Senator Feinstein Reveals CIA Drones Operating From Within Pakistan

It appears that Senator Dianne Feinstein revealed secret information yesterday which complicates the war on terror….

A senior U.S. lawmaker said Thursday that unmanned CIA Predator aircraft operating in Pakistan are flown from an airbase inside that country, a revelation likely to embarrass the Pakistani government and complicate its counterterrorism collaboration with the United States.

The disclosure by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, marked the first time a U.S. official had publicly commented on where the Predator aircraft patrolling Pakistan take off and land.

At a hearing, Feinstein expressed surprise at Pakistani opposition to the ongoing campaign of Predator-launched CIA missile strikes against Al Qaeda targets along Pakistan’s northwest border.

“As I understand it, these are flown out of a Pakistani base,” she said of the planes.

The basing of the pilotless aircraft in Pakistan suggests a much deeper relationship with the United States on counterterrorism matters than has been publicly acknowledged. Such an arrangement would be at odds with protests lodged by officials in Islamabad and could inflame anti-American sentiment in the country.

Feinstein said through a spokesman that her statement “was based solely on previous news reports that Predators were operated from bases near Islamabad.” But, that doesn’t seem likely.

“If accurate, what this says is that Pakistani involvement, or at least acquiescence, has been much more extensive than has previously been known,” said Bruce Hoffman, a terrorism expert at Georgetown University. “It puts the Pakistani government in a far more difficult position [in terms of] its credibility with its own people. Unfortunately it also has the potential to threaten Pakistani-American relations.”

Nice going, Dianne.

Homegrown Jihad

Below is a a newly released terrorist training video by Sheik Muburak Gilani. He trains members of Muslims of America how to kill Americans, use guns effectively, betray Americans by gaining their trust, etc. They have 35 compounds throughout the U.S.

The video is part of Homegrown Jihad: The Terrorist Camps Around the U.S., a documentary that aired in DC this week.

The American public was never supposed to see Sheik Muburak Gilani’s terrorist training video, but the Christian Action Network managed to get a copy and reveal this shocking video in their documentary.

Copies of the documentary can be obtained at www.christianaction.org.

Cased Closed?

The Washington Times notes that the FEC complaint i filed against Hillary Clinton last year was finally taken up.

It was just over a year ago that conservative blogger Matt Margolis filed a formal complaint with the Federal Election Commission surrounding questionable fundraising practices by then-Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The complaint dealt with a $380,000 “cooks and dishwashers” fundraiser in New York, which sought campaign contributions ranging from $1,000 to $2,500. As Mr. Margolis pointed out, there was at least one donor who admitted to being an illegal immigrant, while another claimed she was illegally reimbursed for her contribution.

This week, the FEC took up the complaint – purporting “contributions were made in the name of another and contributions were made by foreign nationals” – and has now just ruled that it “found no reason to believe” Mrs. Clinton violated FEC regulations and “closed the file.”

It is worth noting that a significant part of the reason the case was “closed” was not so much because no wrongdoing was found, but because the complaint was based on news accounts, not “personal knowledge.” Some questionable donations were in fact returned.

$20 for NY-20

Republican activists around the country will be celebrating President Lincoln’s bicentennial in a special way this year.

From February 10th to the 12th, the online rightroots will be pushing an effort called, “$20 for NY-20.” Their goal will be to increase the number of small donors investing into a very winnable seat. Jim Tedisco is running for Congress to lead the fight for middle class families, small businesses and farmers that are the heart and soul of the District.

Lincoln’s bicentennial falls on the 12th, it’s only fitting that we take this opportunity to rebuild the Party by targeting the first real race of 2010.

NY-20 is a Republican district that we can take away from the Democratic supermajority. Jim Tedisco is the only candidate in the race for New York’s 20 Congressional District with a proven record of delivering real property tax relief, strengthening the economy, creating more jobs and reforming government so it’s more open, accountable and transparent to the taxpayers.

This is an effort that only adds to the momentum kingmakers like Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, and RNC Chairman Michael Steele have given to Tedisco’s Congressional bid.

Obama Abandons "Hope" For Fearmongering

Charles Krauthammer says it at:

“A failure to act, and act now, will turn crisis into a catastrophe.

— President Obama, Feb. 4.

Catastrophe, mind you. So much for the president who in his inaugural address two weeks earlier declared “we have chosen hope over fear.” Until, that is, you need fear to pass a bill.

[…]

After Obama’s miraculous 2008 presidential campaign, it was clear that at some point the magical mystery tour would have to end. The nation would rub its eyes and begin to emerge from its reverie. The hallucinatory Obama would give way to the mere mortal. The great ethical transformations promised would be seen as a fairy tale that all presidents tell — and that this president told better than anyone.

I thought the awakening would take six months. It took two and a half weeks.

Of course, Obama’s so-called hope was all bunk anyway, but what I want to know is when will his supporters recognize that Obama is in way over being president and doesn’t have the experience or (as the past couple months has made clear) the judgment to hold the office of President of the United States.

UPDATE, by Mark Noonan: And incoming CIA chief Panetta essentially says that rendition will remain and what liberals called “torture” will resume, if necessary. In other words, Bush Administration policy will continue. I expect all liberals to immediately call for Obama’s impeachment and trial for war crimes.

