The other day I read of a proposal in Canada to allow “mature minors” as young as 12 choose “MAID” – that is Canada’s hideous “medical assistance in dying” program. We’ve also seen proposals to let “mature minors” engage in sexual activity with adults and, of course, it is considered a given that a 12 year old (or even younger) can decide that biology got it wrong on their gender.

You have to think about what this is: this is not something that is in any way compatible with what we call Civilization. This is all objectively evil stuff. Anyone who adheres to it – and very soon if not already the global Left adheres to it all – is not someone who can be argued out of it. We have no frame of reference which would allow us to make the attempt – we’re aghast at the hideous, Mengele-like immorality of it all while the proponents as certain they are doing good.

Just as good, in fact, as Mengele felt about his experiments. Himmler about his Holocaust…and Soviet NKVD agents in sentencing people to 10 years of slavery for nothing. That is, they believe they are right and we are wrong. That to cut off healthy body parts of a child or allow him to kill himself is right. That, in fact, anyone who disagrees with this is the evil person. There’s no way for minds to meet on this – and no way to compromise. Neither they nor we will agree that some children should be able to cut off body parts and that some children can choose to kill themselves. We say, “not at all”, they say, “anyone who asks for it”. And with encouragement to ask, of course.

At the end of the day, compulsion will rule the day and decide the course. Either they will compel us to accept their views, or we will compel them to accept ours. We aren’t getting out of this by being nice. Libs of TikTok put out yet another video of a middle school teacher who is aggressively pushing the woke agenda on her students. It is a typical video – the earnest but very crazy-eyed lady calmly explaining how she’s pushing her ideological views. Unless and until we on our side see this as worthy of ten years in jail, this won’t stop. We can’t be in every classroom. We can’t monitor everything that is said. Only outright prohibition enforced by stiff jail sentences gets it to stop…all the while with the MSM reporting the propagandists as saints and us as wicked persecutors. But it has to be done. Or we will all be destroyed.

The liberal group “Vote Vets” has determined that the three American soldiers murdered by Iranian proxies the other day were killed…by Trump. It is Trump’s fault that it happened, you see? If Trump hadn’t been tough with Iran then none of this would be happening.

I don’t know. The polls are generally good but they also say lots of different things. Conventional wisdom is that the Democrats will be able to keep a solid Electoral majority behind Biden. Maybe so. We’ll find out: but I can’t help thinking that a campaign of “Orange Man Bad” combined with “Shout Your Abortion” is going to be unsuccessful. If it does work, then we’re just plain and simple doomed. But I suspect it is going to fall flat on its face.

I guess Harvard’s director of diversity has been caught in plagiarism. No surprise. A lot of people are ripping into her but I can’t work up any anger against her: she just worked the system. It is those who built and maintain the system that need to be destroyed. But make no mistake about it: prestige credentials issued in the last 25 years or so are worthless. If someone who has such credentials and is educated and intelligent it is in spite of the college, not because of it. This has happened for two reasons:

  1. Ideology – they want Leftist apparatchiks and that is what they produce.
  2. Colleges make more money if they pass out degrees than if they demand academic performance.

I don’t think our education system can be reformed. I think the rot is so deep that the whole structure is broken. To have education in this country again, we’re going to have to build a new, parallel system of education and allow time to whither away the existing system.

Seems that Pudding Brain reposted an Elmo post. Yes, Elmo from Sesame Street. That Elmo. In case you wonder how things are going.

Most of what you are upset about are proposals. They will never happen. I could easily find just as wacky proposals coming from conservatives, but won’t because I know they represent the extreme views of a few.

As usual, you make no sense, but thanks for reminding us of your poor reading comprehension.

Garcia was not making a “proposal”. He was talking about his belief that if elected Trump would impose certain bizarre methods to control illegal immigration. Do try to keep up.

Better yet, do try to find a venue where you fit in better. I think HuffPo probably has a slot open.

I was referring to the proposal from Canada that Mark referenced.

Proposals like gay marriage? Now we’re dealing with violent trans people? Proposals like defunding the police? Now we have rampant inner city crime. Proposals like decriminalizing drugs? Now we have a generation of drug addicts. Proposals like winning the hearts and minds of Muslims? Now we are in a world war.

Everything Democrats propose …. turns to shit

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona January 31, 2024 / 12:06 pm

He’s not even talking about that. He is responding to my post about that mental defective, Garcia, and his loony tunes fantasies about what Trump is going to do at the border. I liked the alligator and the spikes and electricity on the fence, but was a little disappointed to see no piranhas. Or claymores. Or body-dismembering laser beams. Maybe Garcia got interrupted before he finished outlining his delusions.

