We’ve all been rather wrapped up in domestic issues and with the Gaza War dominating the international headlines it is easy to let other things slip. One of the things not in the American mind is Spain.
On the 23rd of July Spain had an election and the Populist-Conservative People’s Party came in first, though as often happens in parliamentary systems without scoring an outright majority. Still, the usual course of events is that the biggest party in parliament is given the opportunity to form a government – either an outright minority government or a coalition with one or more smaller parties necessary to secure a majority. It isn’t happening like that.
It still hasn’t been all worked out yet, but the leader of Spain’s Socialist party is working out deals with various Spanish separatist parties (most notably the Catalan separatists) which, in return for Separatist support for a socialist government, various charges of corruption will be dropped against Separatist leaders as well as various bald-faced ripoffs from the Spanish treasury will be turned over to Separatist control. As I said, not a fully done deal but it does look like it is happening. This has provoked outrage in the Spanish center and right leading to massive protests at Socialist party headquarters…and a very violent police response (the same police which, like in all Western nations, always goes easy on Leftists and foreigners who are causing a ruckus).
And you think about it: this was once Franco’s Spain. These modern Socialists are the heirs of those Franco defeated in the 1930s. They’re in power, now, and they are busily erasing Franco, erasing the crimes of the Socialist Spanish government in the 1930s and building up a Spain which is overtly anti-Spanish and anti-Catholic. And they don’t care how they retain power…because for a Socialist the only thing that matters is imposing Socialism. Doesn’t matter that less than 1 in 3 Spaniards wants a Socialist system, the Socialists will force it on all Spaniards by any means available. The Socialists never quit. Defeated they just wait and wait and wait knowing that eventually people will be bamboozled into voting for them and then once they get in power they act as if they have a mandate. Nobody in Spain ever voted to dig up Franco’s body and move it out of what amounts to Spain’s Arlington…but the Socialists did it; because they still hate Franco. He beat them, you see: the one unforgivable sin.
And they are like this everywhere they go: explicitly hating the nations they arise in and diligently working to eliminate everything which made their nation good. Here in the USA they are BLM and Antifa…and very lately the rabidly anti-Semitic pro-Hamas cretins we’ve seen itching for a pogrom. It does amaze that Marx’ drivel continues to inspire but then you think about it: Socialists have largely always been privileged people who think they’re smarter than everyone else. Socialism gives these people their mental justification for taking over…and thus it’s continued appeal. That is, as long as we have idle, wealthy youth filled with resentment – and made increasingly ignorant by the education system – we’re going to have Socialists trying to destroy everything.
So, what is our solution?
Simple, really: eliminate Socialism.
Just stop right there: no, the First Amendment does not secure a right to believe Socialism. We’ve been conditioned to think it does, mostly by Socialists working with Libertarians (ie, really dumb people, on both sides of that equation). But no entity defends its own destruction. Wherever Socialism becomes prevalent, all free speech, freedom of the press and freedom of worship comes under attack and eventual destruction. It is invariable. And it has to be: Socialism can’t compete in a free society. Take a look at Spain – just like here, the whole Establishment – especially the media – was on their side and even with all that positive coverage, they still only eked out 31.7% of the vote. They are just strong enough in parliament at the moment to work crooked deals to secure power…but in anything like a truly fair system, they probably wouldn’t get above 10% of the vote and just wouldn’t be in a position to make crooked deals. But our main concern here is that we know – for an absolute fact – that Socialism continually attacks all manner of free expression. It simply cannot be that our Constitution secures the right of people to destroy the Constitution. Socialism – Marx and all variations of his nonsense – simply can’t be held to have First Amendment protections. It would be just downright asinine to think they do. And remember: they are not trying to change the Constitution via law – they are trying to eliminate the Constitution as an impediment to a Socialist future. Whatever is written in that document about your rights will be – heck, already is being ignored – by any sort of Socialist, whatever words they use to describe themselves. The only reason you still retain any First Amendment protections is not because the Socialists respect the law, but because they simply lack the physical force to lock you up. As soon as they get that force, they will lock you up.
And we have to prevent the Socialists from obtaining that force – and that means their ideology has to be proscribed. Point blank: our eventual necessity here is to make it illegal for anyone holding Socialist views to hold any sort of political power in the USA. Additionally, in our public schools and universities the teaching of Socialist ideology must cease. The books must not be available. It should be illegal to sell or give a Marxist book to a minor. On and on like that – just a complete exclusion of all Marxists of whatever label.
