Guess Obama is a Racist, After All

Well, that is the way it works, isn’t it? Do anything to oppose a black man in office, and that is proof of racism, right?

Embattled New York Governor David Paterson said on Sunday he was still running for office, in the face of reports that President Barack Obama had asked him to withdraw from the 2010 race for fear that he cannot regroup from a series of political setbacks.

“I am running for office,” Paterson told reporters at a Manhattan parade. “I’m not going to discuss confidential conversations,” he said, adding that he planned to continue focusing on matters related to the financial crisis.

The New York Times reported on Sunday that the Obama administration is worried Paterson’s unpopularity could drag down New York’s Democratic members of Congress and the Democratic-controlled state legislature in November 2010 elections.

Citing an administration official, the Times reported that Obama’s request that Paterson step aside was put forward by his political advisers, but approved by the president.

Of course, this means that Obama is a bit of a fascist, too – typical of modern liberals, he doesn’t want to let the Democrats of New York decide but, instead, wants to use political pressure to get the man he wants.

Wasn’t there a mention or two of “change” when Obama was running?

    Mark,
Could you please refer me to the statement or statements of prominent liberals that have stated that opposing a black man in office is racism? Because I haven’t heard anyone say that. If not, I will assume it’s just another talking point.

  2. Amazona says:

Oh, casper, you silly silly man. You sit there and watch comment after comment about clearly political opposition being labeled by the Left as racist, you probably hear the same talk shows on the radio where people call in to explain that the only possible reason to disagree with (pick any…) the “stimulus” package, cap and trade, the health care revisions, the Apology Tour, the heavily and radically Marxist cadre of advisors and czars and so on surrounding the President, comments about his domestic policies, comments about his international policies…….is, of course, racism.

Even up in casper Wyoming you have to have heard top-level Lefties whine about how ‘America is just not comfortable with having a black man in the White House’.

And on and on and on and on and on and on and on. And all you can do is carp about a paraphrase and demand, in all your fuzzy-minded kinda-Lefty feigned righteousness, for an absolutely literally accurate quote of the exact words.

Silly silly silly silly silly. And kinda sad. A grandfather who is a teacher ought to have developed an independent thought process by now.

  3. casper says:

    Amazona,
So in other words you don’t have a quote from anyone saying that opposing a black man is racism.
I rarely listen to talk radio any more, left or right, so I haven’t heard any of what you mentioned. Please direct me to some where that has transcripts saying that opposing a black man is racism. And no, I haven’t heard anyone say that America is just not comfortable with having a black man in the White House. That doesn’t mean there aren’t people who hate Obama because of his skin color. In fact, I’m pretty sure there are. I believe though that most of the people that disagree with Obama, disagree with his policies.

It is interesting how much you like to label people though. Racist, Marxist, czar. I’m guessing that you just aren’t very happy unless you can find a way to put someone in a little box. I do agree with a couple of your labels though. I am proud to be both a grandfather and a teacher.

  4. Amazona says:

casper, you lie. You simply lie. It is beyond belief that just because I didn’t take the time to do your own research for you, you lazy whiner, you claim something that is not true. I said I HEARD these comments, I said I READ these comments, and you, from your silly feeble non-position now claim that I “don’t have a quote”. I try to cut you some slack, as it is clear you are way over your head here, and not quite with it, if you get my drift. (After all, when a TEACHER is told that as a Liberal he is, in conservative Wyoming, an anomaly, and he responds with the comment that no he isn’t an anomaly, , his students love him, it is obvious that he is not firing on all cylinders.) But when you simply make stupid assertions and then misstate what I say, you exceed the tolerance level for fuzzy-minded old farts who want to posture as political pundits but who just don’t have what it takes to find out what they are talking about.

Here is what I got from about two minutes on google. I’ll bet that even an over the hill old teacher like you could find more if the truth had the slightest influence on you.
    ……………………………..

“New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd claimed that administration critics like South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson, who accused President Obama of lying during his health care address to Congress, are motivated by race.”