Because You Aren't A Genuine Obama Nominee Without a Tax Issue

Wow, I have to say, Obama just can’t seem to nominate someone without there being an ethics or a tax problem.

The husband of President Obama’s choice to head the Labor Department paid about $6,400 Wednesday to settle tax liens that had been outstanding for as long as 16 years against his business, the Obama administration said Thursday.
The disclosure came shortly before a scheduled 2 p.m. meeting of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, which will vote on U.S. Rep. Hilda Solis’ nomination as Labor secretary. The hearing was postponed to give the administration time to look into the tax matter and report back to the committee, said Anthony Coley, a spokesman for Sen. Edward Kennedy, the committee chairman. Solis is a California Democrat.

At a news conference, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs said of Solis: “I read the story in USA TODAY and it quotes somebody who works here. Obviously we know about the story. We reviewed her tax returns and her tax returns are in order. Her husband had an issue.”

I guess we’ll see… Nevertheless, in the wake of several tainted and botched nominations, this hardly makes the inexperienced numbnuts in the White House look any better.

Obama's Wall of Shame

Today brings the total to three Obama nominees who have had to withdraw their names from consideration due to scandals. Today’s newbies to the Wall of Shame are Tom Daschle and Nancy Killefer.

It seems like most (if not all) of Obama’s nominees have been tainted in someway. It certainly destroys Obama’s claim that what he lacks in experience he makes up for in judgment.

So I guess that leaves us with a president who has zero experience and really poor judgment.

Michael Steele Elected RNC Chairman!

Congratulations Michael Steele!

The Republican Party chose the first black national chairman in its history Friday, just shy of three months after the nation elected a Democrat as the first African-American president. The choice marked no less than “the dawn of a new party,” declared the new GOP chairman, former Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele. Republicans chose Steele over four other candidates, including former President George W. Bush’s hand-picked GOP chief, who bowed out declaring, “Obviously the winds of change are blowing.”

Steele takes the helm of a beleaguered Republican Party that is trying to recover after crushing defeats in November’s national elections that gave Democrats control of Congress put Barack Obama in the White House.

GOP delegates erupted in cheers and applause when his victory was announced, but it took six ballots to get there. He’ll serve a two-year term.

A month ago, my co-hosts and I interviewed Michael Steele on The American Resolve to discuss his bid for chairman. We are working on having him an again soon to discuss his victory.

UPDATE: Here’s a profile of the Man of Steele:

He was born at Andrews Air Force base in Prince George’s County, Maryland on October 19, 1958 and subsequently adopted. This African American child was then raised in a family of Democrats. His political turn to the Republican Party did not come from his having attained success in almost every endeavor he has undertaken, which he has. Rather, according to this well spoken and inspiring man, it came from watching the lived example of his mother, Maebell and hearing the convincing positions of a man named Ronald Reagan.

Michael Steele’s mother suffered a tragedy in 1962 when her husband, Michael’s father, died of liver disease. She went to work and through her sacrifice raised him and his sister on a minimum wage job. Her ethic of hard work and deep dedication to her children were an inspiration to her young son. They have also been replicated in him, according to those who know him best. He is considered one of the hardest working and most ethical public servants in American political life.

This is the story of America, writ large in the life of one man…he’s gonna flatten you Democrats, you just wait and see.

Bitch-Slapping Obama

The nearly $1 trillion “stimulus” package passed the House... but without a single Republican vote. Toby Harnden at the Telegraph (UK) says (and I agree) it is a slap in the face to Barack Obama.

President Barack Obama got the $825 (or $1.2 trillion over a decade) stimulus package through the House of Representatives but the 244 to 188 vote is a hollow victory indeed. Without a single Republican voting for the bill, his high-profile visit to Capitol Hill on Tuesday came to exactly naught – at least on the House side.

Obama vowed to change Washington and usher in a new post-partisan era. The the mood music and optics were pitch perfect as he trekked up to the Hill. Republicans praised his gesture, welcomed his sincere demeanour and appreciated his willingness to listen.

Problem was, he wanted only to listen and did not want to act on what Republicans said. When he was asked if he would re-structure the package to include more tax cuts, he reportedly responded: “Feel free to whack me over the head because I probably will not compromise on that part.”

He apparently added: ” I understand that and I will watch you on Fox News and feel bad about myself.”

That’s fine. No doubt Obama will indeed get beaten up on Fox News. But his failure to get even the squishiest moderate Republican  – including the 11 entertained in the White House by Rahm Emanuel last night – to back him is not merely a big score for Rep Eric Cantor, Republican Whip, and the rest of the GOP leadership.

Take that Barry.

Your Thoughts and Prayers III

Back in February 2007,  I asked our readers to keep my then-girlfriend (now fiancee) Beth in their thoughts and prayers when she had microvascular decompression surgery for trigeminal neuralgia. a nerve condition that causes really bad facial pains. Tommorow (Wednesday) morning at 8 am ET she will be having a second MVD surgery.  We were hoping this surgery wouldn’t be necessary… the pain had gone away for some time, but unfortunately came back on the other side. So, we are hoping this surgery will take care of it.

I’d like to ask everyone to keep her in your thoughts and prayers again. You are welcome to leave a note here and I will pass it along to her. Please leave political comments out of this thread. Thanks.
