interested in the origins of Blogs For VIctory, I present to you, Blogs For Bush: October 2003 to December 2004.

Obama Orders Terror Trial Out of NYC

Well, looks like Obama got the message

White House officials have told the Justice Department to consider other venues for the 9/11 terror trial that was to be held in lower Manhattan, the Daily News has learned.

The decision came after Mayor Bloomberg and other politicians across the state railed against President Obama’s plan to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in Manhattan Federal Court.

Attorney General Eric Holder now has to think of other places where the trial could take place, officials said.

Something tells me, given the outrage by pretty much everyone outside of his administration, that Obama decided to do this a while ago… but chose to wait until after the State of the Union… the day after, no less…

State of Union: Obama, You Lie

I didn’t plan to watch. But I did… I felt dirty afterwards. It was so partisan, full of lies… This guy is such a narcissist. He still is trying to convince people he saved jobs when we’ve lost millions and the unemployment rate is in double digits.

I really can’t say more now… I am still so disturbed by Obama’s lack of respect for the office of the presidency.

UPDATE, by Mark Noonan: Anyone who wants an alternative to Obama’s blather can do no better than Governor McDonnell’s response:

The circumstances of our time demand that we reconsider and restore the proper, limited role of government at every level.

Without reform, the excessive growth of government threatens our very liberty and prosperity.

In recent months, the American people have made clear that they want government leaders to listen and act on the issues most important to them.

We want results, not rhetoric. We want cooperation, not partisanship.

There is much common ground.

All Americans agree, we need a health care system that is affordable, accessible, and high quality.

But most Americans do not want to turn over the best medical care system in the world to the federal government…

UPDATE II, by Mark Noonan: Uh, Barry, you shouldn’t be ripping the Supreme Court during a SOTU speech while they’re all sitting there – ’cause now you got another “you lie” moment.

UPDATE III, by Mark Noonan: If you’d like to see how a good President does it.