Casper’s reading comprehension is so bad (possibly accounting for his ignorance of the Constitution) that he took this Democrat delusion about the prospective terrors of another Trump presidency (ignoring the fact that none of their fantasies happened in the first one) as a “proposal” of some sort. Yes, because a radical Democrat would “propose” the border control features Garcia was losing sleep over.

He’s so much better off in Hawaii, where he can be proud to be considered the equal of Mazie Hirono and far from the sane state that sent Liz Cheney to the woodshed.

      Sure.

I mean, who would think that same sex couples being together would ever be called a marriage? The whole idea is ridiculous and just a proposal from the far left kooks.

My brother, you are doomed – you will eventually have to support all of that or be expelled from the Left.

You know they are not just “proposals”…especially since they’re already medically transitioning minors and Pudding Brain’s Administration is calling it “health care”.

Your only way out is to admit you are wrong. Indeed, have been wrong about most things for most of your life. Perhaps you’ll have the courage to admit this and move into the sane world. It is doubtful: most people who commit to wrong things never retreat from them. For every Hanna Reistch there are a thousand Gudrun Himmler’s. It really isn’t that hard, though: I was wrong about a great many things for a very long time. It is why I’m now Distributist when I was Conservative; Protectionist when I was a Free Trader. Isolationist when I used to be Internationalist.

Essentially, Caspar, all of us Right and Left were sold a line of bullsh** for 60 years. It was all a lie. All a Ruling Class con job…and all designed to destroy what is good and true…what is normal and human.

Reject it, Casper – before you turn into Mengele’s stepchild.

Same sex marriages haven’t hurt anyone. I have a number of gay friends who have been together for years and their marriages are as strong as any other peoples marriages. I would agree with you that minors shouldn’t be transitioned. It shouldn’t be allowed to happen until after a person turns 18. That view isn’t going to get me expelled from any group I’m part of.

      • Mark Noonan's avatar Mark Noonan January 31, 2024 / 4:05 pm

Oh, man; you are so doomed. You just won’t see where you’re heading. You will be here, one day soon, telling us that The Science supports medical transition for minors and that no trans person ever hurt anyone. How do I know this? Because you say it “shouldn’t be allowed to happen”. No, Casper, it must not be allowed to happen. It must be actively opposed. Those who are doing it must be arrested and sentenced to life in prison breaking rocks…parents, teachers, doctors, lawyers, therapists, school counselors…anyone who in any way suggests that a human being can be born into the wrong body and must have chemical and surgical alterations to “cure” this malady is EVIL and must be stopped. You’re already half way to actively approving it.

You don’t get it. Can’t get it. Once again, because to get it means to admit error and it is easier to get a human being to jump off a cliff than get one to admit they’re wrong.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona January 31, 2024 / 9:04 pm

Some long-term same-sex partnerships are as strong as some traditional marriages. Some are not. Your comment is facile and silly.

There is no such thing as “transitioning”. That word implies an actual change from one sex to another. This is not possible. It cannot be done. What the Left calls “transitioning” is merely theater, to convince people that they can stop being what they hate—their true gender—-and start being a different gender, in a sad and fruitless search for meaning and happiness.

Every time someone casually talks about “transitioning” he or she is actually enabling a cruel hoax that is destroying lives—but serving the purpose of further destabilizing our culture and our society and our nation.

      • Mark Noonan's avatar Mark Noonan January 31, 2024 / 9:29 pm

Yep; and part of our rejection of it has to be the wholesale rejection of Left terminology.

Whether or not an adult wishes to live as far as they can as the opposite sex is not something we can really do anything about. Live as you want to live! But no amount of clothing, makeup, surgeries or chemicals can change the underlying biological facts. A man is a man, a woman is a woman. Period.

Our duty – and it is our duty to those who wish to live as an opposite gender – is to never allow personal fancies or delusions to color our views. Nobody is ever born in the wrong body. God and Nature don’t make mistakes like that. The proper order of humanity is to live in accordance with the self evident facts of life. To not do that is to be disordered. We might tolerate various disorders but we cannot approve them. Not ever and not even a little bit.

I’m certainly not afraid to admit that there are things I’ve been wrong about in the past. 30 years ago I was against same sex marriage. Today I have no problem with it at all. I was also a Republican for 27 years. Wouldn’t go back that direction either. If anything, I would say I’ve become more open to other cultures and ideas as I’ve traveled and gotten older.

