Insanity, Thy Name is Harry Reid

The stupid – it just hurts!

U.S. Rep. Sam Johnson, R-Texas, left, wants to end the practice of giving illegal immigrants tax credits for kids, but U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., won’t let the House-approved measure H.R. 556 through the Senate.

The System is Working Fine” says Senator Harry Reid, even though the Joint Committee on Taxation calculates that enactment of H.R. 556 would save taxpayers $24.4 billion over the next decade.

Here’s the real kicker – illegal aliens can claim the $1,000.00 tax credit even if their kids aren’t in the United States.  I mean, come on!  Any illegal who doesn’t claim at least one kid back in the home country is now a certifiable idiot!  How in heck would we possibly be able to check on something like that?  But to Harry Reid, its just working fine…which, I guess, is true from Harry’s perspective…it provides yet more taxpayer money for the undocumented Democrats.
As you all know, I’ve been in favor of amnesty since 2007 – but I’ve now decided to put on hold my support for the idea until such time as Harry Reid and Barack Obama have no further say in American law.  They are just too stupid to be trusted on such an important issue…and by being so stupid, they risk us never being able to get to rational immigration reform.

This would make for an interesting PoliSci debate in a liberal college: On the one hand, if you think that the $1000 tax credit for dependent children is meant to help support those children, then one could be hardpressed denying that $1000 to any child who is an American citizen while granting it to others. Yet, at the same time, the mechanism to get that $1000 to that child requires the government to give it through a parent who isn’t legally allowed to be in the U.S. working in the first place.

Tough call, the bill in question would flat out deny the $1000 in child support to any child who is a legal citizen born by a working illegal immigrant parent, while allowing that $1000 to every other child who is a U.S. citizen.

To me, the most constitutionally correct solution would be to get rid of the credit altogher, for everyone.

OT, did anyone else notice this? Court strikes down mandate for birth control in ObamaCare

“The burden on religious exercise does not occur at the point of contraceptive purchase; instead, it occurs when a company’s owners fill the basket of goods and services that constitute a healthcare plan,” Judge Janice Rogers Brown wrote on behalf of the court.

We need more Judges like her!

Does anyone remember how the dimocrats tried to stop her appointment? Remember? A “Woman of color” for which dimocrats filibustered her nomination in their endless war on women and never ending subjugation of non-white races? I remember.

I couldn’t agree with you more on the fact that Reid and Obama are too stupid to be trusted with anything important. Look what’s happened already with Obamacare. We don’t need anything else that devistating to happen. I would feel safer if Obama played golf the rest of his term. He doesn’t know whats going on anyway. He has to learn everything from the news like the rest of us. Reid just needs to retire or get voted out.

      Harley,

Indeed – lots of golf and teleprompted speeches – as long as Obama is concentrating on that, we’re ok.

Obama’s job is to campaign, telling the sheeple just how wonderful he would be, could be, if people would just let him. He started off by explaining how he just needed to get elected to reduce taxes, provide free and superb health care for everyone, win over the hearts and minds of the whole wide world, create peace in our time, halt terrorism, guarantee prosperity to all, make sure our children receive the best education, halt global warming, and in general make the world a perfect place.

Since then he has shifted, slightly, to explaining how he can still do all of this, WILL do all of this, if only those big meanies on the Right will let him. It turns out that being elected, and then reelected, having his party in control of both houses of Congress for much of his reign, and being unbelievably popular with the LIV crowd is NOT enough. Oh, he is still valiantly fighting the Good Fight, still the champion of all that is good, but dammit he is just stymied at every turn by those recalcitrant TEA Party types.

His entire schtick can be summed up as “IF ONLY….” If only he could be elected, if only he could control enough Congressional votes, if only he could be reelected, if only some Republicans would vote his way, if only if only if only…………….

Think it through: Nevada depends more than many states on labor to cook and clean, jobs which traditionally are taken by new immigrants and other low-skilled people. Nevada is strongly union, so the ability to import vast numbers of people who are also forced to belong to unions to work at all means big bucks for the unions—who then pay out big bucks to re-elect Reid.

It is never about what is best for the nation. It is always about what is best for Harry Reid and his cohorts and supporters, all of whom are complicit in ripping off the people of this nation to reap great benefits for themselves.

      Amazona,

And, of course, Reid hasn’t been shy about enriching himself – the most spectacular deal he’s had was getting some land dirt cheap just across the Colorado River in Arizona and then getting the taxpayers to pay for a bridge from Nevada to Arizona which will terminate just off Reid’s land…and thus massively increase the value of the land. He’s done all sorts of things like that – and no surprise that he’s now vastly rich even though his private sector work is rather small (and many decades in the past) and he didn’t inherit anything from his dirt poor parents.
