So, what’s the over/under on Haley getting crushed in South Carolina? I’m going with 40.
She’s still in the race because a lot of big money people keep handing it to her. So, her staff has no reason to quit: they’re still getting paid. And that she hasn’t pulled the plug regardless tells me she’s a creature of her staff. Regardless of what happens in 2024, she’s off my list for 2028. I just don’t trust her.
Team Pudding Brain is now set to call the Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal. Basically asserting the Islamist position on the matter. Why? Gotta be Michigan – his people must be seeing disaster there and are desperate to shore up his support there among the Muslim community. But it probably won’t work: by and large the Muslim community anywhere in the world takes a strongly anti-Israel position.
But even if they kowtow to Islamist demands, I don’t think it is going to do the trick. The murder of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley by an illegal immigrant is, by itself, just another in a long list of crimes committed by illegals who aren’t supposed to be here…but her death seems to be resonating far more widely than most. People are sick of it. Sick of illegals. Sick of the fact that once an illegal commits a really big horror we invariably find out he was in custody before and could have been deported.
It is all just getting to be too much. It is shifting the political dynamic, including in blue areas. It is such an easily fixable problem and everyone can see that government and business are conspiring to keep the illegals flowing. It makes people feel, correctly, that our Ruling Class hates us. This can lead to very odd things happening. Buckle up.
Some House Democrats are apparently working on ways and means of not certifying the 2024 election if Trump wins. They’ll only do this if they control a majority of House delegations next year – which may be different from who holds the overall House majority. Remember: when the House votes for President, it is one State, one vote. So, whoever has control of 26 or more State delegations wins. Currently the GOP controls 26 State delegations with 2 delegations split (so, essentially, no vote) and 22 under Democrat control. The Democrats would have to have a really good night in November for this to shift significantly. But, there you go: they are going to fight for democracy by denying the result. They are just lying, corrupt hypocrites determined to gain and retain power.
Well, your 40 point spread was a bit off, but I suspect if you subtract out the third of the people who voted in the GOP primary in South Carolina who were Independents and Democrats, you might have been pretty close. Haley DID do well among “moderate” Republicans.
LOL – yep; but still she’s got zero chance. They’re talking up Michigan as her come back point as that’s the next major open primary…but even there Trump is crushing it.
She keeps going and it is clearly an Establishment op to just cause trouble for Trump – but word is that Trump will now just ignore her and shift into general election mode.
Any bets as to how far Democrats and Never-Trumpers will go to prevent Trump from being President again?
There is no way to calculate odds like that, because so far the only thing they have left is physically taking him out. They’ve tried federal agencies, they’ve tried Congress, they’ve tried the courts, they’ve tried rewriting laws for puppet DAs to use as weapons, they’ve tried to bankrupt him, they’ve tried to destroy his ability to do business, they’ve tried to keep him off the ballot. They don’t have many options left. And I am sure he knows this and his Secret Service protective detail knows this and I am sure he has his own protection in place as well.
The thing is, the Left has to know that DeSantis would be an even bigger danger than Trump, and that an assassination would guarantee a Republican victory for whoever was nominated to step up to the plate. Maybe they, and Haley, do think she could be slotted in in Trump’s place, but they are thinking in Old GOP terms of who “deserves” to be the candidate. Merely hanging on and being dragged at the tail end of a race is hardly enough to elevate her to that status even if we haven’t already decided that is a losing philosophy.
Kitchen sink, on steroids.
I really put nothing past them. A leftist idiot just set himself on fire to protest a genocide that isn’t happening. That is how propagandized their own people are. They keep talking up Trump as this existential threat and there will be many to step into the role of Trump-stopper. I hope his personal security is good: I have no faith the Secret Service will do its job.
There is something in it for her, we just can’t figure out what it is. It can’t be ego, because she is being so thoroughly humiliated time after time. It has to be big enough to be an acceptable trade off for being kicked around the way she is.
Nikki is being played by the Democrats and she’s either too stupid, or too narcissistic to figure that out. One thing is for sure, she is killing her political future. She has no place in the GOP anymore and Democrats will discard her as soon as they are done with her. Bye Nikki
The other possibility is that she thinks, or maybe knows, that something is going to happen to Trump, and she will be the last candidate standing.