If your foray into Republicanism was so fragile that you turned your back on it and now say you would never return, clearly this was not a political decision but an emotional one. To say you would never return to being a Republican is saying that you would never support a federal government restricted in its size, scope and power, with most authority left to the people. It is a de facto way of saying that you now favor expansion of the size and scope of federal authority and consolidation of power in the hands of a few, instead of the Republican belief in keeping most power close to the people through strong state sovereignty.

In other words, you have turned your back on the precepts upon which this nation was founded, and once flourished, and moved to the Left and closer to a political system which has never succeeded and which, when implemented, has led to economic misery, tyranny and often the murders of tens of millions of people.

Same-sex “marriage” has always been a Trojan horse. It was never about equal rights under the law for same-sex committed partnership. It was always about the WORD, about the intent to erode the centuries-long spiritual and cultural meaning of the word, stridently advocated by a political movement as part of its goal of eroding all spiritual and cultural artifacts that have led to stable civilizations.

You’re going to eventually support gender surgery for minors.

        Absolutely no doubt about it.

You’ll feel you won’t be able to do otherwise…you’d lose your place in your social group if you don’t. At first you’ll just try to keep silent about it, hoping nobody directly asks as you see that conformity on minors is mandatory. But eventually you will be forced to state it because that is what the Left does. Silence is never acceptable on the Left: you must publicly state your adherence to the Party Line. Then you’ll be caught…and you’ll say it. And then you’ll go on saying it.

        It is sad.

        It is inhuman.

Stop now. Change. You’ll thank me for it when you no longer have to adhere to the Party Line. When you can at last be a truly independent person holding to your own views.

Twenty years ago I probably would have agreed with Mark about transgender people. So what changed my opinion? I’ve had two of my favorite former students transition after high school. I’ve met several others and worked with a couple at a place I volunteer. To me they are just people. That said, I am against any surgeries until after 18 and I am against Transgendered athletes competing with in women sports.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona January 31, 2024 / 11:55 pm

Well, neither of those former students have actually become a different gender. What they have done is accomplish the acquisition of disguises which make it easier to pretend to be the opposite gender from that which they are, still and forever, biologically unchanged. So no, neither has “transitioned” because neither has stopped being male, or female.

Yes, people suffering from such intense gender dysphoria, from the pain of hating what and who they really are and the desperation of thinking this can be changed, ARE “just people”. They deserve our respect as human beings. They deserve to be treated with the exact same consideration and kindness and generosity as any other “people”. If it makes them feel better about themselves to engage in elaborate self-deception that is fine. But it should not give them political power because of this aberration in how they see themselves, it does not make them so special they deserve special treatment, and it does not entitle them to demand that everyone participate in their fantasies with nonsense like choosing pronouns, or the insanity of things like “deadnaming”.

And rejecting the current fads of language like “transitioning” and “transgender” does not mean these people should ever be treated as less deserving of love and respect. It just means that they do not have the right to impose their personal conflicts on the rest of us.

        Amazona,

“To say you would never return to being a Republican is saying that you would never support a federal government restricted in its size, scope and power, with most authority left to the people. “

If this is what Republicans are really for, then why was the federal government bigger at the end of the last three Republican presidents term than at the start? In my experience, the Republican Party doesn’t stand for most of the positions you list.

      • Mark Noonan's avatar Mark Noonan January 31, 2024 / 9:34 pm

The people do. You’re just noticing what we GOP rank-and-file have noticed of late: the UniParty. It is where we have GOP Senators from R+30 States working with Democrats to thwart the expressed wishes of the GOP base. We are, over time, starting to clear those people out. But don’t mistake cowardly or venal people who managed to latch on to the GOP label for the party, itself.

We know what we want – with variations based on lots of factors, we want government restricted to its proper functions; we want strict protections for the civil liberties of the citizens; we want our border controlled and the illegals expelled; we want an end to war and to handouts for foreigners; we want the Rule of Law.

We may never get this. We may be too late; but it is what we want…and if you reject what we are, then you are rejecting all notions of human decency. You are, in opposition to us, a mere tool for a corrupt, anti-human Ruling Class.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona January 31, 2024 / 11:43 pm

In your experience, does your party stand for most of the positions I listed? Any of them? Of the two major parties in this country, which comes closest to these ideals?

In the real world, we start with our ideal and then come as close as we can to it. The Republican Party has drifted away from its core political values, which is why so many of us don’t call ourselves Republicans but Conservatives who have to vote for Republicans because that is as close as we can get. And there is a strong movement to get the party back to those core values—which the Left hates, fears and attacks, with invented pejoratives such as “extreme right-wing” and now, “MAGA”.

