Common Sense

In January of 1776 Thomas Paine anonymously published Common Sense, a publication of which became the most widely read tome of its time and is incredibly still in print today. Common Sense speaks to the individual human desire for equality in every aspect of life and the absolute necessity for independence, liberty, and self governance for that outcome to be realized. Today, I think this country is in desperate need once again of common sense and here’s mine. We are at a crossroads in this country. The Democrat Party has so embraced the Left agenda and identity politics that it is hard to recognize their platform as anything resembling America, but they are our domestic political rival and they do have a sizable constituency so we need to take them seriously. If Joe Biden wins, the Democrats WILL; end the filibuster, create States, pack the Supreme Court, abolish the Electoral College, restrict 2A to the point it becomes meaningless, curtail 1A and restrict assembly. In other words, Democrats WILL create one party rule in America for the foreseeable future. In addition to that, Democrats will flood the country with low wage labor, provide inferior healthcare for all, end fossil fuels, ban fracking, and raise taxes. In other words, they will destroy the economy and the entire country will look like Los Angeles, or Portland, or Seattle, or whatever Democrat urban hellhole you can think of.

We can not abide. We must rise and we must defend. If Biden is elected it will be incumbent for patriotic men and women to see that the struggle for individual freedom so bravely fought for two centuries ago does not perish from this earth. Reagan once said that freedom was but one generation away from being extinguished. We are that generation.

Saw a couple polls this week that kind of call the 16 point Biden lead poll into question. 56% of Americans say the country is headed in the right direction and 60% don’t think Biden, if he’s elected, will finish his first term. I think there’s a HUGE undercurrent of Trump support that’s not showing up in any poll.

‘A republic, if you can keep it’

Already seeing WaPo & MSN questioning this quote among everything else. Socialism is the first step towards Totalitarianism but all the morons pushing this crap believe they will be “King” and not one of the paupers.

We lose this election I will weep for the loss of America while trying to educate those that will listen that this is the last “shiny city upon a hill.” Also noticed that the dimmicrats among others have attacked all religion with fervor.

Too many people from Socialist/ Totalitarian/ Communist countries have sent out the warnings but few listen because it hasn’t affected them yet. Just wait.

Puritan pilgrim John Winthrop in perhaps the earliest example of the idea of American exceptionalism. In 1630, while still aboard a ship bound for Massachusetts Bay, Winthrop delivered his sermon “A Model of Christian Charity.”

He said, “For we must consider that we shall be as a city upon a hill. The eyes of all people are upon us. So that if we shall deal falsely with our God in this work we have undertaken, and so cause Him to withdraw His present help from us, we shall be made a story and a by-word through the world.”

Too many have given up on the belief of God, the Father, his son Jesus and the Holy Ghost. When we do that then God will remove his presence over America and we should expect the same ruination as happened in the Middle East many years ago.

So I see travesty emptied his “mental colon” (so good) yesterday and reading it was like listening to a high pitched squeal. There is nothing any Democrat progressive could ever say to lessen my desire to see their demise and of course travesty doesn’t even attempt to be reasonable or sane, not that he ever was but this is another aspect of our political environment that conservatives need to remember.

Democrats NEVER worked with our President. From day one they began impeachment and hysteria. They never once took the time to reflect on why Trump was elected nor did they give him any space to govern. They have also attacked conservative voters, burned down their small businesses, and even injured or killed them in the streets … and yet conservatives have still kept their powder dry and remained calm.

I want to send a very real alarm to people like travesty … do not mistake complacency for lack of resolve. You have no idea how close conservatives are to initiating a civil war and if that happens, people like you will perish quickly. We are done with the fascist violent tactics of Democrats. If Biden wins, the last 4 months of inner city carnage will look like a Saturday afternoon in the park

Well you know where this is going, right?

White House coronavirus response coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx is warning that the Northeast is experiencing ‘troubling signs’ of a ‘very different’ style of coronavirus spread as temperatures drop in the region. Birx said Thursday that fall’s cooler weather in the region has led to coronavirus spreading faster within families and social groups, than in schools and workplaces where people are following precautions. ‘What we’re seeing in the community is much more spread occurring in households and in social occasions, small gatherings where people have come inside, taken off their mask to eat or drink or socialize with one another,’ Birx said Thursday at a roundtable discussion at the University of Connecticut in Hartford, Connecticut. It’s a similar type of spread pattern that was seen in Southern states over the summer, when people flocked to air-conditioned, indoor areas to escape heat and humidity, she said. People are shown without masks eating indoors

What did Ranoldo Maximus Reagan tell us in the 1960’s? That socialism would come to America in the form of healthcare.