Or, you can sit back and let it happen. It was, of course, illegal to be Socialist under Franco but once he died, those laws were repealed or ignored…and now the Socialists are dismantling Spain just as they were dismantling it in the 1930s. Franco saved Spain, his successors lost it – not by turning Spain into a Constitutional Monarchy (in many ways an ideal system of government) but by allowing Socialist ideology to return. No matter how many elections you win, no matter how many reforms you implement if you do not remove Socialism from your society, you’ll eventually get Socialism again. It is like a cancer that can only be cured by cutting it out.
It is a choice between Socialism and Civilization. I choose Civilization and not some sentimental idea that I’m made stronger by protecting those who hate Civilization.
Socialists have largely always been privileged people who think they’re smarter than everyone else.
There’s another group … single females who seek security and protection from the government. And that is why, since 1964, the American government has been incentivizing single parent households. And why single females make up a huge Democrat voting bloc.
Socialism is just communisms sexy cousin. There really is no difference, socialism just sounds better. The problem is …. it’s never worked. Ever. And no, Sweden is not a socialist country. It is a capitalist economy with a generous social welfare system and how can they do that??? Because they are a small, homogenous country with secure borders, and that model can never work here in this large diverse country.
The other day, Hillary compared Trump to Hitler again … I know another day that ends in y, BUT considering Democrats are in the streets calling for the extermination of Jews, that comment seemed more delusional than ever. She really is a complete piece of shit, and as Rush Limbaugh use to call her … the most cheated on woman in America.
You know we’ve crossed into the Twilight Zone when the Left calls Jews Nazis.
Pictures of the Pro-Palestinian mobs literally show swastikas on flags and signs and the entire theme is Hitlerian—a new Final Solution.
The Twilight Zone you’re talking about is that murky mental void we see in the uneducated generations we are having to deal with. They have a vague sense that a “Nazi” is bad, they hate the Invented Other they foolishly believe is “the Right” so naturally a bad word should be used to express how strongly they feel about what they do not understand.
Ditto for their beloved word “fascist”. They have absolutely no idea what fascism is, where it originated, what it means, what political structure it defines, or anything but that same vague itch that makes them feel it’s a powerful word to describe something awful so they throw it at the same Invented Other that exists only in the fever swamp of Leftist lies and ignorance.
That was bad enough when it was just a bunch of ignorant mouthbreathers calling names but now those same mouthbreathers are actually, literally, BEING what they claim to revile. They are the New Nazis. Not Neo-Nazis—those are just a few cosplaying misfits who latched onto something they thought would upset the grownups and get them some attention. No, these are true Nazis, the new version but just as toxic.
And as for fascism, these people worship the State. The father of fascism, Mussolini himself, explained that with fascism nothing matters but the State. He wrote, in his “Doctrine of Fascism”:
Anti-individualistic, the Fascist conception of life
stresses the importance of the State and accepts the
individual only in so far as his interests coincide
with those of the State, which stands for the
conscience and the universal, will of man as a
historic entity. It is opposed to classical liberalism
which arose as a reaction to absolutism and
exhausted its historical function when the State
became the expression of the conscience and will of
the people. Liberalism denied the State in the name
of the individual; Fascism reasserts
He refers to “classical liberalism” which has nothing in common with political Liberalism, which is much more fascist than liberal. He admits that “liberalism denied the State in the name of the individual ” which is what has drawn liberty-seeking people who believe in the person rather than the State, and gloats that Fascism “reasserts” the dominance of the State.
The quibbling about Leftist semantics is usually just arguing over distinctions without much difference. All depend on the submission of the individual to the State and on consolidation of power in the hands of elites who then control the populace. Socialism lets people own the means of production and then confiscates the product to distribute as it chooses, while communism owns the means of production and controls the distribution of its product. They all, as Mussolini wrote, “accept the individual only in so far as his interests coincide
with those of the State”.
And for some reason, every Leftist movement has hated Jews and focused on eliminating them from humanity. In the United States the Democrat Party, which depends heavily on secular Jewish support, has toned down this bigotry, but in the Biden Years it has been given free rein and is finally coming into its own, with the American Left proudly declaring its emotional and political ties with the German Nazis.
“found a way to stay in power”??? You mean kind like the way Biden “found a way to get back in power”? We both know it wasn’t legitimate.
Uh oh …
FBI Seizes NYC Mayor’s Phones
I guess Eric criticized Biden’s border policies a little too much and now he’s getting the Trump treatment. Are we going to allow this regime to continue?

Are we going to allow this regime to continue?
What do you suggest we do to end it?
Well of course I think we ought to go to DC with guns a blazing. Right?