“Right-wing” in the context of American politics means allegiance to the governing principles of our Constitution. Period. So to be “extremely right-wing” means nothing, more or less, than ardently supporting this political position. If the Left were not so threatened by this agenda of moving the nation back to its founding governmental principles, it/you would not be hurling all these names with such venom, trying so desperately to convey to the Uninformed that they have some sinister meaning and define some sinister “threat to democracy” blah blah blah.

Also, you spout the trite old whine of “the federal government bigger at the end of the last three Republican presidents term than at the start” like a good little puppet. But note the fact that you talk about Republican PRESIDENTS. Which Republican presidents oversaw growth of the federal government, what was the nature of the growth and most important, what was the makeup of their Congresses? Do you contend that this growth was more than that under Democrat presidents?

And what is the reaction to Republican efforts to rein in this expansion and reverse it? It is panic, hysteria, fear-mongering, outright lying and general demagoguery. This growth is in two basic areas—–entitlement spending (forms of welfare) and expanding federal agencies. Forget your canned babble about “last three Republican presidents” and look at which party has pushed for expansion of federal spending on entitlement programs. Which party freaks out about references to reducing both the size and the scope of the Bureaucratic State?

        Absolutely no doubt about it.

You’ll feel you won’t be able to do otherwise…you’d lose your place in your social group if you don’t.”

No Mark, I won’t. it’s a minor issue. It’s never been brought up my me or anyone I’ve had political discussions with. The only people I see really obsessed with this are conservatives.

      • Mark Noonan's avatar Mark Noonan January 31, 2024 / 9:52 pm

        Yes, you will.

In fact, it is 50/50 you already do but don’t want to say that here.

I can say that because you think it a minor issue…that it isn’t too important that some youngsters are put on medications to stop puberty and have surgeries cutting off healthy body parts.

That isn’t a minor thing, Cap – it is hideous. It is something no decent human being can contemplate without being horrified.

        You’re not horrified.

So, you’re at least most of the way there to approving it.

And what is really sad – pathetic, really – is that you’ll approve it simply because to fight against it might come with a cost.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona February 1, 2024 / 12:07 am

The only people I see really obsessed with this are conservatives. Good to know. I never realized that the dyed-hair sign-waving screechers waving rainbow flags were conservatives. It never occurred to me that pronoun-police were really conservatives.

First gays said “stay out of our bedrooms and just let us live our lives”. So we did. Then that morphed into “the way we choose to live our lives is now a major political issue” which turned into the compulsion to identify sexual identity which quickly became political pressure to include it in the sudden obsession with “diversity”. It was not conservatives who suddenly made homosexuality a prominent component of pretty much everything.

Believe me, conservatives would be very happy to return to just treating people as people, without the need to know details of who they screw or what their private parts are (or were) or how detailed their delusions might be. WE aren’t the ones demanding that “misgendering” should be a crime or inventing bizarre pseudo-pronouns.

Quite honestly, the main opinion of conservatives when it comes to this whole mess of sexual chaos and confusion can be summed up as STFU. If you’re a guy in a dress, you’re a guy in a dress but aside from you and other people who think this is important NO ONE CARES.

Kick Her Out! Ron DeSantis Calls for Ilhan Omar to Be Expelled From Congress, Denaturalized, Deported

I forgot that Omar was naturalized. I’m not sure how that slipped my mind, given the moderate (thanks to the Agenda Media) but still informative information about her committing immigration fraud by marrying her brother and comments at the time about her being naturalized herself.

She was married, allegedly got a divorce “according to her faith tradition” and then married her brother, to qualify him for permanent residency, acceptance to a college and financial benefits for studies. While married to her brother, she continued living in the same house as her “divorced” husband. After a couple of years she divorced her brother and “reconciled” with her first husband–the vagueness of references to her first divorce and eventual reconciliation with her first husband, along with her continued cohabitation with him, indicates that she was either married to him all along and lied about the marriage to her brother or committed bigamy to commit immigration fraud.

Now she is openly declaring that her primary allegiance is to Somalia. There is no way she should be in Congress, or even in this country for that matter. Ditto for Tlaib, who has a Palestinian flag outside her office instead of an American flag.

It wasn’t that long ago that Democrats and Republicans basically wanted the same things, and the party divide was based on how much they thought the federal government should expand its size and scope to accomplish those things. This allowed for civil debates, for the most part.