“Carter, though, is the highest-profile person so far to push that claim. Carter said Tuesday that Wilson’s outburst was “based on racism” and, more broadly, that “an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man.”
    Asked repeatedly about such assertions
Rep. Hank Johnson, a Democrat from Georgia, responded with “I guess we’ll probably have folks putting on white hoods again,” as the reason why Wilson should be admonished…”

    “3 Sept 09
Rep. Charles Rangel said Tuesday that “bias” and “prejudice” toward Obama are fueling opposition to health-care reform.

Those incendiary comments came on the heels of Paterson’s controversial comments about race that also mentioned the nation’s first black president.
“Some Americans have not gotten over the fact that Obama is president of the United States. They go to sleep wondering, ‘How did this happen?’ ” Rangel (D-Manhattan) said Tuesday.
Rangel said that when critics complain that Obama is “trying to interfere” with their lives by pushing for health-care reform, “then you know there’s just a misunderstanding, a bias, a prejudice, an emotional feeling.”

“Obama’s supporters have attributed racist motives to some opponents of his health care plan for weeks, but Carter is the highest-profile person so far to push that claim.
The suggestion that race is behind criticism of Obama has been made by New York Gov. David Paterson and Reps. Charlie Rangel of New York, Diane Watson of California and Hank Johnson of Georgia, among others.”

“The new apparent talking point for the left is that racism is the reason that people are opposed to President Obama and the policies that the Democrats are promoting. A variety of Democrats liberals have claimed this as fact in recent days including New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, Washington Post columnist Colbert King, New York Congressman Charles Rangel, Georgia Congressman Hank Johnson, DNC Chairman Tim Kaine, and just yesterday former President Jimmy Carter”
    …………………………………………………

And sweetie—do try to keep up, here…. OBAMA calls his 32 or so unvetted appointees czars. I know there is a good newspaper in Casper. I read it myself, and I know they have published articles about said czars.

A person who follows Marxist doctrine is a Marxist. What grade to you “teach”? I’ll bet one of your students could explain that to you.

And I only call people “racist” when they make racist comments, and I dare you to find more than a couple of times I have used that term to describe anyone. I believe I have called the Rev. Wright a racist, and Sotomayor, based solely on overtly racist comments they have, themselves, made.

Uh, duh, gramps, the thread is about Lefties using the term “racist” to smear all Obama opposition. Not about me, or any other conservative, using the term about anyone else.

As I said, do try to keep up. And do your own damned research.

  5. casper says:

Speaking of labels, I called the mom of one of my students last week to tell her what a great job her daughter is doing in my class (I do that a lot). The girl was thrilled because it was the first time a teacher has ever called her mom to say something nice. She’s had a lot of negative phone calls over the year. When I asked her why she had had problems in school, she said she has A.D.H.D. I told her that while that is true, she is using it as an excuse. If she can chose to do well in my class, she can chose to do well in other classes. I guess the point I’m trying to make is I’m not big on labels. I believe that in most cases we each decide how we want our lives to work out.

  6. casper says:

    Amazona,
I didn’t lie. I pointed out that you didn’t have a quote, which you didn’t. Also, none of the quotes you brought up stated that doing anything to oppose a black man in office is proof of racism. Only that racism is part of the opposition to Obama.
I know it’s hard to get your mind around, but there is a big difference between saying that ALL opposition to Obama is racially motivated (which is what you and Mark seem to be claiming the left does) and stating that some of the opposition to Obama seems to be racially motivated (which would seem to be true based on some of the comments and actions of some of those opposed to Obama.

Here’s a challenge for you. Just once, try responding to my remarks without the nasty comments or labels. I’m doubting you can. I think you are so full of hate you can’t have a rational conversation with someone you disagree with.

  7. Amazona says:

How sweet, Totally irrelevant to the thread or the posts, but very very very sweet.

So do your own research and find out what you are talking about instead of being lazy and oppositional and just mindlessly challenging people without knowing what you are talking about.

  8. Amazona says:

Nit picking nit picking nit picking—not exactly political discourse, cappy. As I said, do your own research.