Even that is delusional, because if something were to “happen to” Trump the base would turn to DeSantis. Even if he had officially withdrawn from the race, instead of merely suspending his campaign, he could be the nominee.
Agree. I would never vote for Nikki Haley and honestly, a Nikki Presidency would be no different than Biden’s presidency.
It is all just getting to be too much. It is shifting the political dynamic, including in blue areas.
What Trump loses with “moderate Republicans” aka; rich fence sitters, he picks up with Blacks and Hispanics and I’m really ok with that.
If the left successfully succeeds in take Trump out physically, I do believe that will be their worst and last mistake. The bloodshed would run like a river through this country.
I don’t agree. The reaction would come from the Right, which is not (with some obvious exceptions) particularly bloodthirsty. I think there would be the kind of reaction we got on 9/12—-a sense of national unity in rejection of this kind of violence—and a huge shift away from the Left in response. It would be a self-defeating move on the part of the Left as it would move Ron DeSantis up into position to be president, and he is a much more serious threat to the Left than Trump is or would be because he knows the law, he understands legislation, he understands the military and the intelligence community and he is tightly focused and disciplined.
Nothing will move Haley up to that level, or Ramaswamy, no matter how delusional they are. There is no one who could step into Trump’s shoes but DeSantis. But the image of an outraged mob of conservatives taking to the streets and creating a “river” of blood is simply not realistic. As I always ask, “who you gonna shoot?”
As I always ask, “who you gonna shoot?”
My list is over a thousand, and they’re not all Democrats.
I can never picture the scenario in which this might happen. OK, if people are charging toward your house to invade, hurt, or rob you, that makes sense. But because you are mad at the government? Or at Dem voters? Timothy McVeigh was mad at the government, and I don’t think anyone agrees that he had a very productive way of dealing with it. I’m envisioning a clock tower and a rifle and a manifesto that says “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it any more”. Not exactly getting to the people responsible for the problems, though.
Sorry, I searched and searched for a tongue-in-cheek font, but couldn’t find one (in case the FBI or DHS is monitoring our comments)
Just an observation here, but these posts are another great example of how far down the rabbit hole we have all sunk into the last 20 years. Remember we use to talk tax policy differences, welfare program differences, etc.
Now, we are worried that our speech on here may be monitored by the State, and what we will do to survive. That’s one hell of a fall in 20 years, and when someone voices a little frustration, they are asked “who you gonna shoot”. Whoever gets in our way is the answer to that question. Give me liberty or give me death is not just a saying.
Whoever gets in our way is the answer to that question.
That’s exactly right. Right on the money!
So who’s in your way, right now? Right this minute? And what do you think you could accomplish by shooting that person? Time to put away your shovel because the hole is just getting deeper.
Please don’t pretend that a comment about a reaction to an event leading to “bloodshed running like a river” is merely expressing frustration. So whoever “gets in your way” gets mowed down? What, exactly, would constitute “getting in your way”?
I understand frustration and I understand rage and I understand the need to DO SOMETHING. I just don’t understand the mechanism by which something can be done with a gun, unless it is self defense. But then I am a linear thinker, so I tend to follow a thread to its origination point. That means going to the source of a problem, and anything short of that is just posturing and bluster, to put it bluntly. Pick a problem, pick out anything that enrages you, and then explain just who could be shot to make it better. And how this could be done.
You are right about how far down the rabbit hole we have fallen. We used to think of ourselves as Americans, with basically the same goals, and our politics revolved around disagreeing about the best way to achieve those goals. Now we are told that thinking of ourselves as Americans is racist, nationalist, populist, elitist, colonialist and xenophobic and a sign of sociopathy, and we don’t even have the same goals. But we can’t change ideas with bullets, no matter how cathartic that “solution” might feel on the surface. In fact, I find that mindset too much like that of the Soviets to be even remotely acceptable.
I’ve said repeatedly that the last thing I want to do is shoot another American, but we’re only one election away from people showing up at my front door to “give me my vaccine,” or to procure my home to house illegal immigrants, or arrest me because I said something online that they didn’t like, or simply because I supported Donald Trump. That’s not hyperbole.
I agree. But you are talking about a specific response to a specific threat. I am talking about the lack of specificity.
