From, of all places, the New York Times:
Among the many reverberations of President Obama’s election, here is one he probably never anticipated: at least 32 African-Americans are running for Congress this year as Republicans, the biggest surge since Reconstruction, according to party officials.
Allen West is, by far, the most prominent (and if he doesn’t blow it in some manner, clearly has a governorship in his future…and maybe much higher office, as well), but well-known or obscure, it is heartening to have so many black Americans running as Republicans. It is a restoration – a sign that, just perhaps, one day black Americans as a whole will return to their ancestral political home, the Republican Party.
The Big Lie that the GOP is racist is being put to rest – we’ve all had it up to our necks with this slander, and if we can get West and more like him in power then we will be able to turn the tide. We’ll force Democrats to defend poverty-inducing welfare and having hucksters like Sharpton and Jackson while we Republicans have men of sterling quality like West.
I look forward to the future – and, remember, if we can just get 30% of black Americans to come home, then we’ve crushed liberalism for good.