    Rise up and revolt.

I think Joe Biden is the only person in the country who doesn’t realize that Nancy Pelosi’s enactment of the 25th Amendment is designed solely to remove him as President as soon as possible should he win the election.

    • Amazona October 10, 2020 / 10:41 am

And what Nancy Pelosi doesn’t realize—or, rather, hopes the public doesn’t realize—is that she can put together “commissions” all day long and they won’t mean a thing. She can call together her ragtag band of intellectual and ethical misfits—Jerrold Waddler, Adam Shiftless and the gang—and they can indulge themselves in declarations and conclusions all they want.

For now, at least, the Constitution is the law of the land, and till then they can play their little fantasy games trying to influence the election in any underhanded way they can come up with.

Our old buddy Keith Olbermann is back. I know you are all as excited at the prospect of being subjected to his verbal diarrhea as I am.//sarc.

“So, let us brace ourselves,” he continued, saying, “The task is two-fold: the terrorist Trump must be defeated, must be destroyed, must be devoured at the ballot box, and then he, and his enablers, and his supporters, and his collaborators, and the Mike Lees and the William Barrs, and Sean Hannitys, and the Mike Pences, and the Rudy Gullianis and the Kyle Rittenhouses and the Amy Coney Barretts must be prosecuted and convicted and removed from our society while we try to rebuild it and to rebuild the world Trump has destroyed by turning it over to a virus.”

Olbermann did not state what alleged crimes Trump and his supporters “must” be prosecuted for. (emphasis – mine)

Crimes, schmimes. Of course he “did not state what alleged crimes” Trump and his supporters have committed. We disagree with him, and that’s enough. This is who the Left is, folks. Most are just afraid (or too smart) to come right out and say it, although in the last four years an increasing number of them have taken off their masks. These are not people you argue politics or philosophy with and then go out and have a beer with later. Unlike Keith, I cherish his right to say the things he says. I served in the military for 24 years to protect that right. But his right ends when he decides to prosecute me and throw me in prison for disagreeing with him.

I’m more skeptical than ever that our differences can be resolved at the ballot box, but, like the vast majority of Conservatives, I’m not going to fire the first shot. God help the Leftist, though, who comes for me to “prosecute me and remove me from society.”

    • Amazona October 10, 2020 / 10:17 am

Look at every nation where Leftism has been allowed to take over the government and you will see the “opposition” persecuted, imprisoned and/or sent off to gulags—in one way or another “removed from society”. From the concentration camps of Nazi Germany to the political prison of the Stasi in East Germany to the Siberian gulags of the USSR to the political prisons in Cuba to the simpler and more efficient killing fields of Cambodia, the Left simply gets rid of its opponents.

Yet about half of the United States citizens vote for Leftists. Go figure.

      • Retired Spook October 10, 2020 / 10:40 am

So much for the people like Bernie who say they just want to be more like Sweden.

Yet about half of the United States citizens vote for Leftists. Go figure.

I’ve tried (to figure), and it doesn’t compute. I would bet only a small fraction of that half would say they want to eliminate or imprison those who disagree with them. We either have to convince enough of them that their party is headed down a disastrous path or they’re going to get caught in the crossfire when it all comes crashing down. I have zero empathy for anyone who waits until that point to decide they made the wrong choice. It’s too bad Keith Olbermann doesn’t have a bigger platform.

      • Amazona October 10, 2020 / 10:54 am

And here I come back to my tired old soapbox of poor messaging by the Right.

We let the Left invent the rules and set the terms, and then we play by them, so we run our campaigns on Identity Politics just like they do. They avoid discussing actual political philosophy because if they do they will lose, and we just never get around to it because we are too caught up in our own Identity Politics games.

I never see any effort to explain Leftism other than vague references to undefined terms like “socialism” and “Marxism”. Without definitions and context these are just random sounds to the uneducated ear.

The one and only effort I have seen was Mike Pence’s repeated question to Harris in which he not only asked if she supported packing the Court but added the vital element of “IF YOU DON’T GET YOUR OWN WAY”. That should have been the theme repeated over and over again and hammered home daily—that when the Left doesn’t get its own way it resorts to violence, and when it runs into opposition it just guns it down.

And most of all that the only reason they get away with this is because well-meaning people vote them into power.

They gave us all we needed, in the optics of cities burning, statues pulled down, businesses destroyed, people attacked, police officers on stretchers being loaded into ambulances, hospital doors blocked by people howling that they wished the ambushed officers would die, and the comment of keeping all options on the table including packing the Court and setting up a path to citizenship for all illegal aliens so they can vote and adding new states to get more Democrats in Congress. They gave it to us, and we did nothing with it.

