Thinking About South Africa

We noted this in the comments earlier:

White South African farmers will be removed from their land after a landslide vote in parliament.

The country’s constitution is now likely to be amended to allow for the confiscation of white-owned land without compensation, following a motion brought by radical Marxist opposition leader Julius Malema.

It passed by 241 votes for to 83 against after a vote on Tuesday, and the policy was a key factor in new president Cyril Ramaphosa’s platform after he took over from Jacob Zuma in February.

Mr Malema said the time for ‘reconciliation is over’. ‘Now is the time for justice,’ News24 reported.

The worst thing Europe did to Africa wasn’t colonialism – it was providing them Marx. It is amazing the applicability of Marxism – the work of a 19th century European Jew who never worked a day in his life is being used by 21 century black African to justify an act of idiocy. Basically, if you’ve got a dumb idea, just filter it through Marx and it will seem like you actually thought of something.

This will end badly – the land will be taken and mostly handed off to various cronies of those in power who won’t have the foggiest notion of how to make the land pay. The poor of South Africa won’t just remain poor, but will actually become poorer. And once you set down the path of injustice, you’re really not going to get out of it easy.

To be sure, this path of injustice was first pioneered by the white South Africans…remember, the Boers moved into the Transvaal, etc because they wanted to keep the slavery which the British Empire had abolished. Later, after gaining independence from Britain, the white South Africans erected Apartheid…which wasn’t really Apartheid because it wasn’t a set up where whites would live with whites and blacks with blacks but, rather, a mechanism where the whites could keep their cheap, black labor while denying said labor any political rights. It was pretty much a duplicate – carried to a further extreme – of the Jim Crow laws in the American South. Now there are those in South Africa who are looking for some payback…and they are suckering the poor by telling them that if the whites are expropriated, they’ll all be well off.

It is a rather sad end to it all – when Mandela was freed and Apartheid came down, I had my doubts…but then Mandela rather rose to the occasion and I hoped that a genuine, pluralist Republic would emerge in South Africa. But even early there were warning signs…those who didn’t want to forgive and forget and who were willing to stir the pot of resentment for political gain. Over time, especially since Mandela’s death, these forces have grown stronger and now appear to be firmly in the saddle in South Africa…where a corrupt ANC government is desperately looking for an expedient to justify it’s continued rule. Well, here it is: bash whitey! Whitey might, indeed, deserve some bashing and it is absurd that the white minority still owns quite so much land…but this way of race-hatred and uncompensated expropriation is the evil way to go about things. And the curious thing about evil acts is that they don’t actually work.

The thing is, it would take at least 100 years for the black population of South Africa to reach the economic level of the white population of South Africa. The cultural capital of the two groups was vastly different when Apartheid came down – for a variety of reasons, not least of which was direct, white suppression of the formation of cultural capital among South Africa’s black population. But however it got to be that way, that is the way it was…and only a great deal of time and hard work was ever going to erase the difference.

The ultimate mistake of it all – the gigantic error – was Apartheid; a system of racial oppression and exploitation. That most white South Africans today had nothing to do with erecting or maintaining that system is irrelevant. It was still the error – and errors always have to be paid for, one way or another. It would have been better paid for at the end of Apartheid by the surrender of a great deal of wealth…now it will be paid for by the seizure of that wealth. And, worse, the seizure won’t make anyone happy. It will impoverish the white population, but won’t enrich the black population. It will impel ever more extreme demands, of course…once it doesn’t work, we’ll start to see more and more racist conspiracy theories floated to explain why expropriation didn’t work…and thus more and more violence directed at the now-despised minority.

There isn’t much we, as Americans, can do about this. I can only advise white South Africans to consider moving – at least to Cape Province, but even that will probably only be a temporary expedient. Probably leaving South Africa will be the only way to be safe. It is a shame that the sins of the grandfathers will be visited upon the grandsons, but that is how the world can work, at times, when wicked people get rolling.

There isn’t much we, as Americans, can do about this.

Why would we want to? Although I think MSNBC will start broadcasting from there. This is a dream come true for Al Sharpton.

