By a healthy 8 points less than two months before election day:
Republican challenger Chris Christie continues to lead incumbent Democrat Jon Corzine in the race for New Jersey governor.
A new Rasmussen Reports survey of voters in the Garden State finds Christie, a former federal prosecutor, on top 46% to 38%. Independent candidate Chris Daggett gets six percent (6%) of the vote, and 10% are undecided.
The problem with the GOP in New Jersey – as noted later in the poll results – is that the GOP has usually failed to close the deal – some how or another, the GOPer just falls flat in the last month. But, also, usually the GOP isn’t 8 points ahead at this place in the campaign.
Its all up to Christie and the New Jersey GOP – we’ve got the wind at our backs and a Democrat brand name which is getting more toxic by the day. All that needs to be done is to fight like heck and don’t let up for a minute.
