Our Mole in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard
July 9th, 2008 at 09:31am Mark Noonan
Pajamas Media has the story:
[Editor’s note: Pajamas Media has spoken with “Reza Khalili’s” attorney in Washington, D.C. who confirmed Khalili “had a working relationship with a US intelligence agency.” We have also seen a copy of the June 5, 2008 email sent by the agency’s “Manuscript Review” department authorizing the publication of this article.
In an interview with Roger L. Simon, “Khalili” further amplifies his accusation of Iranian involvement in Lockerbie and addresses the controversial question of whether the Shiite mullahs would form alliances with Sunnis. A transcript of the interview is here. More interviews with “Khalili” in disguised video form will be coming in the future from PJM. ]
The men who ordered the destruction of the Pan Am flight over Lockerbie and the bombings of the Marine Corps barracks in Lebanon, the Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, and the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia are pursuing the nuclear program in Iran and with one goal in mind: to obtain The Bomb.
And they want to destroy you.
After the Iranian Revolution, I was an officer in the Revolutionary Guards. I was also a spy working for the CIA, code name Wally. My position in the Guards gave me access to the Khomeini regime’s deep secrets and a firsthand look at the unfolding horror: torture, rapes, executions, assassinations, suicide bombers, training of terrorists, and the transfer of arms and explosives to other countries to support terrorist attacks. I risked my life and my family’s trying to expose this regime because I believed it should be stopped. Once again I incur such risks to bring awareness that lack of action endangers the world.
In the mid-80s, I reported to the CIA that the Revolutionary Guards’ intelligence unit had information that Saddam Hussein had made a strategic decision to acquire nuclear arms. I heard this from several sources within the Guards and also in a conversation with a member of the intelligence unit, who told me that the Guards were informed through arms dealers in the black market that Saddam was desperately looking for an atomic bomb. It was then that the Guards’ commanders and Iranian leadership decided to go nuclear and actively shop for components in the black market because they made a determination that the Iran-Iraq war could not have been won without a nuclear bomb. Mohsen Rezaei, then-commander of the Revolutionary Guards, requested permission from Ayatollah Khomeini to make Iran a nuclear power. Khomeini agreed…
Do read the whole thing - most of what is discussed is pretty well known to those who have paid attention over the years, at least in the sense that some of the horrible things which have happened (Lockerbie, eg) almost certainly had an Iranian origin. Its good to get some inside confirmation, but more important is the light this sheds on the attitudes of Iran’s leaders - the people Obama wants to talk to without preconditions, that is.
As Winston Churchill once pointed out, “jaw jaw is better than war war” - let us, indeed, talk to the Iranians till the cows come home (or the 12th Imam arrives, which ever is sooner) but let us also have no illusions: we’re dealing with a hodge-podge of human debris which is cowardly, corrupt, cruel and insane, with the added uncertainty of never knowing which element is predominant at any given time. For our advantage, “cowardly” and “corrupt” work best…dealing with greedy chickens is pretty easy, after all. But given that “cruel” and “insane” can pop up at any time we must keep our minds fixed on this one thing: The current Iranian government must not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons.
There is no set of circumstances where the world will be safer with nuclear-armed mullahs. There is no set of circumstances where military action to prevent such a thing will be worse than allowing the mullahs to obtain nuclear weapons. It is literally a matter of millions of lives - perhaps tens of millions - being at risk with a nuclear-armed Iran, while the life risk of military action would not run higher than into the tens of thousands, in the worst case scenarios (and, well done, would probably only risk into the low thousands). Do keep in mind that we never, ever have to invade Iran - military action would be naval and aerial, with some special forces work and, perhaps, some temporary landings on the Iranian coast to destroy missile and naval facilities. The bugbear the left throws at us of having to march on Tehran is just bluster designed to scare us off any action at all.
I would have preferred we dealt with Iran back in 2006, or 2007 at the latest - President Bush determined otherwise, and I hope to one day find out whether there was a really good reason for not acting. Be that as it may, its now mid-2008 and the mullahs are tooling along steadily towards a nuclear weapon (and, good people, there is no other possible interpretation on Iran’s nuclear effort - only the willfully blind could consider it as a peaceful use of nuclear energy); the next President will have to deal with this. And in so dealing, the next President - rather quickly in his term, I suspect - will have to decide whether he wants to allow Iran to obtain nukes (and thus place us in a junior-league, but much nastier, Cold War with the prospect of huge casualties if “insane” comes out on top), or if he wants to cut out the cancer by military action with a hope that by the time the mullahs can reconstitute their progam, they will finally have been overthrown by the long suffering - but increasingly restive - Iranian people.

This story is a MUST read. Once you’re finished reading, it will have frightened you. But, it is not like we have not known this for some years.
Another reason to vote for Sen. McCain this year. Could you imagine the alternative with Sen. Obama and his appeasement policy?

