Obama's Audacity Of Unawareness

The left feigned outrage when President Bush revealed that he didn’t read newspapers or watched television for news, but got his news from other sources.  I am sure you can remember the criticisms he got. Anyway, it appears that Obama isn’t getting any news from anyone, because the White House claims that Obama was “unaware” of the tax day tea parties.

Apparently Obama is either the world’s biggest incompetent or worst liar, because he is apparently unaware of a lot of things.

Comment Decorum

We’ve been getting a few complaints over the past few weeks about a number of regular commenters here, both liberal and conservative, and  so, before we start banning people left and right I want to offer this post as an advisory notice for everyone to keep things at a respectful tone. Seriously.

UPDATE, by Mark Noonan: Its been a long time in coming, boys and girls, and we’ve tried to be nice about it. But it has got out of hand. I just wanted to throw my two cents in and, also, be right out there saying that I’m in on this, too. Polite. Calm. Say the serenity prayer before you come in. Whatever it takes.

Surge In Tax Delinquency Widens Obama's Pool For Cabinet Nominees

Reuters reports an increase in first time tax delinquents as a result of the current recession.

As a deep recession strips Americans of their jobs, homes and investments, the 2009 U.S. tax season promises to see a large uptick in first-time delinquent income taxpayers.

“Our calls are up 280 percent,” said Richard Boggs, founder and chief executive of Los Angeles-based Nationwide Tax Relief, a firm that helps delinquent taxpayers resolve tax issues.

“We’ve seen a huge rise in what we call the rookie delinquent taxpayer,” he said. “They are incredibly scared, and they have no idea what’s going to happen to them because, God bless them, they’ve never owed before.”

The IRS, according to the story, “vowed to show its gentler side this year.” You think? The economy aside, with so many tax delinquents in or nominated for Obama’s cabinet, it would be hypocritical for the government to say it is okay for the Secretary of Treasury to be a tax delinquent, while throwing the book at middle-class taxpayers who are late to pay their taxes.

Of course, they can always just apply for a job in the Obama administration.

Obama's Warm Iraq Welcome With U.S. Soldiers Was Staged

This just goes to show you how little this has been reported on.

Macsmind first revealed the prescreening of solders last week.

[…] about that “surprise visit”.

It wasn’t. The visit was communicated a full 24 hours in advance and a small contingent of soldiers – not screaming hoards – were rustled into a meeting place at Camp Victory.

Got this email from a sergeant that was there.

“We were pre-screened, asked by officials “Who voted for Obama?”, and then those who raised their hands were shuffled to the front of the receiving line. They even handed out digital cameras and asked them to hold them up.”

Take a look at the picture at AP and notice all the cameras are the same models? Coincidence? I think not.

Flopping Aces and The Minority Report blogged about it a few days later. I only caught wind of this today. There’s not much more to say about thin that they haven’t said already, so check out their thoughts.

Did Obama Delay In Taking Action Against The Somali Pirates?

It sure felt like it me… and it appears that the Department of Defense was itching to nip it the bud well before Sunday.

President Obama’s reaction to the hostage drama involving a U.S.-flagged ship off the coast of Somalia was on the mind of a U.S. Congressman visiting Johnson County today.

U.S. Rep. Steve Buyer, R-Ind., was in the city for a news conference about his request for federal funding to help construct a new interchange at I-65 and Worthsville Road.

But Buyer made a point to talk about the rescue of U.S. Capt. Richard Phillips by Navy SEALS on Sunday.

Buyer said the U.S. Department of Defense had twice asked Obama for permission to use force against the pirates, who took Phillips from the Maersk Alabama on Wednesday and held him in a lifeboat.

“It is pretty stunning to me it had taken the president so long to say ‘OK’ to the Department of Defense to use force,” Buyer said. “Any time a captain of a U.S.-flagged vessel finds themselves in imminent danger, you shouldn’t have have had to ask that question.”

Buyer said Obama’s action during the crisis tipped the presidents’ hand at how he is going to act as commander in chief.

“He has shown the hand of appeasement,” Buyer said, “and he’s going to have to learn quickly that if he does not make these tough decisions when time is of the essence, that lives could hang in the balance.”

Obama was lucky this time that his hesitation didn’t cost an American lives. But this was a relatively small test of leadership, and Obama clearly failed to act quickly.

Pizza You Can Believe In?

It is nice to know while most of us are dealing with the realities of the slow economy, Barack Obama is enjoying the perks of his new job to the extent that our tax dollars are being used to fly in a pizza chef so he can get he pizza he likes.

BARACK Obama liked a restaurant’s pizzas so much he has flown the chef 850 miles to make some at the White House.