Now Democrats want very very different things than Republicans want, and now Democrats proudly embrace socialism. And they have become so radicalized that it is impossible to have conversations with them.

    • Amazona's avatar Amazona February 1, 2024 / 10:11 am

cluster, you make an excellent point about both the Conservative concern for protecting children and the Progressive determination to abuse and exploit them.

I guess if you are a typical Dem low-info voter getting his “news” from the alphabet networks or CNN you might have actually believed that children were being “ripped from the arms of their parents” and then “put in cages”. But the media personnel spreading these lies knew the truth. The Dem leadership knew the truth.

They knew that children were being used as pawns, as accessories to enable Obama’s “bring a kid, get in free” invitation to border crossers. They knew that kids were being kidnapped, or sold, or just entrusted to non-family members in hopes that once the child got across the border it would be easier for them to cross to join him, and they knew that once across the border many if not most if not all of these children were sold into sex slavery or just dumped on the streets of American border cities to fend for themselves.

They knew that Bush implemented a system where adults accompanied by children were separated from the children to be interviewed, while the kids were kept safe behind exactly the same kind of fencing around nearly every single elementary school in the United States, fed and cared for and also interviewed to make sure that the adult with them was really a parent or authorized guardian. Sometimes these periods of separation were just a few minutes.

But the media jackals, so firmly stuck up the butts of the Left, would play PR games like find a mom with a couple of crying children and take a photo, and caption it as a distraught mother having her children “ripped from her arms” as they wept in terror.

And the ignorant caspers of the country chugged this toxic brew of lies and propaganda and obediently reacted with horror (HORROR! I TELL YOU!) at the cruelty of the Right, which just kept on protecting children from exploitation, abandonment and abuse.

We see the same kind of nonsense every time the Left pounces on another chance to present the Right as somehow being anti-child, while the truth is that the Right is trying to protect children from the abuses so loved by the Left. From poisoning babies and dismembering them while they are still alive to taking them to elaborate sex-themed “drag queen” shows exhibiting degenerate sexual acts to demanding that they can easily pick up books with cartoons showing how little Jimmy can put his penis in little Johnny’s mouth when they are really just looking for a book about baby ducks, the Left is relentless in its treatment of children as disposable tools for propaganda and indoctrination—while loudly screeching that the Right doesn’t care about children.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona February 1, 2024 / 10:25 am

The media know how profoundly stupid and easily led the Dem base is, so they don’t worry that these people might connect the dots and realize that when school board members freak out at hearing the contents of their beloved children’s library books read aloud, when they burst into tears and/or bolt from the room, this is a clue to the graphic and disgusting content of these books. No, they just keep demanding that these books be readily available to very young children, and keep howling in outrage about the “Nazi book banning” promoted by the always-evil Right.

These media ghouls never run stories about how much better it would be for those supposedly marginalized children supposedly trying to deal with the sense of being “different” and supposedly needing access to books assuring them that there a lot of people who feel the same way if those supposedly deeply concerned parents would buy or borrow a couple of these books and sit down with their children and read them together. We never see a suggestion that it would be so much healthier for these kids to have Mummy and Daddy go through the books with them and explain how to fellate boys, as something every third-grader should know. If this is something a young child should be aware of, to the extent of having how-to cartoons in their school libraries, wouldn’t it be better for them to have it all explained to them by mummies and daddies, in the home? Maybe even demonstrated?

No, the media just follow their scripts and write about the tyranny and oppression and FASCISM of those bad nasty evil far-right extremists who don’t think young children should be sexualized, without the self-awareness that their position is then, by default, that young children should be sexualized.

The authoritarian Left preys on “open minded”, “big hearted” people who have little to no brains, and this defines a lot of Americans. Take Casper’s comment that he realized “they are just people” when speaking of trans men who want to sexualize children. It’s a disease, and you’re right Mark, people like Casper will never speak out in opposition for the risk of their current social status. Casper has made the comment several times that he is politically with the “cool kids”, which reminds of an old adage … “the road to hell is paved with good intentions”.

Remember the gay sex act in the Chambers of the Senate that was filmed by a Democrat staffer? No charges have been brought, no scrutiny given to this despicable desecration of our government, BUT J6 trespassers are still in jail and what do people like Casper say …. NOTHING. Casper may not agree with everything the authoritarian Left imposes upon us, but one thing is for sure … he would never speak out against it, and that right there is the problem.

“Do you have an example of casper disagreeing with the Left?”

Guess that depends on what you think “the Left” believes.