OK—play a little game with me. In this game, you have a magic eraser wand you can use to simply remove people you think are the problem. The rule, though, is that there has to be some strong indication that removing these people would significantly change the situation.
So—POP! and Joe Biden is gone. What has changed, though? So POP POP POP POP and there go Kamala Harris, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama. Hell, pick any four you want. And then take a look at the overall picture. What would change? Say you can do as much popping as you want, and you eliminate Soros and Garland and whoever else you think is an impediment to liberty and Constitutional governance. So you’re on a roll, and within a couple of hours you have used up five thousand POPs.
The thing is, without the right people in place to fill the void left by removing all these people there are hundreds of thousands more of them eager to rush in and fill the vacuum. And they might even be worse. A lot of them might appear to be on “our” side, but as was illustrated in Animal Farm even those who preach a certain philosophy can be corrupted by power. And the thing is, those taken out would not be, for the most part, those who really run the show anyway.
In this fantasy, if you could take out the three worst Liberals on the Supreme Court and the worst of the activist judges around the country, the worst officers in every branch of our military, the top 20% of the federal agency administrators and the most influential and powerful Dems in Congress, along with the entire administration, and then IF you had the right people in line to take their places, AND a coherent plan and replacement structure you might be able make a difference. But that is what it would take. And if you take the judiciary and Congress out of that equation, everything else can be accomplished without a shot being fired, in a month or less, with the right president in the Oval Office.
So what I am saying is, pick your battles. There is a very real battle in front of us and it doesn’t require guns to fight it. It’s the battle for the presidency.
No, that is not hyperbole. 2024 will be the year we either restore freedom, or we will lose freedom. Just like in 1776. And we need the same courage those guys had. And I will also mention that blood has already run in the streets of America, most recently in the summer of 2020.
I will also mention that blood has already run in the streets of America, most recently in the summer of 2020.
Yes and what did you do about it? What COULD you do about it? What will you do about it when it starts up again, which we know is going to happen? What’s your big plan when a pack of feral professional rioters descend on Phoenix—-or Denver or Los Angeles or Chicago? Go all Rittenhouse on them?
It’s obvious that fantasizing about being the next Rambo is gratifying, but it’s also kind of silly. I’m pretty comfortable in speculating that you have never killed anyone. That you have never seen a person die due to violence. That you have never been in a situation where bullets have been flying. That you have never looked down the barrel of any gun at any living creature, much less a human being, and decided to pull the trigger. Jeremiah may have killed animals, but I doubt that you have—-not by shooting them anyway. The man who ran my concealed carry certification class had been a cop, and he talked about how, in spite of all his training and all the conversations he had had with fellow officers it all went out the window when he got shot at, and when he had to face the prospect of shooting another person. So I find all this chest-pounding and manly bravado quite unimpressive.
But you do you. And in the meantime serious people will be doing serious work and hoping a few hotheads don’t screw things up by acting out.
In this fantasy, if you could take out the three worst Liberals on the Supreme Court and the worst of the activist judges around the country, the worst officers in every branch of our military, the top 20% of the federal agency administrators and the most influential and powerful Dems in Congress, along with the entire administration
Hypothetically – that sounds like a good start, heh.
I agree. This is my wish list. This is what it will take to really make a difference.
The most powerful Dems in Congress are, for the most part, timing out. Look at their ages. The so-called “Squad” only has what powers their masters allow them to claim, and can be ignored. And we don’t need to get rid of all of them. A very few additional seats in each house will do the trick.
Judges are a different kettle of fish, though I just read about a judge being removed for malfeasance. He evidently wasn’t even taking bribes or anything, just being a bad judge. If you think about it, most judges operate and rule in little bubbles, and most people don’t know how bad they are. Publicity and ridicule for bad rulings might have a slight chilling effect, but the key is in the appointment of new judges. This really holds true for the Supreme Court. I think if Jackson had cruised to approval she might be ruling differently than she is now, but now she has to prove she isn’t just an empty-headed place holder for WOMEN OF COLOR !!!
Agency heads and the military are all within the scope of presidential authority, especially the military.