The US President got a taste for Chris Sommers’ pizza while campaigning in St Louis, Missouri, last year.

After Mr Obama’s election win, Chris offered to deliver frozen pizzas to the White House but was told he couldn’t because of security concerns.

So he took 20lb of dough and three gallons of sauce to Washington.

Because that is what it is all about everyone… Life, liberty, and the pursuit of pizza.

Contradicting Video Evidence, White House Denies Obama Bowed To Saudi King

In case you haven’t heard, Obama’s media disinformation machine at the White House is denying that Obama bowed to Saudi King Abdullah while at the G-20 Summit…

“It wasn’t a bow. He grasped his hand with two hands, and he’s taller than King Abdullah,” said an Obama aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The Washington Times called the alleged bow a  “shocking display of fealty to a foreign potentate” and said it violated centuries of American tradition of not deferring to royalty. The Weekly Standard, meanwhile, noted that American protocol apparently rules out bowing, or at least it reportedly did on the occasion of a Clinton “near-bow” to the emperor of Japan.

Interestingly, a columnist in the Saudi-backed Arabic paper Asharq Alawsat also took the gesture as a bow and appreciated the move.

Of course this explanation is actually contradicted by video of the incident, which undeniably shows Obama bowing, and the Saudi King actually looking down towards Obama, not at his eye level.

Click here for the video. Here is a screenshot, with King Abdullah’s line of sight illustrated.

That, my friends, is all you need to see. That was a bow. Obama bowed roughly 10-12 inches lower than the King’s eyes, much more than necessary if it were only to aid in the grasping of his hands. So the excuse by the White House is laughable.

Even Fox News Is Making Excuses For Obama

Why is everyone, even Fox News, making excuses for Obama’s inexperience and incompetence. I nearly puked when I saw this on FoxNews.com:

For several weeks now, there has been a lot of talk by pundits about whether Barack Obama has “too much on his plate.” I am sick of it. It is silly to think that Barack Obama has any more problem to deal with as any of his predecessors. To suggest such a thing trivializes the severity of the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Cuban Missile Crisis, or even 9/11. WE expect presidents to walk and chew gum at the same time, but when it comes to Barack Obama, all we get are excuses as to why he suddenly has so much more to deal with then apparently anyone else…

So, why all the excuses now? Well, obviously, Barack Obama, unlike his predecessors, is unqualified and too inexperienced for the job he has. But this is what America decided. Instead of an experience leader, known to be able to work with both parties, who had a lifetime of service for his country, a majority of voters felt some  young, inexperience part-time state senator who declared his candidacy for the presidency a mere 150 days of serving in the U.S. Senate, just because he can read a speech off of a teleprompter.

Well, this isn’t a campaign anymore. We have a real country to run with real issues. We expect a president to be ready on day one to deal with these issues. Instead, we have pundits and the media basically saying that we have a president who cannot handle the issues that most Americans would expect and demand any president to handle.

But no. We have Barack Obama, and a whole bunch of people who will continue to bake excuses for his incompetence.

Obama The Divider

Obama said he would unite this country. Well, he isn’t, according to Pew Researh Center. In fact, Obama has the widest partisan gap in his approval ratings of any president in the modern era.

For all of his hopes about bipartisanship, Barack Obama has the most polarized early job approval ratings of any president in the past four decades. The 61-point partisan gap in opinions about Obama’s job performance is the result of a combination of high Democratic ratings for the president — 88% job approval among Democrats — and relatively low approval ratings among Republicans (27%).

By comparison, there was a somewhat smaller 51-point partisan gap in views of George W. Bush’s job performance in April 2001, a few months into his first term. At that time, Republican enthusiasm for Bush was comparable to how Democrats feel about Obama today, but there was substantially less criticism from members of the opposition party. Among Democrats, 36% approved of Bush’s job performance in April 2001; that compares with a 27% job approval rating for Obama among Republicans today.

The partisan gap in Bill Clinton’s early days was also substantially smaller than what Obama faces, largely because Democrats were less enthusiastic about Clinton. In early April 1993, 71% of Democrats approved of Clinton’s job performance, which is 17 points lower than Obama’s current job approval among Democrats. Republican ratings of Clinton at that point (26%) are comparable to their current ratings of Obama today (27%).

I am sure the left will blame Republicans for not drinking the Obama Kool-Aid, but Obama is the one who has no record of genuine bipartisanship, and so far, he has done nothing substantive to reach out to Republicans. In fact he is using fear to push through a terrible budget and is already expanding to role of government in scary socialism-like ways.

While the partisan divide is part of a long term trend, Obama was the one claiming he’d be the one to end all that and bring this country together. Of course, he spent the whole of his campaign being as partisan as anyone could be, so this really doesn’t shock me at all.