I believe that the law should be applied equally. A person assaulting a police officer should be charged whether it’s at a riot in a city or at the capital. I have no problem with Hunter Biden being charged and if found guilty of crimes going to jail. Same with Trump or any other politician. I’m also a bifg supporter of free speech, even if it isn’t something I want to hear. The exception being false information being spread that puts peoples lives in danger.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona February 2, 2024 / 12:56 am

Nifty little recital of issues and platitudes. But we really should be talking about how best to govern the country.

First, you snidely put “the Left” in quotation marks, indicating a lack of belief that it even exists, which is not much of a surprise as so few on the Left even know what it is or how to define it. I’ve had Leftists snarl in fury that they are tired of me using the “pejorative” of “the Left”. We’ve seen trolls here deny that there is any such thing as “the Left”. And now casper is doing the same thing, or at least implying this with his coy little quotation marks.

I KNOW what the Left (without quotation marks) believes. Its belief system regarding governance has been laid out by Marx and Mussolini, to name two. It is a political system of top-down governance, based on a massively powerful Central Authority. In the United States we see it in the constant effort to expand the size and scope of federal authority and limit the powers of the states and the people.

One might think a teacher would know and understand this, but as we have so often noted and commented on, our teachers these days are so abysmally ignorant they can barely teach anything. We’ve seen this with casper every time he tries to talk about the Constitution, as he earnestly explains that he has read and understood it as he then proceeds to misquote it and misstate it and even come up with loopy conclusions such as his belief that to believe we must follow the Constitution as it is written we must also be in favor of denying women the vote and reinstating slavery.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona February 2, 2024 / 1:08 am

        Short tutorial:

Imagine a horizontal line. Put a zero in the middle of this line. If ones’ political belief is that the United States must be governed according to its Constitution, that puts one to the right of the center, or zero. The less the conviction of the essential need for strict Constitutional governance the more to the left of the zero one will fall.

As far as being “far right” or “extremely right” etc. these are meaningless phrases. Social and cultural artifacts such as racism have nothing whatsoever to do with a belief in whether or not we have to abide by our Constitution, so to apply terms like that to what should be purely political identity is simply trying to smear Constitutional Conservatives by linking them in the minds of the ignorant with distasteful concepts.

There are, however, gradations of Leftism, starting with the belief that it’s OK to just stretch the Constitution a little, in serious circumstances. This mild leaning to the Left thinks the 10th Amendment is too strict and we should be able to have the feds take over control of how we get or pay for our health care, or determine what is and what is not accepted speech. Leftism goes from this hovering near the center but unwilling to make a commitment to the Constitution all the way to the end of the spectrum and full-fledged Communism. On the way, we have varying degrees of socialism, and of course fascism, though the Left has been trying for decades to pin that on the Right.

Well, Casper, if you’re willing to jail people for spreading false information that puts peoples lives in danger then your side is headed to jail.

Pretty much every policy pushed by the Left is killing people – and the largest, the Climate Scam, would lead to billions of deaths if implemented.

Oh, so sad, so very very sad. What’s really sad is the Liberal conviction that pretending to be sad is somehow impressive.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I haven’t seen a response from you ignored. What I have seen is vague platitudes about emotion-based issues, which you must think are really answers. And you claim you have been “accused of things that never happened”. I guess I can understand why you are so sad, if this odd skewed perspective is your life.

I just got off the phone with a woman who is from an old Colorado ranching family, still with large holdings in the mountains of Colorado. Last night they had two cows and a horse killed by wolves. Not eaten, mind you…just killed. In the general area, there are reports of a large wolf pack driving a big elk herd into a small area, running the elk till they were nearly collapsing, and then leaving many slaughtered elk lying there in what was describes as a slaughterhouse. A nearby woman had a prize guard dog and four of her puppies killed. These are killing rampages, sport killing by large packs of huge wolves who are much bigger and more aggressive than native wolves. They are not eating these killed animals. They are just killing for fun.

The state, which dumped a bunch of huge wolves into the smaller wolf population there, has collars on them but claims they only transmit sporadically so they have no way of always knowing where they are. However, a top man with a game and fish organization says that is a bald-faced lie, that the collars always work, but also that the state has run wire along the border and essentially turned it into an invisible fence to keep the wolves from crossing.

This is the kind of hot mess you get when you let Leftists run a state. While their wolf experiment is creating havoc and causing the torture and death of animals, these same urban morons are working on a plan to dump a bunch of wolverines into the state.