I rest my case, which is that venting frustration might feel good but offers no solutions
There was no case, but besides that … I have been reading Killing the Witches, all about the Salem witch trials which is fascinating. One of the leading Puritans of the day was Cotton Mather, someone who counseled a young Benjamin Franklin … so cool how history ties together. Anyway, the primary evidence used to accuse and convict perceived witches back then was the simple testimony of young girls who would claim their “specter” was haunting them and afflicting them. The girls would put on shows if hysteria in the courtroom to convince jurors that the defendant was indeed afflicting them and that was the only proof needed to send them to the hangmans noose. I can’t help but see the parallels in todays society as young women screech and squeal about abortion, white supremacy, and Palestinian rights.
Again, I think they are seeking the illusion of being relevant, which they are getting not by actually doing anything significant but by performance in support of things they are told are important.
Because it’s Saturday I almost forgot – happy Veterans Day, Mark. Thank you for your service.
“It is the soldier, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag.”
This morning Red State has a column discussing comments by Dan Bongino, Douglas Murray and Kurt Schlichter–well worth a read. It includes this:
As Murray explains, even the Nazis attempted to hide their atrocities. Hamas sympathizers are proud of theirs and proclaim them publicly. Because of that, they should be seen as at least as barbaric as Hitler’s movement was. In fact, it’s reasonable to say that Hamas is simply a modern extension of Nazism. Instead of reacting accordingly, police forces from London to New York City are standing idly by as the violence escalates. Why? Because those perpetrating it are intersectional and thus untouchable.
I highlighted that last part because it points out two issues, which may or may not be related. One is that the violence and call for more violence including the slaughter of an entire nation and its peoples around the world is being tolerated and the other links this to the cultural warfare leading to the acceptance of various special interest groups who talk about being “intersectional”.
It suggests that the intersection is one of totally undermining not just the cultural foundation of our nation (and others) but of law and order and enabling attacks on our government
Human beings are messed up. Always have been
Here’s a good example of the absolutely depravity of human beings …
Daniel Williams, 22, was serving a 12-month sentence for second degree theft at Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore, Alabama when a warden reportedly found him unresponsive in his dorm on October 22. He was declared brain dead upon his arrival to the hospital and provided palliative care, his family detailed in a GoFundMe campaign. He was taken off life support on November 5 and passed away four days later at Kilby Correctional Center. The warden reportedly told his family that Williams suffered a ‘drug overdose’, but insiders at the prison say he had been ‘kidnapped, bound, assaulted and sold out’ by another inmate for ‘two or three days’.
So the poor guy was held hostage and beaten to death AND the prison officials lied about it. This is why the DEI movement is so dangerous … it completely ignores basic human nature. Evil resides in the hearts of many, and to ignore that fundamental fact, is to foster it’s growth.
What is meant by “sold out”? I think I can guess but wonder why this was glossed over. They “officials” seem to know who did this, yet there isn’t any comment on that.
Carla Crowder with Alabama Appleseed says what happened to Daniel is all too common.
She says, “The brutality, the violence, the dysfunction, it’s not an aberration anymore. It’s a feature of the Alabama Department of Corrections. It is our system. And so, the kind of horrific deaths that we’ve seen, what happened to Mr. Williams is not even uncommon anymore.”
And yes, he was raped.
We have a people problem in this country. A Godless, selfish, hedonistic, violent, people problem.
It’s a circular argument—-with good leadership this is not allowed to develop, but then because it has developed it elects bad leadership.
Government can’t make people be good people, but it can impose penalties for being bad people, and it can reward good behavior. This is probably the main requirement for government as nearly everything else falls under this broad umbrella–all our laws, anyway. Aside from providing a national identity so we can engage in international diplomacy, national defense and coordination of interstate commerce the primary reason for the existence of the federal government is to provide that umbrella of protection necessary for a civilization to exist and prosper.
When good behavior is not rewarded and bad behavior, ranging from sexual degeneracy to dishonesty, theft and harm to others is either ignored or rewarded, government has to take responsibility. We’ve seen government retreat from any responsibility for even identifying malignant behaviors, much less penalizing them. We have gone from laws against various ways of corrupting children to having federal funding of schools that provide graphic instruction in sexual acts including homosexual acts to children as young as five or six. We have basically abandoned the rule of law in so many areas it barely exists, from ignoring immigration law to refusing to prosecute crimes to making the subtle but important shift from tolerating the killing of unborn children to paying for it, advocating for it and celebrating it.