We’ve never even challenged the top corporations with the question “Why do you support and fund efforts to undermine and overthrow our government? Because that is what Marxism is all about. Don’t you have SOMEONE in your company who researches these groups and their manifestos? “

      • Retired Spook October 10, 2020 / 6:03 pm

We let the Left invent the rules and set the terms, and then we play by them, so we run our campaigns on Identity Politics just like they do.

I think the reason for that is that, deep down, the two parties are not all that different. The GOP is just moving Left at a slower pace. So many in the establishment of the Republican Party are perfectly content to let the Dems set the agenda and then “act” as the noble opposition when they’re not in power and dragging their feet when they are. Since Trump’s election a number of establishment Republicans have revealed who they are; and they’re NOT Conservatives. If they were they’d be delighted at what Trump has accomplished — things they professed to be in favor of their whole lives. We’re going through an undeniable political re-alignment that’s going to end up being, in many cases, a 180 degree shift.

      • Amazona October 11, 2020 / 11:18 am

Spook, I agree that there is going to be a realignment. I just don’t know in which direction. True, the GOP could end up being subsumed by the Left–a guarantee if Biden wins and the Left takes over the Court through packing and Congress through allowing illegals to vote (either as illegals or by fast-tracking citizenship) and packing Congress with additional Senators and Representatives.) But the battle within the GOP is pretty strident, and for the first time it is public and based on actual political philosophy and not just factions competing for power. So one possible realignment could be a more muscular and focused GOP with a more specific commitment to both fighting Leftist incursions into our government and governing according to the Constitution.

  7. Amazona October 10, 2020 / 10:13 am

Joe just doesn’t seem to realize that he tells us what the Left doesn’t want us to talk about. He tries to excuse his refusal to answer the court-packing question by saying The moment I answer that question, the headline in every one of your papers will be about that.”

To which I say OF COURSE IT WOULD. And it should be, because that is exactly the kind of policy position the voters should be considering when making a decision.

If packing the Court is a good idea, run on it and let the people decide. If packing the Court is ethical, run on it and let the people give their opinion. If packing the Court is in any way compliant with the basic principles of our Constitution, admit it and run on it and let the voters agree or disagree.

He is admitting that this idea would become a factor in the election, and that is exactly what it should be.

Imagine any other important question being treated this way. “Mr. Vice President, if elected would you drop nuclear bombs on North Korea?” “The moment I answer that question, the headline in every one of your papers will be about that.” “Mr. Vice President, if elected would you follow Keith Olbermann’s advice and send everyone who voted for Trump to concentration camps or in some other way remove them from society?” “The moment I answer that question, the headline in every one of your papers will be about that.”

Yeah, you ignorant moron—of course this would be, and should be, the headline in every paper and the subject of every discussion on whether this man should be president. Thanks for admitting it. Now we just have to have some Republicans who can make that point.

How anyone can support this ticket is beyond me. I think this is the first time in our nations history that a POTUS candidate refused to let his intentions be clear.

      • Amazona October 11, 2020 / 11:37 am

Biden says we don’t DESERVE to know what his policies would be. That’s an interesting campaign strategy. We not only don’t know what HIS policies would be, we don’t even know who would end up acting as president.

      • Amazona October 11, 2020 / 12:43 pm

How anyone can support this ticket is beyond me.

We don’t even know what the ticket IS. We don’t know who would really be the president if Biden is the official winner, and we don’t know the policies that faction (whoever represents it) would implement.

Democrats are basically going to be voting for Anyone Who Is Not Trump (to be named later) and Whatever The Party Decides (to be explained later). It’s a fascinating dynamic, in a sad and disturbing way—how can literally millions of people agree to launch themselves and their country into an unknown area run by unknown people?

Knowing that Chris Christie just walked out of the hospital and never really got that sick, I call bullshit on this whole fu***ing thing. Christie was not exactly the model of health and yet he’s fine.

Don’t believe the numbers and don’t listen to the experts. This is all pure propaganda.

    • Amazona October 11, 2020 / 11:35 am

Christie said the only reason he even went to the hospital was an abundance of caution because of his asthma, not because he was very sick.

A friend’s elderly aunt in Idaho has been tested as positive, and she says she just feels like she has a very mild case of the flu, but that her sense of taste and smell are affected. I have always thought I probably had it in February, and my own sense of taste has been altered since then. My age also puts me in that more-at-risk category but if this is the worst after-effect I am OK with it. I am more at risk of respiratory complications from wildfire smoke, thanks to the inevitable result of the Left’s blocking of thinning out diseased trees to halt the spread of the pine borer beetle, than from Covid.