Honestly, no one should be surprised by this. If anyone hasn’t noticed, most countries around the globe are not exactly bastions of equality, peace, and prosperity, particularly those countries governed by black and brown people, and we can not be the Dudley Do Rights of the world “rushing in to save the day”. We have our own Marxists here we need to deal with.

I was going to say that were it not for abortion, the black population here would be around 18% instead of 12-13%, and we would be on our way to doing the same thing here, but that would be crude and racist, so I won’t.

I think the pendulum is going to swing back to white people hating black people. For a long time racial divides were prominent and accepted, even when people of one race didn’t actually HATE those of other races. We started to move toward a more colorblind world, in which racial differences were of no more importance than height or eye color, but that is when black people in particular started to say, in so many words, that was not enough. That is when “equal” started to mean “superior” and spite, malice and vengeance started to dominate black discourse on race.

The Left, of course, loved this, promoted it and probably initiated a lot of it. This is the kind of conflict that feeds the emotions that make Leftist ideology so appealing. But I think there are backlashes. In this country, for example, I have seen a lot of white people who have, over the past fifty years or so, been quite comfortable with black neighbors, black co-workers, black in-laws, black political leaders, black entertainment figures and so on, seeing them as people who just happened to have dark skin, starting to develop antipathy toward black people because of the truly ugly things that have come to the surface about the feelings and attitudes of so many black people in this country. I have not heard a single person say, in so many words, “I think black SKIN makes people inferior” but there is a lot of “black CULTURE makes people inferior”. The black people who have stepped out of that toxic stew and rejected it still have the respect and love they have always had—Sowell and Carson as two examples—but the surge of black nationalism, for lack of a better phrase, is starting to result in a pretty serious distrust and even dislike of black people who appear to be part of it.

In Africa, I predict that the blacks who are being given land they have not earned will not succeed in farming it, and as they fail they will become more bitter and more violent, more whites will be slaughtered, and the pendulum will swing back to the belief that black people simply can’t handle freedom or responsibility. The end result will be detrimental to black people in general, just as the end result of the widening racial gulf in the United States is starting to damage the image of black people here.

And the sad truth is that they are being sacrificed by the Left to promote Leftist power grabs and to undermine democratic governance.

But then, everything is racist these days. I engage in overt racism every single day, as I use cotton balls, eat bananas, keep my shoes on with shoe strings tied in loops, eat Southern Fried Chicken and so on. Now that “racism” has nothing to do with how people feel about people of other races, or treat them, it’s pretty much everywhere. Now merely being a capitalist is racist. Now just having light colored skin is racist.

I love carne asada tacos …. is that cultural appropriation?

I had Mexican food yesterday but felt really guilty about it. With Saint Paddy’s day coming up, I wonder how many will be “appropriating” all things Irish, or supposedly Irish.

Now of course this story barely hits the mainstream media, but let’s imagine for a second how this story would play out if for example a largely white community like Sweden, wanted to take land away from minorities of color to give to other white people.

Also, did everyone see that Angela Merkel finally admitted that there are in fact “NO GO” zones in Germany? The police and citizens are warned to not go into these immigrant areas because they can not ensure their safety.

    Aren’t refugees beautiful?

The ones who come here to EARN a better life and become Americans are. The ones who bring their third world cultures and come here for free stuff can go to hell.

Funny true story – I have an agent in my office from Poland. Migrated here legally and works hard. Blond hair, blue eye, white, good looking gal. Her sister is here illegally and sponging off the government, and my agent is mad as hell over that. She wants her sister to be deported and doesn’t think it is right that she is here illegally and receives all of this help from the government while she works hard to buy her home and pay her own way, etc..

Not all migrants are brown or black, but they are still illegal

I had a guy in my Oath Keepers group back in 2013 when we first started the chapter who had emigrated here with his parents from one of the Eastern European Iron Curtain countries, Yugoslavia I think, as a teenager in the early 80’s. He has since moved to another state, but I remember him saying that America was becoming what he and his parents had escaped from. Those of us who have lived here all of our lives have seen the cultural rot and increasing presence of Big Brother happen gradually. Those who have lived it somewhere else are really upset, sad and more than a little scared.
