A democrat is flummoxed as to why his own party is trying to silence him:

The man suing Sen. Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee for proof of Obama’s American citizenship is outraged that his own party – rather than just providing the birth certificate he seeks – would step in to silence him by filing a motion to dismiss his lawsuit.

As WND reported, prominent Pennsylvania Democrat and attorney Philip J. Berg filed suit in U.S. District Court two months ago claiming Obama is not a natural-born U.S. citizen and therefore not eligible to be elected president. Berg has since challenged Obama publicly that if the candidate will simply produce authorized proof of citizenship, he’ll drop the suit. Berg told WND the longer the DNC tries to ignore his lawsuit or make it go away – instead of just providing the documents – the more convinced he is that his accusations are correct.

Despite assertions by the Washington Post, FactChecker.org and other organizations that Obama has produced a certified Hawaiian birth certificate, Berg told WND he remains "99.99 percent sure" that the certificate is a fake and he wants a court, not a website, to determine its validity.

Earlier last week, lawyers for Obama and the DNC filed a joint motion to dismiss Berg’s lawsuit. The fact that the DNC joined in the dismissal request has Berg fuming, believing his party’s leaders have ignored his pleas for proof in order to favor their chosen candidate over a rank-and-file constituent.

"I think it’s outrageous," Berg said. "The Democratic National Committee should be ensuring the Democratic Party and the public that they have a qualified candidate up there. To file a joint motion is like they’re in cahoots.

"Since then, I have asked by way of press release that Howard Dean resign, because (the DNC members) are not fulfilling their duties," Berg said.

"The DNC has a responsibility to all Democrats in this country to make sure that all of their candidates are properly vetted and properly qualified," Berg added. "I think it’s really an outrage to the 18-plus million people who voted for Obama and the people who donated more than $425 million to him under false pretenses."

Why are you so surprised at the attempts to silence, barrister? Being the good little socialist and Chicago politician that he is, it should be plain to see by now that the Obama’s M.O. has never been to answer critics, but to silence them.

And the MSM will continue to whistle past the graveyard as a means to ensure that their annointed One sits in the White House come January.

Kinda sucks to be an honest democrat nowadays, doesn’t it?

Regarding the usurpation …err…bailout proposed by Congress:

COBURN:  We have a patient with cancer, and they have secondary pneumonia because of the cancer and we’re going to treat the pneumonia.  But we’re not going to fix the cancer.  We’re gonna ignore the cancer.  Let me tell you what the cancer is.  The cancer is Congresses for years upon years have totally ignored the Constitution of the United States and taken to us areas where we have no business being.  There is no way you can justify in the US Constitution that the country ought to be the source of mortgages for homeowners in this country, and yet Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac control 70% of the mortgages in this country.

If anybody in America is mad about this situation, there’s only one place they need to direct their anger, and it’s right in the Congress of the United States.  What we’re going to do is we’re going to continue to treat the symptoms rather than directly go after the cause that has created the greatest financial risk and peril this country has ever seen.  We’re not going after the cause.  The cause is get back within the bounds of the Constitution that very specifically says where we have business working and where we don’t.  We decided that we would ignore the wisdom of our founders and create systems that are outside the enumerated powers that were given to us because we know better, we know better.  We don’t know better, it is obvious.

This body continues to spend more, authorize more, and create bigger and more intrusive government, limiting the power of the great American experiment to in fact supply an increased standard of living.  We’re in tough times, but they’re going to get tougher until the American people hold this body accountable to live within the rules set out in a very wise, a very providential way that served this country well.  We ignore this book, this Constitution at our peril, we are reaping exactly what we have sown.

Indeed. The Senate has opened a Pandora’s box full of enough socialism to put our Constitution and all it stands for into a death throe.

It is my hope that there are enough Tom Coborns in the U.S. House to shut the door to this insidious box before it’s too late.

Before becoming a state legislator and then U.S. Congresswoman for MN CD-6, Michele Bachmann was a tax lawyer; so when it comes to things financial, unlike other congresscritters, she didn’t just fall off the turnip truck.

Today marks a historic moment for America as a solid bipartisan majority of Congress rejected the fatally flawed Paulson Plan. Standing shoulder to shoulder with taxpayers, we declared that we can do better.

"As I’ve stated previously, this plan was rushed, unworkable, and short-sighted. A majority of House Republicans have parted ways with President Bush on this plan and we demand that alternative proposals be put on the table. There is universal agreement that this plan was bad, but its supporters claimed it was the only option. There were alternatives available, but Speaker Pelosi and the Administration chose to ignore them and used every parliamentary trick in the book to stifle debate. Now, they will have to listen to the voices of American taxpayers who refuse to open their checkbooks to Wall Street to write a $700 billion check with no strings attached.

"I support a plan that would have Wall Street bail itself out, not hardworking taxpayers, by requiring institutions to insure troublesome assets that are causing today’s credit crunch. It would suspend mark-to-market accounting, which forces companies to take losses on artificially devalued assets on an artificial timetable, to give investors more confidence.

"The plan I support would break up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — government sponsored enterprises that are at the heart of this crisis — so that the encumbered taxpayer no longer backs them — implicitly or explicitly — and so that they do not artificially grow larger than the market will allow. We cannot pass legislation that sets America up for a Groundhog Day reprise of this mess and that means changing the problem at its core – the GSEs.

"Furthermore, the plan I support suspends capital-punishing tax rates to bring more capital into the U.S. markets rather than our foreign competitors. And, the plan ensures the Federal Reserve’s attention is focused on long-term price stability rather than short term economic growth. Finally, it requires the US Treasury to write rules keeping executives who made the risky decisions from personally profiting from them with excessive compensation or golden parachutes all at the expense of taxpayers. We can’t have a market that only condones risky behavior. The balance between risk and reward is an important part of the free market.