So my morning usually unfolds like this- I first catch up on the news of the day- Asia Times Online is without a doubt one of the best news sources next to the Gaurdian. Then I come here for my daily dose of B.S. So here we go.
The IAEA has brought the accusations that Iran has in their control, a document that includes information on how to make hemispherical metal out of enriched uranium, the center piece of any nuclear bomb. One, in 2003 the IAEA found this document stashed away in a bunch of boxes that contain the Kahn transaction in 1987 when the Iranian’s obtained there centerfuige technology. This document stored since 1987 does not provide schematics and specifications only the basic information on the hemispherical metal process- included by Kahn to entice the Iranian’s into purchasing the technology. In 2007 the IAEA said the issue of the document was resolved. They put the document under IAEA lock and seal and received a copy of it. Now just recently in 2008, under polical presure from the US and our allies, the IAEA has once again brought up the issue which has led to sanctions by Isreal.
So here we once again fear mongering and saber rattling in an attempt to get the American people to fall for another war. Though I seriously doubt that would happen again. Even in a longshot, the Iranian’s obtained a nuclear weapon, there attempt to brandish it and use it would result in their imediate destruction by Isreal, Pakistan, Russia, China, India, etc., etc., etc. But you all can continue fearing a darn third world country and I’m sure you will get your war before we are kicked out of Iraq. Congradulations.
As far as the Gaurd is concerned on their acts of “terrorism” are concerned. I’m pretty sure the groups for all of those attacks have either claimed responsibilty or have been found to have done so. Was the Gaurd the financiers for those operation, quite possibly. Though you have to realize that when we place our assets in foreign countries that completely oppose our pressence we will be attacked. So what if their governments have okayed the assests- they are not the people and often those governments are/were far more insidious and murderous that the Iraqi regime we ousted. This country would never stand for a foreign occupation on our soil but we expect other countries to accept us with open arms. Ignorance is never a good thing but it spreads here like a virus and many other places like a virus.
In closing, I don’t think that those who have been killed in these attacks were “asking for it” nor were those attacks justified. But don’t be suprised nor offended when the completely predictable happens. If you occupy foreign soil expect that people will want to kill you. Though I don’t expect many of you to understand that concept. Peace be with you.

In other news, make sure you proof read before you post- but you get the general idea. Peace be with you.

tuenup - interesting observation re the neos’ trust in foreign sources vs citizens.
I used to feel the administration was mistaken about nukes in Iraq.
The Frontline documentary “Bush’s War” presented reasonable explanations to believe the Neo cabal did in fact manipulate, cherry-pick, & invent the pre-invasion intel while willfully ignoring credible dissenting views.
As bad, Rummy proceeded to remove combat forces (w/o coordinating w the CIA) from Afghanstan just when our prime enemy, the AQ leadership cadre, was cornered in tora bora thus resulting in their escape & continued operations. the AQ top leadership shoulda been hauled in chains to the gallows at ground zero & hanged for all the world to see.
as it turns-out, Kerry was correct making this assertion about tora bora along w Scott Ritter’s observation that there were no nukes in Iraq.
and, the UN inspection teams were not deceived but also correct that Iraq’s nuke program was understood & poised no threat that justified invasion.
now the predictable result of the Neos willful & reckless malfeasance re Iraq is understandable skepticism re Iran’s extant nuke program.
lastly, the (shoulda been) first black President, Colin Powell, was damaged by his public statements at the UN. Powell’s service, military & civilian, meant more to this country than cheney, rummy, & wolfowitz COMBINED.
Powell should be the GOP nominee save for the Neos.

• 7. JPL | July 9th, 2008 at 2:10 pm “Riiiiiiiiiiight, the Iranian regime is perfectly…harmless.”
After Vietnam we learned that before committing our best and brightest to a cause many may die for we what to be certain the cause is just and the cause is a threat to our existence. Our government’s carefully orchestrated drama on national TV, headlined by the trustworthy Colin Powell illustrated Iraq had WMD and was ready to use them if not on us but on our allies in the region seemed to be just such a cause. By days end we were convinced diplomatic efforts had failed. With 60% of the population’s support Bush invaded.
Fast forward a year, Powell resigns after learning even he had been deceived by the necons. Fast forward to 2008, over 73% of the population has no faith the Bush/Cheney administration is telling them the truth. How sad and dangerous is this for a democracy.
Because of Bush’s deceit, for many it will take Condi’s mushroom cloud to make believers. And then the U.S will most likely eliminate Iran from the earth. But I must say, with that kind of deterrent, I doubt Iran would do anything stupid. But they may, who knows when you have a theology government, whose leaders are praying for death so they can meet a few virgins.
But the bottom line here is the fact Bush has made a mess of foreign policy. He should let the new administraion deal with Iran. I would feel safer.

“Fast forward a year, Powell resigns after learning even he had been deceived by the necons.”
This would be true if by “deceived” you meant “was given information that in hindsight appears to have been be inaccurate”, and if by “neocons” you included “Bill Clinton, John Kerry, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, world leaders such as Tony Blair, and every major intelligence agency in the world.”
“Because of Bush’s deceit, for many it will take Condi’s mushroom cloud to make believers…. But the bottom line [is that] Bush has made a mess of foreign policy. He should let the new administraion deal with Iran. I would feel safer.”
In other words, you’re willing to gamble the lives of 7.3 million Israelis — who would be the first target of the Iranian bomb — so you’ll “feel safer”? And even though you already know who the second target of the Iranian bomb would be? Distrust Bush all you want, but your reasoning seems the height of foolishness.

