The Brain Damage Of The Left – Open Thread

Currently, there is such a target rich environment of liberalism gone awry and just good old fashion Democratic incompetence that it has become difficult to zero in on just one issue to write about, so I thought I would compile a hodgepodge of liberal haughtiness if you will in a fun weekend thread. So here goes – first up;

– The impoverished school children of Alabama score a huge victory much to the chagrin of state Democrats who were hoping to keep them as subjects of the oppressive teachers unions.

– Despite VP Joe Biden’s recent insistence to buy a shotgun and randomly squeeze off a few a rounds for protection – the Colorado State government is seeking to ban the weapon.

– Harry Reid has called on reporters to do their duty, and just report the Democratic talking points

– Either not knowing the best path forward, or actually asking his advance team, otherwise known as the liberal mainstream media, for advice, President Obama asked a reporter yesterday “What do you want me to do”

– The Obama recovery is in full swing – yesterday it was reported that personal incomes realized the most dramatic decline in 20 years. Important to note here that despite the drop in personal income, President Obama just ended a vigorous campaign trying to convince Americans that a 2.4% reduction in Government spending would result in something just short of an apocalypse.

– And speaking of the sequester apocalypse, the President is now backing away from that claim, saying; and I quote: “This is not going to be an apocalypse I think, as some people said”. This despite the fact that just two days ago, he said this: “If Congress allows this meat-cleaver approach to take place, it will jeopardize our military readiness, it will eviscerate job-creating investments in education and energy and medical research,” Obama warned in a speech at the White House”.

– And not to be outdone by the White House, Democratic Representative Maxine Waters claimed that the sequester would result in the loss of 170,000 jobs – WOW!

– And last, but certainly not least – a three year Democratic witch hunt on Gov. Scott Walker has come to a quiet end with no charges being filed, and no crimes committed. This of course was cause for State Democrat communications director Graeme Zielinski to compare Walker with notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.

A head spinning week of liberal brain damage to be sure. Can’t wait for next week.

Southern Poverty Law Center Lists Pro-Family Groups with the KKK

A recent report by the Southern Poverty Law Center demonizes mainstream pro-family groups as “hate groups,” simply because of their stand against the pro-LGBT agenda and same-sex “marriage.” Included on the SPLC”s list of “hate groups” are the Family Research Council, The American Family Association, Concerned Women for America, and Americans for Truth about Homosexuality. Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth, dissects the report and the SPLC’s recent press conference on this issue. He notes the complete lack of evidence in the report linking pro-family groups with “hate,” as well as the glaring omission of radical homosexual activists groups like ACT-UP and Bash

Oh Rusty, here’s another recently discovered fact that just makes you and your ilk look even more ignorant. Which isn’t easy to do:

President Barack Obama and Democratic leaders in Congress say the wealthy must pay their fair share if the federal government is ever going to fix its finances and reduce the budget deficit to a manageable level. A new analysis, however, shows that average tax bills for high-income families rarely have been higher since the Congressional Budget Office began tracking the data in 1979. It’s middle- and low-income families that aren’t paying as much as they used to.

      • rustybrown2012 March 3, 2013 / 1:47 pm

Just as I thought, your quote is but a small part of the story, not so damning taken in context. From your linked article:

“On average, households making more than $1 million this year will pay 37.2 percent of their income in federal taxes, according to the Tax Policy Center. But there are exceptions.

For example, the Internal Revenue Service tracks tax returns for the 400 highest-paid filers each year. Those taxpayers made an average of $202 million in 2009, the latest year available. Their average federal income tax rate: 19.9 percent.”

        And this:

“Liberals and many Democrats say rich families can afford to pay higher taxes because their incomes have grown much more than incomes for middle- and low-income families.

Average after-tax incomes for the top 1 percent of households more than doubled from 1979 to 2009, increasing by 155 percent, according to the CBO. Average incomes for those in the middle increased by just 32 percent during the same period while those at the bottom saw their incomes go up by 45 percent.

“You’ve got to think about the context,” said Chuck Marr, director of federal tax policy for the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a liberal think tank. “We just had three decades in the United States where we had a tremendous increase in inequality.”

Wealth is not a zero sum game sport. Tell me if you know what that means. And for over 50 years the federal government and morons like you have tried to legislate “fairness” and today we have more people in poverty than we have ever had before.

America’s problem is that we have too many stupid people like you.