If you have ever used a siphon you understand the principle and I think it would apply to our society and especially our government. If the top 20% of every federal agency were fired—maybe even as few as 10%—-even the remaining Leftists would be intimidated on one hand and lacking the support and encouragement from management they need on the other, and I think would end up being pulled along with everyone else. Sure, there would be wailing and gnashing of teeth and threats of #RESISTANCE but in a few months this would have become tiring—it takes a lot of energy to keep up that level of outrage—and things would settle down.
Ronna McDaniel is finally out which means the purge of the Bush/McCain/Romney Republicans is nearly complete. And what Trump will lose with moderate martini Republicans, he will pick up with God fearing, hard working Black and Hispanic families, and that my friends, is a much stronger Republican Party.
It’s clear that establishment politicians and the agenda media have no clue who the American people are anymore. They have completely lost touch
“It Doesn’t Make Sense!” – CNN Panel Has Epic Meltdown After Trump Gets Double the Number of Votes Ever Received in South Carolina
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/02/it-doesnt-make-sense-cnn-panel-has-epic/
I’d love to see this very black man give this message on BET several times a day through October and November, and in any other venue targeting black people, as well as in what would have to be paid announcements on alphabet networks, which is where the popularity contest voters get their “news”.
If Republicans really want to win more votes we should start a campaign to talk about voting not for a PERSON but for the kind of government we want. Our message should be that even if we really dislike a candidate on a personal level we should vote for the political system we think is best for the country. When you have a candidate who is so thoroughly despised, on a personal level, by so many, it only makes sense to shift the focus from him as an individual, from his personality, from the things that people dislike about him, to the true choice people will be making, which boils down to Constitutional governance or a massively powerful Central Authority run by elites.
I think we’re going to eventually have to restrict the franchise. Sure, I know the Jim Crow nitwits did it for wrong reasons, but a literacy/civics test. Not being on welfare. No criminal record. Things like that. If we can just get the bottom 20% of the electorate off the rolls the nation will be saved…we’ll only be electing people, left and right, who are at least as sensible as Congresscritters were, say, in the 1920’s.
Also: we must find a way to make lying a criminal offense…perhaps some statute that would make lying in return for money a felony? I don’t know: something … but people are already dying in large numbers because lies have been allowed to spread…and it’ll just grow exponentially worse the longer we let it go on.
Start with serious welfare reform. This is one thing George W Bush did right. I remember an interview with a young black woman, a second- or third- generation welfare single mom, who talked about her panic when told she had a limited time in which she could receive benefits and would then be cut off. Her story was about being so scared of what this might mean that she went to school and got some kind of certification—I am thinking LPN but am not sure—-and ended up thanking Bush for his policy because she was a completely different person. She talked about the dignity of working and being paid for her work, of teaching her children this lesson.
So do the same thing now. In the meantime, drug test for welfare, and stop this SNAP nonsense. Go back to the “government cheese” model, provide nutritious food but not unlimited fast food and definitely not liquor or luxury items like steak or lobster. If we’re going to have a Department of Agriculture, which I think is the department that ran the county extension agent program, make it functional and get people out into the community to teach these people how to cook meals.
A literacy test would never fly—-when black kids, in particular, are sent out of our “educational system” functionally illiterate a very good case could be made that a literacy test is racist. I think that problem is so bone-deep in our society right now it can’t really be corrected, and will just have to run its course, as we work on actually educating our children. What we CAN do is learn from the Left and start using media, especially the entertainment media, to educate people.
Get back to the school voucher idea. The first time I attended CPAC there was a speech by a black woman from DC who talked about the limited school voucher program they had, and how it had changed lives, giving parents hope that their children could have good futures, giving children the opportunity to learn outside of the fear and violence of their neighborhoods, and creating an ongoing legacy of education and productivity for the eventual families of those children. She broke down and cried when she talked about Obama getting rid of this program. (This was in 2009 or 2010.)
We can’t change much from the top down. But we can do whatever we can to mitigate the damage created by the dysfunctional society the Left has purposely created, and start to change the future from the ground up. And in the meantime, stop making it so easy for the ignorant to vote. Get back to voting in person–that alone will make a difference.
All of this takes me back to the same complaint I have been howling about for years now—our lack of a way to communicate. We are so very very bad at it, and so crippled by our limited media access, that we have basically ceded that field to the Left. So much so that it’s a miracle we are still even in the fight. I can think of only one person—ONE ~— I think really understands this, and that is Greg Gutfeld. He understands that lecturing people turns them off, talking down to them turns them off.