I have heard people say that any opposition to anything in Obama’s adminstration is based on racism. Period. Often. On the radio, on television, in newspapers, on the blog here. It did not occur to me that anyone would demand—DEMAND—a quote and citation. We who pay attention do hear these comments. And let’s face it, even if I had pulled over and taken notes and given you the name of a show and the name of a caller and so on, you would still not let it affect you or your opinions.

Stop being an annoyance and actually start to contribute to the blog with something meaningful and I will be more tolerant of you. But you have never established your political bona fides, never explained where you sit politically, never defended a single policy or person based on a coherent political philosophy—all you do is snipe, and snidely demand that others do your work for you.

I am the farthest thing from being “full of hate” but I do find myself irritated by such as you, silly non-participants in the process who just sit by and watch others do the heavy lifting and then dart in every now and then and try to derail a discussion with some silly non-comment. If you could be bothered to pay attention, you would remember many many MANY thoughtful and respectful responses from me to many people, on many subjects. When such respectful response is called for.

It is not our job to educate you or do your research for you. If you want to be treated with more respect that the mindless trolls who infest this blog merely to try to disrupt it, all you have to do is figure out what exactly IS your political stance, what you do and do not believe in, why, and get your own mind in order. Then when you write in, you may have something to say.

If one of us says something that surprises you, and/or upsets you, such as the oft-repeated commentary that the Left is using accusations of racism to try to influence the political debate, instead of just succumbing to yet another mindless knee-jerk spasm of “ooooh, I don’t LIKE that” and dashing off some silly challenge to PROVE the opinion or comment, look up the related information and put together some kind of coherent point to make.

Simpering “Oh, yeah? PROVE it…” is not very productive.

  9. casper says:

    Amazona,
I was wrong. You can respond to my comments without nastiness. Have a wonderful week. I know I’m going to, because I get to teach.

  10. Amazona says:

Not relevant to the thread, but—-just heard on TV that the crowd at the NY-Dalls game is 105,000. That is in one stadium, small in comparison to the areas covered by equally closely-packed demonstrators in Washington on 9/12.

But don’t let’s forget, this means that 300 million people are NOT in the stadium, which makes the supposedly large attendance really statistically insignificant…………..

  11. observer20 says:

    casper,

I take it you don’t realize that some leftists enjoy saying that not “all” TEA Partyers/Republicans/whatever are racially motivated on some level, but then continue to say that a “sizable portion” of that population seems to have that problem, and then continue to label the entire cause/agenda as partially motivated by that.

Of course, then some people on the right counter-attack by saying that not “all” leftists have that warped logic, but a “sizable portion” of them do and continue to label the entire leftist cause as motivated by that warped logic.

  12. uffy says:

According to leftist blogs and the MSM if I say that Obama did a wonderful job at the presentation of the Medal of Honor I am an American. If I say I disagree with his policies I am a racist.

Liberals never can make up their minds. While Nancy Pelosi cried the other day and babbled, she forgot that the moron who killed Harvery Milk was a liberal Democrat. It is time for Nancy to get some mental health therapy. The woman is unhinged.

Some of the TEA party demonstrators may be racist, but the ones I have attended it isn’t about race………..it is about a power grabbing socialist and his corrupt admin.

  13. soybean says:

Is it possible to be solipsistic and racist?

  14. neocon1 says:

soy it is definitely possible to be a donk and a racist,
just ask the thugs in Philadelphia.
    and of course 0

  15. neocon1 says:

    Mark

typical of modern liberals, he doesn’t want to let the Democrats of New York decide but, instead, wants to use political pressure to get the man he wants.

Maybe he could sell the position.. jesse jackson jr maybe?

  16. lunaticatlarge says:

I remember a time, not long ago, when anyone who opposed the President’s policies was a Terrorist. Now they’re just Racists. Gradually, ever so gradually, the level of discourse is improving.

    As I’ve said elsewhere:

I honestly and personally believe that the charge of racism against people who criticize the president is cheap and meaningless. The TV set hasn’t spent the last 10 years thundering against black people, it has spent the last 10 years painting Democrats and liberals as low, brutal thugs.
