Democrats Playing the Race Card, Again

From Legal Insurrection:

Democrats must be in trouble if The Daily Beast is running a headline White Supremacist Stampede, with this opening line:

“Add to the growing list of candidates considering a bid for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012 America’s most famous white-power advocate: David Duke.”

Ah yes, the David Duke card gets played.

Duke is an anti-Semitic kook who is far more likely in recent years to be hobnobbing with anti-Israel European leftists and Islamists than with anyone associated with the Republican Party or the Tea Party movement.

Yet The Daily Beast trots out a possible (inevitable?) Duke run for President to try to back up a false meme, that there is a “stampede” of Neo-Nazi candidates running in elections as Republicans…

Hadn’t heard much of David Duke lately – last I heard of him he was at some Holocaust-denial conference in Iran, or some such.  But as Democrat desperation grows about 2012, I guess they are really going to leave no stone unturned – wouldn’t surprise me if some liberal Democrats were trying to egg Duke on…get him to declare for the GOP nomination and then put him in the MSM over and over and over again (naturally with some TEA Party emblems in the background).  The fact that Duke is no Republican and has been entirely and absolutely rejected by the GOP makes no matter – we GOPers are racist in the liberal/MSM view, Duke is a racist and thus must be a Republican…and if he can be used to scare up minority voters for Obama, so much the better.

In 2012, this will not work – I think that far too many people are on to the Democrat scam on racial matters.   The Democrats have shouted “racist” far too many times for it to be an effective scare tactic and, anyways, having people like Presidential candidate Cain, Representative West, Representative Scott, Senator Rubio, Governor Jindal, Governor Haley, Justice Thomas, Governor Martinez, former Representative Watts, Representative Ros-Lehtinen, activist Connerly, former Secretary of State Rice, economist Sowell, Florida attorney Bush (yes, the son of the former governor…his mother is Mexican and that makes him Latino; we’re becoming racially integrated in our families) and a host of others gives lie to any concept that we are racist.  People are tired of this nasty sort of politics and will reject it.

In 2012, the fight is not over the past, but about the future.  Democrats can raise the specter of racism and hope it brings a few more voters to the polls for Obama and his Democrats…but the overwhelming majority won’t be voting on that.  We’ll be voting on what kind of America we want – and there is no place for Obama, the Democrats or their foul, disgusting race card in that America.

Yesterday, Samantha Guthrie with pMSNBC, asked Herman Cain if he thought he had enough experience for the Presidency. Was she being a racist by asking that question?

And it is the question they never asked of Obama…

    Let’s see:

Jeremiah Wright (and the most famous in his congregation) are not racist though the whole basis for the “religion” of Black Liberation Theology is hatred of whites and Jews.

Eric Holder is not racist even when he tells the Justice Department he will not prosecute black on white crime.

    And so on.

But let one vicious fruitcake racist simply announce that he is a “Republican” and the whole issue of racism is not only alive and well but the whole Republican Party, which has not accepted Duke or any of his ideas, is suddenly branded as racist.

I wonder when the Dems will catch on to the fact that so many in this country are seeing through their demagoguery. I hope not for a while, as it is working so well to identify them as viciously dishonest and unethical, as well as having utter contempt for the intelligence of Americans. It is quite entertaining to see the Dem party self-select for stupidity, while turning off decent and intelligent people.

dont forget all the riots, murders, looting, flash mobs, by al-0 hussein’s new “civilian army” of innercity thugs, illegals, and union goons rampaging all across America almost daily.

Do you live in a John Carpenter movie, neocon?

I must say, I love the “David Duke’s candidacy is a liberal plot because Democrats are desperate” spin. At least it’s creative.

funny you mention ONE of YOURS a KKK member

The Democrat Party’s Long and Shameful History of Bigotry and Racism

A common attack upon conservatives and republicans by the ultra left is to engage in what has come to be known as “playing the race

card” but is more accurately described as racial McCarthyism. Hardly a day goes by without a member of the far left wing falsely accusing conservatives of racism, bigotry, and a wide array of similar nasty things. They are not only dishonest, but they often border on the absurd, as in NAACP leader and hyper bigot Julian Bond’s recent implication to his organization that Bush administration officials supported confederate slavery. Amazingly, Bond’s statements went without condemnation from the radical Democrat party or others in his organization.

Not surprisingly, in all the lies and accusations of racism by the radical left wing, the truth becomes distorted not only about the Republicans but also the Democrats who make these accusations themselves. For instance, you may or may not have heard Democrat Senator Robert Byrd’s outburst of racist bigoted slurs, more specifically the “n-word,” on national television in March of 2001. Amazingly, this incident of blatant racism on national television drew barely a peep from the NAACP, Jesse Jackson, Julian Bond, Mary Frances Berry, or any of the other ambulance chasers who purport themselves to be the leaders of the civil rights movement

        nice try montypython…..

Well, rampaging hordes come up in some of John Carpenter’s better films. What you describe is not, however, actual reality in the here and now. Are you unable to parse the difference between fiction and real life? Something tells me you are.

David Duke is probably America’s most famous unapologetic racist and anti-Semite. “Our clear goal,” he has said, “must be the advancement of the white race and separation of the white and black races. This goal must include freeing of the American media and government from subservient Jewish interests.” He opposes integration, calls himself a “white nationalist”, and his political perspectives are colored almost entirely by race.

His father was an engineer for Shell Oil, his mother was an alcoholic, and his family employed a black maid Duke called Pinky, who was always careful to use the toilet in the utility room, not the home’s main toilet. Growing up in Louisiana, he rooted for the South in every Civil War movie, and came to believe that the South had been right. At 13, he was reading racist material from the New Orleans office of the White Citizens Council, and at 17 he joined the Ku Klux Klan (KKK).

At Louisiana State University he founded the White Youth Alliance. He was active in the school’s ROTC program, winning the Outstanding Cadet Award before being booted from the group for his racist activism. He was known on campus as the guy who wore his Nazi uniform while handing out hate literature.

He was elected Grand Wizard of the KKK, and held that office from 1974-78. He was something of a moderate for the Klan, referring to himself as the group’s “National Director” instead of Grand Wizard, wearing a suit and tie instead of the traditional white robes, and urging members to mainstream the group by getting “out of the cow pasture and into hotel meeting rooms.” He established the National Association for the Advancement of White People in 1980.

In 1988 he ran in several Democratic Presidential campaigns, winning no primaries and gaining substantial votes only in the South, but the campaign was given widespread media coverage, which made Duke famous

Ah, I see the problem. It’s not just that you live in some wingnut version of “Assault on Precinct 13” (though that is a problem) it’s that you don’t maintain very close ties with actual reality.

You have a selective memory. Your excerpt eliminates the switch in parties Duke made in 1989. He never held an elected office as a Democrat, only as a member of the GOP. While I will admit that the Democratic Party was the party of racial bigotry in the South until the mid 70s, there was a paradigm shift within the party in the pre Reagan era where wealthy Southern conservatives crossed into the GOP making it the party of white first that it has been for the past 30 years.