The cultural shift from finding some behaviors unacceptable or undesirable, such as unwed pregnancy or marital infidelity, to the new paradigm of finding “virtue” in accepting every act once deemed offensive in some way and condemning “judgment” as somehow wrong has erased the basic moral foundation of society.
Society can’t force people to do the right thing, but there is a value in societal pressure, whether it be criticizing shopping in pajamas or condemning admiration of “baby daddies” who impregnate multiple women and take no responsibility for the results or other ways of saying “this is wrong” about various erosions of what used to be considered common decency. The Left knows this, which is what is behind the frantic move to shift the wording of abortion from “available” to being a “right”—-the understanding that this will change the perception of what is essentially a human rights violation into simply exercising a “right”. This is what is behind the movement to recast efforts to keep pornography out of easy access by children as “banning books”–the effort to make such access appear to be a good thing and denying it a wrong thing, erasing the societal pressure to protect children from sexual predation by making child porn a part of our educational system.
Government must lead the way, though. We have to have government that demands that crime be prosecuted, that children be protected, that the ability to do something is not a God-given right to do it without negative reactions from others, that there are rules of belonging in a civilized society and that while not everyone can be forced to follow them they still exist.
I agree with all that. This is also just the long and repeated arc of human history, from debauchery to decency and back again.
There have always been debauchery and degeneracy that have marked the end of a civilization. I don’t know, offhand, of any civilization that has been in a death spiral of such malignance and/or apathy and moral/intellectual rot and turned itself around. I think what we are hoping for is that we will be the first.
Hmmm. This might be a theme starting to resonate around the country. Derek Hunter has a good column today: Democrats Thrive on Lowering Standards
Two takeaways from the column:
Regarding Susanna Gibson, “the wannabe legislator and aspiring exhibitionist (who) lost by only 966 votes” he comments: The closeness of the outcome is what is telling about the Democrat Party and society as a whole. There was a time when graphic sex, even with your spouse, on camera being made public would have embarrassed a candidate off the stage. But graphic sex on camera being seen by the world was the purpose of the graphic sex on camera. Well, that and the money that came along with it. There was no shame because there is no shame anymore.
And:
Shame was an important tool for setting civil society’s standards. No laws were broken, and none of this should be against the law when involving consenting adults. But shaming them held people in line. It makes the guy down the block inclined to have a bunch of cars on blocks on his front lawn not do that, knowing he’d be shunned by neighbors for it.”
San Francisco, in yet another bow to the history of Russian manipulation of perception, is turning itself into another Potemkin Village, moving its homeless out of areas that will be viewed by Chinese President Xi to create the illusion/delusion of a great city.
I knew the reference, but as usual I did a little research on the term just to make sure I was getting it right, and ran into this gem that is not related to San Francisco’s little shell game with human beings but to other aspects of life under this regime:
(An) example is the phrase “Potemkin court”, which implies that the court’s reason to exist is being called into question (differing from the phrase “kangaroo court” with which the court’s standard of justice is being impugned).
If Americans can’t see that this country is very soon to be a country of “haves” and “have nots”, then I give up. Just keep electing members from the uni Party, and we will soon be there.
I am so tired of people leaping to wild conclusions. Steve Berman lied in his headline “WHAT THE MAO? Trump Praises Chicom Dictator” when he quoted Trump saying ““China, many years ago, was being taken over by much smaller countries bc they were all drugged out on the poppy fields. The poppy. The drugs. Heroin. The nation was drugged out. And then along came a very powerful leader, you know who that is, and he said, ‘no more.’” and then claimed Trump was praising Mao, going into a dissertation on how bad Mao was.
Maybe you have to start from a TDS platform to get where Berman went, but this kind of overheated hyperbole and dishonesty is really getting annoying. What Trump did was give an example of how a powerful leader can make big changes happen.
Berman telegraphs his toxic bias with the lead-in to his Mao freakout when he describes Trump as “the guy who affects the movie Capone’s mannerisms (that might have been based on himself)”. Poor Berman, can’t even watch an old gangster movie without inserting his pathological hatred of Trump into it, seeing Trump in Al Capone and, evidently, also in one of the law enforcement officers. It’s kind of hard to tell, given the rambling and semi-coherent effort to cram as much anti-Trump sentiment as possible into what is essentially just an unwelcome peek into a disturbed pathology. He even tries to find significance in the fact that Capone died of syphilis in a Florida mansion
I mention this because, while I think there are plenty of calm and rational reasons to have negative opinions of Trump most of the resistance to him is very similar to this unhinged hyper-emotional screed in which the author beclowns himself in his sad need to find as many ways as possible to impugn Trump by comparing him to malignant characters from the past, including Hollywood inventions.
