Newsweek's Evan Thomas Calls Obama God

Scary.

Rob Port put it best, “We fought the American revolution to reject the idea of monarchs leading by divine right. Now, two and a half centuries later, we’re back to our political leaders being gods.” Sad isn’t it? But, as I have said many times before, the left’s desire to canonize Obama makes him extraordinarily dangerous. He is, perhaps, the biggest threat to our country’s prosperity, freedom, and security in history.

UPDATE, by Mark Noonan: From Powerline

Yes, that’s Obama all right–“standing above the world.” Good Lord. Reporters are often compared to teen-age girls with crushes on Obama, but, as the father of three present, former or about-to-be teen-age girls, I object to the analogy. I personally have never seen a teen-age girl make a fool of herself over a boy the way many–most–mainstream reporters have over Barack Obama.

Europeans Rejecting Socialism…

perhaps in three and a half years Americans will too

The economic recession should have meant easy votes for Europe’s left-wing movements, longtime critics of unchecked capitalism.

Yet as Europe goes to the polls, left-leaning parties across the continent are looking likely to falter. That’s true both for those in government, such as in the U.K. and Spain, and in the opposition — such as France, Germany and Italy.

France’s Socialist Party is trying hard to rally voters ahead of Sunday’s European parliamentary elections. “Let’s unite with all the French who contest free market, unfair policies that aim at deregulating everything,” party leader Martine Aubry urged at a pre-election rally.

Yet less than 20% of voters say they plan to cast their ballot for the Socialist Party, according to recent surveys. That would be a weak performance considering France’s main opposition party got 29% of the votes in the last European parliamentary elections.

In Germany, the Social Democrats are expected to get only around 26% on Sunday, consistent with their low opinion-poll ratings ahead of Germany’s national elections in September. Italy’s center-left Partito Democratico is expected to get a similar percentage.

One reason is that as Europe tipped into recession, the right moved left — appropriating some of the left’s long-standing economic policies, including nationalizations and bailouts.

French conservative President Nicolas Sarkozy, for example, helped recapitalize French banks, earmarked six billion euros for the auto sector and lashed out at “rascal bosses” with huge pay packages.

So, my friends, there is hope for us too. Socialism will truly become a failed experiment in America… and the Democrats, who are rapidly bringing this country and its economy down, will find the voters less accepting of the government running businesses and every other aspect of our lives.

This news out of Europe is somewhat promising. If conservative parties can attract voters with a centrist platform in Europe, then perhaps there is a rightward shift happening across the continent, that may result in reversals of left wing policies in the long term.

Capitalism will prevail. Freedom will prevail. All we have to do is remove Obama and the Democrats from power.

More Than Half A Million Jobs Lost In May

Aren’t you glad the stimulus worked?

U.S. private employers chopped more than half a million jobs in May, signaling job conditions remain tough and dashing some hopes the economy was not deteriorating as rapidly as thought, a report on Wednesday showed.

U.S. companies axed 532,000 jobs last month, though this was fewer than the revised 545,000 jobs lost in April, according to the ADP National Employment Report.

The April figure was originally a decline of 491,000.

The median forecast of economists surveyed by Reuters for the ADP Employer Services report, jointly developed with Macroeconomic Advisers LLC, was for a loss of 520,000 private-sector jobs in May.

Obama said the stimulus would prevent the unemployment rate from going over 8 percent. It hit 8.9% according to the last jobs report… So, once again, we spent a whole lot of money that did a whole lot of nothing… But hey, don’t blame me… I voted for McCain.

Some American Issues

As you may know, I am on the blogging team at American Issues Project, where I blog mostly about energy issues, as well as local issues out of New York State and Massachusetts… Here are a few recent posts
I will soon be starting another blogging gig, where I’ll be talking about health care issues… more on that later…

Lots to be discussed on this issue. More to come later, but do share your thoughts here.

Just to show how entirely unfit she is to be a Justice, here’s a modification of one of her racist statements:

Congressional Democrats Defy Obama on Gitmo

Obama may be anxious to bring terrorists into this country, but even members of his own party aren’t jumping to make that happen.

President Barack Obama shouldn’t have assumed his Democratic allies in Congress were willing to pay for the shutdown of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. They weren’t, at least not without a plan.

Two top Obama allies called the approach a mistake. The president’s Republican critics called the rebuke a reason to keep open the detention facility for suspected terrorists. And Obama’s top military adviser called for more details.

What emerged for the White House was a clear choice: If Obama wants to close Guantanamo, he’d better come up with a step-by-step plan. Otherwise, the 240 suspected terrorists stay at the U.S. Navy-run base.

Once against, the leftist campaign promises of Obama meet the realities of the real world and find they just don’t mix.Congr

Obama Plays Golf on Memorial Day?

Really, Barry? Really? According to a White House pool report, posted on Drudge Report:

Subject: Pool report 5/25/09

POTUS is, reportedly, golfing with Marvin Nicholson. No actual glimpses of the presidential golf game. Aides say POTUS paused at 3 p.m. to observe a moment of silence.

The jerk won’t let Memorial Day get in the way of his golf… sounds like Bill Clinton, who passed up the chance to get Osama bin Laden so his golf game wouldn’t get interrupted.

When You've Dug Yourself Into A Hole, You Should Stop Digging

This is good advice for Nancy Pelosi, who has  changed her story regarding what she knew and was told about “enhanced interrogation” techniques several times.

Her most recent outrageous claim was that she was misled by the CIA — a claim that CIA director and Obama appointee Leon Panetta outright refuted

Well, she has changed her story again, and is now blaming Bush.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi responded Friday to CIA Director Leon Panetta’s public disagreement with her charge that she was misled by the agency on the use of waterboarding and other aggressive interrogation techniques.

“We all share great respect for the dedicated men and women of the intelligence community who are deeply committed to the safety and security of the American people,” she said in a statement issued by her office. “My criticism of the manner in which the Bush Administration did not appropriately inform Congress is separate from my respect for those in the intelligence community who work to keep our country safe.

Pathetic. How can someone keep changing their story and expect to be taken seriously?