I never realized how truly screwed up Arizona is. In Arizona, you have to prove citizenship to vote in state and local elections, but to vote for the president all you have to do is sign an oath that you are a citizen. The idea of having a stringent rule for state and local elections and nothing more thana feeble “scout’s honor” promise to vote for the president is insane.
What’s even crazier is the Secretary of State declaring that this is just fine, that an oath that is not backed up by documentation is more than adequate to let someone help choose the leader of the nation.
The Arizona Secretary of State, “Moonbeam” Adrian Fontes, evidently took a break from sending money to a Nigerian prince to earnestly explain why asking for proof of citizenship just isn’t, well, trusting enough. Or something.
This is interesting: when I looked up the laws for voter registration in Arizona I was sent to the Federal Voter Registration Form which is available in many different languages.
????????????
To become a naturalized citizen, one must pass an English proficiency exam. A friend whose parents were naturalized a few years ago asked me why we need translators to help people vote when voting is supposedly reserved for citizens, including naturalized citizens who had to pass a test to become naturalized. At the time I said many have asked that question. But I never realized that people who can’t speak English can request a voter registration form in another language.
So…you don’t have to be able to speak your native tongue (if born in the United States) or have learned enough while studying for your naturalization test for English proficiency to register to vote, which raises the obvious question of whether or not you are even a citizen. Then if you are in Arizona you don’t have to prove citizenship to be able to vote for the president. I thought it was bad enough to qualify on just a pinkie swear, but it turns out that a valid drivers’ license will somehow, in some odd and magical way, prove that you are a citizen—even though we now hand out drivers’ licenses to people who don’t even pretend to be citizens. Thanks to Motor Voter, even people known to the clerks at DMV as non-citizens here on temporary visas are asked if they would like to register to vote.
And we wonder why our electoral process has become such a joke. This sounds like a good platform for the GOP in general—-legislation to limit voting to citizens. What a radical concept! That’s even crazier than not wanting dead people to vote!
I never thought I would see this level of silliness in Texas:
Another one bites the dust. The Turtle is finally gone. Cocaine Mitch has done as much damage to the GOP as Mitt Romney has, so thank God both of them are soon to be gone. Problem is, if they elect John Cornyn, we will stay stuck in neutral. Not a huge fan of Thune or Barrasso either but they are better than Cornyn. I would prefer Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, or Rand Paul.
I agree about Thune. I am OK with Barrasso, and the other three you mention are good choices.
Unfortunately, I think the GOP caucus will simply for the longest tenured, “next man up”, rather than vote for a strong leader.
There’s a lot of attention paid to Thune being “telegenic” so we have an idea of the priority of the Senate. But if it will help to have a pretty face and a glib speaker I guess both are still an improvement over what we have now.
I just have to think that New Yorkers are super happy with their choice for AG. Rather than worry about the rampant crime, homelessness, and illegal criminals, Letitia is focused on all the right things
New York AG Letitia James Files Lawsuit Against Worlds Largest Beef Producer for ‘Misleading Public’ About its Impact on Climate
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/02/new-york-ag-letitia-james-files-massive-lawsuit/
Is JBS headquartered in New York, or are BIPOCs going national now? As I doubt they have feedlots or slaughterhouses in NYC it shouldn’t be too hard for them to pull up stakes and move to some business-friendly, less hysterical state. In the meantime, Letitia is playing to her base, which will already back her play no matter what it is, so she isn’t risking anything by this grandstanding in New York. And of course this really is a “let them eat cake” attitude from someone living high on the hog on taxpayer money. Rising beef costs will just add a few $$$ to her taxpayer-paid restaurant tabs. Let little Letty feed a family on a normal salary and see what she thinks about paying more for food.
Laugh for the Day:
“Let me be clear, I never intended to keep my hospitalization from the White House or anyone else.” Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin.
Have you noticed that ALL Democrats always say … “let me be clear”?? I suppose it’s because in their heart they know they are lying.
It’s almost like an iron-clad rule: when a Democrat says “let me be clear,” you know the next words out of his/her mouth is going to be a lie. Pretty funny, actually, in a pathetic, disgusting sort of way.
