Obama to Hold News Conference About Debt

Having failed in his efforts to get the GOP to commit political suicide by caving in on taxes, Obama is now just seeking the last ounce of political advantage he can from the debt talks – from Reuters:

U.S. President Barack Obama will hold a news conference at 11 a.m. EDT (1500 GMT) on Monday about the status of negotiations to cut the deficit and raise the debt ceiling, the White House said on Sunday.

Obama met with congressional leaders for about 75 minutes Sunday evening and will meet again with them on Monday “to discuss the ongoing efforts to find a balanced approach to deficit reduction,” the White House said, without giving a time for that session.

I think that for the Democrats they are mostly working out a campaign theme for 2012 – the reason things are lousy is because those mean, greedy Republicans wouldn’t agree to a tax hike on millionaire’s and billionaire’s corporate jets.  No, seriously; it is how things are shaping up.  Yes, Democrats are that out of ideas and that convinced that the American people are infantile enough to buy it.

This 11 am presser – a bit of an odd time to hold one – is to try and grab hold of the media narrative for the remainder of the debt talks.  Obama is trying to make it so that the MSM continually asks Republicans why they won’t tax corporate jets.  The idea is that endless repetition will make the GOP look bad and give Obama and his Democrats a lot of good sound bites for the 2012 campaign (remember, America can go down in flames – for Democrats that is not nearly as bad as a Democrat losing an election:  all else is subordinated to Democrat victory).  Of course, this will only work, at all, if Obama comes across in a Presidential manner.  If he spends half an hour just insulting the GOP, then people will simply tune him out, no matter how much his MSM lapdogs try to make it otherwise.

We’ll see how it comes out – but I’ve never been more confident about conservative/libertarian political prospects than I am now.

the corporate jet “break” was part of the stimulus package rammed through by the donks, with NO GOP votes.
Now they want to pin this on us?
We need a strategy to take these cretins on and call them what they are commie liars.

    Tyrannus Obama Rex
    By Jay Clarke

Barack Obama has many names. He’s been called Savior, Messiah, and The Annointed One. He’s the first biracial and, some say, first post-racial president. He is charged as the leader of the free world, defender of democracy, and America’s head of state. He’s an accomplished organizer, spellbinding orator, and historically significant occupant of the Oval Office. And, he is a tyrant.

Americans hate tyrants. Tyrants are ruthless villains, hostile to the basic freedoms granted to humanity by God. Enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness have spoken hope to Americans and to freedom-loving people around the world for 235 years. But, these basic, God-given rights are under assault. Not by international forces, but from within. From within America. From within the U.S. government itself and directly from the Office of the President.

White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer countered that Obama wants “a balanced approach that asks the very wealthiest and special interests to pay their fair share as well, and we believe the American people agree.”

Considering that the “wealthy” already pay 80% of taxes, Pfeiffer may want to rephrase that statement. I’d hate to have him in charge of cutting my birthday cake, considering what he believes “fair share” means.

      ONCE AGAIN………….
Update: The chart above is from the Joint Economic Committe (based on 2006 IRS data), showing the percentages of federal personal income tax paid by different groups of taxpayers:

The top 1% of taxpayers pay about 40% of all income taxes,

the top 10% pay 71%, and

the top 50% pay 97% of all taxes.

The bottom 50% pays less than 3% of all income taxes paid.

our real problem isnt that the lowest 50% pays under 3% of all taxes…surely you realize that the government still pulls 15% of their pay (or more)…they just give it back…on 15 April….of the next year…

originally…the government only taxed you if you made about 700% of the national income average…its true…under todays figures….that would mean nobody making less than 185k…would need to file any tax form…at all…

if they went back to that…they would still collect lots of tax mind you…as the top 20% pay well above 80% of all taxes…but they would cut the federal budget that has to process those taxes by enormous amounts…

144 million returns were submitted to the IRS last year..we can cut that by 115 +/- million and actually do it cheaper…saving money that the government doesnt need to spend…because that 115 million refunds it doesnt have to send back…leaving the money that the poor need to eat in thier pockets instead of in the governments hands wasting away…

i wonder if zerobama will talk about any of these things during his conference:

Here we go again. An approaching crisis. A looming deadline. Nervous markets. And then, from the miasma of gridlock, rises our president, calling upon those unruly congressional children to quit squabbling, stop kicking the can down the road, and get serious about debt.

    This from the man who:

Ignored the debt problem for two years by kicking the can to a commission.

Promptly ignored the commission’s December 2010 report.

Delivered a State of the Union address in January that didn’t even mention the debt until 35 minutes in.

Delivered in February a budget so embarrassing — it actually increased the deficit — that the Democratic-controlled Senate rejected it 97–0.

Took a budget mulligan with his April 13 debt-plan speech. Asked in Congress how this new “budget framework” would affect the actual federal budget, Congressional Budget Office director Doug Elmendorf replied with a devastating “We don’t estimate speeches.” You can’t assign numbers to air.

Why are we even negotiating with a party that has exploded the debt by 60% since 2007, has not submitted a budget for over two years, and has told us that we need to ride in the back of the bus?

never let a crisis go to waste…he used this one to give tanks to the muslim brotherhood…and it aint over…freedom just doesnt die…obieOne is feeding a movement whose intent it is…is to brind america to its knee’s…and raise islam in its place…

islam and facism have always gotten along..so well…that the communists and socialists prefer that social structure over our constitution…and thats why we have seen so much of our constitution ignored and our rights erroded…slowly over time…because they think that one day we will all wake up and be good little unionized subjects of the (insert expletive) mullahs and (insert 2nd expletive here) party leaders…

but it aint gonna happen…we have the disease…its called freedom…and that aint gotta cure