    • Mark Noonan's avatar Mark Noonan February 1, 2024 / 8:52 pm

That stems from the modern assumption that our ancestors were all stupid and/or wicked…that the wolves were pushed out in a fit of folly and evil. Rather than, say, the wolves being pushed out because you can’t have domestic animals and wolves in close proximity. Our ancestors weren’t stupid – but they hunted wolves because wolves were destructive to human pursuits. It was a matter of Man or Wolf.

      Now we’ve chosen Wolf.

And then there’s the gigantic underlying fallacy: that there was some set time when things were static and that was the ideal we need to return to. Of course, Earth climate and geography are in continual flux. India used to be connected to Antarctica, right? There is no stasis. There is no way to preserve nature. It is all going to go away one way or another. Given this, the proper approach is one of stewardship…cultivating the land and animals for our best use rather than fussing about whether or not the pandas will exist in the future because, in the end, they won’t.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona February 1, 2024 / 9:52 pm

The big argument from The Side That Thinks It Can Fix Everything was that because there were no wolves left in the area they would be doing something noble for “nature” by reintroducing wolves. For one thing, they ignored the ranchers who live there, who had always seen wolves and knew they were around. So a handful of effete urban “fixers” decided to “fix” the wilderness.

In their efforts to trap wolves to be brought here, they chased packs with helicopters, which terrified and traumatized the animals, and when the wolves were exhausted they dropped nets on them. This resulted in killing 21 wolves, through stress and broken backs and legs, to get five they could then release in ranch country. Some of these had been trapped and collared in the past so they had been tracked, and were known to have killed livestock and gone into ranch yards to kill dogs. But they were still set free in areas packed with livestock and pets.

They never told the public about the torture and killing of all those other wolves, and they have been lying about their alleged inability to track them now. They certainly have never admitted to basically imprisoning them with high-powered versions of the invisible fence, to keep the wolves penned into a specific area—a populated area with a growing residential presence as well as home to many ranches.

These imported wolves are much bigger than the native wolves, and show no fear of humans. And they indulge in spree killing, which is unnatural for nearly all predators and certainly for normal wolves, who kill to eat.

      • Cluster's avatar Cluster February 2, 2024 / 9:26 am

I often refer to my earlier life as one in which I was an “unexamined” Liberal. That is, I accepted what my Liberal tribe told me, without questioning it, and tended to have a knee-jerk rejection of anything that didn’t fit in with it. It was only when I started to question that I started to see how hollow and empty the illusions were.

I think what we see here is Casper, smug in his conviction that his advanced age and time spent traveling have made him wise, still regurgitating the same old scripts his Liberal masters have fed him and which have formed what he no doubt thinks of as his “political” beliefs (though as we see they never seem to include any actual politics).

So he comes here to trot out what he evidently thinks are examples of this great wisdom, only to find it challenged. There really isn’t anything he can do but shut up. He is too deeply ingrained in many decades of indoctrination into his shabby, tattered but beloved belief system and self-identity as intelligent and analytical to take the risk of stepping over a line and truly examining what he thinks are facts but which are really just illusions.

He even has to put “the Left” in quotation marks, as if the phrase is a mere rhetorical invention.

He’ll be silent till the red marks from his last blog flogging fade and some other brain fart convinces him he has something intelligent to bring to the blog, and we will start over.

Those effete urban legislators also have wolves on the “protected” list. Clearly this is a time for civil disobedience.

Ranchers have always followed the SSS rule when they have had to deal with dangerous predators the city folk want to be protected. That is, Shoot, Shovel, and Shut Up.

I think they need a massive public relations push, with photos of these savaged, bloody corpses left to rot, scattered like bodies on a battlefield. Photos of darling little white puppies torn to pieces. Photos of a $30,000 horse which became a little girl’s beloved friend when he was too old to compete any more, lying in his own blood with his throat torn out. It’s a little late now, but the next time it happens I would load those torn bleeding bodies on a flatbed trailer and drive it through Denver, uncovered, dripping blood, and park it in front of the statehouse.

Actually, they walked out of the legislative session and stayed out with full knowledge that there was already a law in place stating that anyone with ten or more unexcused absences would be barred from running for reelection in the next election.

It was a decision they made. It might be a bad rule, but it was voted in by the public and in place before they walked out.

The Republicans say they aren’t worried and will run other good people. The law is so badly written that as far as I can tell they could set up a rolling slate of alternating legislators—-Slate A uses its power to block voting, can’t run in the next election, so that is when Slate B runs. But the rule applies, as far as I can see, only to the “next” election, so then when Slate B is banned from running in that one Slate A can come back. And so on.