"My colleagues and I stand ready and willing to negotiate with any parties on a plan that will help stabilize our financial markets and relieve the liquidity crisis without exposing taxpayers to a $700 billion bailout debacle."

It is my fervent hope that cooler heads prevail, and a rush-to-action without forethought will not be the order of the day. But at the same time, we need to hold those who are accountable, accountable. As I commented on Noodles’ post:

If something is to be done, the blame game needs to be played. If we do not take stock of what was done wrong, history will invariably repeat itself. I’m just not willing to fork over 700 billion dollars and then forget about it, and go on back to "business as usual" only for the same thing to happen again 10 years down the road. Today, the stock market gained much of what it lost yesterday.. (so I don’t believe that a depression-era crash is imminent) Rome wasn’t built in a day, and this mess wasn’t created overnight. To go ahead and "do something" just because it’s expected is a fools’ errand. Time must be taken to come up with a comprehensive plan that will avoid the gladhanding and other crap that got us into this mess.

The bottom line is that the CEOs, congresscritters and their close allies who were involved in and complicit with creating this mess need to literally do a perp walk. This ‘closure’ of the issues will serve a two-fold purpose; first, it will let investors and retirement fund holders know that those who are guilty have been brought to justice; second, it will send a clear message that further abuses will not be tolerated.

As for the solution to actually getting out of this mess, I believe that Congresswoman Bachmann’s plan provides an effective roadmap toward economic recovery.

 

 

If you’re a lover of Freedom of Speech and the First Amendment, be very afraid of Barack Obama. The Obama campaign in Missouri has asked their fellow-travellers in law enforcement and attorney offices to aggressively pursue and to prosecute “…anyone who lies or runs a misleading TV ad during the presidential campaign. ” In American politics, I don’t make hyperbolic references to Stalinist or Nazi tactics, if at all. But in light of this directive from the Obama campaign, really, with what else can one compare this? Has the Obama campaign completely disregarded the First Amendment right to free political speech? Have they suddenly come up with their own Constitution?

Apparently, to the detriment of Barack Obama, Saul Alinsky left out the chapter regarding freedom of political speech in his book, “Rules for Radicals.”

We’ve just been alerted that despite House Democrats relenting on extending bans on offshore drilling and oil shale in the continuing resolution (CR) appropriations bill, Democrat Senate Leader Harry Reid has decided to sneak an extension of the oil shale ban through as Congress fights over the financial bailout. Oil shale in America’s West is estimated to hold be between 800 billion and 2 trillion barrels of oil — that is more than three times the proven oil reserves in Saudi Arabia alone.

As an aside, I just got off the phone with Reid’s office and asked the staffer why Reid is hellbent on sending us to the economic stone age, with his constant stonewalling of our ability to harvest our own resources.

The staffer replied that Reid’s energy policy is long term in scope.

I replied, "What about the short term? What good is the long term if in the short term we collapse economically, and have nothing to leave our kids? Why is Senator Reid constantly stonewalling our ability to harvest our own resources?"

The condescending, smarmy schmo replied, "Well, sir, that’s if you believe that more oil will help us in the short term."

Someday, someone will invent a machine whereby it is possible to slap someone upside the head via the telephone.

Until then, banging my head against the wall will have to suffice.

I swear, and I’ll say this professionally: Anyone who votes democrat in the upcoming elections ought to have their head examined.

Hell… how about a gaffe a second? See if you can spot them all in just this short sentence uttered by Joe Biden:

“When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened,'” Barack Obama’s running mate recently told the “CBS Evening News.”

Thank you, Barack Obama…for giving us conservative bloggers the gift that keeps on giving.

Never mind that Ahmadinejad seeks to annihilate a race of people. Never mind that this whackjob’s ability to perpetrate a nuclear holocaust is but a | stone’s throw in time away. Instead of admonishing and condemning his policies, what do liberal ‘religious’ groups do?

Why, they throw him a party, of course.

The nomination of Sarah Palin as Sen. John McCain’s Vice Presidential nominee has set the cause of feminism back 100 years.

You read right. The feminists are so flummoxed and perplexed that a conservative woman is stealing their thunder, that they’ve resorted to denying their feminist doctrine!

Take Whoopi Goldberg, for instance:

Whoopi’s article concluded by suggesting Gov. Palin’s speech reminded her of a German-American Nazi rally: “This girl is dangerous to me. This is a very dangerous woman, because I believe for her intents and purposes, she’s OK if everybody lives a certain way, that is to say, the way God ordained men and women to be. Well, already she’s breaking that because she’s the daddy. She’s going to run the country and the husband is going to take care of the kids. I just found the whole thing sad and very musty and very much like a Bund rally, but maybe that was just me.”

Yes, Whoopi, I think it is just you. But I digress.

So Whoopi has her panties in a knot (ooh… that evoked a nauseating picture) because a woman is living a feminist dream, and she’s a– gasp!! conservative!!! How dare a conservative woman attain the acme of an egalitarian’s dream! Dammit–she’s supposed to be home baking cookies!

‘Nuff Said.

Yesterday, I thought I had some impeccable information from inside sources, when I reported that it was almost sure that Tim Pawlenty would be McCain’s choice for Veep.

It appears that reports of such an occurrence were greatly exaggerated; however, at the time, the inside sources appeared to be sure of that occurrence, as well.

Nonetheless, I await to be pleasantly surprised by what will hopefully be the choice of Sarah Palin.

In a few hours we’ll all know the story.