WE? You mean you and the mouse in your pocket? WE? I dont think you have a clue. We sent our best and our baddest to the line several times since vietnam…because we had too…its not about hindsight…everyone has an ass…and idiots that run around saying vietnam was not a just cause is about all the ass one nation needs…because trying to help others stay free and/or be free is always a just cause…and any moron that thinks otherwise…probably never put thier cowardly ass on the line to start with…

“Because of Bush’s deceit”
please…if you are going to make accusations, be specific…i dont think a single one of you liberal lemmings have proven that bush decieved anyone….and the gossips been running in fevered halfwits for years….and years….you all must have learned from the same gossip mongeror, because none of ya can get past the accusation part….

“The Frontline documentary “Bush’s War” presented reasonable explanations to believe ”
and if you go to iran they have a “reasonable explanation to believe” that the US of A is the “GREAT SATAN”….so conspiracy theories really dont mean much at all…except to the halfwits that are sucked in by them….

I just love how liberal lemmings will believe anything that allows their BDS to seem reasonable. The idea that we got bad intelligence because that is how Sadam wanted it to look is never an allowable defense. Sadam wanted everyone (especially Iran) to believe he still had WMD’s, even though he had not gotten them back yet. I would say that Sadam got what he deserved based on the image he was projecting.

js - did u even see “Bush’s War” on Frontline? Four hrs long, well documented, & not a hit piece.
if u still believe the Neos justification, then…where are the nukes?
20. neocon | July 10th, 2008 at 9:07 am
Ohio,
Was the possibility of nukes the only reason?
Wow, how incredibly dishonest.

neocon - (non-existent) nukes, possibly being given to terrorists, coupled w an Iraq/AQ pre-9/11 alliance (now discredited) were the justification for the invasion.
remember, regardless of party, all politicans must be accountable to WE THE PEOPLE.
for example, janet reno should still be in jail for culpability in the murder of innocent women & children at waco & ruby ridge.
and if cheney/rummy/wolfowitz committed malfesance re the intel to justify the invasion, they should be held liable as well.
remember, regardless of party, all politicans must be accountable to WE THE PEOPLE.
to thy own self be true.

Did you conveniently forget this?
January 1991 - a US-led coalition launches Operation Desert Storm against Iraq
under provisions of the UN security council.
The reason? The former US ally had invaded neighbouring Kuwait.
Now, a sequel to that war is in the works.
And the justification this time according to President George W Bush, “Iraq has answered a decade of UN demands with a decade of defiance.”
President Bush in a radio address said, “16 times the United Nations Security Council has passed resolutions designed to ensure that Iraq does not pose a threat to international peace and security. Saddam Hussein has violated every one of these 16 resolutions - not once, but many times.”

John McCain on Iran….
PITTSBURGH — Cindy McCain’s jab to her husband’s back came a second too late Tuesday to keep him from making a wisecrack about the health impact of Iran’s main import from the United States: cigarettes.
Republican presidential candidate John McCain was asked about an Associated Press report that $158 million in cigarettes have been shipped to Iran during George W. Bush’s presidency despite restrictions on U.S. exports to that country.
“Maybe that’s a way of killing them,” McCain told reporters, smiling as he waited for a cheesesteak sandwich at the Primanti Brothers restaurant. His wife, sitting next to him at the counter, poked his back without looking up.
“I meant that as a joke,” McCain quickly explained. “As a person who hasn’t had a cigarette in 28 years,” he began to say, when his wife corrected him: 29 years.
Taking a more serious tone, McCain said, “I’d like to look into” details of exports to Iran. “This is the first that I’ve heard about it,” he said.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKIt316Ajas
Someone in John McCain’s campaign needs to tell him that he’s not funny and that making crude jokes about killing innocent people is not presidential and inappropriate.
The article title should read: “McCain Makes Another Crude Joke About Killing Iranians?”
Just kill ‘em all, right, Senator? You can tell this guy can’t wait to have his finger on the buttons, can’t you? Had Barack Obama made this comment the corporate media would run with it, wall to wall for weeks.

neo - I served in Gulf 1, 1st Cav.
That was a righteous defence of an ally.
We’re talking the 03 invasion of Iraq.
I don’t believe the American people nor Congress would have supported the invasion w/o the nukes & AQ elements.
And neither did the Neos.
To thy own self be true.
26. neocon | July 10th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
I personally would have invaded Iraq on the defiance of the UN mandates alone.
But thank you for your service, and keep the Biblical references to yourself.

Just for histroy’s sake, Ruby Ridge happened in 1990- Janet Reno was not Bush 41’s A.G. it was Robert Barr, who was also the instigator in the Waco debacle untill Reno was confirmed.
Still like enforcing U.N. resolutions Neocon? The Iraqi’s seem tired of them, I mean U.S.