Dems are all big mad because the quorum rule means those pesky Republicans can interfere with their authority by not showing up. Wahhh wahhh wahhh

In my world, this guy gets a medal of honor ….

Joshua Schulte, 35, was found guilty in July 2022 on eight espionage charges and one obstruction charge over the so-called Vault 7 leaks.

The leak, which prosecutors called one of the most ‘brazen’ leaks in US history, showed how the CIA hacked Apple and Android smartphones to turn them into listening devices.

But this issue does tell us who actually runs this country. And yes, the child abuse charges are manufactured … no doubt

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13037297/Joshua-Schulte-sentenced-40-years-prison-brazen-intelligence-leak-history-Former-CIA-officer-guilty-possessing-child-abuse-images.html

It appears that Schulte did not leak this information out of indignation at abuse of power and government surveillance of citizens, but because he was ticked off and felt “disrespected” and unappreciated in his job. If he really is that emotionally unstable, then yes, I have no problem believing that he would also be into child abuse porn.

And then there is the question of whether or not these leaks compromised national security. I remember when the Left was very defensive of and protective of whoever leaked the information about how the government tracked financial dealings to find terrorists, because Bush was president and anything that might hinder his success was a win for the Left. I can see how the ability to turn phones into microphones to eavesdrop on terrorists would be a valuable tool, and losing it would make it harder to protect the country. It’s just a situation where we citizens would have to trust the government (choke, hack, cough) to not use this to spy on political opponents, etc.

Given all the major corporations that have announced significant layoffs for 2024, I find the economic figures released today not all that believable.

Of course the government would never lie to us – right?

    • Retired Spook's avatar Retired Spook February 2, 2024 / 10:26 pm

I thought the jobs report was too god to be true. Well, it’s sort of true. Almost all the jobs added were part-time. The economy has actually lost 1.6 million full-time jobs since last June.

      • Amazona's avatar Amazona February 2, 2024 / 11:22 pm

Not to mention how many federal government jobs were added.

The U.S. set a new record in January for the total number of Americans employed by the government, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

The government added 36,000 new employees in January, with 11,000 in the federal government and 19,000 in local government, totaling 23,091,000, according to the BLS. January’s total outdid the previous record of 23,055,000 that was set in December, marking the third month in a row with a new record

Aside from some odd math, I think it’s obvious that if you control the government you can just hire a bunch of people so you can brag about how many new jobs you “created”. After all, if you can just print more money you can invent new jobs, right?

“There just aren’t enough people working for the government” said no one, ever.

    • Mark Noonan's avatar Mark Noonan February 2, 2024 / 10:39 pm

Heck, in the official numbers what they’re showing is that American citizens have lost jobs while employment of foreigners has skyrocketed…also in the official numbers is a loss of full time jobs while part time jobs increased. Part of that is people needing to take a second job, the other part is companies preferring part time employees to keep costs down in a heavily inflationary economy.

But, bottom line, no, we don’t trust official numbers. They can’t be trusted. We can see what is happening – the huge layoffs by major corporations, the massive drop in mortgage applications, skyrocketing consumer debt, increasing delinquency in consumer debt repayment. That is the real economy…that is what is happening underneath the official numbers and the fact that some people are doing very well right now…government employees and private firms which primarily serve government are making out like bandits. Their pay increases are massively out-pacing inflation. But, its all government money…its all deficit financed…and it is all inflationary.

How this comes out nobody can know; the central banks have become very good at keeping things afloat. Of making it seem like we haven’t tipped over into Depression. Can they do it forever? Certainly not. Will it show in 2024? We’ll find out.

First Outbreak of Deadly Fungal Infection Confirmed in Washington State, Officials Say

Just in time for the 2024 presidential election. Got to have a few months to allow for “pandemic” levels.  I imagine most everyone on the right wondered if (expects) there will be another mysterious disease, where it will be deemed necessary to mandate yet another lockdown, “requiring” mass mail voter registration and voting. This makes it far easier to cover up to pallets of mail-in votes from unknown sources. Hey, if it worked once…

I’m currently west in Phoenix AZ for a visit with my daughter and saw several white cars with twirling mirrors on all sides and a rotating mount on the roof – without drivers. At first I thought these were test units but apparently not. Seems they are an alternative to taxis, Uber & Lyft. I’ve heard of such technology in the making but didn’t realize it was being utilized. Is this a west coast thing or only currently being employed in a few larger metropolitans?
