More Guns, Less Crime

From the Richmond Times-Dispatch:

Virginia’s bars and restaurants did not turn into shooting galleries as some had feared during the first year of a new state law that allows patrons with permits to carry concealed guns into alcohol-serving businesses, a Richmond Times-Dispatch analysis found.

The number of major crimes involving firearms at bars and restaurants statewide declined 5.2 percent from July 1, 2010, to June 30, 2011, compared with the fiscal year before the law went into effect, according to crime data compiled by Virginia State Police at the newspaper’s request.

And overall, the crimes that occurred during the law’s first year were relatively minor, and few of the incidents appeared to involve gun owners with concealed-carry permits, the analysis found…

An armed population is a free and safe population – also, a more well-mannered population.  This is just natural.  If we’re armed, we can’t just be oppressed at will.  If we’re armed, criminals think twice about committing crimes.  If we’re armed, everyone minds their manners because they’d rather not accidentally insult someone who is carrying a gun.  Neatly stated by John Wayne in The Shootist:

I won’t be wronged, I won’t be insulted, and I won’t be laid a hand on. I don’t do these things to other people and I expect the same from them.

In the end there are only two types of people who don’t want an armed population – people who just don’t understand freedom and tyrants.

“In the end there are only two types of people who don’t want an armed population – people who just don’t understand freedom and tyrants.” I could not agree more.

If you do not have the right to defend yourself, the rest of your rights are pretty much worhless.

Love the FEAR-RRRR mantra of the forkers and other commies, while they themselves are cringing in FEAR of Godly law abiding people owning weapons.
      Ya gotta love their hysteria.

The people who go through the process of obtaining a CCW are NOT on the same level of street thugs that carry illegally.

Our neighborhood is filled with gun owning families yet we dont have shootouts and bands of thugs doing drive by’s
        why is that?

Because Neocon those “Law abiding” people have material things to lose and they wish to keep them. Also, they have a fuller sense of Freedom to lose. The thugs you speak of have neither of these things and they have made poor life choices which place them in a position where they believe that gun violence will solve problems that never should exist in the first place.

I think that’s the answer you’re looking for.

I fully believe as I wrote in my article this morning that either Bachmann or Perry will defeat President Obama in 2012 and then with the Senate and the House and the White House you’ll almost have the America you so miss nearly back.

      GMB,

It’s not Lucifer, it’s the Justice System that judges and lays punishment as it is required.

Gun Rights Win in Florida: State Law Will Soon End Local Firearms Restrictions

Florida has decided to finally protect the 2nd Amendment at the state level and eliminate onerous restrictions that many municipalities and communities have enacted against gun rights.

Starting October 1st, any public official who passes or enforces gun regulations below the state level faces a $5,000 personal fine and could even be removed from office by the governor for enacting or enforcing local gun laws.