      • Cluster March 3, 2013 / 2:02 pm

I will also remind you Crusty that in 1970, when the “rich” were paying lower percentages of taxes, we had less poverty, less government, less debt, less deficits, and much less division.

      • rustybrown2012 March 3, 2013 / 5:39 pm

Nobody claimed wealth was a zero sum game, sport, but your article pointed out the glaring and growing disparity between rich and poor.
As far as “today we have more people in poverty than we have ever had before.”, got any evidence to back that up, sport? Or are you utilizing the favored debate tactic of this blog – presenting your nutball opinions as fact?

      • rustybrown2012 March 3, 2013 / 5:46 pm

        Cluster says:

“I will also remind you Crusty that in 1970, when the “rich” were paying lower percentages of taxes, we had less poverty, less government, less debt, less deficits, and much less division.”

…ever heard of the phrase “correlation does not imply causation”, idiot? I’m other words, your statement is meaningless.

      • Cluster March 3, 2013 / 8:15 pm

This is an article from 2011 on poverty, and poverty rose again in 2012, so it’s not a pretty picture.

And this despite the fact that the federal government has spent approx. $1 trillion on their war on poverty, so it really isn’t working is it?

I am also amazed at how little you know. Every time I bring something up, you need a “citation”. Do you ever read the news?

And what is a zero sum game?

      • rustybrown2012 March 4, 2013 / 12:53 am

Asking for sources for facts presented in a dispute is commonly done by intelligent people, particularly when dealing with individuals who are stupid, and often dishonest. For instance, you claimed:

“…for over 50 years the federal government and morons like you have tried to legislate “fairness” and today we have more people in poverty than we have ever had before”

…and yet according to the census bureau the poverty rate is much lower today than it was in ’65, proving you’re an cretin who doesn’t know what he’s talking about. And you wonder why I ask you for sources!

      • Amazona March 4, 2013 / 1:51 am

rusted, why do you think you are entitled to use this blog as a litter box for depositing your evidently endless supply of mental excrement? Just like in the rest of your life no one cares what you “think” but it’s interesting to see you illustrate that you believe that somehow your rudeness is excusable. And it isn’t. You only come here to insult and attack, to show off how rude you are.

No one has to dance to your tune. If people have contempt for you, they get to ignore you. When people ignore you this does not mean you have scored a point or are right. It only means you are tiresome and not worth bothering with. You have yet to contribute anything. So far all you have done is attack the positions and feelings and ideas of others, sneering and snarling and generally being low-class and crude.

The fact that this is what we have come to expect from the RRL trolls is no excuse.

I think Crusty is a perfect example of what you call the unexamined left. He is so invested in the empty rhetoric of the left, and so indoctrinated in idiocy, that he simply fails to see reality or have any common sense. And he lashes out at his own ignorance when cornered.

      • rustybrown2012 March 4, 2013 / 10:58 am

One more time: People can’t come here just to attack and insult. This is what you have been doing and it will stop. People should be able to engage in discussions and people like you do not engage in discussions but just attack those who do. // Moderator

Quit whining. Admit the fact that you are not here to have an adult conversation. Re: poverty, by your own admission rates are as high as they have been in 48 years, of which I was off by a couple of years, but instead of addressing the REAL problem of the government spending approx. $1 trillion in the last 50 years on resolving the matter with no success, you prefer to quibble over time lines.

It’s a good thing for the Left that their base is so comfortable with inconsistencies and contradictions. Dear Leader Junior tells us to carry shotguns for self protection. Baby brother of EPA head and political whore Ken Salazar tells women they don’t need any weapons at all to protect against rape, should just blow a whistle and somehow get to the nearest “call box”. Colorado legislators vote to outlaw most hunting shotguns—–guess they didn’t check in with Junior. The Lefties are bumbling around looking like the human version of bumper cars.

And the ever-complicit Agenda Media somehow manage to miss the WAR ON WOMEN !!!!!!! aspect of Joe Salazar’s callous indifference to rape.Suggesting that a woman pass up a venti vanilla latte once a month to pay for her own birth control is a WAR ON WOMEN !!!!!! but telling women they need to rely on “call boxes” and whistles if they are attacked by rapists is jes’ fine.

I doubt that the Entertainment Media are going to make much of it either. Somehow I don’t see an SNL skit with a rapist agreeing to postpone his rape till his victim can find a “call box”—-or proceeding while she blows her little whistle.
